In this episode of HappyCast, we dive into the incredible journey of Addy and her triumphant finish at the Javelina Jundred. Known for its party atmosphere and relentless desert heat, Javelina pushed Addy to her limits as she tackled high temperatures in the 90s, fully exposed trails, and the goal of breaking the coveted 30-hour mark. With determination and a carefully executed plan for each loop, Addy proved that grit and preparation are the keys to conquering an ultra.
Stephanie shares how Addy played a pivotal role in her own ultra-running journey. From joining the Dallas Dirt Runners to finishing their first 50K at Running the Rose and even starting races like Born to Run and Lake Murray together, their friendship has been one of growth, perseverance, and learning. Addy’s experience at Javelina was about more than just the finish—it was about embracing challenges and overcoming past DNFs to redefine her limits.
We also hear from Steve, who takes us inside the unique party atmosphere at Javelina’s base camp. With costumes, music, and the vibrant energy that sets this race apart, it’s clear why Javelina is a favorite among ultrarunners. Whether you’re chasing big goals, finding inspiration in your running community, or just looking to enjoy the journey, this episode will leave you motivated to hit the trails.

This week on the HappyCast, we recap the most recent Moab 240, which ended up being one of the hottest years on record! Our very own Andrew was sent over to volunteer and was on-site for over a week witnessing the beauty and carnage of this race.
But more importantly, and impressively, we have Jess Greene join us to recap her experience. This was Jess’ 5th Moab experience, so we get to deep-dive in what it’s like running this race that many times, how this year proved more challenging than others, and whether or not there is an end in sight for her Moab career. At the end of her appearance on this episode, she talks about her start in Ultrarunning, and how like others out there, she had not athletic background and was out of shape. Her inspiring words paint us a picture of how anyone has the ability to accomplish big goals, not matter where they start in life, as long as they have the right mindset and drive going forward. She encourages others to reach out to her for advice as well. This is one of her passions in Ultrarunning, so we were honored to hear more about it.
And in the second half of this episode, Andrew talks about his Moab experience, from volunteering to pacing, and all the wild things in between.
And does the infamous pool party boy himself show up to say his piece? Was Andrew too mean to Aaron Kubala during Moab? Will there be retribution?
Find out on this jam-packed episode of the Moab 240!

In this powerful and inspiring episode, Andrew, Stephanie, and Dylan sit down with Meg Eckert, an ultrarunner who recently achieved a stunning feat at Big’s Backyard Ultra by completing 87 laps, setting a new women’s world record with a total of 362.5 miles. Known for its grueling format, the backyard ultra challenges runners to complete a 4.167-mile loop every hour until only one remains. It’s an event that tests not only physical endurance but mental fortitude in ways few can imagine.
Meg shares the journey that brought her to Big’s Backyard and her evolution from a hesitant runner to a world-record-breaking ultra-endurance athlete. She opens up about the mental battles she faced during those final laps, the strategies that kept her moving forward, and the moments of vulnerability that even the most seasoned runners encounter.
But Meg’s journey isn’t one she faces alone. Joining the conversation is her husband, Joe, who has stood beside her in every race, often as the steady presence on her crew. Joe offers his perspective on supporting Meg through these punishing events, from the highs of her record-breaking moments to the lows that few others see. He shares the challenges, sacrifices, and unspoken dedication that come with his role, highlighting the unique bond they’ve built through the shared experience of ultrarunning.
Through stories of their travels, late-night race shifts, and the emotional roller coaster of crewing, Joe provides a window into the often overlooked yet essential support system behind every ultra-endurance athlete. Together, Meg and Joe’s partnership exemplifies what it means to chase audacious goals as a team, blending grit with grace, perseverance with patience.
In this episode, Meg and Joe’s story reminds us of the power of endurance—not just in the miles logged but in the relationships that carry us through.

In this episode of the HappyCast, we go traverse the Canadian Rockies with Rachel Bambrick in one of the hardest “new” 200 milers in the country: The Divide 200 by Sinister Sports. She is also leading a movement with creating Women In Ultrarunning, which was created to make trail running more accessible to women across the country. Primarily in Pennsylvania, the movement is slowly taking hold across the country.
