Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick author of the final book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which suggests that by observing our inner soul energy and merging that with the challenges of the physical world, we can achieve a peaceful purposeful and healthy life beyond the present challenges of political economic and societal issues, to return to our natural soul state of being, which is eternal and joyful. Sheryl is delighted to welcome Gayle Kimball PhD the Nautilus award winning author of 20 books including Essential Energy Tools and today we will discuss her new trilogy of books Mysteries of Healing Reality and Knowledge Beyond the Senses.
As listeners of Healing From Within Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories and insights into the metaphysical world of energy in an effort to understand Who we are?, Where we come? from and how to improve our time in the physical world as we transcend challenges fears and remember the capacity we have to create with our thoughts and actions a world that shines brightly with hope compassion and for the evolution of soul and human life.
In today’s episode of Healing From Within we will explore with Dr. Gayle Kimball through her informative trilogy which offers personal reflections and insights from many of the leading figures in the modern scientific community who as are those throughout the world finally awakening to a deeper understanding of consciousness the brain-mind connection and the ultimate healing force of our free will.
When Sheryl asks Gayle to think back to her earliest beginnings her childhood and remember a person place or event that may have shown them or others the lifestyle values and interests they might pursue as an adult she immediately reflects on her mother who discussed and took her to a scientific healing community which allowed her the freedom to use her imagination and thoughts to explore openly the world of spiritual energy.
Gayle tells us how this trilogy came to be and how it may offer a clear understanding of the nature of human and spiritual connections.
Dr. Kimball writes, “Many of our scientific beliefs are limited in that they can’t account for the evidence that consciousness exists beyond the brain. The dominant materialist paradigm denies the power of spirit, the miracles of mind and feelings over matter, unconscious access to information, and the possibility of other dimensions beyond what our physical senses tell us—including life after death. The dominant worldview is like the Flatland novel published in 1884 about a two-dimensional world. When the hero first discovers a three-dimensional place, he is only able to see a flat circle. When he sees more and reports back on his discovery, he’s persecuted. It’s also like the story of the Emperor’s New Clothes where the crowd applauds the lie that the naked emperor is wearing beautiful new robes until a small boy has the courage to speak the truth. The dominant worldview often ridicules those with the vision to see other dimensions beyond Flatland, while visionary scientists see the denial of anything but the physical as dogma that ignores extensive research and inhibits our access to subtle information. Courageous scientists, physicians, and psychologists are creating consciousness.
This trilogy Mysteries of Healing Reality Knowledge Beyond the Senses explores the scientist’s life stories and their influences on their beliefs and personal courage, along with their understanding of our purpose as humans and how the universe really works.”
Dr. Kimball shares the amazing insights of 65 metaphysical experts and says she could identify with what Larry Dossey pointed out; “It takes a rabble-rouser to actually develop the courage” to take on the establishment. He added that most peer-reviewed medical journals won’t touch a person on topics like the efficacy of prayer in healing. Like these visionary scientists, curiosity and truth-telling motivate me to point out that the Emperor is naked, there are multiple dimensions and we have access to information and guidance from beyond the physical senses and on their beliefs and personal courage, along with their understanding of our purpose as humans and how the universe really works.
The scientists are often spiritual rather than religious, and many went through an adolescent rebellion against religious dogma. More of them have a Jewish background than would be predicted by the small percentage of Jews in the world population. Jeffrey Mishlove interviewed over a thousand visionary scientists for his video show “New Thinking Allowed.” He reported, “I’ve discovered that quite a number of prominent people in parapsychology have a Jewish background. Jews are a tiny minority but Jewish people are prominent in every cutting edge activity in which I’ve ever been involved. I would say 95% of the people who explore these areas scientifically do so because like me, they have had powerful personal experiences. The other 5 to 10% do it out of intellectual curiosity.”
Sheryl as a Reiki Master Energy Teacher and medium states that as a Jew her family didn’t have an interest in the Kabbalah of the ancient mystical Essene group of healers and visionaries who believed in the After Life angels and many dimensions of life beyond. long Sheryl as a sensitive child sensed there was so much more to life and beyond, though the grown-ups in her life seemed only to be interested in the physical world and what could be seen and appreciated materially. At a young age she saw that the answers she was seeking were not in the religious structured practices of a group. Sheryl has found her spiritual path and ability to connect to Universal Source through meditation and consistent effort to pay attention and try to serve the good of all. She has experienced remote viewing of spiritual communication using the energy of the Universe in her healing practice and as directed by Spirit has written a trilogy of books. Finding God is a personal journey and understanding our soul’s energetic life force is experienced personally as well.
Les Lancaster explained, “the combination of the value placed on learning, the leanings towards mysticism, the eschatological idea of promoting a golden age to come, and the pressures of being in exile was hugely formative for Jews entering the modern era. This is a potent mix that breeds pioneers.
We live now in the most challenging times but can apply mental and physical tools to stay centered and calm. Meditation, music, walking and being in nature finding people who resonate in a higher vibrational energy which simply means they have conquered many of the lower emotions of greed, jealousy, anger, hatred and wish to emit their knowledge and joy in life to others and to serve the highest good of all. By being aware of your immense soul energy and eternal life force we are able to reach greater awareness of the best values within ourselves and rely on our inner wisdom, not the outside world to define our needs and goals.
Although researchers like Dean Radin* report on thousands of double-blind studies with results in some cases trillions of times beyond what you would expect by chance, the findings are often dismissed as pseudoscience or “woo-woo.” Radin suggests, “What is needed for a new paradigm is a more comprehensive model of reality where consciousness becomes just as fundamental, if not more so, than materialism or the pull of outside world influences.
Idealism is very old describing the belief that reality is mentally constructed. Ancient Greek philosophers, such as Anaxagoras in 480 BCE, emphasized the primacy of “mind and consciousness” although his contemporary Plato’s idea of ideal forms is better known. Ancient Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism also recognized that the material world is maya, illusion, and through meditation, sages develop psi abilities called siddhis, such as clairvoyance or bilocation. More modern siddhis are described in Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda. The Bible is full of references to healing, prophecy, prayer, and what Paul calls “gifts of the Holy (Mysteries of Healing page
Having a definition of consciousness and seeking a clearer understanding of “being” pave the way for a more relaxed and enjoyable life experience! Courageous scientists, physicians, and psychologists are creating a new non-materialist scientific paradigm as they struggle to define consciousness. Professor Chris Roe explained, “We don’t have the remotest idea of what we mean by consciousness, ”but“working on the fringes of the anomalies starts to give us answers.” He has the courage to put his head “above the parapet and say the evidence is quite strong,” so he has moved from trying to prove “psi” to researching the process of how it works. “Psi” refers to anomalous extraordinary experiences.
