  • AN INNATE PERSONAL POWER WITHIN

Welcome to “Healing From Within.” I am your host Sheryl Glick author of

The Living Spirit Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which shares
stories of spiritual awakening spiritual communication healing energies
miracles and a way to know your soul presence for intuitive guidance and
direction. Today I welcome a former guest of the show Arjuna Ardagh to
discuss his book Radical Brilliance an innate quality within each of us
that can easily get covered by conditioning and diminish our personal
power to thrive and evolve as we can accomplish when aligned to our true
    nature as soul beings.

As our listeners well know Sheryl and her guests seek to share intimate

stories and insights into the metaphysical nature of human and spiritual
aspects of life, for by knowing how life actually works we may develop
greater self-awareness and master our emotions so we can find liberation
and freedom from the outside world and experience peace happiness joy
positivity and a productive life journey using our innate inner
    resources.

In today’s episode of “Healing from Within” Arjuna Ardagh author of the

Translucent Revolution as well as eight other books offers a compelling
and practical model for the hidden components which together make up the
components for creating a brilliant life. Supported by cutting edge
research into brain chemistry, nutrition and “bio hacking,” Ardagh
offers us not only a map to navigate the ever expanding field of
research and methodology for developing spiritual talents with tools,
techniques and lifestyle enhancements to help you reach the most
    brilliant version of yourself.

When Arjuna is asked to think back to his childhood or young adult life

to remember a person place or event that may have made a lasting
impression on him he describes his family as well as the different
phases that his life has been through: being raised by a predominately
intellectual family…seeking freedom from that conditioning through
spirituality …exploring various kinds of psychotherapy in his twenties,
and finally exploring how to make money and to create worldly success.
He talks about the hollowness of each of these pursuits and then
questions what would actually create a life of deep fulfillment. This is
his journey of discovering real happiness.

In his book Radical Brilliance describes a cycle of different kinds of

subjective experience and brain activity which he says will make someone
    innovative and original.
We discover that not all thoughts are created equal. We distinguish
between repetitive, imitative thoughts, things that we may have heard or
read from other people and the rare occurrence where a new fresh and
original impulse arises from the depths of our being. We explore the
parallel between Newtonian and Quantum physics: in one case things are
predictable, the other case they are not but lead us into a world of
magic. Perhaps if we knew more effectively how to access the origin of
original thoughts we would inevitably lead a brilliant life.

We explore four different phases of subjective experience, activity and

brain functioning, which while very different, when they co-exist can
lead to brilliance. I would think that brilliance means illumination of
the truth of who we are as spiritual beings having a physical life and
responding often to the prompts and pressures of the outside world often
forgetting that within us is the innate wisdom and guidance of Universal
    Spirit and eternal life.

Kute Blackson wrote the foreword to your book suggesting that brilliance

is actually our natural state but it gets covered over by conditioning.
You talk about that in the book as different kinds of blockage. We
understand that the brilliant cycle, as described in the previous
chapter, is mostly theoretical and what we actually discover in human
lives is various ways that the cycle gets stuck.

We discover four kinds of blockage:

Addiction, which means wanting to stay in one phase of the cycle at the

    expense of the others.
Judgment, which means wanting to avoid one phase of the cycle.
Aspiration/Resistance, which means that moving forward in the cycle
looks amazing, but out of reach, and Looping, which means that we become
a “specialist” and spend our lives getting very good at one tiny part of
the cycle. We discover that all of these kinds of blockage inhibit the
    expression of real brilliance.

You go on to describe practices that enhance and move people through the

different phases of the cycle and the free website that accompanies the
    book that lists 108 practices.

As we explore four different phases of subjective experience, activity,

and brain functioning which are very different from each other we make
the comparison to a clock, with 12 at the top, 3 on the right, 6 at the
bottom, and 9 on the left.

The four phases of the brilliant cycle are:

12 to 3; Awakening to Creative flow. The arising of fresh impulses out of

spaciousness and emptiness which become creative expression.

3 to 6; Flow to Accomplishment. This is the arena of getting things

done, and learning to operate within the boundaries of time deadlines,
budgets, agreements, contracts. It is the domain where we are forced to
    make decisions and take responsibility.

6 to 9; Accomplishment to Humility. This phase begins with the often

painful experience of making mistakes and the feelings of shame, regret,
failure, and remorse which often follow. As we move around the cycle
towards 9 o’clock we shift towards learning, self-reflection,
    forgiveness, and humility.

9 to 12; Humility to Awakening. This is the phase of the cycle in which

spiritual and religious activity finds its home, it is the movement from
recognizing the smallness and irrelevance of the little me to a
recognition of something much bigger and more abiding.

A meditative approach leads to the awakening of true nature, a more

religious approach leads to a discovery of the love of God.

Arjuna tells us if he had adopt just one practice tomorrow to enhance

brilliance it would be based on an extensive interview with Eric
Edmeades, the founder of Wild Fit, we learn about the diet that our
ancestors followed, more or less unchanged, for hundreds of thousands of
years, and how far we have drifted from it. We focus specifically on
diet, not just for physical health, but for clarity of consciousness. We
learn specifically about the foods to eat, and to avoid, to give your
brain the greatest chance of having brilliant new ideas.

We learn about the 10 most important supplements to take on a daily

basis to increase the likelihood of thinking in a brilliant way. Based
on interviews with a number of experts we learn why, for example,
mineral supplementation is so important to brain functioning, as well as
many other easily obtained nutritional supplements.

The book was based on 420 interviews with extraordinarily brilliant

people who have made undisputed contributions to human evolution. A
great many of them referenced the use of supplements (either in the past
or more recently) that are currently deemed to be illegal in most parts
of the world, such as LSD, psilocybin, and others. The author reports on
these anecdotes without advocating the use of any particular substance.
We discover that the use of these substances is very different with an
understanding of appropriate dosage and setting.

Arjuna discusses brain activity and a number of world-renowned

scientists he interviewed telling us what is going on in the brain in
the different phases of the cycle. Based on research with some of the
most cutting-edge scientists alive today, we discover how each of the
phases of the Brilliance Cycle described in chapter 4 can be attributed
to particular neurotransmitters, the activation of different areas of
the brain, and to brainwave coherence. Arjuna describes interviews with
many leading people in the scientific and spiritual fields and their
discoveries for enhancing patterns that enable greater awareness and
    productivity.

The author describes his meeting with Barbara Marx Hubbard, and then

describes her connection with Jonas Salk, who inspired her. We encourage
the reader to seek out role models and to invite them for lunch or a
short interview. We describe how making personal connections with people
you admire can be a powerful catalyst for brilliance. Most of this
chapter is dedicated to the jaw-droopingly inspiring story of Lynne
Twist and how she founded the Pachamama Alliance. We recognize that a
life dedicated to something beyond your own needs produces much more
fulfillment meaning, purpose, and energy (and often more money and
success as well) than simply thinking about, “What’s in it for me?

Arjuna advocates getting up insanely early in the morning in order for

our brains to be producing the most innovative and useful new ideas. The
author points out how, through the advent of electricity, we have
drifted away from being in balance with circadian rhythms and how we can
    restore that.

You have written a book about innovation and the creative process and it

has a chapter about sex. That may come as a surprise but perhaps not.
Sexuality can be a way to enjoy physical pleasure, to share intimacy, or
to give birth to children. Here we discover how sexual energy, when
enhanced and cultivated in a conscious way, can become a potent portal
into brilliance. Based on interviews with several experts, the author
specifies sexual practices for men, for women, and for couples to wake
up energy and then allow it to flow freely through the rest of the body,
    in support of creative expression.

Sheryl works as an intuitive energy practitioner as does Arjuna with

people one on one as a coach and helps them see what the most frequent
obstacles that get in the way of brilliance are. In Sheryl’s book The
Living Spirit she address happiness and the many of the obstacles that
get in the way of our soul power and full potential in the following way
and writes, “ Many seek to the best they can be and are encouraged to be
perfect. They do not allow less for themselves than what others deem to
be perfect for them. But since we are always in a state of change, the
ideas and wishes of others are not nearly as important as our welcoming
the experiences and challenges that surface and handling them to the
best of our ability. We should aim to become a person who doesn’t find
fault in others, moving past personal obstacles with courage, hope and
faith to find peace. Be free of any influence of others that take that
state of mind-peace away from you.

We hear of the most common questions which people have asked the author

in seminars and trainings over the last years and his responses to them.
    The questions are…

Just since I heard about this cycle, I have noticed my creative energy

has been flowing much more. How is that possible?
What happens if we try to go through the cycle the other way, or skip
    over a step?
You talked earlier about how addiction to any phase always coexists with
    judgment. Why is that true?
Do we stay in 12 for a while and then go directly to 3, or are there
    other points in between?
How do I know what practice to do?
Ideally, over what time period should you pass through the cycle?
How does the idea of enlightenment fit into this model of the Brilliance
    Cycle?
When I meditate, I always feel like I could go deeper, that I have not
    really arrived.
I find it hard to accept what you say that shame and regret are also a
    healthy part of the cycle.
Why do we need 12? Can’t people just be creative anyway?
What about deeper trauma we have accumulated over a much longer time
    period?
You say that accomplishment will inevitably result in a feeling of
failure, shame and regret. That sounds a little pessimistic. Aren’t
there people who achieve great things in life and then feel really
satisfied with what they have accomplished?
I feel like there are tons of creative people who don’t necessarily
access infinite consciousness in the way you’re describing, and who don’t
    utilize practices in this way.

And Arjuna that state of mind-peace I believe is Radical Brilliance

Arjuna might like readers to take away with them after reading Radical

Brilliance ideas based on some of the people who have made lasting
impressions on him such as, Dawa Tarchin Phillips, a Western born
Tibetan Lama and a world recognized expert on mindfulness: we recognize
the importance of sitting quietly, each and every day, for the mind to
operate in its most brilliant way. We demystify sitting from the often
complex and onerous pressure of “meditation.”

We also discover that a great majority of brilliant people talk about

brilliance coming “through” them rather than “from” them and we posit
the question: If something is flowing through you, what is its actual
source? Although this question cannot be answered, we can evoke that
source, beyond the human mind, through activities which have been handed
down for millennia, known as prayer, devotion, and surrender.

We discover how going for a walk with a friend, or inviting people over

for dinner, with a particular intention and dedication can act as a
catalyst to bring out the most brilliant ideas in everyone involved

Arjuna Ardagh author of Radical Brilliance has shared many thoughts of

remembering and enhancing our natural state of living with infinite
potential and having all the resources within and around us to achieve a
fruitful and joyful life journey by moving beyond any limiting obstacle
and creating new patterns for success.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have become

familiar once again, with a part of ourselves ultimately connected to
the Universal Force of Life and Energy that encourages us to remember
our natural state of divinity and path to create lives of our own
making. Moving past the thoughts fears and limitations of others and the
patterns of our childhood or blockages, we achieve a sense of freedom
and liberation and know ourselves the world and Universe in a more open
minded way. During the process of remembering our soul brilliance we are
able to find peace and a new reality for what we wish to achieve in this
time and place or simply what we wish to experience and enjoy.

Arjuna wrote, “ Most people have an intuition of some magic ingredient

which, if it was found and added to their life, would make everything
okay. More money, better health, find your soul-mate, become
enlightened, the chapter explores all of them as well as the
disappointment which they usually yield. We recognize however that some
people are, in fact, deeply fulfilled, have lots of energy, and life
goes well for them in almost every way. When we reverse “engineer” what
we learn from these people we find that the magic ingredient has to do
with a strong sense of contribution and purpose.

Arjuna and I would have us all begin to share the passion sincerity

humility and vulnerability that brings a sense of gratitude love and
awareness to the most rewarding moments of life, and continue to
self-investigate from within our hearts, to find again and again, the
exhilaration of joy in simply being alive with hope and trust in the
    Universal Plan for us all.

  • THE HUMAN-ANIMAL BOND

Thank you for joining us on Healing From Within as our host Sheryl Glick

author of The Living Spirit Answers for Healing and Infinite Love
welcomes Dr. Kac Young a return guest to the show and author of her
newest book The supposedly Enlightened Person’s Guide to Raising a Dog.
Caring for a pet most especially a dog requires good people and
parenting skills as you are dealing with the personality and needs of a
living entity which should be done with affection compassion and
    kindness.

For listeners who would like to hear the last interview Dr. Young and

Sheryl recorded go to the radio page of Sheryl’s website
www.sherylglick.com and Click on 2017 and see the “Special Edition” in
December titled “Essential Healing Oils Support Physical Emotional and
    Spiritual Healing.”

As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her

guests share intimate sometimes unusual remembrances or events in order
to further understand the human and universal connection to life in all
aspects and to discover how to manifest and create health prosperity and
happiness through understanding and applying Universal Laws of Energy.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Dr. Kac Young a producer

writer and director in the Hollywood television industry merges
creativity and imagination with science and spirituality. She has earned
a PhD in Natural health and a Doctorate in Naturopathy. Dr. Young helps
clients with behavior modification, stress reduction, past life
regression, and phobia management and is the author of 15 books. She is
also a former pilot of private airplanes and is working on a black belt
in Aikido. She is a certified Medical Qigong instructor. Dr Young is
indeed like Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, a Vitruvian Woman, accomplished
and worldly. She is active on behalf of animal rights and we will
discuss how a dog’s personality and behavior mirrors our own, and how we
can strengthen love not only between us and our canine, but others as
    well.

Kac shares with us how her love for animals began when she was only nine

years old and that as an adult she had six cats to care for before she
was guided to become the guardian of a dog named Talulah. Previously to
adopting Talulah she had met through professional interactions the Co-
author of what was to become The (supposedly) Enlightened Person’s Guide
to Raising a Dog. Lisa Tenzin –Dolma who is the founder and principal of
The International School for Canine Psychology and Behavior and Kac come
from very different perspectives as Kac is a confessed cat person and
first time dog adopter. Kac tells us how at a fair one day she saw a
group of people with a table with Rescue animals that needed to be
adopted. Upon looking into Talulah’s eyes Kac felt a special connection
and did everything under heaven and earth to facilitate that she would
be able to take Talulah home with her. Knowing little about dog care, as
it is more demanding than caring for a cat, she called on the expert
advice from her friend Lisa in England and they decided to write a book
that would help owners of dogs appreciate the immense responsibility of
caring for a dog and encouraging that dog’s spiritual journey as well.

Kac tells us this is the book for an enlightened compassionate and

kindness based dog raising and training. She thinks many people are
probably unaware of what wonderful teachers and mirrors a dog can be and
how we really should relate to them, for our own health and development
    as well as for theirs.

Sheryl tells Kac that her request to discuss this book on “Healing From

Within” came in around the same time that Sheryl’s daughter was adopting
her first dog and both Sheryl and her children had little understanding
of the complexity of caring for a dog. Stacey, Sheryl’s daughter took
home a five week old puppy and as Kac tells us puppies can be more
challenging in teaching them house rules toilet training and moving pass
the anxiety of separation from their parent and litter. Sheryl as an
intuitive energy practitioner could sense little Rocky was anxious and
went to share some Reiki healing energy…the puppy immediately lifted his
head straight up eyes wide like a jolt of lightning had hit him and then
he quieted down and relaxed. In a few weeks when Sheryl visited again
and went to give him a Reiki touch he bowed his head in appreciation and
    gratitude.

Dr. Kac Young suggests that it is important to do some preparation in

deciding how to find the right dog for you and it can be complicated. We
all have different lifestyles so if you’re active and want a walking or
running companion an energetic dog would be a better match than a couch
potato who wants to sleep most of the time.

Think about why you want a dog…. A dog to snuggle or a dog who will grow

up with your children…a dog you can teach tricks to or what about a
working dog to carry out specific tasks.
How about your lifestyle? Are you immensely sociable love going out with
friends and having visitors? In that case your dog should be one who
enjoys lots going on. Are you quiet and reserved and prefer to stretch
out on the couch to relax read a book or spot of television. A chilled
out canine would be ideal for that.
What age should the dog be? Puppies are great fun of course and you can
shape the to an extent as they grow up but they can also be hard work as
you need to teach them house manners and ease them through the tricky
adolescent stage when dogs like teenagers tend to test boundaries. If
you buy an animal from a breeder make sure the pup has had the best
possible start in life. Older animals usually have learned house manners
and tend to settle in well but may come with baggage from difficult
pasts so it is important to gather as much information as possible
    before adopting.
Research dog breeds. All dogs have unique personalities but certain
traits are predominant in certain breeds. Knowing as much about the
breed of mix can insure the dog will be a good fit with your home and
    lifestyle.
The main points to look for are—General temperament Activity levels
Trainability and sociability with people and other dogs.
Ask questions Does he have any know issues such as pulling on the lease,
fear aggression or food guarding. Does he enjoy being stroked or is he
aloof, preferring to receive affection on his terms?
    Consider costs
Pet Insurance. Medical costs tend to be high especially if your dog
needs x-ray surgery of long term medication.
Settling In Important to give your time to find her way around and get
to know you and the new home. Nothing creates more stress at an already
scary time than being surrounded by lots of strangers. Avoid pressure on
her to interact and allow her to choose when to come to you for a
stroke. Reward all desirable behaviors with a treat. If she’s doing
something you don’t like please avoid chastising her and kindly call her
away and give her something appropriate to chew on.
Teaching dog her name. Call her name from across the room and from other
rooms Reward her each time she comes to you. Keep your tone of voice
    light and happy.
Toilet training… Should be started right away. If you have a yard take
her on leash and if she performs give her a treat. Give her times to
explore and find her spots. Indoors be on the alert for any signs that
she needs to go…sniffing circling looking restless and immediately act
on this. Toilet training is easy if you’re calm and consistent …Refrain
from getting upset if she has an accident quietly clean up If you’re
upset she’s likely to get anxious and look for places to hide.
Dr. Young with descriptive photos and important tips on basic everyday
issues for your new pet has chapters on a trip to your Veterinarian,
selecting a responsible grooming establishment, walking your dog and
meeting other dogs, proper nutrition and recognizing health issues and
ways to make a car trip easier on our dog.

