Ryan grew up in a home filled with mental health challenges, he believes his substance use has roots in trauma. All the pain, went away the first time he smoked weed.

“It made me full and comfortable in myself”

Today Ryan works in a recovery center and advocates for all-inclusive recovery strategies.

“I had a rock tied to my waist walking into a river. If someone hadn’t seen me. I wouldn’t be here.”
Eric spent his life battling addiction. He had a lot of success, but struggles always took him back out there.
“All I ever wanted to be was a good dad, I always loved my children, but I could never love myself.”
From suicide attempts, to psych wards, to the loss of a friend,
Eric has survived what would kill most,
and now he wants to share what he has learned from his mistakes and his triumphs all along the way.

 "My life was a chaotic abyss, I didn't know how bad it was until I tried to quit."

“The doctor didn’t seem to care that I was struggling he just kept prescribing pain meds and told me to get out of his office”

Jennifer struggled with Fibromyalgia her whole adult life.

She managed it with non-habit-forming medication until she found a new doctor.
Fentanyl and hypomorph flowed like water.

Even when she asked to reduce her dosage, her doctor insisted she continue.

Her relationship ended, she lost custody of her son, her hair and teeth were falling out.
And she never once went to the street for her drugs.

“I somehow ended up at a new doctor, she pronounced me dead to my face, she said I shouldn’t be here.”

Born into addiction, and raised by a guardian she called grandma, Tee managed to steer clear of substances until, at the age of 18, she dislocated her knee. The doctor put her on oxys.


At 20, she entered a methadone program but not long after, was suddenly cut off when she was unable to attend due to her grandma’s passing.


Down the rabbit hole, she went. 15 years on the streets and battling a substance use disorder, mental health issues, and nowhere to turn – or at least, that’s what it felt like.


After a fight with her wife, Tee found herself standing on a bridge questioning: do I jump or do I call 911 for help.

“I got arrested and taken to jail in my uniform. I was paraded around the precinct in handcuffs.”

Travis Sackett was arrested on duty for credit card fraud to support his habit.

A dog he rescued at the height of his addiction walked with him through the chaos, her name was Karma.

“On my darkest day I was in solitary confinement, traumatic brain injury, couldn’t talk. I had to find a better way. I was so scared that Karma wouldn't be ok without me.”