Shamini Jain defines consciousness as the “source and substrate of creation. It is beyond mind, emotion and the physical. It’s what gives rise to the physical.” A useful book is Conscious: A Brief Guide to the Fundamental Mysteries of the Mind by Annaka Harris. The visionary scientists say consciousness doesn’t originate in the brain and they use synonyms like “One Mind, spirit, energy, the Force, matrix, hologram, meaning fields, biofield, cosmic intelligence, information, panpsychism, beyond space and time, substrate, non-physical web, spiritual computer, and fifth dimension.” Its basic language is mathematics and patterns like fractals. This understanding implies there is another dimension beyond space and time, which may enable psi phenomena like clairvoyance, precognition, and distant healing.
Sheryl says as a sensitive but skeptic for most of her earlier life she uses clairvoyance precognition and distant healing and is a Reiki Master Energy Teacher and medium who accesses this connection to higher creative eternal intelligent life force or what is described here as consciousness. In her beginning work, development and practice, the words time and space kept repeating itself to her, she believes it was so she could finally accept the eternal nature of soul life. And to raise her vibration to higher awareness and higher consciousness so she could use her talents to help others especially during the challenging times our nation and world are experiencing now. There is no past present future. All of our experiences are happening simultaneously and we can in dreams or outer body situations be in different dimensions of our life. It is like when a person has a near death experience and is able to tell you of what was going on during the event when he or she was in between worlds and not in their physical body .
Many spiritual leaders talk of a deeper understanding of consciousness, the brain mind connection and the ultimate healing force of our free will. These intertwined thoughts are a process towards self -realization.
Sheryl has discovered that quite simply the brain is the connection to our physical reality and needs, while the Mind or “Super Mind” is the connection to Universal Source or intelligence, the divine or God and higher consciousness where our soul energy resides even when we are having a physical life.
What then is reality? Is there more than what we can know from our five senses? How does healing occur? These questions are all intertwined into an understanding of who we are as spiritual beings having a physical life perhaps projected by our energetic thoughts. We have come to know our powerful thoughts, words and actions can create our reality, and by learning to monitor or direct positive thoughts over negativity, can improve life immensely. Manifesting is not a magical concept but a reality if we can master our energetic thoughts and know ourselves and others as the magnificent potential of the creative force.
Reality is not what we think it is-that’s what I learned from the visionary scientists. Common sense erroneously tells us that we live in a solid material world, that atoms are like billiard balls with definite locations, and time is a one-directional arrow. This is all false. Physicist Max Planck said in 1931, “I have spent my entire life studying atoms and molecules and I’m here to tell you that they don’t exist.” He explained in his book The New Science that there is no matter as such because atoms vibrate, and are held together by a force that indicates a “conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter,” thus, matter is derived from consciousness. The materialist belief is that all information comes from the physical senses via the brain, although many people experience ESP, telepathy, a precognitive dream or intuition, awareness of being stared at, or a dramatic near-death experience (NDE) that reveals other dimensions of life, as it did for neurosurgeon Eben Alexander during his near death experience due to meningitis. Animals also have these abilities, as evidenced in Rupert Sheldrake’s research on dogs that are aware of when their person will come home, even at an unexpected time.
Often to be a change maker or visionary we might encounter friction, doubt, even violent negativity due to fear or ignorance. In exploring the personal background of the scientists formulating this non-materialistic paradigm that expands human potential we find out they possess great courage. They are courageous because in many ways the truth has been proven to them, whether in information received through dreams, meditation, a near death experience, or other mystical events. Once you live in this reality and state of awareness there is no turning back, and there is such joy in the knowledge of Consciousness surviving physical death, that no one could make a believer stop true knowingness.
There is indeed as all these seekers find, other dimensions or a world of energy and life that allows for extraordinary abilities, and these people who explore the nature of divine life are aware of this force of creative eternal life often, interacting on a very intimate and personal level with life forces that exist beyond this physical plane and life. Call it the creative force, Universal Energy or Universal Source God, the divine, guides teachers’ higher vibrational beings, angels, souls of people who you knew In this time and place or elsewhere, but it is all one and the same.
Psychic remote viewers led by Russell Targ* in the StarGate government programs during the Cold War sketched secret Soviet missile silos, a huge new secret Soviet submarine, the location of a downed Russian military plane before it was discovered by the Soviets in North Africa, and drew targets before they were even selected. The remote viewers were only given numbers with no hint about the target, paid attention to their perceptions, and drew pictures of the target while in their offices. Stephan Schwartz worked with remote viewers to discover archeological places such as Cleopatra’s Palace and the Lighthouse of Pharos—one of the seven wonders of the ancient world—as well as sunken ships and a lost Mayan temple. Working in the military as a remote viewer, Paul H. Smith* found the location of drug contraband in a huge container ship while working in his office and suggests that remote viewers also could be used in therapy to explore the roots of psycho-logical problems. Medical intuitive Caroline Myss’ well-known work with Dr. Norm Shealy in his medical practice can be considered a form of remote viewing of a stranger’s body.
It follows from materialism that death ends our awareness, but rigorous triple-blind experiments with mediums who accurately communicate with disembodied spirits are conducted by Ph.D.s Julie Beischel* (Windbridge Institute), Gary Schwartz (University of Arizona), Chris Roe (University of Northampton), and others. Over 2,500 well-documented cases of children who remember their past lives were collected by Ian Stevenson and Ed Kellyat the University of Virginia. The children shared facts, descriptions and knowledge that could be substantiated about people and places they talked about and there was no way they could have been privy to any of the information.
Sheryl tells Gayle that at a workshop years ago with Stephan Schwartz the group engaged in a remote viewing exercise. An object was taken by two people and we had to get information on the place where they went….Sheryl in meditation was able to see that it was in a place with a circular driveway and a doorway with a sign above that read “Enter At Your Own Risk” and inside was a chapel with rounded seating, and people were singing so Sheryl concluded it was a temple or church and indeed, It turned out I was correct. As an empathic intuitive medium Sheryl helps people rediscover their soul energy and life plan by doing readings with Spirit so they can confirm they are on the right life path and can feel confident about necessary choices and actions. Sheryl also helps people remember they are soul beings having a physical life at the moment and if they get in touch with their inner intuitive thoughts, they can create a healthier happier life experience.