Some dogs have trouble getting used to being in a car and there are ways

to make this process easier. While some dogs love riding in cars, others
find travelling horribly uncomfortable. If your dog is an anxious
traveler it could be due to motion nausea and of course she won’t
understand why the world is passing at a frightenly blurry speed while
she’s being shaken and stirred by bumps and turns in the road. One way
to relieve this is to cover the dog crate with a large cloth or sheet so
she can’t see all that is going on. You can also try putting a stuffed
toy and a Kong filled with light tasty nibbles to keep her happily
occupied. It should be tiny treats so the dog doesn’t choke. Bach flower
remedies can help. Scleranthus can help to relieve motion sickness. Just
add 2 drops of each to food and water twice daily before the long trip.
You can put a drop on your finger and stroke it onto the top of the
dog’s head. Some dogs simply associate being in a car with feeling
uncomfortable. Like humans dogs can remember a difficult experience and
be traumatized. Over time trauma can lead to health and emotional issues
so we want to try to be thoughtful and act in the best interest of the
    animal at all times.

Kac tells us for safety some dogs simply must be on a lease. Talulah her

dog has a mind of her own and a will of steel and will pull and be wild
on the walk even when on a lease. Most dogs given the opportunity will
race off to explore the world. This is not surprising. Dogs have to live
by our rules. They’re confined in the home and when they do go out for
walks they’re often restrained from roaming because they are on a leash.
Life can be boring to them if we don’t make sure to provide adequate
mental as well as physical stimulation and the outside world is an
exciting place. So how can you train your dog to return to you? You can
use extra tasty food rewards every time she comes when you call her
name. A game with a tug toy or ball can do the trick. Teaching recall
begins at home. Use a long training leash when you go out and practice
letting her move away to sniff and then periodically call her back to
get her reward.Your dog will be more inclined to walk alongside you if
there’s a reward in it for her.

The relationship you want to build with our dogs is one of trust and

mutual affection: once this has developed through using kind force free
methods and an understanding of dog behavior our dogs feel relaxed and
comfortable around us and given clear instructions will choose to do as
    we ask.

    OTHER DOGS

It can be uncomfortable unnerving and sometimes downright scary to be
forced into a position of having to protect our dogs. But we are our
dog’s guardians and champions and it’s our responsibility to keep them
safe as well as others in the environment too. Some dogs love the
company of canine fiends while others become anxious and scared if a
strange dog comes over to say hello. Social development skills begin in
infancy via interaction with littermates and introduction to new stimuli
noises and attention from visiting humans. Negative experiences with
other dogs such as being bowled over or attacked can lead to lifelong
fear issues so it’s vital to protect puppies when they first meet other
    dogs.

Canine body language is a complex and fascinating subject and it’s a

dogs primary mode of communication. It’s important for all dog guardians
to take the time to learn at least the basics.

You can then tell when your dog is happy worried afraid angry sad and

    take steps to help her.

Approached by a bouncy dog or one whose intentions seem unfriendly may

cause your dog to cringe, bark growl lunge or even attack.
Some owners are busy texting or chatting and their dogs may be off their
leash. Back off signals may be ignored..

Signals are retreating, leaning back, dipping is head, lowering body,

widening his eyes, flattening his ears raising his hackles, or stepping
forward and lunging, jumping up or barking…all this shows he needs space
and if he turns his head and looks distressed he doesn’t want to be held
    or petted.

OTHER BACK OFF SIGNALS When a dog is anxious about interacting she may

display a number of signals even if she doesn’t make a sound
    Moving away
    turning the head sideways
    looking away
    lowering the body and tail
    cowering
    closing the mouth
    panting
    pinning back the ears
showing the whites of the eyes whole eye
    lip licking
    yawning

As we humans are multidimensional beings mind body and spirit, our dogs

are multifaceted beings and may require more training and discipline
than a new dog owner can provide. Talulah went to school and worked with
a trainer. It is important to find a respected canine behaviorist and
trainer as some may use abusive methods. It is important for the dogs
human caretakers to attend classes so they may observe and use the same
    technique at home and consistently.

The trainer began with a simple “Sit” cue followed by a treat. Tululah

mastered “Sit” very well. The next command was “Down” with paws
outstretched. Down was a bit of a challenge. The subsequent five
training sessions consisted of the trainer training us and our dog in
the area of the cue….. execution…. Reward…. and patience for the number
of repetitions it might require for Talulah to connect the sequence of
action and behavior with reward. In the next set of lessons we learned
more about Wait, near sliding glass door or automatic doors. We learned
to stay on curbs and we learned to stay down and not jump up. We learned
to get down from furniture or places of danger. I learned the way a dog
thinks as well as insight into my role as a gentle guardian-rather than
a drill sergeant of my ward. Does the trainer use only force-free
science based methods of a mixture of aversive punishment discipline and
force free methods. If you feel your dog is being subjected to unkind
    treatment Walk Out.

We can make a visit to the Vet or groomer easier for our dog.

Veterinary clinics called surgeries in the UK can be stressful places

for dogs Vet clinics are filled with strange smells perhaps like a
hospital or doctors office for humans.

    SOME SUGGESTIONS

Giving your dog a chance to explore and observe can help her relax.
Ask for recommendations when looking for a Veterinarian and intuit which
    you feel would be best.
Keep the first visit brief and casual.
Take treats or a toy as a distraction and reward.
If your dog is very fearful a home visit might be in order.
Complementary therapies can help nervous dogs…Reiki???
As for finding a groomer there are some suggestions also.
Get recommendations Then take your dog to the groomer before booking the
appointment and see how the groomer interacts with her.. Most groomers
are dedicated to their work but not all. LOOK FOR – A groomer who is a
member of a recognized organization such as the National Dog Groomers
Association of America. Does the groomer have any dog behavior
qualifications. As an understanding of dog body language and behavior
means that the groomer will pay attention to your dog’s emotional state.
Are the dogs placed on tables with hanging collars…DANGEROUS… If not
supervised every moment WALK AWAY. Are heated cages used. Ask for cool
air to be filtered instead of hot air as it reduces risk of suffocation.
If your dog is nervous and groomer suggests giving light sedation WALK
AWAY Only the Vet should recommend Medication

Some foods that are toxic for dogs…Chocolate grapes currants raisins

nuts onions mushrooms hops salty foods yeast dough, uncooked Raw fish
Fish with bones Cooked meat bones especially chicken which might
splinter milk tea coffee anything with caffeine alcohol

How to Spot a Food Intolerance Symptoms include

Excessive scratching and itchiness especially soon after eating but can
    be prolonged.
An itch rear end-check for worms in this case-
An upset tummy diarrhea or vomiting, flatulence
Excessive face and muzzle rubbing after eating.
Dogs like people are emotional and can develop fears that lead to
illness. Kindness training, consistency, and time love and affection are
necessary for the dog to develop and reach their full potential. As we
know dogs communicate primarily through body language. it’s important
for we humans to “speak dog” so that we can decipher what our funny
friends are saying…. You’ll start to notice these and recognize how each
area of your dog’s body is involved in expressing the emotions being
    felt.

The (supposedly) Enlightened Person’s Guide to Raising a Dog is a

wonderfully detailed guide with beautiful pictures and loaded with
practical helpful information to understand the language emotional state
and needs of your dog so you can help him develop into the loving and
compassionate companion so well fitted with your family. For more
information and to purchase this book that every dog owner should have
go to In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have seen
how it is important to prepare well for bringing a dog into your home
and life and like having children there is much to learn in order to be
the guardian of a living entity and to treat a child or pet for the
unique beings they are. With consistency and patience helping your pet
to feel respected and loved and properly teaching them to have good
house manners, toilet training skills, successfully going in a car or
visiting a veterinarian groomer, are all done with knowledge and effort,
asking questions and for help when needed, and knowing the language and
behaviors of dogs so you can act appropriately in all situations.

Dr. Young wrote “ Impulse control is hard for dogs. They have to be

taught to wait for good things(we have to teach this to our children
too).Sometimes we react without thinking. A shout or sudden movement can
startle a dog, so one of the many things we dog guardians can learn
through the special relationship is to monitor our own emotional states
and responses and consider how these affect those around us human and
canine. It’s a horrid feeling when a beloved dog looks and acts as if
his world is falling apart which it is when we’re angry with him.”

Kac and Sheryl would have you remember that nothing in life is a

coincidence nor random and if you choose to have a family or adopt a dog
cat or other pet there is much to be learned from that choice and the
experience that follows. Hopefully clearer views of love and compassion
will be a big part of that special journey.

  • MIND BODY FEARS: RECOGNIZING A FEAR FREE MIND SET FOR SUCCESS

Welcome to Healing From Within with host Sheryl Glick author Life Is No

Coincidence: The Life and Afterlife Connection and The Living Spirit
Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which share stories of awakening,
spiritual communication, healing energies miracles and ways to use
intuition or connections to Universal Source for personal and collective
healing and today we welcome Dr. Emma Mardlin author of her new book Out
of Your Comfort Zone. Dr. Mardin is a former guest of “Healing From
Within” whose first episode can be heard on my website
www.sherylglick.com on the Radio Page for July 2018 where we discussed
    Mind Body Diabetes.

As listeners of the show are well aware Sheryl and her guests share

intimate experiences and insights into what appears to be a duality in
life or how the physical and energetic parts of life may come together
for an opportunity to discover our true nature as spiritual beings
having a physical life and working with fears and limitations in order
to conquer with courage resiliency and Universal Intelligence our
challenges. Ultimately we may shift to the best version of ourselves and
create greater positivity happiness and health.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Dr. Emma Mardlin will share

her own discoveries and ways to live with diabetes or any health
challenge as we open our hearts and minds to new ways to think of what
health happiness and living our best life is really all about.

When Emma is asked to remember her childhood and a person or experience

a fear or dream that may have been an indicator of the lifestyle or
interests in her adult life she instantly remembers how often she was
anxious sensitive and intuitive and realized she wanted to help people
    be healthy and happy.

In the beginning of Out of Your Comfort Zone Emma mentions her sister

and certain experiences that she feels were part of the person you
became. Emma tells of her fear of heights and missing out on going up
the Eiffel Tower…Sheryl also avoided that elevator ride to the top when
in Paris. Emma goes on to tell how finally being booked as a speaker and
finding out that it was at the top of a hi-rise…Emma did it because
there was no one else to do it and she pushed past her fear finding out
she was Ok just like the others and while she still might not like
heights, she can adapt and handle it if necessary.

Sheryl says that she also didn’t like flying or riding over bridges but

has conquered that fear by simply doing it over and over again, and
realizing that whatever and wherever we are, there is a plan and we have
no control over our destiny or the challenges or events we may face, but
worrying about it will certainly increase the odds of that fear or
thought to materialize. The Law of Attraction it seems.

Emma’s sister had an extreme fear of hospitals known as nosocomephobia

and it is more common than many people are aware of. It is the fear that
entering a hospital is a very scary proposition. Nixon was said to have
this fear and declared if he ever went into a hospital he would probably
    never come out of it.

To live a life beyond limits we must condition ourselves to examine

fears and see that the fear is sometimes worse than the actual event. If
we uncover why we may have that fear in the first place and realize it
is a memory from the past that can only be real again and problematic
when we bring it into the present moment and make it live again and give
it energy and life to disturb us again. Our thoughts when in alignment
with success and positive action conquer age old fears.

Plenty of behavioral psychologists will tell you there are no magic

words that can change the way about feeling anxious uneasy fearful.
These feelings can only be overcome by changing the way we behave. We
    have two choices:

Bottle it up and stay in your comfort zone

Dare to be different, create change, break boundaries.

    Three ways to do this:

    Screw it..Just Do it.

    Build Resilience
Extract the core root of anxiety or fear to reach zero zone.

The main idea behind this book is “Daring to be Different” thinking of

approaching things in a different way for different results, backed up
practically by the approval of “Doing something daily that challenges
you to build up a tenacious resilience. The idea is to challenge
yourself and positively embrace fear in order to ultimately confront and
conquer the biggest demons that hold you back from creating and living
    your most fulfilling life.

Sheryl says she remembers watching a movie once about Ninja Warriors in

Ancient Japan and the warrior said, “Conquer fear and you conquer
death.”Of course I know now as a medium that there is really only
eternal energy, no death only a transcendence of our essence from
physical life to afterlife, but, at the time that thought captivated me
as I wasn’t fully aware of this metaphysical reality.

Emma gives a quote that Sheryl liked alot by Nelson Mandela “I learned

that courage was not the absence of fear but the triumph over it.”

Using a quiz Emma gives a series of questions to help readers find what

zone they presently fall into and to guide them to reach “zero zone” for
the best way to rid themselves of limiting fears and for engaging life
in a more adventuresome positive way. The questions have no right or
wrong answers, just individual preferences that indicate to what extend
you display the common psychological attributes associate with pushing
boundaries. When you reach “zero zone” you will no longer have
boundaries or irrational fears that limit you from conquering or
squashing your challenges and moving ahead to satisfying solutions and
events. Dr. Mardlin also talks about foods you can eat to ease anxiety.
Improving our physical condition and relationships help to limit stress
and anxiety.Dr. Mardin says that we may be surprised to learn that what
you eat can make an enormous difference in terms of increasing or
decreasing anxiety level and to conquer fears as you certainly want to
do to avoid exacerbating anxiety and panic.

The term “comfort food” may be misleading and usually refers to

calorific high in sugar, fat and carbs or fast food which lead to
feelings of guilt and to physically feeling tired sluggish with brain
fog. These foods can increase lactic acid which creates anxiety.

Conversely, some foods increase serotonin, a positive feel good and

calming chemical. Other foods reduce levels of adrenalin and cortisol
    (stress hormones).

Foods to avoid include: Caffeine Simple Sugars Alcohol.

Also a correct level of B Vitamins is better for psychological health.

Interestingly a deficiency in B vitamins is often present in clients
struggling with agoraphobia or fear of enclosed public locations or
    crowded areas.

Foods Rich in B Vitamins: Leafy greens, whole grains, foods high in

calcium and magnesium, milk and dairy products sesame

Magnesium helps to regulate levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) So

Eat: Spinach Broccoli, Salmon, Halibut Flaxseeds, Pumpkin seeds

Helpful Hints for better sleep include some wholegrain toast before

bedtime which boosts serotonin and helps you sleep better. Drinking warm
milk also reduces muscle spasms and soothes tension.

Grapefruit oranges lemons are high in Vitamin C and help fight toxins

released by stress. Other helpers include nuts, avocados certain teas.

It’s interesting how to talk about there being so many different fears

and how fear can even be a good thing. It is important to examine
certain fears and the notion of fear itself. There are only two fears we
are born with: The fear of falling and the fear of loud noises.
Everything else we fear is a story we have created and hold onto in our
mind. Fear resides in all of us human or animal: we all instinctively
respond to danger with natural defense mechanisms when we instinctively
know we need to protect ourselves from harm. In these scenarios the
reptilian part of brain located in the brainstem and referred to as the
instinctive alarm center of the brain provides us with an instant reflex
action to protect us from harm before we have time to think and process
    what’s happening.

Other fears most people are aware of have been in one way or another

imprinted on us by another person or trauma we experienced in our
    childhood.

There is the fear of flying: aerophobia –you are more likely to become a

professional athlete or be in a car accident than a plane crash Fear of
thunder and lightning: astraphobia. Thunder not really dangerous and it
is rare to be struck by lightning as 90 percent of lightning travels
from cloud to cloud rather than reaching the ground

Fear of spiders arachnophobia. Only 12 out of 40,000 species of spiders

can cause serious harm to adult humans

Fear of dentist dentophobia. Modern dental techniques such as air

abrasion have replaced many traumatic treatments of past.

Physical effects associated with fear are many and serious in this New

Age Fast Paced Fear Generated Society. They include elevated blood
sugars, developing diabetes or insulin resistance, lower immune system
functioning, and inability to fight infections, headaches, lack of
concentration, trouble sleeping, depression, anxiety, panic attacks,
lack of energy, skin problems, fertility issues, muscle aches and pain,
increased cholesterol, heart disease, bowel Issues, allergies,
    heartburn, stomach sensitivities etc.

There are many helpful ways to deal with fear and retrain our minds.

Essentially taking control of your mind helps you take control of your
life and will help you determine your internal reality which will change
your external reality. Indeed, taking “Responsibility for ourselves” as
opposed to letting the outside world determine how you feel on the
inside, avoids creating a self-deprecating and self-limiting vicious
circle of defeat suffering and unhappiness.

All too often it takes something drastic for people to realize they need

or want change but you can make change instantly simply by starting to
see things differently. Our attitudes and perceptions create most things
that appear in our everyday life. The Law of Attraction states that
“like attracts like” So fearful thoughts and actions or chaotic thoughts
and dysfunction will draw those energies, people and events to you.
Confidence hopefulness and loving awareness of self and the world will
draw pleasant opportunities for improving life. The choice is always
ours. Act out of fear and that fear will present itself.

