Kelly Nieuwenhuis began farming in the early 1980s near Primghar, Iowa. The interest rate on his first farmland purchase was 18% in a county that often has the highest average value of farmland. Over four decades he’s expanded his operation and serves as the president of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board.
