Episode Title:-🇩🇪Introducing UPayLater🇩🇪

In this Heads Talk episode as part of the series of conversations with CSuite Financial and Fintech Leaders, I had a conversation with Robert Bueninck, CEO of Unzer. 

The conversation was dominated by the recent launch of Unzer’s BNPL offering for the B2B market - #UPayLater. Robert talked about the advantages of this model, allowing merchants and retailers to maintain valued end-customer relationships while ensuring they are able to offer them payment options. Issues around regulation came up in the conversation and we talked about the different approaches in Germany and the UK. Another conversation for those of you who follow the latest in the BNPL space. 

It will be interesting to see how the white-label bnpl offering develops over time and if other providers will move into this space (B2B) as opposed to the known B2C offering.

 Unzer is also one of the sponsors for the Special Olympics in Berlin 2023 and with their team spirit, many of the employees will be volunteering their services. 
 
 Generally, it was a great dialogue with Robert who is an entrepreneur by heart. His knowledge of the BNPL market was clear to see, having spent a number of years working as the Country Head for @Klarna in the DACH region and prior to that Belgium and the Netherlands.

As some of you probably know, I tend to do quite a bit of research prior to a conversation with a guest on Heads Talk, especially if it’s a field that I am not familiar with.  This one was no exception. However, going through the material and listening to some of the testimonies of the BCI Pioneers, I was unexpectedly moved. Completely amazed at the work that they are doing with their patients, their drive, the results and the fact that they are at the front of delivering hope to many individuals with paralysis and other neurological disorders. 

Jeff Jensen is the CTO of Blackrock Neurotech, one of the world's leading Neurotech companies.  We talked about the work that is being done within his organisation and I listened to some of the feedback that Jeff and his team are getting about some of their life changing products. They have developed one of the most advanced BCI used today and in this episode you will hear how excited Jeff is with the progress as well as get a glimpse of what’s to come in this space. Their mission state is a noble one and they are delivering groundbreaking results. One gets the feeling we are on the edge of an exponential development in neuroscience and you will marvel at some of the products due to be released and commercialised in the near future. Episode Title: 🇺🇸The Nexus between Neuroscience, Neurotechnology & Anaesthesiology🇺🇸

In this 140th episode of HeadsTalk,  still in the #HTNeurotechSeries, I’m excited about this guest today. He is the renowned Computational and Systems  Neuroscientist, Anaesthesiologist and Statistician Professor Emery N. Brown who holds endowed chairs at Harvard and MIT and is considered one of the world’s experts on Anaesthesiology.

The thing that struck me about Prof.  Brown was his humble persona. He was so gracious, communicative and our conversation continued well after the recording; and what a wonderful and memorable discussion it was. Despite his vast knowledge and unparalleled experience, at no point was I made to feel lesser. Remember, this is an individual that has a street named after him. Incredibly refreshing and admirable.

It’s hard not to be taken aback by his many achievements, accolades and awards in the fields of Neuroscience and Anaesthesiology, a true legend. His accomplishments speak for themselves, rounded off by being only one of a handful of individuals who has been elected to all 3 branches of the US National Academy of Sciences, Engineering & Medicine. He served on President Obama’s BRAIN Initiative Working Group and famously testified at the Michael Jackson deposition. Prof Brown expert advice is renowned across the globe because of his meticulous research and analysis work on sleep, anaesthesia & the unconscious mind.

So easy to be captivated by him & his mellifluous tones. Highly recommend a listen to some of his video lecture recordings. You’ll understand exactly what I mean.

There is so much more to the science of anaesthesiology & I literally couldn’t have asked for a better individual to explain it to me.

In this week of International Women, I had a powerful conversation with a CEO of one of the biggest pharmaceutical corporations in the world.  

We love talking about collaboration or partnership on HeadsTalk, especially how prevalent this has become post the pandemic. This conversation took a different direction to the partnership conversations we normally have. Brigitte Novel, CEO Roche Pharma Canada talks about the importance of the patient partnership they have and how this is cultivated by Roche. A tremendous amount of work, research and thought have gone into this and Brigitte, with her team at Roche Canada, are at the forefront; applying the right and latest enabling technologies. 

A conversation that shows you where Roche Canada is going and how this disruptive tech and 4th industrial revolution is driving this. Definitely a part 2 to this conversation to see and talk about how some of the ambitious targets discussed have been met. So stay tuned for that. I’m quietly confident that Part 2 will be equally enlightening.