Dr. Emma Mardlin is keen on addressing the “Core Roots” and sharing how

confidence and resilience help put one into the space or comfort zone
She offers some fun suggestions to do this as well as The Staple Seven
    to Successful Results
Awareness that our Internal Reality is what creates our external
results. If we have a negative fearful mind set in our head we will
externally experience results in line with this thinking So choose to
create a positive internal reality and positive stories in your head and
remind yourself how you feel grateful for life. Choose to take control
rather than merely respond to the external world and let that determine
    your internal state.
A Positive Focus and Limited Refracting Period The refractory period
refers to the manifestation of negative emotions and let them fester
within we will be prevented from creating and living within positive
thinking and conditioning ourselves to focus on that and be in that
state of energy while still having a peripheral awareness of everything
    else.
Always Knowing and Feeling your outcome at the deepest core level
(Intuitive Gut Level) What is your aim- What do you want to achieve,
    focus on, spend time on.
Great Behavioral and Mental Flexibility There’s always more than one way
to get over obstacles and achieve your goals.
Self-awareness Physically and Psychologically How we think, our mindset
and beliefs physical bearing and manner verbal communication are all
interlinked. Maintain a psychology of Excellence.
Take Action and Test Things Out
Creating “Change windows”- Dare to be different- We can essentially
change our entire neurology sending different bio-chemical messages from
brain to body by thinking, feeling, and behaving differently.
Have fun with Creating Your Own List of Resilience Building and moving
past the thoughts and restrictions of your childhood or home life.

Fun Activities to stimulate personal development

Say Hello, how are you? And smile at 5 random people you don’t know.

Play a game with friends or challenge one to integrate funny or random
phrases into normal conversation like “Cowabunga,” It’s unbelievable or
“jeepers creepers” or “I don’t know Jeff” etc. People may laugh.
Strike up and amicable conversation with a stranger- either in person or
    by e-mail.
Be assertive and honest and speak out. Speak what’s on your mind-Go a
day with no subjugation. Push your boundaries
    Wear something different from usual
Make that phone call you’ve been putting off.
Have a complete mobile phone and social medial switch off for 24 hours.
    Liberating and certainly pushes boundaries.
    Travel alone
Buy a copy of the Big Issue on the street sold possibly by homeless
people and have a conversation with them.
    Meditate
Look at yourself in the mirror. Say aloud I love you and I enjoy what I
    do.
Use a different mode of transportation
    Surprise someone with something nice.
Start a new hobby or interest.

You can also make a list of things that personally scare you and write

    down the opposite. Example

    My Comfort Zone

    My Fear/Anxiety

    My Mission

Subjugating myself to Decision making and fear of Create my own project

Others or follow being wrong and upsetting people interests me Crowd.
Remaining behind Public Speaking Get involved with large group scenes
Networking Lead small group “Do the thing you fear the most and the
death of fear is certain “ Mark Twain

Dr. Mardlin would want readers of Out of Your Comfort Zone to take away

with them after reading her book that it all starts with what and how we
think. Many of our fears were part of our early childhood training and
societal patterning and most of it is now illusion and unrealistic for
us in our adult life: yet, we still have the fear in our thoughts and
must overcome the falseness of the thought. This is because our thoughts
affect our emotions and therefore our behaviors physical health and the
results we get in life. The fear isn’t always the problem.

We thank Dr. Emma Mardlin author of Out of Your Comfort Zone for her

infectious enthusiasm and search for treatment ideas and methodology to
understand and conquer many of the fears and limitations so many of us
carry from childhood and an awareness and techniques she offers to
successfully adapt with resilience and courage to all challenges with
hopes for living life bravely and boldly, not merely surviving but
    thriving.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have

discussed ways to understand our body mind and spirit and how our
psychological fears, whether real or imaginary influence the way we
approach all aspects of our life. We can learn to either move out of our
restrictive comfort zones or personalized prisons which do not allow us
to explore new options, possibilities, and talents which can mean we are
really living our lives, rather than remaining stuck in presumed ideas
thoughts attitudes and meaningless anxiety or stress.

We have discussed the ways to overcome our fears and how to use diet

exercise and relationships work and fun for creating balance and well
being in our daily activities and thinking with positive approaches to
    handling all stressors or challenges.

As Dr. Emma Mardlin wrote, “Deep down, most of us have an idea what we

want in life-these are our deep seated expectations, but they are on a
conscious, subconscious or totally unconscious (out of our awareness
level). The challenge is however, when we aren’t matching this in our
current life, or for whatever reason lose sight of it. One of the most
common things that block people striving to get what they want is the
fear of change, the fear of stepping outside their existing comfort
    zone, and entering the unknown.”

Emma and I would have you begin to look within and see that many of your

fears are simply the memory of childhood thoughts that in your present
day reality no longer really serve or affect you. In leaving fear that
does not serve behind, you enter the world of the Unknown and become
Aware of All that you are and will continue to be, as you say “Yes” to
opportunities and try new ways to explore life with enthusiasm.

  • ALCOHOL, DRUGS, YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN

In today’s episode of “Healing From With your host Sheryl Glick author

of Life Is No Coincidence and The Living Spirit which shares stories of
spiritual awakening communication healing energies miracles and ways to
develop and utilize your intuitive wisdom. Today I welcome Marc Treitler
author of Alcohol Drugs and You which his daughter Lianna worked with
him on in order to share their personal journey of success in dealing
with alcoholism and learning the actual facts to help young people deal
with challenges in their own lives and to make good choices to avoid
spiraling into a lifetime of addiction and suffering.

Sheryl directs listeners to the radio link of her website September 2018

www.sherylglick.com to listen to Marc discuss his first book Alcoholism
Is A Disease Let’s Treat It!

Listeners of “Healing From Within” have come to expect over the years

that Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences along with facts
and insights to help us focus on both our energetic presence and
physical life so we may begin to recognize Who We Are? and How Best to
create a purposeful healthy human and spiritual life journey working our
way past illness pain and suffering to health positivity and a
prosperous life with love and healthy interactions with family.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Marc Treitler a successful

corporate attorney loving husband and father and a recovering alcoholic
shares his total growing awareness of the effect alcoholism had on his
life until his recovery initiated by his daughter Lianna, along with
statistics and information the public needs to know about alcoholism as
a disease. Marc and his daughter Lianna are on a mission to reach kids
before they become statistics by learning the facts on the abuse issues
associated with alcohol and other substances.

When asked to think back to his childhood and remember a person place

event dream or thought that was important to them Marc tells us of his
first therapist who helped him understand how to deal with alcoholism
and gave him a ring telling him it was no coincidence they were here
together implying that a certain higher force was at work to support and
help Marc move past his own dependence on alcohol so he could help
others do the same. Perhaps he had to suffer to understand the
seriousness of the disease so he could have a calling and passion to
help others. Sheryl who believes nothing in our life is random is
delighted Marc realized the synchronicity of that first counselor as a
    gift from those above.

Marc also tells us about growing up in a family with a history of

addiction, Marc Treitler succumbed to alcoholism while in college.
Despite a successful corporate career Marc continued to drink until an
off- hand comment by his daughter woke him up to the damage his drinking
was doing to him and to the relationship he cherished. While in
recovery, Marc realized the power of information. It was while teaching
his children what he had learned in rehab that the idea for Marc and
Lianna’s book took hold. Today through books, speaking and their
“Rosebud Foundation” the Treitlers work to help young people stay
    alcohol and substance free.

Marc tells us something of the pressures that lead him to drink

excessively and also the fact that if alcoholism is in the family a
child is susceptible to activating the disease even from taking that
first drink. Marc suggests this book is for the person who decides to
read it as they are moving towards independence and an understanding of
their choices, challenges and the destructiveness of substance abuse
they may see around them, so they can equip themselves with what it
takes to avoid falling into its trap. In most families alcohol is a
normal part of entertaining. Many of us see our parents serve drinks to
their friends and observe their parents have a glass of wine or beer
before dinner. For many of us that is just a part of regular life, and
we are lead to believe we must follow this pattern. But for kids to
reach adolescence without having some exposure to adults drinking
    alcohol is nearly impossible.

What you may not realize is the potential for these substances to take

over your life and make you dependent on them forever.

Sheryl tells Marc that she just looked at an issue of US magazine and

opened to a page showing everyone holding a glass of wine or alcohol and
the caption was “Wine-Down Time” The media and advertisers have been
promoting a culture of abuse of all kinds: verbal sexual addiction and a
lack of respect for family values for a long time. The thought,
“Anything goes” which of course is not true, has become the mainstay of
our personal attitudes and behaviors. It must change for the many ills
of our cultural decline to improve.

Despite the volume of accumulated medical knowledge about alcoholism

many still think it is a choice. When does drinking stop being a choice?
Marc tells us drinking or any addiction stops being a choice when you do
not have the knowledge that might have stopped you from activating a
disease which once activated needs to be controlled for the rest of
one’s life. If our children are taught some of the following ideas we
might prevent many from becoming alcoholics.

By the age of 13 most kids are exposed to an opportunity to use alcohol

or other addictive substances and many fall prey to them. Some just want
to seem to be cool and be accepted by their friends and some want to
follow the example of someone they like or admire.
More families have members with alcohol-abuse problems than we might
think. In fact more than 30 percent of Americans have dealt with Alcohol
    Abuse Disorder.
It is estimated that one in twelve Americans has a substance abuse
    problem requiring treatment.
Half of all children of addicts become addicts themselves following in
the steps of their addicted parents even though they have seen the
misery that comes with the disease.
You may not know if you have this disease hiding in your genes. Remember
that like blue eye color this disease can skip generation so even if
your parents are not alcoholics your great grandfather may have been and
passed the alcoholic gene to you.
One thing is apparent many addicts have not been about the downside of
addiction or the disease hiding in their genes. Marc’s family genetic
tree included dozens of addicts and alcoholics which means that he had
    addiction in his genes.

We go on to define an alcoholic. According to the dictionary a alcoholic

is someone who uses alcohol to excess and becomes addicted to it to the
detriment of their health and well-being.

Marc writes, “Doctors politicians teachers and addiction specialists

have been talking about drug and alcohol addictions for the last hundred
years –even at one point legally banning alcohol—and yet the epidemic is
getting worse. From one generation to the next, the cycle of addiction
    worsens.”

An addict is a person who has a disease that makes it almost impossible

to stop using drugs or drinking alcohol on his or her own. If your
father drinks beer every night, he might have the disease of alcoholism
which is also a type of addiction. Experts say that addicts, while
unlike non-addicts are “allergic” to drugs and alcohol. This allergy
makes it almost impossible to stop drinking or using drugs once he or
she have started. While you are more susceptible to becoming an addict
if there is addiction in your family the truth is anyone can develop an
addiction. The addicts brain reacts differently to certain substances
than a non-addicts brain does. It’s like if a person has a peanut
allergy and begins to swell up after eating a single peanut while
another person has no reaction at all. The addict’s brain says, “Have
another drink.” While the non- addict’s brain says, “ Let’s go home.”
Remember we’re talking about a disease.

Children of an alcoholic are up to eight times more lightly to become

alcoholics than are the children of a non-alcoholic.

Sheryl goes on to say that we are at the present time seeing people

addicted to all kinds of stimuli: social media, food binging, shopping,
gambling as well as alcoholism excessive exercise practices, drugs pills
etc. All are symptoms of an unhappy state within a person and an
inability to recognize in some cases that they are using any repetitive
form of behavior as an escape.

Sheryl says , “Addiction unhappiness suicides and a general social

decline is at an all time high worldwide. The real problem begins with
not teaching our children an awareness of Universal Laws of Energy and a
metaphysical approach to understanding our spiritual as well as our
physical life needs. Sheryl goes on to share that our culture promotes
violence, abuse, and the theme that we are entitled to everything we
desire or immediate gratification. We are encouraged to believe this as
we see this on television, in the movies, in our music, and social media
and it is an unrealistic approach to finding happiness as it implies the
outside world is what brings happiness and the truth is happiness comes
from within with a greater love for Self and Life and workable
    sustainable values.

There are only two emotions in life and everything else falls into one

of the two categories…Fear and Love. Encouraging people to assess their
choices by seeing which side of the equation they are in at the moment,
as the body soul and mind are in a continual state always moving from
fear or unhappiness to love and happiness. Awareness and consciousness
of what is truly good for us as souls is what is needed more than ever
    during these challenging changing times.

The media is busy now talking about Toxic Masculinity and looking to

blame an entire group or half of the world population for the problems
we are experiencing now. But that is a truly unrealistic way to correct
what really is destroying our society…Economic and social injustice and
not learning tolerance of all people as they are, not as we expect them
to be. Looking to use labels to find answers to problems is ineffective.
We cannot simply talk about these problems but must discover and find
our way to wholeness, pass addiction, hatred, judgment and negativity.
KNOWLEDGE AND TRUTH ARE THE WAY.

Let think about the differences of similarities between alcohol and drug

use and abuse. We refer to both addiction and alcoholism which in
reality are the same thing. The disease of addiction uses both drugs and
alcohol to hook people. So, when we say either drugs or alcohol we mean
both. That includes illegal substances such as heroin and legal
substances you see advertised such as beer.

The brain of an addict does not care whether drugs or alcohol are

entering the addicts system. To your brain alcohol is a drug and drugs
are alcohol. For addiction, are drugs different than alcohol and the
answer is NO! An alcoholic dad is not different from a drug addict
living on the street. A woman hiding bottles of vodka is no different
than a man concealing his cocaine. For years Marc justified his
alcoholism by saying he never did drugs, yet he ended up in the same
rehab as heroin addicts. Whether a person’s drug of choice is heroine or
beer, anyone who is unable to stop using the substance is an addict.

Marc writes, “I know addicts who take only pills prescribed by doctor

and never drank alcohol, and has known addicts who only smoke marijuana
: they avoid beer. Yet they all ended up in the same place. An alcoholic
can easily transfer his addition to heroin because his brain treats both
substances the same way. To your brain, alcohol is a drug and drugs are
alcohol. So if your mom is taking too many pain pills, or your dad is
drinking too many beers, they might both be addicted.

Marc tells us that when we think of alcoholics or addicts we tend to

think of people whose lives are unproductive people who live on the
edges of society yet many alcoholics and addicts are talented
intelligent people and can still be successful while drinking yet still
they pay a price for diminishing their energy and often not feeling
their optimum best. It is indeed very common and often people work and
socialize with others having the same addictive issues, so it is denied,
overlooked, rationalized, and people function on the fringe of well
being not fully present happy or living their full potential for a well
balanced joyful life experience. It may be managed like many diseases,
but never truly understood or allowing for full disclosure.

It must be know that some people have a genetic predisposition to

substance abuse and others don’t. How and when do we know we have that
gene and what should be done in that case? Even without being tested for
the gene if you are in a family with a mother father sister uncle aunt
grandparent who has had an addictive lifestyle, it would be wise to
think you could have the predisposition or gene and simply never start
with any abusive substance including marijuana, cocaine, opiates,
heroin, beer, wine, liquor, crack, Benzoes, valium, or crystal meth,
bath salts, or other synthetic drugs It’s all poison

So if your mother father aunt uncle grandparent or great grandparents is

or was an alcoholic or drug addict you most likely carry the same
    predispositions for the disease.

This means you have two choices:

use drugs or alcohol and potentially become an addict or
never use alcohol or drugs and keep the disease away
I guess there is no specific age but you could start talking about it
before a party or an occasion where people are drinking. Children are
very observant and might notice how loud or unpleasant a person who is
drinking becomes. Marc says after going through a 28 day program at
rehab, I wish I had known about this when I was young. What if during my
college years I’d been told that I had a fatal disease and couldn’t
drink alcohol like a normal college student. What if I had known that
this disease was easy to avoid? And what about the rest of my family?
What if my sister and cousins had been informed that youthful
experimentation with drugs or alcohol would lead them to a lifetime
    struggle with addiction.

Sheryl goes on to tell Marc that she has heard President Trump on

several occasions say that he has never had an alcoholic drink. It seems
his older brother died from addiction alcoholism and other mitigating
factors and he told Donald never ever take a drink. Perhaps he
understood the disease and that there was a genetic predisposition to
becoming an alcoholic. President Trump may drink Diet Coke but not
    alcohol.

It may get easier to get kids to communicate with parents by doing

certain activities together. Perhaps watching television or a movie that
shows a family struggling with addiction divorce financial problems can
open up a pathway for some healthy talk. Listening to your children’s
concerns and observing when they are challenged or struggling with
understanding daily events or even tragic events.

Sheryl says, Recently there were two young fathers in my daughter’s

community that committed suicide. A sad time indeed for the families and
community, but also a good time for an open truthful talk of the
conditions affecting us all in these changing challenging times. A way
to teach your children that they can and must ask for help…Everyone can
    find help for their problems.

It bears repeating : non-addicts can drink alcohol and not become

alcoholics. People with alcoholism in their genes do not have this
luxury. One drink too many in high school or college could turn you into
an alcoholic forever. But your predisposition genetically may not turn
into a full blown disease. You have the control and now you have the
    knowledge.

There are signs for kids or parents to see a problem at home. Lianna

writes “During the years of my dad’s drinking my parents would often
fight. The words they would scream at each other would replay for hours
in my head and the sounds would echo in my mind until I fell asleep. I
would often pray that my parents would find happiness and that God would
blanket our house with His care and make the fighting stop.”

Sheryl says other signs to take note of would be to see how many bottles

were accumulating or disappearing, or if your parents seemed more tired
and unable to do their normal activities. Sleeping more, less care in
taking care of themselves, or the house, not paying attention to the
responsibilities they have, or attending important family or work events
are all signs that something is amiss.

Some of the ways you may tell if a member of your family is an addicted

    to alcohol or drugs.
Do your parents fight about the amount of alcohol or drugs one or both
    of them use.
Does either of your parents drink or use drugs every day?
Has either of your parents been arrested for driving under the influence
    also called a DUI?
Has your mom or dad lost a job because of drug or alcohol use?
Does your parent’s drinking or drug use result in odd or bizarre
    behavior.
Identifying an addict in your family tree will help you understand the
    disease you may face.