The old paradigm which is falling away now, values logic and analytical thinking but is uncomfortable with emotions and the content of the unconscious, while the multi-dimensional approach includes what intuition and dreams reveal from the deeper mind. Larry Burk writes about people who accurately diagnose their own diseases, such as cancer, by paying attention to their dreams. Getting their doctors to pay attention to these dreams was often problematic, or actually led to death that perhaps could have been avoided if the dream diagnosis was taken seriously.
Sheryl says that she often has coincidences and connections to my esteemed guests and in regard to that paragraph have interviewed Larry Burke’s co-author Kathleen O’Keefe Kanavos who actually had cancer and kept going to doctors until they located it and saved her life. As Sheryl said before she did remote viewing with Stephan Schwartz and works somewhat in the style of Edgar Cayce a healer and prophet who died in 1945 also mentioned by Gayle. Like Cayce in meditation she receives messages from Spirit to offer helpful healing of soul needs, not always of the body . Sheryl who has great respect for Edgar Cayce mentioned in this book that she has met Edgar Cayce’s grandson and had a soul reading based on Cayce’s thousands of readings put into computerized messages and still used to offer the wisdom of Universal Source to those who require it. It was right on target for what she needed answered and very helpful.
We go on to have some real super synchronicity here, Gayle writes, “It’s helpful to learn to pay attention to seemingly unrelated synchronistic events, especially what Gary Schwartz* calls “super synchronicity” when we experience six or more related events. They suggest that some form of helpful guidance exists and that we can learn how to access it more deliberately. Sheryl has also met Gary Schwartz.
Gail goes on to mention visionary psychoanalyst Carl Jung who developed the concept of synchronicity when his patient was describing a dream about a scarab beetle as a similar beetle appeared on the window. Dawson Church gives many more examples in his chapter on synchronicity in his book Mind to Matter: The Astonishing Science of How Your Brain Creates Material Reality is a meaningful coincidence of two or more events, where something other than the probability of chance is involved.
As we grow on a spiritual path, it happens more often, suggesting a subtle intelligence at play. As Dean Radin states, “Materialism entails a certain set of assumptions that are perfectly in tune for understanding the physical world. But those assumptions (as we understand them today) cannot easily account for all aspects of reality, especially consciousness and psychic phenomena.”
Readers of this trilogy of Mysteries of Reality Healing and Knowledge Beyond the Senses might want to take away with them after reading your books that perhaps remembering the Greek letter from so long ago that allows an understanding and acceptance of things beyond our senses a higher type of conscious and energy being that is eternal and works quite differently than than the physical world. Psi: A Greek letter used to refer to anomalous experiences, parapsychology and the paranormal. Dean Radin’s list of psi categories is: Healing at a Distance, Mind-Matter Interaction (PK or psychokinesis), Physiological Correlations at a Distance, Precognition & Presentiment, Survival of Consciousness after Death, and Telepathy and ESP.
The power of the mind or connection to higher Source or creative force, unlike the brain which relates to the physical world and a temporary life, is the connection to the intelligence and guidance of the Collective Consciousness.
We thank Dr. Gayle Kimball, author of the trilogy Mysteries of Healing Realities and Knowledge Beyond the Senses for sharing a lifetime pursuit of finding out Who we are? Where do we come from? and how to use the energy of our inner soul essence to further advance the spiritual scientific revolution or evolution we are now fully involved in. To change our world, we must first change ourselves by first recognizing that our thoughts are creating our reality and we must take responsibility, personally and collectively, to engage worthy thoughts and activities and learn to be at peace with life itself.
In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within Sheryl has been delighted to revisit many of the scientists healers and visionaries who she has either met or interviewed over the last twenty five years and as we know from Sheryl’s first book in the trilogy: Life is No Coincidence The Life and Afterlife Connection she considers all who have awakened to the greatest truth of reality consciousness energy healing and the infinite wisdom of a loving expanding evolving Universal source of intelligence and infinite life are truly blessed to know who they are and to walk this time in this physical life without fear of death seeking hope joy positivity, and to serve and lead, with integrity and courage. Gayle Kimball, author of a trilogy of Mysteries of Reality Healing and Knowledge Beyond the Senses has travelled the same road and concluded beyond the shadow of a doubt that so much exists beyond the physical world and life.
Gayle writes, “The three books in the Mysteries Trilogy explore how consciousness shapes reality, enables healing and provides access to knowledge from beyond the physical senses. These trailblazing scientists conclude that we are more than our physical bodies with more potential than we realize and that science needs to expand to account for consciousness. The new science embraces all of science, but it’s reframing it to have a bigger perspective. This means that we can make sense of data that doesn’t fit and we can make new predictions that can be tested, confirmed, or disconfirmed. It’s an expansion of science that reverses and changes the way you experience what you know,” explained Gary Schwartz. He added, “This perspective turns everything on its head. It’s like realizing that the sun no longer revolves around the earth” and encourages reuniting science and spirituality (as discussed in Edward Kelly et al.’ Beyond Physicalism: Toward Reconciliation of Science and Spirituality). The scientists are concerned that the prevailing materialist paradigm limits our abilities and has devastating consequences, including polluting our planet. As youth climate activists say, there is no planet B.”
Gayle and Sheryl would have listeners know that in search of truth one finds an enormous amount of free will, freedom, peace, love, and the path to really enjoy relationships, nature, and the spiritual aspects of ourselves, for in actuality, that is all one and we are energy swirling through endless time and space. No past present or future, just the eternal life force of creation and it is a wonderful life.

Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick author of her newest book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which shares stories and messages from Spirit that show us our modern day challenges are not economic political societal but a disconnect from our inner true being spiritual soul wisdom. Sheryl is delighted to welcome musician Bob Hillary, author of Simplify who shares his decision to reject our modern way of living after it made him seriously ill and to return to nature and a simpler lifestyle.
As listeners of” Healing From Within” are well aware, Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories and insights into the metaphysical world of energy science, spirituality and modern day life as we discuss the duality and nature of both spiritual and physical life challenges. In order to create or manifest our best version of yourself and live a prosperous, healthy and happy life we must merge our spiritual awareness with physical ego -based thinking and create opportunities for self-investigation and self-mastery of our emotions which is only possible by an introspective look at self.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Bob Hillary shares a manual for switching off your digital lifestyle, detaching from all your stuff and finding a peaceful, stable and happy way of being. He provides 21 practices to help you simply life so stress is reduced and healing can begin.-
When Bob is asked to think back to their childhood and remember a person place event that may have shown them or others the lifestyle and interests they might embrace as an adult for Sheryl feels the life plan or destiny of each soul is there at the beginning only waiting to be discovered and lived out by the person and Bob tells us that as a child his absolute idol was the famous explorer Sir Edmund Hillary a relative of his and the first man to climb the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest. His story always inspired Bob to aim high, live wild and not settle for normal in my life. Bob was brought up on a rural organic farm. His reality was pretty much roaming endlessly in nature, making dens and mud pies. So you could say that Bob grew up with this simple thing—it’s in his roots. And Bob tells us he is very grateful to have grown up that way. Bob tells us of his grandmother Annabelle who he adored who taught him all about growing our own food. She was something of an expert. Her garden was immense: chock full of edible vegetable delights. My parents also grew our own food on the farm which we children would pick fresh from the garden for dinner. These early experiences went in deep and gave me a good grounding in life. Twenty years on, living in a technology-dominated culture, Bob found himself increasingly revisiting these experiences and enjoying the sanity, peace and clarity of living simply.