We are watching now as marijuana is being legalized in many states. Marc

and Sheryl are truly disturbed by how politicians are fueling and
pushing laws to legalize recreational use of this drug. Marc tells us
that only today a new study shows that marijuana diminishes cognitive
function and a loss of intellect or IQ points in our young people whose
brains are still maturing until the age of twenty five.

Marc addressed this situation by saying our country is in the midst of a

troubling trend of legalizing marijuana and on January 1, 2018
California became the latest state to make recreational use or marijuana
legal along with Oregon Washington Colorado and Nevada and virtually to
use this drug in the same way as alcohol is used. Sheryl says, ”I am
seriously disheartened to see the way local states are using this to
provide money. It is obvious they have no understanding of easy it is
for our children to become addicts and how these substances act
differently in the brains of one predisposed to becoming an addict.
Marijuana will only serve to be a gateway drug to other addictive
    substances.

Marc agrees with Sheryl that making marijuana legal is a horrifying idea

for our children and non productive for our nation, and in the end will
continue to cost us more to combat the opiod and drug crisis. There is a
massive amount of power and wealth behind this legalization effort, but
like other attempts to control populations this effort is consistently
incompatible with the well-being of our society. According to Arcview
Market Research’s 2017 report legal sales of marijuana are expected to
surpass $22 billion by 2020..suntan production in 2016 was only 1.6
billion…The increase in profits is all that matters here.

Here are a few legitimate statistics to bear in mind:

In Colorado the Colorado Children’s Hospital saw a 400% increase in
    marijuana intoxicated teenagers after legalization
The US Government via its National Survey on Drug Use and Health in 2013
found that people addicted to marijuana are 300 % more likely to become
addicted to heroin than those not addicted to marijuana
Yale researchers found that individuals who used marijuana in the past
were 250% more likely to abuse prescription pills than those who had not
    used marijuana
There are many more examples of statistics showing the damaging effects
    of marijuana
Marijuana has a few similarities to alcohol one being that tolerance are
built up over time for heavy users. The alcoholic and marijuana addicts
must use more and more of the substance to achieve the same results over
    time.
Marijuana is absolutely addictive and is the “ambition killer” in
people. In a socialized society like the Far Left Radical political left
is pushing for a disengaged and dying population would make perfect
sense. Getting high and chilling out is actually the death of creation
and positive life styles. We cannot allow government corporate interests
or the stagnant status quo leadership try to guide us to more control
over all areas of our life in the pursuit of making more profits. We
need an alert and educated population to protect our Republic and
    democratic way of life.

It is clear to anyone who has a love of life our country and young

people that this push for the legalization of marijuana gambling or any
dysfunctional activity is making money for the rich and a detriment to
middle class society. It must be stopped.

Parents must work to create an environment where competition and

parental expectations do not overwhelm their children and help our
children explore what they need to create happiness self esteem and self
    confidence.

Sheryl writes in her book The Living Spirit “When asked, “How can I find

peace and happiness in my life? This is the answer I give them: Before
there can be peace and happiness in a person’s life and in the world,
every person must be responsible to do their own work about
acknowledging what needs to change within their attitudes or actions so
that they may better relate to the outer world. Finding true happiness
and joy is the natural outcome of self-investigation. There are no
shortcuts. No one can make you happy or unhappy unless you give them the
power to do that by surrendering or giving your own power away.” Marc
tells Sheryl that thought is a strong message of AA and any rehab
    program..

Marc and his daughter Lianna suggest some tools or practices for raising

an emotionally healthy child. Have them engage in healthy activities:
sports, clubs, reading, family events, working for charities. And simply
talking to you and you asking them personal open ended questions…Really
listen beyond the words while watching body language and what makes them
change moods. Respect their opinions and if you can suggest other ways
of doing or perceiving events discuss that but don’t diminish their
feelings. Setting a good example by your own behavior is a must and
getting professional help if you see your child or any member of your
family or friends is running into trouble. Be very aware of limiting
time on social media and pay attention to theirr friends and the
families where they spend time. You probably don’t want them with people
who you know are alcoholics or show other addictive problematic
    behaviors.

According to the CDC our children are starting to abuse alcohol as early

as age 8 and the stats on young driver alcohol related deaths are
staggering. So why knowing this, is the country now set on a course to
make marijuana for recreational use legal. Sheryl says she has actually
spoken to many parents who feel it’s better than alcohol for their
children. They are so unaware of the consequences and problems. They are
just being feed talking points by the media and or political pendants.

Once there is an addiction problem the best solution is to begin

discussions and find a rehab program and counselor. Marc says in his
research he has discovered that addict families are less likely to
discuss serious issues than non-addict families are. Addict families
tend to bottle up emotions and often treat family issues with a “better
off not spoken” about attitude. But the reality is with drugs and
alcohol as available as they are these days and with so many
dysfunctional families, a conversation about the dangers inherent in
them is absolutely necessary. The average American child begins drinking
in middle school The conversation should start before that.

Marc would want readers to take away with them after reading your new

book Alcohol Drugs and You-A Young Person’s Guide to Avoiding Addiction
that there are four stages of alcoholism and other addictions. Addiction
is a progressive disease In other words over time it gets worse not
better. Alcoholics do not grow out of it.

    The stages are:

Experimentation/Adaptive Stage This often begins in the teenage years
Dependence People feel a physical and mental need to drink or use drugs.
They plan their social events around drugs/alcohol
Progression People lose control of their urges drinking more and more
frequently. Parents may neglect their children and make excuses In this
stage it is very common for a person to lose their job get arrested or
    get divorced.
Final Stage People who have not had help always end up going to jail,
living in a mental institution or dying. They cannot function without
the daily consumption of their drug of choice. People in this stage
often suffer permanent damage to parts of their body such as their liver
    stomachs lungs and brains.
Sheryl thanks Marc and Lianna Treitler for working to help others to
avoid falling into a lifetime trap of alcoholism or any other addiction
by beginning to recognize the behaviors and lifestyle that foster such
action. We learn that everyone is constantly moving from the negative
feelings of fear anxiety pain to the positive spectrum of life joy
happiness and positivity and every interaction and event lead us to be
part of that dynamic. When in pain and negative emotional states a
person is susceptible to finding relief and that is how an addiction is
born. A more open minded and open hearted approach to loving your
children and life are the ways for better communication and
understanding of individual needs which must be observed and then
    respected.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing from Within” we have touched

on a very serious concern in modern day American Society. In a world
where materialism and success is measured in monetary and socially
accepted ways to relate to the world, our children are losing bits and
pieces of their innate energetic or soul essence which naturally knows
that, life is good, and individual development of our personal needs is
necessary to bring joy positivity and success on a multi-dimensional
level, spiritual and physical world realty. We say we want our children
to be happy, but then expose them to conditions, rules, and our
expectations for choosing friends, hobbies, work situations, and even
how they spend their quiet free time. In other words our children are
either living with parents who monitor their every action, and control
their very thoughts, or living with parents who have their own societal
and emotional distresses, and are not present at all. It is in helping
all our citizens understand the nature of Life, and how to create a
better life by becoming aware of their thoughts actions and behaviors,
that we may begin to understand how our emotional well being is the key
to avoiding or conquering addictive behavior. It all begins with
education and our values, including an acceptance of people, and allowing
each of us to find our own path forward without so much judgment and
    restriction.

Marc Lianna and I would hope you know that no matter how challenging

your situation or problem may be, the first step on the road to knowing
yourself and loving life begins with asking questions, observing
patterns, building self-confidence, self-love, and asking for help when
needed. Before you know it, life improves and there is a way past the
    darkness to light.

  • HEAL EMOTIONAL EATING – HEAL YOURSELF

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” your host Sheryl Glick

author of The Living Spirit which shares stories of awakening, spiritual
communication, healing energies miracles and a guide to soul development
and soul maturity welcomes Tricia Nelson author of Heal Your Hunger
which offers seven steps to understand and end emotional eating. Our
physical challenges most especially lead us to a greater unfolding of
our spiritual talents and gifts and offer ways to master our physical
    and energetic emotional needs.

As listeners of Healing From Within have come to know over the years

that by listening to the intimate experiences and insights of my guests
there is a way to better understand and utilize events and challenges
not as problems but as gifts to explore our experiences so we may find
ways for better outcomes no matter how difficult it seems at the moment.
Improving life, enjoying life more and finding peace and contentment in
the moment is not only possible but probable with the right attitude and
set of tools to heal on a physical emotional and spiritual level.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Tricia Nelson who lost fifty

pounds by identifying and healing the root causes of her emotional
eating and has spent over thirty years researching the hidden causes of
the addictive personality learning that food addiction is one of the
toughest addictions and is symptomatic of deeper issues. In twenty five
years of helping Americans upgrade their diets she has seen how many
misconceptions there are and how overweight individuals harm their
physical and emotional state of being often causing pain loneliness and
self-sabotaging views that limit their perception and potential to
    thrive.

As Tricia thinks back to her childhood and remembers people and events

she provides a clue to her own self development and the interests work
and life style she is living now as an adult. Sheryl believes we are
born with goals for what we wish to explore and learn on an inner soul
level and from early on the awareness is there for us and others to
witness as it reveals itself through our challenges and often fears.

Tricia writes, “I grew up as a fat girl, which was very painful. I hated

my body. My tummy was one big roll of fat that I would scrunch up and
hold in my hands—with disgust. I imagined slicing it off in the same way
that my dad would slice the fat off the edge of a steak! I would also
fantasize about getting some kind of disease that would make me lose
weight without trying, or joining the army so I’d be forced to exercise
at Boot Camp. (I hated exercise, so this was the only way I could
imagine myself doing it.) I also had a lot of fear. I was terribly
afraid, even though I didn’t really have anything to fear from the world
around me. I grew up in a good home in Concord, Massachusetts. My
parents were happily married and provided well for us, and we traveled
and spent summers in Maine. It was all good—on the outside. But inside,
where I lived, I was hurting.

Of course, I wasn’t always aware on a conscious But under that happy

facade, I was burying pain and shame that I couldn’t talk about with
anyone. Like the sexual abuse from a relative when I was young. That was
a dark secret I kept entirely to myself. Then there was the
embarrassment over being so fat that my legs chafed when I ran, being
afraid of the dark, and masturbating compulsively whenever I was alone
in the house. I couldn’t open up to anyone about any of this. When I was
fifteen, my oldest sister told me she ate because of her emotions. I
thought that was the craziest thing I’d ever heard! I just liked food.
Yet the seed was planted, and over the next few years, I began to notice
that my relationship with food wasn’t normal.”

Despite my preoccupation with food, I did okay. I was elected president

of my high school; I played varsity sports; I got good enough grades—I
did everything I was supposed to do. I was accepted to one of the top
colleges in the country. Everything seemed good on the outside . . .
except for my weight. After two years in college, I decided to take time
off from school and move to the other side of the country. I realize now
that I was just trying to get away from myself and my family. I had a
lot of unresolved issues with my family— mostly resentment and anger—and
I thought that by moving away geographically, I could leave it all
behind. Well, anyone who has tried knows that it doesn’t quite work that
    way.

By the time I moved, I had reached 170 pounds. I continued with the

twelve-step program, and this time I sought help from an eating-disorder
therapist, By now, I had a whole shelf of self-help books and workbooks.
I always held out hope that just around the corner there was something
that would work for me. And yet, nothing I tried was doing it for me—and
I tried everything. Of course, I learned a lot, but all the knowledge in
the world couldn’t stop me from bingeing. The compulsion and obsession
    with food just wouldn’t stop.

We know that Ninety nine percent of all diets fail… and here are some

facts Tricia provides us with so we can begin to focus on what really
needs to be done in order to be healthy and be a healthy version of
    yourself.

Sure, we’ve all met someone who went on a diet, dropped ten or twenty

pounds, and never looked back. Or that one in a million who struggled
with their weight, picked up an activity such as, say, marathon running,
fell in love with it, and completely changed their body and their life.

But those success stories—the verifiable ones, anyway—are exceedingly

rare. How do I know? Well, here are a few statistics worth pondering:

Close to 70 percent of American adults are either overweight or obese.

(That’s seven out of ten people.)
Each year, about 45 million people in this country go on a diet.
US consumers spend $109 million every day on diet and weight-loss
    products.
Annually, weight loss is a $60 billion industry.
Right now, on Amazon, there are 65,000 weight-loss books and 365,000
    fitness books.

And yet, 98 percent of all diets fail. That means that out of every

hundred people who go on a diet, only two will lose weight and keep it
off. Of course, you probably already know something about that.

People keep dieting even though intellectually they know diets don’t

work. In fact, you will be comforted by reading this book even if you’re
not overweight but still have issues with food or weight. Tricia tells
us this book is for you if you ever grapple with . . .

    binge eating

    restricting
    purging
    regurgitation
    constant dieting
    food obsession, or
    exercise fanaticism.

Tricia goes on to tell us that these problems may all seem different to

you, but they all involve an obsession with food and weight. They all
reflect various phases of control (or lack of it). And usually, anything
that must be controlled is already out of control. So the compulsion to
overeat is what drives all these people, no matter what their body size
or eating patterns. Wherever you fall on the disordered-eating spectrum—
whether you’re a restrictor rationing bites of your favorite treat, or a
binge eater consuming volumes of food in one evening—you are manifesting
a symptom of one overriding issue: emotional eating. And solving it is
about much more than changing what you eat, the way you eat, or how much
you weigh. WHAT IS EMOTIONAL EATING?

Put another way, emotional eating is using food to meet needs beyond

physical nourishment. What kinds of needs?

SOCIAL NEEDS Emotional eaters use food to feel better when they’re

lonely—for example, if we’re alone after a breakup, or at home feeling
bored on a Saturday night. We also use it when we’re anxious and
uncomfortable around other people—say, at a party or social event. We
use food to give us a boost of confidence when we’re feeling insecure,
in the same way that an alcoholic uses “liquid courage.” For many of us,
food made us feel more jovial and outgoing—right up until it backfired
and made us feel isolated and separate. Food was the social lubricant
that made getting along in this world seem easier. (Again, until it
ultimately made everything much, much harder!)
EMOTIONAL NEEDS Emotional eaters use food for comfort and companionship.
Dealing with people isn’t easy for us, so we resort to the ease of
getting emotional support from something that never seems to let us
down, never rejects us, and is always available: food. Food is not only
a loyal friend, but a protector as well. For those of us who have been
sexually abused, food seems to protect us from the attention and
unwanted advances of others. We literally build walls of fat to keep
people away for years, sometimes decades. Ultimately, though, those
walls turn out to be a prison instead of a fortress, keeping us trapped
in a private hell that we fear we may never escape.
MENTAL NEEDS Emotional eaters often suffer from an “overactive” or
“racing” mind. We use food to distract ourselves from all the thoughts
and worries that keep us worked up and on edge. Our mind dashes at warp
speed in all directions, and we can’t slow down no matter how many
things we try. Settling down with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and a box of
shortbread cookies often does the trick—at least, for a few hours. When
we’re drunk on food, we can forget the cares of the day. We numb out and
    aren’t bothered by anything.
SPIRITUAL NEEDS It may surprise you how many emotional eaters are
spiritual seekers. We have spent years exploring spirituality and trying
to make a connection that can bring us comfort, lessen our fear, and
help us control our eating. We have a deep craving for meaning, for an
understanding of our greater purpose, and for a feeling of oneness and
well-being. And because we don’t know how to achieve this, we resort to
food—at first as an attempt to satisfy that yearning, and eventually to
forget that we ever felt that yearning to begin with.

Of course, emotional eaters come in all shapes and sizes; but we have

this in common: we use the obsession with food to treat our emotions.
Whether you’re heavy or thin, male or female, gay or straight, you use
food, in some way, to stuff your emotions.

When we awaken to the truth about why you overeat, we can finally stop.

What’s really going on when you feel hungry We can identify and adopt
new ways of feeding ourselves—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
You can heal your hunger for good and any other event or pain or
unhappiness that added to the problem and your loss of self spirit and
trust because of what others may have done to you.

The end result of all this chaos is that you must eventually feel

uncomfortable in your own skin so the battle with food or any other
    addiction is won.

Tricia was fortunate to find a teacher who pointed her in the right

direction so her thinking could evolve and she could make progress on
the road to well being. The person who gave me a new outlook on how to
view any problem in life was Roy Nelson. I scheduled a time to meet with
him and actually drove to another city that very day to visit with him.
And though it may sound dramatic, my life has never been the same since.
Roy taught me about this terrible condition that is food addiction. He
showed me, clearly and indelibly, that all my efforts to lose weight,
when they came from the outside (diets, gyms, pills and potions, even
therapy and twelve-step programs focused on food and weight loss), were
    never going to save me.

Roy told me that food was not my problem, and neither was weight. These

were just symptoms of my problem. And I had to admit that deep in my
heart, I knew this, because I had proved it over and over again through
my many failures. The methods you’ve tried over the span of your
lifetime haven’t worked, for the simple reason that they couldn’t work.
They weren’t designed to deal with the problem you’re suffering from,
which has nothing to do with food. Realizing she had the power within to
discover why food provided such a comfort zone for her and releasing any
fear guilt or sorrow was the way she begin anew to enjoy life. She found
her way forward past the limitations and unresolved problems of past
events to free her mind and body from fear.

Tricia offers an excellent Three Meal Magic Plan

That’s the logic behind Three-Meal Magic®. The three meals are there to

make sure you get the nutrition you need, on a predictable schedule. But
since dealing with hunger is a huge challenge for emotional eaters, this
plan is also designed to help you experience and get comfortable with
the feeling of an empty stomach—and maybe even a few hunger pangs.
Because, for emotional eaters, this is a positive (and essential) step
    toward healing.

That’s the main difference between other experts’ advice and mine. They

don’t always take into account the emotional reasons that motivate our
eating habits; they focus more on what we’re eating. So while they may
provide us with good nutritional advice, that advice will only help us
deal with what we eat, not with

THE THREE-MEAL MAGIC® PLAN So just what is this magical plan? It’s quite

    simple, really:

Eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at roughly the same time every day.

Make your own meals whenever you can.
Make all three meals generally equal in size or calories so that your
body becomes accustomed to that amount of food at each meal.
Allow thirty to sixty minutes for each meal, and take that time to enjoy
    it.
Wait four to five hours for the next meal, and don’t eat at any time
other than mealtime. In other words, NO SNACKING!
Stick to your schedule. Don’t plan appointments when you normally have
lunch, or decide to go to a movie when you usually eat dinner.
Get up early enough to sit down and eat breakfast before you start your
    day.
Make sure your meal is peaceful and quiet. Avoid distractions, such as
people talking or coming and going, dogs barking, or children
squabbling. Obviously, you can’t control everything, but do what you can
to create a calm, peaceful environment where you can enjoy your meal.
Try not to get up and down when you’re eating. It’s stressful and also
bad for your digestion. Make sure you have your condiments, salt and
pepper, water, and whatever else you need at the table, before you sit
    down to eat.
Don’t answer the phone. Better yet, turn your phone off.
Eat consciously. Always eat sitting down and stationary—not in your car
(unless you’re parked), on the bus, on the subway, on the train (unless
you have a seat and twenty to thirty minutes before your stop), and
don’t eat when you’re walking. Don’t watch TV (especially news) or read
while eating. Or, if you need to read something, make it inspirational
literature, not gossip magazines! Feed your soul while feeding your
    mind.
Inhale air, not your food! Sit up straight and breathe so your face
isn’t hovering over your plate. Put your fork down between bites and
take a breath. This will slow you down and help you digest your food.
Don’t drink a lot of water during your meal (a glass of room-temperature
water is okay if you have challenges with digestion), and wait at least
an hour before you begin to drink liquids. Water dilutes the digestive
enzymes you need to digest your food.

WHEN THE GOING GETS HARD . . . Three-Meal Magic® is easy: eat three

meals a day, every day, at the same time, and nothing in between. But
just because it’s easy to grasp doesn’t mean it’s easy to stick to,
especially in the beginning. This plan is about progress, not
perfection. Learning to deal with your emotions and practicing effective
self-care will certainly help you make that progress. When even that is
    not enough—

One of the biggest myths adding to the problem of emotional eating is

the fact that the “diet and exercise” solution is regarded as
irrefutable conventional wisdom. This is what the doctors have to offer
us. And they’re the experts! It makes perfect sense, right?

Consume fewer calories and burn more—this is how you lose weight. It’s

simple arithmetic unless you happen to be an emotional eater which most
people struggling with weight are, whether they realize it or not. Not
that the advice to eat less and exercise more is wrong—it isn’t.
Physiologically, that is how one loses weight. But when you’re an
emotional eater, when you are addicted to food, you can’t “just eat
less.” That’s like asking an alcoholic to simply “drink less.” If you
know anything about alcoholics, you know how well that works!

We can differentiate between physical and emotional hunger. While the

mechanics of physical hunger are no doubt interesting, they are of only
limited use to the chronic emotional eater. Tricia’s experience is that
the emotional eater’s solution lies primarily in the emotional and
spiritual realm. Still, we do need a rudimentary understanding of how
our bodies respond to the physical condition of hunger.

Hunger starts when certain nutrients are missing from the bloodstream. A

message goes to the hunger center in our brain, via the “hunger hormone”
known as ghrelin, which is released from our gut when we’re low on
nutrients and need to fuel up. Ghrelin, discovered only in 1996, is a
complex hormone that controls not only appetite but also the storage of
fat. Our bodies also release it in response to stress, stimulating our
tendency to stress-eat. When our blood has enough of the needed
nutrients, our hunger center stops getting ghrelin signals, and we no
longer feel hungry. At least, that’s the way it’s supposed to work.
Unfortunately, ghrelin is also released when we see an attractive slice
of cake, so it’s not a particularly discriminating hormone!

Now, if you’re an emotional eater, you don’t even need the potent combo

of ghrelin and cake to feel hungry. Your hunger center may never even
need to send a signal that your body needs nutrients. Because if you’re
one of the many people who use food to self-anesthetize—to deal with
stress, fear, exhaustion, and loneliness—your body may have incorporated
a tendency to feel hungry as part of your physiology. And it may also
stop getting the message when you’re full. That means you’ve trained
your body to respond to a negative state by yelling, “Feed me!”

The profile of an emotional eater:

DEEP FEELINGS Emotional eaters are, well, emotional! We feel more deeply

than the average person. When we hear sad news, it hits us hard. When
people we love are hurting, we hurt, too. When we love, we love deeply,
and when we hate, we hate vehemently. Life often feels like an emotional
roller-coaster ride, so food becomes a means of balancing out the highs
and lows. We are emotionally absorbent, so everything seems to hurt. And
we turn to food to dull the ache.

OVERSENSITIVITY Do you get a lot of comments such as “You’re so

sensitive,” or “You wear your heart on your sleeve”? You might think
you’re somehow wrong or bad because of it. Well, guess again. You’re
not. You’re just sensitive. I tend to believe that as emotional eaters,
we were born this way, but experiencing pain in our childhood can make
us extra sensitive, as well. Of course, growing up with a weight problem
and feeling different or rejected because of it can also make us feel
like a walking pincushion. Being sensitive can be a good thing, but
because we haven’t had proper tools to deal with our emotions, it has
    mostly been a liability.

FEARFULNESS Everyone feels fear. It’s a normal human emotion that we all

    experience. But

EMOTIONAL EATERS HAVE A LIVING PROBLEM, NOT AN EATING PROBLEM.

Emotional eaters usually have an enormous amount of fear: fear of

drowning, fear of strangers, fear of monsters under the bed or in the
closet, fear of the worst possible things happening. Does any of this
sound familiar? Whatever your specific fears happen to be, they erode
your sense of well-being and ultimately drive you to eat. When you feel
constant, underlying anxiety, you search for something to ease the
tension. That’s a lot of what all that nibbling is about. We’re trying
to quell those nameless fears and anxieties that persistently haunt us.

The number one weight loss mistake we should never make is we must

accept the fact that diets aren’t sustainable. If you go on a diet, you
must eventually go off the diet. Weight loss has to be a natural result
of needing less food emotionally, combined with an organic desire to
treat your body and mind in a healthier way. If it isn’t, then it’s only
a matter of time before you break out and return to your old patterns.
The change in eating habits has to come from within.

And the “exercise more” part of the equation isn’t any easier.

We should not think it is really about the food. The biggest cause of

emotional eating is stress, and the biggest cause of stress is a lack of
self-care. How can lack of self-care be the culprit? What about all the
burdens on our time and energy that always seem to befall us? Aren’t
they really the culprit? Well, in a word, no. Because life happens to
all of us. It’s how we handle life that determines our success or
failure. And the best way to handle life’s pressures is to be sure that
we are rested, properly fed, emotionally supported, and spiritually
nourished. And by spiritual, I don’t necessarily mean religion. I mean a
sense of well-being at your very core. If this has been a struggle or a
block for you, stay with me. So often, people focus on the physical
aspects of self-care, such as diet and exercise, but neglect the
emotional and the spiritual. And yet, without addressing our deepest
needs, we won’t be able to sustain any physical changes we make.
Because, remember, emotional eaters use food for reasons far beyond
physical nourishment. We use it to treat our erratic emotions, stress,
and frustrations. So we need to find a better treatment than overeating.

The only way to get good at proper self-care is to practice proper

self-care. Look at your calendar and see how full it is. Check out your
to-do list and see how long it is. Is there anything scheduled that
includes relaxing, being quiet, having time to just chill? Is there
anything on your list that you can delegate to someone else? Self-care
doesn’t happen all at once. It’s cumulative.

The six self-care practices are meditation walking talking prayer

reading writing. These practices will help lower stress and increase
confidence and a feeling of coping with all situations more readily.

There are things people can do today to begin changing their

relationship with food . Ultimately, it becomes clear that you have to
heal at a deeper level, that just below the surface of overeating and
weight gain where there is a lot of pain. And without addressing it, I
would be consigning myself to a lifetime of struggle.

Therapy is valuable because it can help a person open up about their

problems in a confidential setting and, hopefully, identify solutions.
The main benefit is the revelation part of the process—you become aware
of your actions and feelings during therapy so that you can then make
    changes in your behavior.

The problem is, when it comes to food addiction, awareness is not

enough. Being aware of something on an intellectual level does not
produce healing on an emotional level. The fears and patterns behind our
behavior don’t get better just because we understand them. This is
primarily because these deeper issues are lodged within our subconscious
minds, and we can’t change our subconscious with intellectual
understanding. The subconscious mind can be changed only by means of the
heart, which is the threshold of the subconscious. Deep within the heart
lie our hopes and our aspirations, feelings of deep love as well as all
the fear and pain we have buried over our lifetime.
Connect to your heart or inner intuition To move beyond intellectual
reasoning about a problem, to an experience of deeper healing of that
problem, we must have access to the heart. And in my experience, we can
access our hearts only when we feel deep safety and love.

Yes, even in the scientific community, there is a growing consensus that

prayer is powerful. Still, you may be wondering whether you need to be
religious or believe in God to pray or to benefit from prayer. The good
    news is, you don’t.
Prayer is actually nonsectarian. This may sound funny, but it isn’t
necessarily Christian or Jewish or Muslim or Buddhist. Indeed, it
doesn’t revolve around any particular doctrine at all. It’s something
you can do anywhere, at any time of the day or night. And it is a very
personal experience—simply a statement of truth or of gratitude to
something that is greater than you. The most universal prayer there is,
    is “Help me

Sheryl says she believes being healthy means more than being thin. Some

people are large and there are different body types. Taking medication
and hereditary factors are often part of a person’s proclivity to put on
weight and if the gut or digestive system is compromised weight gain and
inability for weight loss will be difficult. Emotional and physical
factors are part of understanding health issues and weight issues. I
think we try our best to arrive at a healthy body weight but should not
exaggerate thinness as the only way for happiness acceptance and love as
the media and even some professionals do, for some people will quite
literally never be thin. We must try our best to be healthy in body mind
and spirit and in societal viewpoints.

Tricia would like people who read Heal Your Hunger to remember “It’s so

easy to believe that the food and the weight are the problem and that
losing weight and stopping your overeating is the solution. But if you
focus on losing weight or controlling food, you’ll never lose weight or
get control of food. It’s counterintuitive, I know. But after being on
this road for decades and helping hundreds of others along the way, it’s
her experience nonetheless. Being overweight is a symptom of overeating.
And overeating is a symptom of what’s eating you?

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Tricia Nelson

has shown us through her own journey exploring her inner life and events
of childhood she was able to discover reasons for emotional eating and
was guided to find a way to feel more comfortable with herself, life and
create an environment of acceptance rather than fear doubt denial and
pain. Emotional Eating is the way the soul forces food down to hide or
disguise the real issues that our subconscious has not been willing to
face and it is only by awareness acceptance and surrendering to the
beautiful aspects of ourselves and life itself, that we can begin to
feel at peace and find love….of life, of self, and of others. All
addictions are based on trauma and the same inner discontent or fear of
surviving in a world that often judges and limits us from exploring our
true nature as souls having a physical life who have unlimited potential
to shine share and enjoy the physical and the energetic mysteries of
    life.

Tricia wrote, “Emotional eaters are typically afraid of feelings. When

we don’t have food in our belly, we tend to be more sensitive and more
aware of what’s going on inside. We’re more aware of sadness,
loneliness, fear, anger, dread, and other hard-to manage feelings. Even
happy, joyful feelings—which, strangely, are sometimes harder to face
than the dark ones—can be overwhelming, especially when we don’t feel
worthy of feeling good. To be free of emotional eating, you must address
the hidden problems that cause it: the underlying pain that you use food
to numb, the fears that make you want to escape, and the guilt you
harbor inside that makes you believe you deserve to be punished. When
you address these hidden, underlying causes, they will no longer drive
    you to overeat.”

Tricia and Sheryl would have you employ the tools of self- awareness,

self-care and self-love to begin to empower your life and find your way
past “any” addiction to feelings of well being and delight with the
world as it is, and you as you are, and find that all is right for self
discovery self-actualization and the realization that life is a gift to
be enjoyed and lived to the best of our ability.

  • NINJA SKILLS FOR EMPOWERING UNIVERSAL AWARENESS
In this episode of “Healing From Within” your host Sheryl Glick author
of The Living Spirit Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which shares
stories of spiritual awakening and communication healing energies
miracles and developing intuition and universal awareness is delighted
to welcome Anthony Cummins author of Ninja Skills a leading expert in
the discovery of the military arts of medieval Japan.

Listeners of “Healing From Within” have come to expect over the years

that Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences and insights into
human nature starting from our early beginnings history and an
exploration of the world of energy and physical existence. In doing so
we come to know ourselves and how we may better relate to the challenges
of our individual and collective life experience and find a pathway to
peace health and happiness through consistent seeking of higher
    consciousness and self-awareness.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Anthony Cummins will share the

long valued martial arts techniques and how the discipline respect and
love of culture family nation and Spirit were and are the basis of
finding truth and a greater love of life. There is indeed much to learn
from the ninja, Japan’s devious and courageous spy-commanders who
followed a highly skilled and dangerous path. We will discover key ninja
concepts and apply ninja strategy to understand surroundings and survive
    all challenges.

Anthony shares with us that his interest in the way of the ninja began

very early for him. One day asked by his grandfather what toy he would
select he chose the ninja over the toy soldiers and his interest in the
ancient way of the Japanese Samauri and Shinobi/ninja and the tools of
war and peace remained important to him.

He goes on to tell us that it is known that the ninja is thought of as a

warrior and practices martial arts but there is a profound spiritual
foundation and implications of that ancient way of life. Kyojitsu is a
concept at the basis of the shinobi mindset and sets us a spiritual
state of mind. Kyojitsu’s meaning is that which is insubstantial (kyo)
carries connotations of falseness emptiness untruth deception weakness
and unpreparedness. On the other hand, jitsu means that which is
substantial and represents truth, fullness, correctness, honesty
strength and preparedness. The art of the shinobi lies in telling the
difference between the two qualities. In the image of a fan the fan is
substantial and true, while the shadow of the fan is insubstantial and
untrue. We can apply this concept to warfare. If a military force places
a thousand men in the battlefield is that the whole force (Jitsu)? or is
there a hidden force in the shadows (Kyo) waiting to ambush. Similarly
shinobi working undercover to gather intelligence from the enemy must
always question whether the information they have received is true or in
fact false and planted by the enemy in order to misguide.

Sheryl says, “It sounds like what is going on now in Congress in the

United States and between the political parties and the media. There is
so much information and personal objects at play and so much reality TV
and fake media. We would hope all citizens would use their intuition and
watch and wait for results, not insinuations judgments or accusations
before talking about or making any judgments on what is being presented.
The truth will find its way in what is actually seen to work for the
good of the many not the best for the few.” Ninjas used astrology and
other ancient tools to assist them in making decisions for the time and
place of many of their actions and for success.

Andrew goes on to tell us about the concept of “The Way” and how we can

tap into it today. “Spanning a millennium from the 9th to the 19th
century the age of the samurai was a glorious chapter in the chronicle
of Japan. The samurai observed a refined and precise etiquette in all
their activities from the taking of tea to the taking of enemy heads.
This emphasis on the right way of doing things continues to exert a
powerful influence in modern Japanese culture.

Nestled within a samurai force, yet standing apart from, it lurked the

shadowy shinobi, the infamous ninja agent. He was the commando, the spy,
the betrayer. While standard samurai found lying and cheating repugnant,
the shinobi were not bound by such scruples. They too followed an
ethical code but they considered duplicity to be acceptable as long as
it was used in the service of their lord. The shinobi soldier would
often integrate himself within the enemy sharing in the rhythms of
everyday life and steadily gaining their trust but all the while hiding
a malign intent. He was a foul demon obeying the bidding of his gods,
enabling plans of his lord to bear fruit

Sheryl says…”I cannot read what Andrew wrote without thinking of the

recent IG Report of the failures within the FBI agency and thinking that
perhaps there are two kinds of law enforcers: those like the samurai and
the ninja. We also recently found out that there may have been spies or
informants put into the 2016 Presidential Election by the FBI who was
run by the executive office or last president. They may have been loyal
to the last administration and thought their allegiance was with that
leader but in a democracy there are no Lords to obey only the citizens
of the country who elect their leaders for a limited term of involvement
and when that is over the new leadership must be respected protected and
helped to achieve what is necessary for the good of all. Beyond
partisanship there is only following the laws of the nation.”

Andrew says the shinobi were spy commandos with multiple specialisms all

of which involved clandestine activity. These included espionage counter
intelligence surveillance scouting infiltration propaganda incendiary
warfare and physical projection as well as capturing any person targeted
for arrest by the lord. An essential part of any Japanese military
force, the shinobi were considered by many as the “eyes and ears” of an
    army.

Sheryl says , “Perhaps the American people should not be as surprised by

unfolding news of similar type factions like the Samauri and ninja whose
attitudes and behaviors might be quite different and might be observed
now in the FBI CIA and DOJ of the United States as they are the ears and
eyes to protect Americans. Only as evolving people we would love to do
away with the drama intrigue and underhanded techniques of less than
honorable members of any of our enforcement agencies or protective
services. Is it even possible to have ethical practices honored and
honed by protectors or must they do whatever is necessary according to
their leadership who might be compromised by wrong values. I would say
we must have truth transparency and decency in learning about criminal
activity, apprehending offending people, and allowing justice to decide
what is true or not. However, if the media and political parties spin
lies and propaganda and fight dirty, it is hard for law abiding people
    to protect their freedoms.