Bob tells us why he decided to share his story with the public in his book Simplify. And the most important self- aware factor that came out of this book.
Bob tells us that this book is for anybody who is disillusioned and looking for answers in a world that seems to offer none. Where always on mass smartphone addiction and social isolation seem to be the order of the day. We are all feeling the strain. Why does the strain even need to be there? Could there be another way to live? A simpler way? The ever- faster pace of life shows no sign of stopping. The signs of an unhappy groaning planet struggling to support our endless need for more, more, more are becoming increasingly obvious. We are currently losing 150 species from our animal and plant kingdom EVERYDAY not to mention huge problems like the melting ice caps, plastic-filled oceans and over-population. The great paradox of these times is that many of us are increasingly seeing and feeling that this way of living really isn’t serving us or the planet. We may be unsure of how to go forward. We would like to live in slower simpler truer more balanced ways revolving less around the virtual world and more around the real world. We would like to live saner, healthier, better, happier lives in community and connected to actual physical people rather than their virtual versions. We are being called to do this…Think of the overuse of plastics, our endless consumption, dominant and domineering governments, stress levels being at an all time high. It is time to listen to the cries of the Earth and to change. Basically, we don’t have much time left on this planet if we don’t. It is time to step up and change.
Bob tells us of his own awakening and his own story and what guided him to find peace and health by living a new way.
Bob writes, “I have spent 15 years unhooking my life from the more negative aspects of our modern society. I have explored living off-grid without a phone or TV spending time outside the matrix and reconnecting with the land. I have found that what society tells us we need to have in our lives we really don’t need at all. So five years ago, I decided to up sticks and go and explore living off-grid. In the Welsh mountains. In a field. In a yurt. I reached a point in my life where I had had enough. I woke up—in my high rent endless utility bills work for the man-taxes -paying routine—and something just snapped. I remembered my childhood and a voice deep within me said, loudly, go look for another way. So, I did. I bought a small, very cheap piece of rural land in the hills of Wales and my wife and I moved onto it. I gave away most of my possessions—ALL of the clutter I’d been dragging from rented house to rented house for years—I stopped paying taxes, bills and rent and started living from the land. Mainly I learned to connect with the land and the medicine that it carries. It was epic. We spent two years living on that land and learned a lot. We learned to live with very little. It was tough but it was beautiful. And most of all it was illuminating. It showed me clearly what society looks like from the outside. I saw how we are all living under a dense blanket of Wi-Fi and we were trapped in a system that seems to amplify anxiety, fear and panic. I saw how things like mortgages and even technology trap us and how we often can’t see the way out.
After about two years of living off the grid I brought the medicine that I’d picked up on that land and brought it back to society. I was beginning to miss people. I felt like I had learned what I needed to. We moved into an actual house using solar panels on my roof and built a big wood burner and grew our own food in the garden. I now get about 40 percent of what I eat from my own garden. Now I travel and live as a singer-songwriter singing about what I learned in my time-off-grid and trying to help others find their own way out of the matrix. I also wrote this book as proof that there is another way. I learned to live more simply and become something like an “Earth Warrior. I healed my mind of fear and replaced it with love. I found a power that I had not been taught about at school lying deep within the earth. A power that spoke to my soul, and which healed me. I learned how to tap into it. And this power is something that is still with me teaching me every day.
It is clear to me that the times we are heading into are calling loudly for us All to become Earth Loving individuals—Earth Warriors—honoring our planet and taking responsibility for its welfare.
Bob goes on to tell us what an Earth Warrior is. An Earth Warrior lets go of all the things in life that were limiting them, keeping them small and powerless and tying them into a system that they often didn’t agree with. An Earth Warrior is basically someone who cares about the Earth, their own priorities and who strives to live life with integrity and authenticity. It’s someone who doesn’t overconsume. Someone who is responsible with their life choices, especially those that impact the environment. Who lives life consciously rather than following the norm. And most importantly, an Earth Warrior wont’ wander from this path regardless of what others say to them, whether this be friends, family, colleagues or a boss—a true Earth Warrior is someone strong enough in themselves to follow this internal call to respect themselves, the planet and their fellow human beings and where every action in life reflects this. If we wake up—individually and collectively—there is really a limitless awesome potential of where we could steer things and what we could make of this beautiful planet. We could if we wanted to turn it into a Paradise or perhaps “Heaven on Earth.”
This is about spiritual awakening people. This is about accepting the invitation to join the ever growing ranks of like -minded Earth Warriors and get left behind. It is about the best version of you that you could possibly be and doing your utmost to steer your life and in turn the direction of all of our lives, towards a better future.
Bob writes about the Slow Living Movement. This includes downscaling and rewilding and tips to moderate your use of technology in this overwhelming digital age. As life seems to be getting faster and faster, many of us are starting to react and are moving in the opposite direction—we are looking for slowness. For stillness. To live more natural, less complex lives. The human spirit can only handle so much before it cries: Wait a minute, something is not right here. The Slow Living Movement seeks to balance out the madness. To slow things down. To allow people to live more manageable lives in tune with nature’s rhythms and to enjoy little things. The good things that don’t necessarily cost money. SLOW stands for Sustainable, Local, Organic and Whole It is a global movement. This movement inspires people to have enough breathing space in their lives and for them to have time to CARE
Downscaling becomes part of the plan and process to change a complicated life to a simpler life. One of the things to do when you decide to simplify life is to cut out everything you don’t need. It sounds simple and it is. Many of us have a lot of stuff—stuff we don’t use, stuff that we don’t even remember we have, and it takes up headspace sometimes without us realizing it. It clutters us. Downscaling is about getting rid of what doesn’t serve to make room for clarity, headspace and well new energy. Many of us are caught in life where we pay for things we don’t need subscriptions, membership rental or hire charges. We absorb hundreds if not thousands of advertising messages each day—companies and corporations WANT us to constantly be spending and try to sell us stuff we don’t need.