Unlike the samurai which was a specific higher social class, the

shinobi/ninja was a paid military role that could be filled by a soldier
of any background. Many shinobi were from the samurai class but others
were simple ashigaru foot soldiers. Others still were itinerant monks
actors or tradesmen who might take on a temporary assignment. True
shinobi owed their allegiance to a single lord whether for a short term
    contract or across generations

The ninja idea of having a Correct Mind and the psychology involved is

quite interesting. This is not a path for the weak. To venture into the
dominion of the shinobi requires enormous self-control and a level of
commitment and endurance that most people cannot attain. What makes the
path so difficult is that shinobe must be simultaneously loyal to their
own clan and treacherous toward the enemy. They live within the samurai
society but remain in its shadow forever close to the centre but always
cast to the outside, as any betrayal could mean the downfall of a clan.
Unlike the average soldier they do not benefit from the army’s
protection. The shinobi venture out before all others alone and put
themselves in danger deep inside the adversary’s stronghold. (SPY)

The Taoist creation myth heavily influences samurai and shinobi

thoughts. According to the myths before the universe evolved there was a
formless expanse called Wu-chi (Pre-Universe) which evolved into T
ai-chi (The Great Ultimate) The Great Universe then differentiated into
negative and positive elements called yin and yang.

The Yin and Yang concept used by the ninja can teach us about balance in

    life today.

Yin and Yang divide into heaven earth and man which exists in the four

seasons of spring summer autumn and winter. This is the foundation for
the five elements of Earth Do (Fire) Ka (Metal) Gon (Water) Sui and Wood
(Moku). The five elements give rise to the eight trigrams: Heaven Lake
Fire Thunder Wind Water Mountain and Earth.

Yin and Yang are also heaven and earth. When the body dies Yin and Yang

separate and the soul returns to heaven. Therefore, death is not an end
but the beginning of another phase of life. This understanding is what
enables the shinobi to face death without fear.

Sheryl relates that the thinking is much the same for a Japanese Reiki

Master Teacher which she is. We have symbols similar to those in Ninja
Skills which represent and embody the philosophy way of life and
dedication of a Reiki initiate to the healing art work and to the
connection to Spirit through acceptance of that truth. Physical life
survives the death of the body.

The three diseases for the Shinobi are Fear Overthinking and

    Underestimation.

Left to run amok fear particularly fear of death can paralyze your

thoughts…To have no fear is reckless: to have too much fear is
cowardice. Shinobi need to identify the fear in their mind and take
    control of it.

Underestimation means thinking the enemy is stupid or beneath them. An

adversary is a human and all humans have different types of
intelligence. But still their intelligence while different from your own
may find a way to see through your tactic. Therefore, always view the
enemy as a skilled and accomplished nemesis and make plans accordingly.

Overthinking When your thoughts push beyond the here and now and

foresseable eventualities this creates a chain of change and can move
beyond the actual truth. In fact the situation is still the same, it has
changed only in your mind. A good shinobi will know the difference
between a reasonable level of contingency and over-speculation.

The samaurai and shinobi/ninja have drawn from different religions over

time. The samurai class has existed for approximately one millennium from
the 9th to the 19th century and during this time a variety of belief
    systems became prominent in Japan.

    Buddhism

Founded in India in the fifth century BC by Siddhartha Gautama Buddhism

teaches us “The Four Noble Truths.”

    Life contains suffering

Desire of thirst for certain impermanent states of things
If we identify and overcome our desire, we will reduce suffering and
    karma
Inner peace is found by cultivating a correct mind.

By cultivating a correct mind we can liberate ourselves from the cycle

    of death and rebirth.

We can do this by following “The Noble Eightfold Path”

Correct view—understanding the nature of reality

    Correct Intention acting from compassion
Correct speech communicating in a non-harmful way
    Correct conduct—not exploiting anyone
    Correct livelihood—pursuing a non-harmful occupation
Correct effort—conducting accurate self-analysis and adjusting
    accordingly
Correct mindfulness—continuing to perfect awareness of all things
Correct Meditation—developing the ability to live in the moment.

A particular school of Buddhism is known as Zen which focuses above all

on meditation. Zen came to Japan in the 12th century and became popular
among the samujrai as the mental discipline they developed through
intense Zen meditation which enhanced their martial arts skills and
helped them face the enemy without the fear of death.

    Confucianism

Confucianism is the study of the ways and teachings of the revered

Chinese philosopher Confucius (551-479 BC). It centers on developing a
harmonious relationship between the individual (microcosm) and society
(macrocosm). Confucius teaches us to cultivate certain virtues such as
benevolence righteousness loyalty and respect for ritual family and
tradition. All members of a society have a collective responsibility to
develop these virtues within themselves in order to serve the common
good. Confucianism became particularly influential in Japan towards the
end of the 17th century. It is not hard to see how its ethic of
unswerving loyalty and selflessness regulated by an ever vigilant mind
can be applied to the shinobi path.

    Shinto

The path of the gods collects together various Japanese folk religions.

Central to Shinto are Japan’s native gods, or “kami” who reside in the
natural world. Adherents worship at a shrine where areas of purity are
marked off by ropes and the iconic torii gates.

In Japanese culture it is acceptable to draw different insights from

different beliefs rather than fully subscribing exclusively to one….
Sheryl suggests our Political system and religious structures might
benefit from this cooperative open minded use of the best in many
    different thought process.

We discover how one is able to follow “The Way” which is the central

concept of Taoism. It is considered the power behind the construction
and governing of the Universe: it is outside time and space yet
permeates all existence. Like the Western concept of God, the Way is
unknowable. However, God is commonly personified as a man whereas The
Way has no identity, gender number. Any answer how to follow The Way
will be found in the teachings of The Tao Te Ching: the defining work of
Taoist philosophy. The ancient traditions..the way of the tea ceremony,
the way of calligraphy, the way of flower arrangements, the way of
fragrance…These ancient traditions help you to concentrate the mind and
lead a life of harmony. Sheryl says it seems then that enjoying life in
all aspects with respect and honor for traditions family ancestors and
daily exercises in living consciously are “The Way.”

Andrew also shows us how we can be Like Water and how that helps us know

ourselves and understand life with a correct mind.

There is an old Chinese teacher who tells us, “Water adjusts itself to

the vessel it is in. When water is into a teapot it takes the shape of
the teapot, when in a cup it takes the shape of the cup and so on.
Similarly, we change our behavior and personality to suit the
environment around us. However those who take the path of the shinobi
may find themselves in extreme situations involving bribery extortion
lying thieving killing etc. Their entire lifestyle will become one of
manipulation and malfeasance. Therefore they need to take control and
understand how to protect their character from external experiences. In
some respects, you will need to be like water. In adapting yourself to
your environment so that you do not attract attention—but you must also
ensure that the demands of your role do not twist your true nature.

Considering the qualities of the Perfect Shinobi or Ninja is quite

admirable and illuminating. A “jonin” is considered the perfect ninja.
As a shinobi/ninja student you should aspire to this status although
achieving it is another matter. The qualities to be a jonin: You must
demonstrate a loyalty to your lord, the courage of a hero, strategic
acumen and a record of achievement. Strong of body, you must nonetheless
be gentle when not in action. You must have a keen sense of
righteousness and an absence of desire and never forget what you owe to
others. Your mental qualities should include fluency in speech and
writing, an ability to think deeply, and a fondness for learning
principles and right action and you must be difficult to deceive. Jonin
are always dignified honest and good and not argumentative. Spiritually
you must know heaven’s will and understand Confucianism and Buddhism and
always be aware that life and death have their determined appointment
and rise above your own self-interest while hearing the words of ancient
    sages in mind.

Sheryl says that as a Japanese Reiki Master Teacher the healing art and

way of life for a member of the samauri shinobi and jonin seem much the
same. They seek the best in self-development and self-actualization
according to the Universal Source or divine within us. In Sheryl’s book
The Living Spirit she wrote, “I am always overjoyed to hear members of
the medical community embracing energy work as a way to heal pain, clear
negative thoughts, and align ourselves with Sprit and our unique soul
attributes. I have the opportunity to interview many of the leaders in
the medical community on my show “Healing From Within.” In fact I have
noticed over the last few years that an increasing number of my guests
are doctors surgeons psychiatrists psychologists healers spiritualists
and people who study the ancient ways for self-investigation and who
combine their traditional training with intuitive and or energetic
healing abilities. The goal is to achieve greater awareness higher
conscious and compassion for all life.”

Andrew would hope readers take away with them after reading Ninja Skills

a clearer view of the value of ancient traditions and skills that have
survived a millennium and still hold answers for improving our
understanding of how to live honorably and survive challenging times
never forgetting to do so with dignity and goodness.

Anthony wrote, “I guess Respect for Heaven even though often shinobi

live in a world of lies and deception as most humans do but that does
not mean they should be dishonest. While they may be called upon in
their duty to serve and protect their clan or group, even perform evil
deeds, they must maintain the strictest of moral codes in their inner
life, believe in the gods, practice sincerity, cultivate their mind and
follow The Way. For if they do not do this they will fall into despair
and lose the support of the gods.”

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have taken an

inside look at the world of ninja skills talents responsibilities goals
and ultimately the Way or path they follow to know life and themselves
in a disciplined and honorable way with respect for life heaven and
earth and to truly live with a code of honor. We learned how like fire
and water shinobi or ninjas must look upon all friends or foe as either
a treasure or a hazard, bringing either bounty or destruction. Anthony
Cummins book Ninja Skills is a beautifully executed book of photos,
history, techniques of warfare through the story of the Samurai the
Shinobi or Ninja and the religious philosophies ancient views that
coincide with the art of living responsibly with values spirit and a
sense of tradition as they like all disciplined warriors and Reiki
Master Teachers maneuver through a world of danger protecting their
inner values and the lords they represented. To find out more of this
training which can help you understand life in all aspects you will
learn how to survive well make better choices that honor our innate soul
wisdom and our families, workplaces and children and adapt to or flow in
life without fear and limitation. For if one knows the value of nature
man and god, they will always proceed to walk the way of the ninja and
find life to be filled with mysteries and delight beyond their
    challenges.

  • BREAK FREE FROM SELF-SABOTAGE

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” your host Sheryl Glick

author of The Living Spirit Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which
shares an awakening to the potential of all souls beyond any labels
assigned to us in the physical world due to religion race ethnicity
gender political preference to reclaim our true spiritual nature and is
delighted to welcome Ginny Townsend author of Shatter Our Glass Walls
who hopes to share with listeners ways to break free from our own
    greatest enemy ourselves.

As listeners of Healing From Within well know Sheryl and her guests

share intimate stories experiences and insights into the metaphysical
aspects of our human and spiritual existence in order to help us achieve
self-awareness self-mastery of emotions and create our best life in
respect to health prosperity happiness and living with purpose.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Ginny a military wife who

has lived all over the country will show how she found it possible to
break free from the swirling wasteland of self-sabotage and live the
life she was intended to live and sets up a plan for you to do the same.

Sheryl tells Ginny that she was interested in talking to her today

because of her being a military wife as Sheryl’s niece married a naval
officer and is living on a military base. Sheryl has never had any close
connection to that lifestyle but admires women who are serving their
families and our country by being married to men who are in the service.
It is a life of dedication to purpose skills and sacrifice and is
admired by so many of us.

Ginny tells us that she selected the title Shatter our Glass Walls to

refer to the self-limiting fears and boundaries we set for ourselves as
we are socialized and begin to accept the outside world’s view of what
is important lasting and meaningful and often forget our own dreams in
the process of complying with rules and regulations.

Sheryl says… She is glad Ginny refers to the “Glass Walls” or self

limiting boundaries that we set for ourselves due to perhaps a lack of
truly knowing who we are and unlike the political statement of the last
Presidential election of glass ceilings that need to be broken so women
may have greater success in their dreams and goals. That reference was
to the boundaries imposed on women by outside influences. Sheryl and
Ginny believe we create our world from the inside out and can blame no
one for what we are unable to create in our life. Sheryl tells Ginny
that never playing the victim role herself, she finds it hard to imagine
what kind of life and experiences those people who do blame complain
judge and who are unable to clearly take personal responsibility for
their own actions and reactions must have survived. They must not have a
belief in anything other than their ego view of life and the need to
control situations which for spiritually minded people is not a viable
possibility. Spiritually open people trust the bigger Universal plan and
flow with ease in life and wait to see how it unfolds. Success does not
come from demand but from a feeling within that trusts loves and shares
inner wisdom and the truth that we are more than our physical life and
life affords us the opportunities to grow beyond fear control and
    demands.

Ginny shares with listeners that her book is a journal for creating the

life you want and tells us the thinking behind the word, “Journal .”
Sheryl remembers how some twenty years ago her Reiki teacher told her to
journal the many coincidences synchronicities and miracles she was
experiencing as she would be able to see her spiritual progress over
time and Sheryl actually used many stories from her journals in the
first two books she wrote, Life Is No Coincidence: The Life and
Afterlife Connection and The Living Spirit. So, why a journal? Growing
up, Ginny’s Mom instilled in us a love for words. What they mean. Why
they’re used. Anytime we played Cranium Ginny killed it with the
word-based yellow cards! She always found it interesting to learn the
roots of words and how they came to be, since it almost always reveals
the history and context of words’ meanings.

Let’s take a look at the word “journal.’ It’s root comes from the French

word jour, meaning “day,” so you can see how the word quietly reminds us
to write daily. There’s something about the consistency, the challenge,
the commitment to journaling daily that allows us to dig deeper into
what’s going on in our lives. Throughout history, many luminaries such
as Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Rosalind Franklin and Mark Twain,
to name just a few, kept regular journals collecting their observations
and emotions, no doubt serving as an exercise in recording ideas that
would unlock genius. Self-development queen and media maven, Oprah
Winfrey, has kept a journal since she was in her teens, now using it as
a way to catalog and express the gratitude in her daily life. Oprah
describes journaling as a way to track one’s own evolution. “Ginny used
her journals as therapy. In her forties she got wiser. She started using
her journals to express gratitude – to watch her blessings multiply.
What you focus on expands,” In fact, a simple web search will bring up
numerous magazine articles and references of scholarly works that
explore the many benefits of journaling including mood-improvement,
problem-solving, and stress reduction. The real value of keeping a
journal is that your diary won’t and can’t judge you; it’s a truly safe
space to just write whatever you are thinking and feeling.

Interestingly, let’s also take a look at the word “journey,” another

word rooted in the French word for “day.” Truly, any journey is
completed by consistent effort, day after day. So, it seems wildly
appropriate to go on this journey of Un-Sabotage one day at a time and
with the use of a journal. Ginny and Sheryl conclude that constant
effort and attention to our thoughts feelings and reactions can help us
decide what is in our best interest to fully pursue and what people
events experiences don’t serve our sense of well-being and personal
    growth.

Ginny tells us she has lived in many parts of the country Texas North

Dakota California and has found people much the same in their desires to
enjoy life family country and discover what can make them successful or
    happy.

Ginny has set up the chapters of her journal to show us how to Uncover

Unpack what’s holding them back, UnBitter by forgiving those who’ve hurt
them, and then Unveil and Unleash the true you to step into the life you
will love. She tells us what to expect as you Un-Sabotage Your Life in
    this guided journal:

UnCover, the first chapter, is a month-long process where you’ll respond

to daily prompts that reference different areas of your life. She
suggests you answer each prompt as honestly and completely as possible
and give your full attention and effort in this chapter since you’ll be
referring back to this content often during our Un-Sabotage journey.

After your month of UnCover, we’ll move to UnPack where we’ll reflect on

everything that was written and, well, UnPack it some more. You’ll have
the opportunity to look over everything you’ve journaled and based on
what you UnPack, you’ll be able to see any areas to focus on for further
    growth.

In the third section, UnBitter, you’ll get the chance to intentionally

start (or continue) the path of forgiveness. The framework of this
chapter is simple and is set-up to acknowledge hurt, intend forgiveness
and release any bitterness you might be harboring.

Following the UnBitter section, we’ll take a look at how your journey,

plot twists and all, could actually be the proof of your greatest
strengths and character in the UnVeil .And finally, the UnLeash chapter
will form your mission to take action both in your work (however you
    define that) and your relationships.

Ginny applauds readers for taking a bold step in understanding

themselves and life more fully. It’s good work on which you are
embarking. Also, she encourages those following the journaling process
to show themselves some love and gentleness as they walk through these
steps. You didn’t get to your current place in life overnight so if it
takes a couple days to see more clearly what’s holding you back, don’t
get discouraged! Keep at it and the change will come.

Ginny expects and knows one day you’ll look back and be astonished at

how much you’ve grown. The world is eagerly awaiting a beautifully
UnVeiled you! Since we’re about to start a journey, Ginny asks you to
consider inviting a close friend to join you. As with anything, this
path is made richer when you walk it with loved ones at your side. And a
last thought before getting started, Ginny is not, nor does she claim to
be, a licensed doctor or psychologist. She has walked this road and is
simply sharing what she’s done and learned along the way in the hope
that it might help you move forward in yours. However, if you are now,
or during this writing journey, experiencing any depression or dark
thoughts, please seek professional help to help you find and live the
full and remarkable life you’re meant to live.

In Ginny’s first chapter she asks people to reflect on their childhood

to find the fears or traumas that persist in their perceptions and of
course until exposed and changed or released influence everything in our
adult life.. One question Sheryl particularly focused on as she has
found it to be little known or misunderstood by many was…What crosses
your mind when you think of the word “success?” Do any specific memories
stand out? Write it all down.

Sheryl asks Ginny what success means to her as it means so many

different things to each of us.

Sheryl says in her next book New Life Awaits: Creating Your Best

Afterlife by Living Consciously Now she addresses this very important
thought and wrote, “Of course success has different meanings to each
individual, as many of us well know. Cindy Locher one of the co-authors
in Mastering the Art of Success suggested “Success for one woman might
be a good marriage, happy children, and a career or area of study that
she enjoys. Success for the man next door might mean a challenging job
that keeps him on the run and provides enough money to enjoy life’s
amenities. Some people do not define success in terms of material gain.
For those people success means learning new things, growing spiritually
and intellectually and other altruistic ideals that are internal rather
than external.” In today’s competitive business world, success has
become an art and those who master it are considered “Lucky” but luck
might not have as much to do with becoming successful as good old
fashioned hard work, overcoming negative attitudes or people who limit
you and your being able to learn, grow, or mature socially, spiritually
and emotionally. As Sheryl and Cindy are discussing the walls or
boundaries that limit us must be shattered moved through climbed over or
just disintegrate as we move towards progress and success of so many new
    awarenesses.

Ginny shares many great quotes from successful people Coco Chanel said,

“There are people who have money and people who are rich. Paulo Coelho
said, “Two things keep us from happiness: living in the past & observing
others.” Exploring both these thoughts point us in the direction of
    finding peace happiness and success.

Another quote Sheryl found quite meaningful and necessary in order to

discover who we are and what life is all about was, “The purpose of life
is to discover your gift. The work of life is to develop it. The meaning
of life is to give your gift away.’ David Viscott said that wondrous
    statement.

Sheryl says that she always from her earliest days wanted to love life

and God completely and feel freedom beyond all the rules of societal and
parental restrictions but first had to discover a gift we all have which
is to align to our inner spiritual intuition and receive guidance from
Source so we may truly know we are spiritual beings having a physical
life mainly to discover or simply remember that, and to trust that by
faith love and compassion for ourselves and others we have success and
contribute to the evolution of humanity.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within Ginny Townsend has

shared her journey and journal of thoughts quotes and questions which
will allow one to clearly see what remains obscured from their soul view
of themselves and which must be worked on in order to find the greatest
way to your potential for living with faith compassion love success and
    happiness.

Ginny writes, “Please remain gentle and loving with yourself as you

continue this self exploration in journaling. Since starting this new
journey you are walking on new ground, gaining territory every day.
Acknowledging new insights and raw emotions can be scary, but this kind
of work can also be greatly rewarding. This is where breakthrough
happens, relationships can be their healthiest and we live the big lives
we were created to live. And as counterintuitive as it may sound, you
might come up against a new block or wall during this section. Why, you
ask? Well, it might sound like a tangent, but did you know that our
subconscious mind is wired to protect us? Awesome right? Well, yes, it
definitely serves a purpose. If you’re in a life-threatening situation,
your fight-or-flight instincts will kick in without hesitation (and
without permission) to hopefully save your life. The catch is, this part
of your ever-vigilant mind also sees unknown circumstances (think change
and risk) and new thoughts as potential threats. Of course we know that
a promotion or a new relationship can be a great thing, but our faithful
subconscious mind may take one look at it and start screaming, “RUN!” So
be encouraged — if this happens, its proof you’re moving forward.”

Ginny and I would have you know that everyone is having a spiritual life

as we are spirit and imbued with the divine light that at the right time
in our journey awakens and begins to yearn once again to be able to live
in peace harmony balance love and remember their soul life plan to find
success. Once your heart opens the people events and process will begin
and we assure you the results will be worth the time and effort
    expended.

2017, to learn about finding the key to energy health through the
chakras and communicating with the wisdom of Spirit.

Angels have been described by religions or in literature, poetry and

music in so many various ways. Angels are beings who have greater power
and ability than humans. They exist in heaven, or the spirit realm,
which is a level of existence higher than the physical universe. Thus,
they are also referred to as spirits.

God created the angels through Jesus, whom the Bible calls “the

firstborn of all creation.” Describing how God used Jesus in creation,
the Bible says: “By means of Jesus, or the first man which some believe
to be Adam, all other things were created in the heavens and on the
earth, the things visible and the things invisible,” including the
angels. Angels do not marry and reproduce. Instead, each of these “sons
of the true God” was individually created to support the loving creative
expansion of the Divine and to support humans. Angels were created in
the distant past, before the earth existed. When God created the earth,
the angels “began shouting in applause.”

Depending on the context, the Hebrew word may refer to a human messenger

or to a supernatural messenger. A human messenger might be a prophet or
priest, such as Malachi, “my messenger”; the Greek superscription in the
Septuagint translation states the Book of Malachi was written “by the
hand of his messenger”. Examples of a supernatural messenger are the
    “Malak

YHWH” who is either a messenger from God, an aspect of God or God

    himself as the messenger.

Scholar Michael D. Coogan notes that it is only in the late books that

the terms “come to mean the benevolent semi-divine beings familiar from
later mythology and art.” Daniel is the first biblical figure to refer
to individual angels by name, mentioning Gabriel (God’s primary
messenger and Michael (the holy fighter). These angels are part of
Daniel’s apocalyptic visions and are an important part of all
    apocalyptic literature.

Sheryl and Rev. Thabiti discuss what an Angel is in their view. Sheryl

gives her view on moving past believing in her earlier life that angels
were a mystical magical imaginary way to find solace and peace when
times were challenging or had to face the fear of death, but after
finding her innate energy healing ability and her ability to download
information from Spiritual source she realized Angels were indeed a
living force in the Universe. In Sheryl’s readings for clients when an
Angel has appeared in her inner vision she always feels peaceful safe
and have at times felt warmly embraced. Recently, when Sheryl was at a
wedding and asked by her cousin, who had just lost her husband, if our
relatives and loved ones were with us at the event Sheryl adamantly
said, “But of course.” Then Sheryl closed her eyes and asked for a sign
to share with her. We took several pictures with our cell phones and it
was obvious to most that there was an angelic being present in the
window above us as well as orbs of color, that could have represented
human souls. Shortly after this when preparing for another radio show,
Sheryl opened up the book being reviewed The Not So Little Book of
Surprise and immediately saw a picture so similar to the light being, or
angel, in her photograph that she knew Spirit was purposefully showing
her the truth about Angels. Still another amazing seemingly coincidental
event…The other night on Fox News there was a segment of an event in
Michigan. In the backyard of a resident the motion detectors had
photographed what could only be described as an Angelic presence. It
seems as we are evolving in our understanding of spiritual energy, these
loving, helpful beings of energy who serve Gods purpose to love human
beings, seem to be appearing more often.

”Yes, God uses his faithful angels to help people today”. Angels are

used by God as he directs his servants in the preaching of the good news
of the Kingdom of God. This direction benefits both those preaching and
    those hearing the good news.

Angels help all human beings to appreciate the good intentions of those

in spirit to act honorably and to avoid contamination by unloving,
unjust and negative actions. Angels guide and protect those who are
faithful to God and perhaps encourage even those who don’t understand
how to live a faithful, trusting life.

Sheryl says “It is my belief that we all are supported by spiritual

helpers, Angels, other souls, teachers, loved ones, higher vibrational
beings, who have been with us from birth are present at times of
physical traumas to support the souls journey and help us transition
when we leave this physical life, so we are never alone.

Other intuitive and religious folk believe, as does Sheryl that although

angels look out for the spiritual welfare of God’s servants, this does
not necessarily mean that God assigns an angel to each person but many
spiritual people believe that we each have three guides from birth,
either angels or other soul guides who remain with us for an entire
    lifetime as a personal guardian.

However, during the course of a person’s life, other appropriate angels

will assist in their trials and tribulations. Angels do not protect
God’s servants from every trial or temptation. The Bible shows that God
will often “make the way out” of a trial by giving a person the wisdom
    and strength to endure.

Angels present themselves in many ways sometimes they physically present

themselves to those who call upon them when needed.

Many people believe that angels sometimes present themselves as ordinary

people to help in very challenging situations..like Earth Angels.

Sheryl shares a story of when her mother was in intensive care suffering

from heart failure and had a tube inserted down her throat. A young male
nurse walked in and said to Sheryl, “I will help your mother and stay
with her when you leave”. Sheryl asked his name and he responded,
“Timothy”. Weeks later Sheryl’s mom was in another room far away from
the intensive care unit and she had taken a turn for the worse and had a
feeding tube inserted in her nostril. In walked Timothy and Sheryl ran
to him and told him , “My mom is not doing well.” Timothy walked over to
the bed and told Ceil (Sheryl’s mom) she didn’t need that tube could eat
on her own. The very next day when Sheryl arrived the tube was out. It
either had come out in the night or her mother had pulled it out and
Ceil was eating a little jello. Sheryl went to find Timothy to thank him
for his help but no one in the hospital knew him… an angel, a miracle, a
blessing? Whatever it was, helped Sheryl deal with those difficult times
before the passing of her mother. Since that time whenever Sheryl has
met a Timothy there is a sense that there is a message from Spirit of
hope and love and Timothy’s have appeared at other challenging times for
Sheryl. In Sheryl’s next book New Life Awaits she has a story of a man
she met when she was a hospice volunteer. He had a near death experience
and tells how when he was stranded in the car that night and not feeling
well, a man suddenly appeared in the dead of night, in a deserted area
and took him home. He was never able to repay the man for his kindness,
for as soon as people came to help him, the good Samaritan was nowhere
to be found. Many people share stories of miraculous helpers. Are they
angels? We certainly like to think so.

There are many angels and different categories of angels. The Bible does

not give an exact figure, but it does show that their number is vast.
For example, a vision given to the apostle John included a glimpse of
hundreds of millions of angels. There are also different categories of
angels: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones. People are extremely fascinated
with the word “archangel” which comes from the Greek words meaning chief
angel, meaning to be first in rank or power; and angelos which means
messenger or envoy. The word is only used twice in the New Testament:
Only the Archangel Michael is mentioned by name in the New Testament.

In most Christian traditions Gabriel is also considered an archangel,

but there is no direct literal support for this assumption. It is also
worth noting that the term ‘archangel’ appears only in the singular,
never plural, and only in specific reference to Michael.

The name of the archangel Raphael appears only in the Book of Tobit.

Tobit is considered Deuterocanonical by Roman Catholics (both Eastern
and Western Rites), Eastern Orthodox Christians, and Anglicans. Raphael
said to Tobias that he was “one of the seven who stand before the Lord”,
and it is generally believed that Michael and Gabriel are two of the
other six. A fourth Archangel is Uriel whose name literally means “Light
of God.” Uriel’s name is the only one not mentioned in the Western
Christian Bible. Another possible interpretation of the seven archangels
is that these seven are the seven spirits of God that stand before the
throne described in the Book of Enoch, and in the Book of Revelation.
The Seven Archangels are said to be the guardian angels of nations and
countries, and are concerned with the issues and events surrounding
these, including politics, military matters, commerce and trade: e.g.
Archangel Michael is traditionally seen as the protector of Israel.

I want to thank Rev. Thabiti for sharing his amazing experience working

with Crystal Dawn and the many gifted metaphysicians who shared their
personal stories in the film of interactions with Angels. It is just
amazing work when dealing with energy and love of spirit and angels in
order to bring greater awareness to the public of the expansive nature
of the world beyond this world and how many life forms and helpers of
the divine connect with us in our human journey for the improvement of
the human condition as we continue to learn greater compassion and love.
In order to learn more about this film go to www.TheAngelFilm.com

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing from Within we have journeyed

through the world of spiritual beings who help us lighten our daily
lives with hope and trust in the divine plan for evolution and the
expansion of our human hearts to know greater awareness of how much the
Divine loves and looks after his human progeny. Knowing more about this
Divine presence in these times of stress between cultures, religions and
nations can bring us together in unity if we perhaps call upon them to
assist us to move past our ego based physical reality, past materialism,
past industrial focus of life and technology and to once again
communicate with nature, spirit and man in loving ways that creates
opportunities for all to share life to its fullest instead of succumbing
to weaker impulses and negativity such as greed, corruption and
disloyalty to our fellow citizens and to a concept of Divine Creation.

Rev. Thabiti, and I would have you begin to explore the possibilities of

asking your guides, teachers, holy vibrational beings and angels to be
part of your everyday thinking and to assist you in discovering the many
truly amazing interactions we have with heaven and earth, in life and
beyond, in love and in finding peace no matter the challenge or the
issues our soul has chosen to explore in this physical realm. If we look
at live with hope goodness and feel good we will draw more of that to
us. Remember our thoughts and actions are guided by our helpers in
Spirit who wish us to remember our connection at all times to the
    eternal Life Force.

  • A HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PRESCRIPTION FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with host Sheryl Glick author of The

Living Spirit which shares stories of spiritual awakening communication
and finding ways to empower yourself using intuition as a tool to making
better choices for health happiness and success. Sheryl is delighted to
welcome John Vespasian author of his newest books Rationality is the Way
to Happiness and Sequentiality. A common thread throughout his books is
to look at personal development through observations from history
science psychology and human development as well as alternative health
methods to live a well balanced harmonious life.

As listeners of the show are well aware my guests and I share our

intimate and insightful discoveries of life as it is was, and will be as
we merge our energetic awareness with the physical world and following
the process of self-investigation and self-mastery of our emotions will
improve the quality of life personally and collectively.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within John Vespasian who speaks six languages will share through the personal examples of people In his

stories how they and we all can find the right sequence of steps to deal
with challenges and create an environment for positive results. John
tells the story of Luigi Cornaro who overcame terminal illness and lived
102 years as well as telling the story of Mendel who sought to be a
teacher but failed the interview process as he was painfully shy and a
poor public speaker. Never giving up he succeeded in many areas that
were documented and used ultimately to teach in a different way than he
initially expected. John share the qualities and attitudes we must
foster in order to improve personal development through proper action
and succeed in areas of interest to us finding a better quality of
health and longevity as we simply follow the path best suited for us.
The goal seems to include working consistently, patiently, with resolve
and resilience to persevere against any challenge.

John begins to describe what is meant by the term sequentiality which he

has coined. He gives us a few examples of individuals who through a
sequence of steps worked through any issue or challenge blocking their
desires and goals and found personal success. Luigi Cornaro was one man
who overcame a terminal illness and lived to an extraordinary age. By
the time Luigi Cornaro was thirty five years old he was severely ill and
grew so sick physicians regarded him as terminal. Because of poor
nutrition and exhaustion he suffered from chronic fevers insomnia gout
and violent colics. He described his pain as worse than death. Cornaro
consulted two doctors in Venice and received contradictory advice. One
doctor told him to eat more meat and drink more milk. The other advised
he eat more vegetables and fish, work fewer hours, and take a nap during
the day. More unsure than before, he decided to follow both plans
moderately and live in alignment with his own inner voice established
new behaviors reduced worry and stress and relied on his body to heal
himself. He lived to be one hundred and two years old.

Another story John tells that Sheryl found completely compelling was

that of a man named Mendel who had studied to become a schoolteacher but
failed the oral examinations in 1850 and 1856. Sheryl when she was
seventeen years old took the oral examination for teaching elementary
education and found it very hard but passed and overcame her own public
speaking issues in time. Mendel possessed more than sufficient knowledge
to become a school teacher but due to his shyness he had been virtually
paralyzed during the oral examinations. After the massive efforts he had
invested in his studies the disappointment might have marked Mendel for
the rest of his life. When he faced the fact he would never be able to
achieve that goal, he accepted that he would be spending the rest of his
life in a monastery where he ultimately found success and happiness.
John tells us that he pursued scientific experiments and documented much
that was later used in teaching other. If one road does not take us to
our expected destination we might be guided to find another path even
better for us. Being open to possibilities and accepting, allowing, life
to unfold without judgment while resilience to bounce back from
disappointments can lead to great joy and positive results.

In John’s books he is somewhat skeptical about positive thinking and

self-help books that rely mostly on this viewpoint. He says it simply is
not enough to be positive and hope or wait for results. We have to apply
practical steps and an investment of energy thought action and hard work
to move forward towards our goals.

Sheryl would agree and suggests positive thinking without consistent

action and clear intention cannot lead to the results you may visualize
or desire or even need for your intuitive energetic or soul life plan to
be successfully executed. Consistency resiliency perserverance and
self-reliance are all necessary to add to positive thinking in order to
    move towards self-realization.

According to John’s research the best method for personal development

includes Rational living and Rational working to face all kinds of
difficulties and develop and succeed. Rationality is the way to
happiness in a world where philosophy is often reduced to catch phrases
and empty theories. A passionate defense of logic and consistency will
win over emotional decision making workable plans. Relentless action he
finds is more effective in producing long term results. It is possible
to let go of wasteful propositions, pursue compatible goals according to
rules and laws, cultivate perseverance, and develop greater resilience
in order to minimize problems maximize opportunities and simplify life
    for sustainable achievements.

John has a common thread running through the many books he has written.

This common thread includes the ten principles of rational living. In
order to improve your life you don’t need to place your hopes on a
lottery ticket or wait for the world to grant you the perfect
opportunity. There is a better way and it is condensed in the principles
of rational living principles such as think like an entrepreneur, not
like a crusader, ignore the noise, and focus on the results, stay away
from high risk situations, find people who share your values, and
    develop long-term passions.

John places much emphasis on health and longevity in his books for if we

are of right thought and action we will experience less stress and lose
of confidence self-esteem have better relationships with others and have
a strong foundation of self-awareness which leads to higher levels of
success happiness well-being love compassion and less lover vibrational
emotions such as fear jealousy greed anger negativity sorrow depression
    and unhappiness.