Six Tips for Effective Downscaling

Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSIt is helpful to get in touch with nature. Bob writes “Nature is beautiful, boundless, utterly fascinating, calming and deeply healing. Nature is my remedy: when it’s all getting too much I take myself off into nature and I sit. I rest. I let my brain untangle from all the human stresses that I am exposed to. My mind is settled by the sheer simplicity and deep calm of nature. Nature is slow. Nature is calm. It doesn’t rush. If we want a simpler life then we can learn so much from nature. It can be our wisest and most effective teacher in showing us how to slow down and start enjoying life more. If we can only slow down enough to listen to what it has to say.
Some people think we have to Rewind Ourselves. Bob says that many of us are searching for our wildness these days. More and more of us don’t want to be living civilized and tame lives. We need to be wild again.
Sheryl says maybe it means we want to feel again….to feel passion love joy and the beauty of Spirit shine through us from above to below so we know ourselves as divine beings of unlimited potential to know joy love and compassion. Societal rules and socialization leading to group think are over-civilizing us and we are sensing it. This civilizing can be traumatizing because actually we are not civilized, we are wild. On some level we were hunter gatherers and we have been that way since the beginning of time—it’s in our roots. It’s important we don’t lose this part of us.
Another quality so often squashed in today’s busy world is the simple ability to think for ourselves. To become aware of our actions and decisions every day so we don’t just blindly follow the crowd or like sheep do what you think society expects of you. Take a moment to really decide for yourself. We must also allow our planet to rewild and stop stripping the Earth of its life, giving forests and turning over too much land for agriculture and must preserve nature.
There are some tips for rewilding yourself.
Tips for Rewilding Yourself
Many people know the best things in life are free… When we slow down and start to heal, we can notice the simple things. When we rush along in our busy lives our minds become so cluttered that we can’t focus on the sheer beauty of life that is all around us.
Some of Bob’s favorite things are:
The 21 practices to Help Simplify Your Life include:
Bob might like readers to take away with them after reading Simplify that quite simply the world is changing. This is a time of transition. Changing worn-out and out of date systems in the world. And the absolute best thing you can do right now is to embrace this. Fully. With open arms. Welcome change. We have been expecting you. Thank you for coming. Everything from the way the government works to how we dispose of our garbage—it’s all changing. And we are at the present in the stage of transition from the old to the new.
Start focusing on placing your energy and attention on things you love doing and take your energy away from things you don’t love doing. Every day for a week, think of something you really like to do and do it like baking a cake or taking a long relaxing bath or seeing a movie. At the same time bring to mind something that you don’t really want to do. And resolve not to do it. Don’t spend some time speaking to that person who makes you feel insecure. Say not to the person asking just too many favors. Where energy goes, energy flows. So be careful of your own energy. Don’t leak it away. You will soon find that your positive energy will increase the more you do things you love and the things you don’t love will become less as time goes on. Feed your soul, not the man.
We thank Bob Hillary author of Simplify: How to Stay Sane In a World Going Mad for an uncomplicated detailed manual to understanding what’s happening in this time of world wide chaos and change for sharing ways to understand energy, self, and the world so we can find our most soulful direction to living with health vitality balance purpose and happiness. To get a real clear view of how to walk the path of self- evolution and self realization while mastering and refining your emotions and at the same time simplifying your material world we suggest you read this book.
In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within Bob Hillary has shared his amazing journey leaving behind life as he was living it and all that didn’t serve him in his physical and spiritual life, and finding new ways to reduce the stress of his technological overload and a path to peace through downscaling and finding and accepting himself away from the pressures and expectations of society.
Bob writes,” In order to really engage with the world around us to be fully and powerfully present and to live a life of simplicity we need to ground ourselves in a solid rooted unswayable connection to the earth. Grounding in essence is living connected to the earth—physically mentally spiritually emotionally energetically. Many of us these days are getting a little lost in technology. The danger of this is that we can become disconnected from the earth. The best thing you can do to ground yourself is to start healing your past traumas. Our traumas are mostly the emotional and psychic wounds we have received while growing up as children—this is what blocks us from being fully in our bodies. They are wounds to the spirit. The pain can feel too much, we might not have learned how to deal with it, so we can check-out and leave our bodies to disconnect from the feelings. There are also wounds that can occur as adults too: we need to start on the healing to get into what’s happening within.”
Sheryl writes in her final book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening a book of stories and messages from Spirit that show us our challenges are not economic, political or societal, just a spiritual disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom.
“Since most people fear change, they resist commitment to their soul growth or development. They linger in a state of physical unconsciousness. It is easier to feed the physical body than it is to feed your spiritual essence. There can be little change in a person’s understanding of who they are when they are only concerned with the joys of a physical life. I believe that we are all entitled to a beautiful and joyful material life, but it will not happen fully if we only focus on that end and the spiritual concerns and issues of a person are denied. When one aspires to love their essence and entire being, physical and energetic, major changes in all aspects of life must occur.”
Bob and Sheryl would have you begin a personal transcendence of the complications of this physical world and life, to reside in the energy within which holds the wisdom of the Universe which can guide us through these changing times to find our Higher Selves. We will then find solutions to the many problems we are facing worldwide and begin to create a community of spiritually connected people acting in balance with the circle of life.

Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSAs listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories and a growing awareness that life is a duality both physical and spiritual for we are indeed spiritual beings having a physical life. In learning that when all energy is engaged and utilized we put aside the false reality of duality and come into a realization of the Oneness of all life. We realize our greatest potential to thrive and enjoy life in all dimensions of true awareness. Merging our spiritual gifts with the physical life experience gives us the ability to thrive, manifest and create and live a happy healthy prosperous joyful life experience as well as advance our soul energetic refinement towards greater compassion and love.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within ” Codi Shewan, now a motivational speaker, formerly had a 20 year career as a funeral director and his experiences facing death every day taught him a lot of lessons about living. Through powerful stories Shewan’s message is simple: In each moment we have the ability to change ourselves and those around us in profound ways!
When Sheryl asks Codi to think back to his childhood and remember a person, place event or interest that may have shown him or others around him the lifestyle or adult life he would choose to live he tells us “Besides my mother, my grandmother has been the most important person in my life. She was my best friend. I often thought of myself as a weird kid and didn’t seem to fit in anywhere, but I always fit in with her. Many children like spending time with their grandparents but I loved it. We would routinely go to play minigolf or go swimming at a local beach. We were inseparable. She was so easygoing and lovely. I know now that she was trying to fill the gap that her son left in my life, which only expanded my love for her.
Pat my was short for Patricia and she had been born into an affluent family. Her family owned a private school in England. It didn’t hurt that she was British and the accent helped too. During our visits we bonded over tea toast and bacon. But her affluent life ended when she was eight years old and the school was overtaken by the Second World War. Her father died after mysteriously falling through one of the school’s second story windows. The family immigrated to Canada, but it was jarring to go from wealth to poverty so quickly. My grandmother had such a warm open heart and loved deeply and lived simply. Going from wealth to poverty gave her a perspective on what was important. It was immensely important to her to have character and integrity, a quiet conviction and a servant’s heart. And, above all else, to love deeply. At the time of Grandma Pat’s death I felt so angry that I only had twenty seven years with her. She died so young. There was so much life in her, but dementia had other plans.
As a developing intuitive healer and medium years ago, Sheryl became a hospice volunteer for 8 years trying to help people soon to transition to life beyond here and their families to know there is no death—just a transition to higher dimensions of energetic soul life. As a funeral director were you aware that Consciousness survives physical death? Codi tells us about volunteering in palliative care or end of life care and his fascination with the funeral profession. Palliative care is where people go to die. When people enter palliative care, their illness has progressed beyond treatment. It is often also called hospice or end of life care. In most instances Codi introduced himself to the patients offered to read to them and they might or might not take me up on that suggestion and if a visitor arrived Codi excused himself. But Codi felt comfortable in that setting and helped the patients to relax also.
Sheryl tells Codi that as a hospice volunteer for 8 years after her mom died in hospice care and as a developing energy practitioner and medium she felt it was the place where I could help souls transition and their families to know “Consciousness survives physical death” and life was eternal. In my book A New Life Awaits, I share many stories and messages from Spirit and from lessons and people I spent time with at hospice that validate the truth of these statements.
“Sheryl wrote,” I realize now the reason Spirit told me I had to do a third book, A New Life Awaits: Spirit Guided Insights to Global Awakening, about the new life we create each and every day of life by the choices we make and hopefully with a growing soul awareness of what waits for us beyond a short-lived physical life. We may learn about the journey of transcendence after physical death, hoping to ultimately prove our eternal soul meets all those loved ones in Spirit, where we continue on our journey of life for our continued personal soul development. Whether in a body or in pure energy, the soul is the essence and complete oneness of Spirit’s Intelligence and Universal Love and travels with us through time and space, lifetime after lifetime, as we gather experiences to refine our already magnificent soul. Death, in my opinion, is merely the next destination or adventure in our continuous circle of life. There really is no death, only the unfolding of the infinite layers of realities that exist within us, in this world, and beyond. These layers are filled with the excitement and wonderment of the beauty of nature, friendship, memories, and experiences gathered during many lifetimes.”
Sheryl tells Codi she always has wonderful coincidences or synchronicity with her amazing guests and today we have one. Codi writes about Malala who when she was eleven years old and was blogging for the BBC about the Taliban attacking schools stopping girls from being educated, Malala continued to speak out about her right to be educated and the rights of all women to be educated. At the age of fifteen when riding a bus home from school, Malala was shot in the head. But the bullet did not kill her or kill her spirit. On her sixteenth birthday Malala gave a speech at the United Nations about education and women’s rights only nine months after being shot. She strongly urged leaders to change these antiquated policies. At seventeen years old Malala became the youngest person ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Malala is living her Everyday Legacy. This year one of my twin granddaughters dressed up in a costume portraying Malala and Sheryl was so delighted. Sheryl carries a picture of her in that sensitive choice of representing courageous women.
Codi tells us why he decided to write and speak about how we can live more purposefully every day.
Codi writes, “For as long as I can remember something inside me has stirred. Before I decided to write this book, I couldn’t have told you what that stirring was. I just felt an overwhelming sense that I had a greater purpose: that I was being prepared for something. I had tried more than once to write books about business and the successful strategies I’d gathered and implemented over the years. My attempts flopped.
Sheryl says that she also tried several times to write a book but stopped: perhaps the time or subject matter were not what she was supposed to be working on. However, twenty five years ago, after a series of metaphysical mystic experiences Sheryl was told she would write three books and she just finished the trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening in March 2020 just when the Coronavirus plague hit. Life plans and destiny happen in the right time and setting and are not always what we thought would happen. Miracles and surprises are the fun of life and the universe. We are truly born with a capacity to have our soul enriched and our energy refined and in time if we are paying attention, we find the best parts of ourselves, which were always there.
Codi goes on to describe the estranged relationship with Bob, Codi’s father which may have led him to realize that the perceptions of failure in that relationship were within his ego mind story and that by learning to control the ego he could discover “There’s more here than I know or am being told.” Codi’s ego went to Bob’s funeral thinking his distant and uncaring father didn’t even deserve one. But at the funeral he kept his mind open wide enough to think Okay here’s more information. Here’s a perspective about my father and his life I didn’t have before. Wow. His friends really loved him.
Controlling the ego can be a constant struggle as we all know. You might begin to think Ugh, I have to be around those people again but then another voice pipes up and says Well , I don’t know what’s going on in their world. I should be kinder. If you are having this type of struggle you are in the process of trying to get control over your ego. Codi tells us if he had allowed his ego to continue controlling the conversation, he would never have found a way to make peace with Bob and what a shame that would have been for him.
Codi often says when he arranged funerals he would hear what he has come to call Echoes of Regret, people wishing they had spent more time with those around them who mattered, given one more hug, or told loved ones how they truly felt. He tells us more about that. A regret is something we wish we had done differently. Regrets will feed your ego and burden your conscience. But we have the power to avoid regrets. To live without regret means to communicate with love and empathy.
Although Codi verbally tells people he loves them, there are many ways to express love. Some people show their love through actions rather than words. Whether you are saying it, or showing it through behavior, as long as it’s consistent and congruent with what you want to be remembered for, you aren’t going to live with Echoes of Regret. Before someone is gone you can prevent the” I should have” and the “I wish I had” and reach a resolution with someone you might otherwise attach a regret to. You can have a conversation and shift behaviors and perceptions to a more realistic or positive reality. Frequently, when doing things to limit Echoes of Regret, we realize that our acts of kindness, generosity of spirit, and philanthropic efforts have far more consequence for us than for the benefactors. When the end moves closer, if you are living consciously and purposefully, you can rest assured knowing your loved ones do not doubt that they mattered to you. Void of regrets.