John explains that dozens of millions of people feel so depressed that

they can barely function and Sheryl expresses that we are living in an
age of information and technological advancement which is hard on our
energy systems and is affecting our physical health most dramatically.
Without an understanding of history and natural healing and preventive
ways to help the body flow through the many changes we and the world are
experiencing faced by the challenges political social economical
environmentally many will succumb to health problems. Greater awareness
of nutrition exercise relaxation skills encouraging proper sleep
patterns and allowing time to rest, improving interpersonal
relationships, and managing time for better results are all part of a
plan to live in alignment to the physical/spiritual world energies. As
we pay more attention to our intuitive nature and learn to deal with
stress, release worry, and accept and allow the natural flow of light as
the masters of ancient times Artistotle Plato Rumi and other healers and
scientists discovered, we will improve ourselves and the world.

According to John’s research the number one reason so many people are

stuck could be FEAR of failure, disapproval, judgment, loss of job
    family health and death.
The most surprising lessons we have learned from history can help us
understand and resolve many hindering thoughts that aid to fear and
limit our finding ways to reach our full natural potential for personal
    growth.

Sheryl says that many of us keep repeating the same mistakes. It is only

by understanding our dual nature or human and spiritual aspects of life
and how these energies have played out historically over time that we
can we move past making the same mistakes that have led to religious and
economic wars. Sheryl wrote in her book, The Living Spirit, “We are each
an independent life form and our choices are our responsibility, either
nourishing our own growth or making us needlessly and unproductively
ponder the judgments and actions of others. Anything that is less than
accepting of others whatever their condition, allows for separation from
our normal state of love. The goal in the search for enlightenment may
be recognizing that while not liking the behavior of “bad people” the
Dali Lama and other highly empowered spiritual leaders have reached a
level of detachment allowing them to remain in a love based energy
finding deeper compassion for the flawed human condition. That is the
    goal in theory.”

John tells us what he believes an overstressed person can do right now

to reduce his stress and improve health. Adhere to a life that improves
you personally satisfies your interests and needs, be of service to
others, find times to relax, meditate, read, listen to music, enjoy
relationships and nature, and simply BE!! More rest good nutrition
enjoying what you have, not what others have, and living a more
simplified life style enjoying each moment, not worrying about the past
or future. Being present NOW are all ways to live with more joy love and
compassion for the gift of life.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have had an

intelligent insightful discussion into learning to do what is necessary
when confronted with severe problems and or becoming resistant to
adversity learning to deal with stress and improve our physical health
through a process that enables us to make choices that enhance our
self-reliance, avoid nerve wrecking inconsistencies, and lead to a good
    life based on reason.

John Vespasian has a wonderful understanding of history human psychology

and development as ways to develop our highest selves through trial and
often error, but always with new creative possibilities and the
potential to thrive if we can be consistent, diligent, fair-minded,
purposeful and hopeful, and follow a set of steps one by one, to
    fulfilling our goals.

John wrote in The Philosophy of Builders, “The factors that lead to

prosperity and happiness have changed little through the ages. From the
lives of accomplished men and women we can extract the three principles
that they have used to build a better future: self-reliance, tolerance
and entrepreneurship to overcome adversity. It shows how to overcome
discouragement, walk the path of least resistance, simplify your life,
reduce costs and focus on opportunities.”

John and I would have you know that learning to thrive in difficult

times is what our souls radiate with within the light and love of
Spirit. It is an ability to remember their divine potential inner wisdom
and spiritual talents to deal with obstacles find a practical approach
to solving problems and getting things done. All leaders who incorporate
this inner wisdom allow and accept their true path in life can increase
their effectiveness in bringing their talents to the world. That is
perhaps the purpose of life: to discover who we are and share that
    magnificence with the world.

  • EMERGING CREATIVITY FOR THE JOURNEY OF SELF-REALIZATION

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with host Sheryl Glick author of The

Living Spirit Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which shares stories
of spiritual awakening spiritual communication, healing energies
miracles and discovering and using intuition to navigate the journey of
a physical life. Today I welcome G. Brian Benson author of Habits For
Success which shares ways to create a foundation of happiness balance
and fulfillment through the discoveries of inner awareness.

As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her

guests share intimate experiences and insights into the metaphysical
aspects of life which reveal much about our energetic or spiritual needs
and our mind- based, ego reality, or the physical world. When we learn
to respect and merge both sources of wisdom we can actually find out
much more about ourselves, others, and the world and begin to process
all our amazing spiritual gifts to live a more balanced joyful
    purposeful and healthier lifestyle.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” G. Brian Benson an award

winning author radio host filmmaker and speaker shares the value of
trusting intuition and his own personal journey of self-growth learning
to live an authentic and fulfilling life. Brian is a 4XIronman
triathlete and cross country bicyclist who knows the value of hard work
and never giving up on dreams.

When Brian is asked to think back to childhood and remember a person

place or event that left an impression on him and may have shown him or
others the path he would take in life or the values that they would
perhaps hold dear Brian immediately says his mother always told him that
he always just wanted to help people. Brian also shares that he worked
in his father’s golf shop and golf range business and while so many men
would have loved to be in that place, especially Sheryl tells Brian, her
husband who lives and breathes golf and would have loved being in that
place. But Brian knew he had to find other ways to awaken his interests
and find how to communicate his enthusiasm for learning to move past
restrictions and the comfort zone to expand into the fullness of living.

When asked what it means to be a man of heart and to allow your genuine

nature to shine Brian says he feels like it means to live an authentic
life and he has found happiness and fulfillment in writing speaking
producing and acting. He is accomplishing things that he would never
have thought or dreamed possible. It wasn’t until he left his job that
he really began to see how alive he could feel simply by being himself
and following his intuitive heart instincts.

It may be said that many people innately know how they should be living

their lives, but often common sense is not always common practice. It
seems fear is what holds most of us back.

Sheryl says that is obviously fear and the need to follow the

expectations of others: our parents teachers loved ones and not wanting
to disappoint others or be a failure in some sense that can hold us
back. It is indeed also our societal training and programming that
dampens the spirit of curiosity and imagination and demands facts
figures and stability as the most commanding force for our decisions. In
addition the fear of Change for many people holds them back from trying
new ways to go forward and explore life. Actually change is inevitable
and necessary for our search of true self and remembering who we are as
Spiritual Beings having a physical life.

Brian wrote and this is absolutely how the awakening process begins for

most of us….”There comes a time in all of our lives when it becomes more
painful for us to stay mired in our old habits than to step outside our
comfort zone and risk the unknown as we journey towards finding our true
voice. Your true voice is the language of authentic fulfillment joy and
happiness. While speaking your true voice, creativity flows fears
subside and peace of mind prevails. I truly want everyone to find his or
    her true voice.”

Sheryl says, “It took Brian over forty years to find his spiritual voice

and for her a little longer than that,” but we eventually overcome
stifling conditions to hear the internal beat and to overcome that inner
voice that says we are not enough. It is the ultimate internal battle of
overcoming feelings of unworthiness. It’s ok to have fear and be scared.
Fear can be a good thing and lead to resilience as you push past the
restrictions that hold you back from doing the inner work that will free
you from many past habits or misconceptions to allow you to find
acceptance of self, others, life, and simply flow with life letting go
of resistance from past thoughts and realities you were given as a child
by those who thought they were protecting you from the dangers of life.

Brian tells us about his awakening process and how he felt and how he

decided to act on those feelings.

Brian wrote, “In my heart I think I always knew that I wasn’t going to

be working at the golf center for the rest of my life. I felt an
intuitive tug pulling at me early on during my eleven-year tenure of
running the facility. It was the same tug that I bravely followed into
triathlon racing during college, but this same tug wasn’t quite strong
enough or more likely, I didn’t have the courage to listen to it. But
now it pulsed stronger than ever and wouldn’t allow me to stay
complacent in something that wasn’t my true calling. That didn’t make
the initial conversation about wanting to leave the business with my
father any easier…..When I finally did gather the courage, it went much
better than I could ever have imagined. My father revealed if he had it
to do all over again he would have become a gold club professional
instead of an independent insurance agent because he loved to teach and
help others with their golf game.

Brian discusses the importance of building a foundation and balance in

life which are important keys in moving towards your most creative and
authentic life. The word foundation means the basis or groundwork of
anything. When we think of a foundation we typically think of a building
and the foundation is the strength of supporting the entire structure
and protecting the building from external damaging forces such as storm
earthquakes and strong winds. Well the foundation of a person applies to
us as well. Forces like judgment low self-esteem fear untruths inaction
jealously resistance apathy and imbalance may undermine our success. We
must seek ways to build self-confidence empathy self-esteem and greater
    love for ourselves.

Balance can be thought of as mental steadiness or emotional stability:

habit of calm behavior, judgment, etc and a state of equilibrium or
equal distribution of weight… It is important to have balance because we
have more energy—Because we have eliminated many of the things that
    aren’t really that important.

Things flow smoother for us—Living in balance makes it possible to be

fully alive and to live by making choices in the moment.

We make decisions because we want to not because we have to and we try

to be proactive rather than reactive. We are able to be our true
selves—We can focus on what it is we want to do not what it is we have
to do. WE have a solid foundation and stay focused moving forward to our
    goals and dreams.

Sheryl says that in regard to balance and building your own solid

foundation regardless of others in your life who may try to hold you
back because of their unresolved fears you find inner strength to move
    forward.

In her book The Living Spirit Sheryl wrote, “ Highly conscious human

beings now and in the future are the templates for the evolution of
humanity and for the creation of a finer state of harmony and balance.
It will be in the sharing of our dynamic beautiful inspiring thoughts
and in rethinking and reprogramming any limiting thoughts that the shift
will move many of us to a more productive level of purer thought and
action. With great self-awareness and Cosmic awareness come a greater
responsibility to share and exchange these ideas with those who will
listen. Awareness of existing energies emotions and the motivations for
our behaviors help us to balance our own energies.”

Our intuition becomes clearer/louder. The greatest thing about being in

balance Sheryl feels is that we are able to live from our heart and
listen to our intuition or soul guidance.

Brian offered a lovely quote in his book “If we disconnect from our

heart we disconnect from our life source” (Author Sonia Choquette)

Brian shares a description of intuition and how it is the key element in

advancing our understanding of spiritual and physical life so we may see
the reality and move away from any illusion or misinformation that
stifles our creativity. Intuition is a direct perception of truth fact
independent of any reasoning process. It is a keen and quick insight.

Intuition can be communicated in many different ways:

A Feeling of Restlessness when you feel it’s time to make a change to

    explore new challenges.
You May Notice a Recurrence of Thoughts and Opportunities that keep
presenting themselves to you like synchronicity messages that will not
    stop till you pay attention
You Have a Sense of Peace and Confidence Even When Your Decision Doesn’t
Seem Rational..When your intuition speaks you feel confident and clear
as opposed to when your ego speaks and presents uncertainty and fear.
Dreams and Visions Pay attention to your dreams. They can offer a
    roadmap for change.
A Gut Feeling This feeling can hit you when you meet someone or have an
important decision to make. It may come to you in the form of a peaceful
or excited feeling or as a sinking uneasy feeling that is sign something
is off. It is important to pay attention and honor both signals as they
help you move towards a goal or avoid something that may not be right
    for you.
You May Become Ill— When you ignore your intuition and its repeated
attempt of communication you may create stress or bring illness into
your life. Physical signs like anxiety and sickness can edge into your
life because you are ignoring your intuitive signs that you need to
    change something.
You May Feel Inspired and Have a Sense of Knowing You may feel excited
and inspired and desire to make things change or happen that helps you
    energetically proceed forward.

There are many reasons people don’t use their gift of intuition. One of

the main ones is that they haven’t been taught how to use it. Growing up
most of us were not taught to feed our mind our ego and our thoughts
instead of our heart. We only became comfortable in using and believing
our five senses. It’s time to add a sixth sense—intuitions.

It may take time to become more aware of this inner guidance and the

benefits for following it as fear of breaking free from old habits is
still very strong but those old habits inhibit us from fully shining and
reaching our full potential and its never too late to trust your inner
    guidance.

Overcoming lack of trust is an important step towards paying attention

to inner guidance but there are ways to improve your intuition and
    improve trust in yourself.

There are Ways to Improve Intuition Meditation During meditation we are

able to give our brains a rest from the busy life and schedule that most
of us lead, which in turn helps us to feel more rested balanced and
    centered

Lead a healthy lifestyle. Eat better and eat less. Exercise Proper

hydration Getting enough sleep. These are all great places to start.

Strive for life balance Practice maintaining an open-minded playful

experimental nonjudgmental attitude. Daydream, doodle brainstorm and
write down words and phrases that come to you when problem solving.

Look at eliminating negativity from your life. Yoga is wonderful to

build strength and flexibility and to slow down and quiet our bodies.
This slows down our mind as well.

Rhythmic Exercises Walking running swimming tai chi and yoga. Allowing

your mind to rest helps intuition come through.

Brian shows us how do we begin to step out of our comfort zone and what

    exactly is a comfort zone?

A comfort zone is a situation or position in which a person feels secure

comfortable or in control. A comfort zone may be defined as anything
that keeps our anxiety in check. Or a behavioral space where your
activities and behaviors fit a routine and pattern that minimizes stress
and risk. It seems it is a a way of securing a sense of security and
familiarity so when we leave our comfort zone we’re opening ourselves up
to the possibility of stress and anxiety because we aren’t sure of what
will happen next. A hint of anxiety can be helpful and push us to take
some risks get more done and continually better ourselves. Healthy
stress is a catalyst for growth motivation and optimal performance.

Helpful Hints for Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

It’s ok to start by taking small steps.
Try to reframe your fear into excitement. It’s a way to view what you
are doing in a positive light instead of a potential negative light.
Realize that whatever could go wrong isn’t as important as what could go
right and be beneficial in your growing awareness of your own talents
    and goals.
Remember why you are stepping out of your comfort zone. When you focus
on your reason it may give you a boost of courage energy and focus.
Remember why you are taking the risk and how much it means to you to
    extend yourself beyond any fear.
Mix things up. Hang out in new locations. Visit a new restaurant. Wear
something different Begin to stretch yourself out of your daily routine.

Sheryl always tell her clients who come to me for energy healing

sessions and intuitive readings that there is no failure, only
opportunities for new experiences and to develop the soul’s reason for
having a physical life at all and that is to experience feelings
emotions on all sides of the spectrum so we can remember who we are as
spiritual beings having a physical life and begin to really create the
best version of ourselves. Brian have a chapter “It’s Ok to Fail.” and
he shares with us that concept.

The definition of fail is to fall short of success or achievement in

something expected attempted desired or approved. But failure is good in
that it teaches us so much. Without failure we wouldn’t be the people we
are meant to become. It is an important part of building the foundation
of success. Think of it as a means to the end. Just keep trying and with
each attempt encourage yourself to appreciate your efforts resiliency
and patience for if you are on the right path in your spiritual life
plan eventually you will achieve your goals. Brian says It’s ok to fail.
    In fact it’s recommended.

And allowing yourself to feel vulnerable is a big step in connecting

with important issues and people. The word vulnerable means being open
to moral attack criticism temptation etc. or being capable of or
susceptible to being wounded or hurt. Many people will do everything in
their power to avoid allowing themselves to feel at the deep level or
express their personal truth if they feel they will be citied or harmed
in any way economically socially spiritually or face loss of anything
they hold dear. While being vulnerable isn’t easy Brian deems it to be
well worth the effort. When we begin to see those who open themselves up
it gives others permission to do the same and allows love to expand
accept yourself and life as it is and to empower your ability to create
and express yourselves in ways that illuminate your life to truth and
    wellbeing.

Sheryl feels that Brian’s explanations through the use of words that

explore our human thinking such as vulnerability, creativity, failure,
intuition, balance, foundation, service, intentions, and so on, all
explore the nature of your inner life or soul being so you may have a
framework of guidelines to help you explore and expand your own emotions
leading to more acceptance and appreciation for your life, and creating
a space of peace goodness and kindness within, so you may face the
challenges of your life in a more positive way.

Brian may simply want you to know that anything and everything is

possible when you finally know who you are and begin to move past the
fears and limitations of your childhood training and explore your own
path to enjoy life on your own terms as you give out to the world the
happiness and light you will find in this process of awakening
transforming and living in truth. Brian offers in a clear understandable
process solutions to age old questions that often have eluded many
people and delayed their progress towards healing and living in joy and
    peace.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have seen how G

Brian Benson walked away from a safe and secure lifestyle to pursue his
dreams and spiritual goals taking a chance on life and himself and
ultimately finding his personal power to find joy in aspects of life
that others may not have thought important. Listening to his heart and
following his mind or spiritual connection to all of life he was able to
find and walk his life path to his destiny which was to be a free soul
supporting his discoveries of what is valuable to him and indeed to all
of us. It is the ability to move past fear and limitation and discover
the fire or passion within that allows us to handle our challenges in
appropriate and successful ways doing the best we can in all areas of
our lives. Changing fear to joy happiness and well being is an immense
accomplishment that demands consistent effort self investigation of
emotions and learning to love yourself and others as they are.

As Brian explored the word “Gratitude” which is the quality or feeling

of being grateful or thankful he wrote, “Our attitude is the lens which
we see the world….try and give thanks for all that comes your way, the
good and the bad. You may ask , ”Why would I want to give thanks for
something bad that happened?” Well, we are here to learn and grow, and
the greatest learning opportunities usually occur during trying
experiences. Be thankful for them and the new hopefully wiser you who
come out of a tough situations. The trying times will eventually pass
and you will be better prepared the next time around or better yet, you
can help someone else going through a tough time with your experience.”

Brian and I would have you begin to explore your feelings and let go of

past control instincts to allow life to unfold and to flow with it
instead of resisting out of fears your deepest and most creative loving
instincts. Embrace yourself and life, Live each day with curiosity and
hope and find ways to laugh smile enjoy all the beauty within yourself
and in the World. Make life what you envision and create it as you walk
the path of your life each day.