Sheryl remembers when she was 17 years old she went to a Broadway show “Man of La Mancha,” and heard the song the Impossible Dream which became the destiny she eventually found she was born to realize, and like Codi, Sheryl in finding the connection to her spiritual gifts, learned to know the true meaning of following your soul’s destiny and fulfilling your eternal life mission Sheryl found her mission in the words of the song, The Impossible Dream. Here are a few words that truly resonated within her:
“To dream the impossible dream,
To fight the unbeatable foe,
To bear with unbearable sorrow,
To run where the brave dare not go.
To right, the un-rightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar,
To try when your arms are too weary,
To reach the unreachable star.
This is my quest,
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless,
No matter how far.
To fight for the right
Without question or pause,
To be willing to march into
Hell for a heavenly cause.
And I know if I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m laid to rest
And the world will be better for this.”
Sheryl has found when we have walked the path of the Divine, sharing our passion for higher truths in all the experiences and with all the people we have met no matter how hard the journey has been we have trust in the universal plan of life. We then have recognized the divinity within and have shared it with the world to the best of our ability.
Codi tells us what he has learned as a result of his estranged father’s funeral. Codi tells us that his father Bob and he had a fractured relationship. Bob and his mother didn’t stay together very long after Codi was born. They separated when Codi was just three years old. People liked Bob but he wasn’t much of a father or husband. When Codi was about seven his mother remarried. Codi writes, “when stepparents come into your life, a common line is “ I’m not here to replace your father or mother.” But for Codi there was no one to replace. He didn’t know what having a father was like. The older Codi became the more distant his father Bob became and he only lived a mere fifteen miles away. Every Christmas Codi was obliged to visit him in his basement. He would give me a piece of art he had made. He didn’t have any money. There really was no connection. Codi went through school for mortuary science and became a funeral director and embalmer. He often thought “Does my father expect me to help with his funeral when he dies?” “Why would he want a funeral? Funerals are to celebrate life and we have nothing to celebrate about this man.” The time came when Codi got a call from his mother that his father had died. Emotions hit Codi that he didn’t expect. The hope from Codi’s childhood that the relationship between them would improve had vanished. It was a surreal experience to make funeral arrangements. As Codi and his uncle emptied the apartment, friends of Bob came by and offered the names of others who would be pallbearers. Codi was surprised there were so many. His friends told my uncle and Codi how great Bob was, but this was not the man or father Codi had known. Even through all the reconciling of his death, Codi managed to recognize and appreciate the fact that while he wasn’t much of a father, apparently, he was one heck of a friend.
Codi also learned that there is a magical time in many young people’s lives when their relationship with their parents starts to shift and if they’re lucky, their parents become their friends, too. It’s a beautiful harmony. Today Codi hangs out with his mother and stepfather. If Bob had lived longer they might have hit that stride. They might have moved past the fractured nature of our relationship.
Sheryl says as a medium she has come to know that souls become aware of relationships in the afterlife that they wish could have resolved when alive. In the afterlife many are able to heal and communicate with living loved ones with a new perspective of why they had difficulties, and do something to heal those feelings. Relationships may be healed via dreams, astral travel, medium readings, or when we meet again beyond this life.
Codi tells us about when he volunteered at palliative care, also called hospice, and one particular interaction with one of the patients Roy. Codi tells us about volunteering in palliative care or end of life care and his fascination with the funeral profession. Palliative care is where people go to die. When people enter palliative care, their illness has progressed beyond treatment. It is often also called hospice or end of life care. In most instances Codi introduced himself to the patients, offered to read to them, and they might or might not take him up on that suggestion and if a visitor arrived Codi excused himself. There, Codi met Roy, a pastor who had performed hundreds of funerals for his parishioners over the years. Roy had spent his life on the pulpit conveying what he thought to be the truth through his words. Roy knew what he believed and was generous with his love and wisdom. Roy didn’t look or behave like the other patients. An Evangelical pastor in his eighties battling cancer, he was alert, lucid, chipper, spry and curious. Roy hung on to life for a while longer. Codi was in his first year of college when Roy passed. In retrospect Codi says he believes he was meant to be with Roy and specifically the most important lessons that Codi learned in palliative care came from listening. Nothing survives palliative care except the lessons that family volunteers and medical staff learn. What we learn from listening just might live on forever.
Codi tells us of that day July 17, 2009 when he saw his grandmother on the subway. Codi writes, “On July 17, 2009 Codi saw his grandmother Pat on the subway. Some might say, “That’s nice” or “Big Deal.” Either way it is. She died in 2005. Lulled by the rocking of the subway, I glanced right and there she was, a woman in her seventies, standing swaying waiting to arrive at her destination. She looked remarkably like my grandmother only she appeared to be of African descent and my grandmother was European. But the shape of her face, her eyes, her hair, even the way she stood—it was as if my grandmother were there again, not ten feet away. I hoped this woman was loved and appreciated and her family cherished every moment they had with her. I knew what I did for Codi’s grandmother was to make him an incredible human being.”
Sheryl says “as a medium I have often seen the features and energy of a soul imprinted on another living person. It is called “Soul Overlay.” In my new book A New Life Awaits, I tell the story of my Uncle Hy who was a bigger than life personality appearing before me in a car that passed by and minutes later on the boardwalk as a man who looked exactly like him walked by me and then a third time before leaving the beach. It alerted me to call my uncle when I got home and my aunt told me her father who was in Spirit had looked very much like my uncle and obviously he wanted to say hello to his daughter, my aunt Lilly, and for her to tell me the story that a week before he died, my aunt had a dream of his passing but didn’t say anything. Sometimes sensitive people or mediums pick up the fact that someone will be passing but we cannot change events. I think Codi’s grandmother imprinted her energy on this other woman so Codi could know his grandmother was still close by.”
Codi would like readers to take away with them after reading Everyday Legacy the following. Codi writes, “You are going to die. Creating an Everyday Legacy is about taking that inevitable fact and shifting your intention from leaving a legacy to living it. A great power exists in consciously living your legacy every single day. Someone once said that while we will all die, not all of us live. Living a legacy is about embracing who we are and the gifts we can give to the world and offering those qualities in our daily interactions, to shape how we live. The beautiful part of this shift is that it makes the end irrelevant. Death could be anywhere on the horizon, but if you’re living more purposefully and powerfully today, it doesn’t matter where that end is.
This changes our relationship with death. Learning to live in a meaningful way quiets the fear of death because the resonance of our purpose is so loud. Another important aspect of living your Everyday Legacy is helping people become aware of what they will be remembered for. Once you’re are dialed into this energy you’ll naturally want to point out to others their unique greatness.”
So how do you want to be remembered? If you are like most people you might say. I want to be remembered as a good mother, friend, teacher, nurse. BUT THAT’S NOT A LEGACY. Legacy isn’t a title. Legacy isn’t an occupation. It’s who you are and what you give to people. It is all the qualities of being patient kind loving attentive and thoughtful and how you touch your children and every other person in your life. It is the ability to be inspiring empathic and compassionate, selfless with your time and support others.
Sheryl would like to thank Codi Shewan, author of Everyday Legacy, for sharing a very different and unique look at the qualities of life which truly enhance our soul and our personality, making life a more joyful and fulfilling experience, while understanding some of the difficulties in relationships actually serve to help us find what truly rings out loud and clear, with authentic love and respect for people and life.
In summarizing today’s episode of :Healing From Within,” we have shared the insightful and delightful discoveries that Codi Shewan has made as he found a way to resolve within himself the hurtful relationship with his father sharing how to move past traumas and wounds of childhood finding gratitude for life and learned to appreciate the deep love for self and the truth always within of his capacity to share kindness love patience thoughtfulness attentiveness and support for all the people in your life.
Codi shares a quote from the sage Lao Tzu: “When I let go of what I am I become what I might be. When I let go of what I have, I receive what I need. You may realize that an overactive ego might prohibit more loving interactions.”
In other words when you let go of who you think you are, you meet your awakened self. You also learn to accept all people, even those who may have been difficult for you to understand or appreciate. When you understand that a person may be acting under the compulsion of their ego rather than the finer essence of their soul which may still lie dormant at the moment, you can walk away from negative experiences realizing that was a miserable ego rather than merely a miserable person.
Codi and Sheryl would have you remember that whatever you choose to do or be part of if it comes from a place of love it will refine your spirit and how you show up each day in sharing the magnificent soul beauty from within and will bring joy to you and everyone you met.

Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick, author of her newest book in the trilogy A New Life Awaits which shares stories and messages from Spirit to show us that our challenges are not merely economic, political or societal issues but a disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom. In today’s episode Julia Keys and Jacqueline Coles authors of The MANscript will share how finding out about her famous husband having an affair with a friend of her daughters while devastating was a way for her to identify her own inner strength and find a way to master her emotions.
As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories and insights into the dual nature of our spiritual and physical lives in the attempt to self- investigate and understand the many difficulties people face in family parental and spousal relationships, for we find relationships are the way we learn to understand our emotions and reactions to all events in our lives and rediscover life is really a journey of the soul to remember the infinite potential we have to thrive and evolve in a world that is always changing.
In today’s episode of Healing From Within Julia Keys author of The MANscript will share learning about the affair of her husband Richard Keys which was even harder for her and the family as he was a celebrity and it was in the tabloids and the aftermath that followed. The ordeal tore Julia and her family apart and Julia and her friend Jacqui, both nurses and counselors created the book The MANscript which outlines what men say and do when they are caught cheating so that women can identify it. We will learn essential information on dealing with emotions and how to make the best decisions for the future after a hurtful situation.
When Julia is asked to think back to her childhood and remember a person place or event that may have signaled to her or others the lifestyle she might embrace as an adult she immediately tells of sitting with her father at the piano where her father played without being able to read music and how she so enjoyed that special time with him. Sheryl remembers having a grandmother who also played beautifully without reading music and her father who played the violin. Music is the language of the soul and deep wisdom and brings a feeling of connectedness and safety often into our complicated lives.
Julia tells us why she wrote this book and how infidelity affected her. The MANScript is designed to help you.

Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSThe MANScript is designed to bring your attention to the various scripts that men use when cheating. Armed with this knowledge, you will be more able to talk about your suspicions, Julia Keys and Jacqui Coles in a calm and appropriate manner show readers how to ask questions early on when you intuitively have a gut feeling that something is not right and communicating your concerns with your partner. You are then opening the door to an opportunity to discuss the worries you both may have. This book will guide you through all the emotions you feel, from that initial twinge of suspicion to potentially dealing with the pain and grief at the loss of a relationship
Infidelity can be devastating , often destroying families and leaving the victim the betrayed partner, feeling like they can never trust another partner again. Sometimes women are the last to know they are being cheated on and once they do find out, they have no idea how to deal with the practical issues that infidelity creates, let alone the emotional debris. Now here is the MANscript the first book of its kind to outline exactly what men say and do when they are cheating and how to cope with the aftermath.
Throughout this book, we are very clear that it is a person’s choice to have an affair and that applies to both men and women. Jacqui and I want to emphasize that without communication in a relationship, there is no opportunity for you or your partner to put right what may be wrong. This is when regrets can kick in and you may find yourself looking back and wishing you had done certain things; had more sex or shown him more love. Whatever your regret might be, if your partner had talked before taking the decision to have an affair, maybe it could have been prevented. That is why we say it is not your fault if your partner chooses to have an affair and not talk to you. We strongly encourage you to talk, talk, talk—about any problems you have—in the hope that you can avoid the pain of betrayal. If he can communicate what was wrong with your relationship as an excuse for cheating, then he could have told you before he was tempted to cross the line.
If you/your partner has been unfaithful but want to repair your relationship the most important script that you need to know about to save your relationship, is the Reconciliation Script. This is the script that he must commit to, for you to have any chance of trusting him again.
The Reconciliation Script He must:
How does Julie?
Julia helps readers navigate the tumult an affair causes to emerge stronger and happier as well as to help her clients realize that they are often not to blame for what their partner chose to do. She encourages talking about it and finding support groups to see them through the painful changes that come as a result of the breakdown of a relationship that should have been sacred. The majority of women we speak to say their main and only support has been friends, usually more so than family. In many cases, they kept the pain and anguish hidden from their loved ones. There is a fear of being judged by other people (and sometimes concern about the partner being judged). The fear of being viewed as a failure has been their primary motivation for keeping the situation a secret. This can lead some susceptible women into isolation, depression and anxiety. There is one word that sums up the feelings you have after finding out you have been cheated on and that is excruciating. It can be so damaging to women, yet infidelity is the elephant in the room. It happens all the time, but for some women there is a reluctance to talk about it, or acknowledge it, mainly because of shame. How a woman deals with the impact of an affair can significantly impact her self-esteem, her health and that of her friends, family and children, if applicable. Why is it that a woman can carry the burden of that shame when it is her partner who should be the shameful one? Feelings of shame can lead to poor mental and physical health, panic attacks, and loss of confidence. Experts believe it can cause Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
One thing is for sure; unwanted images, irrational thoughts, emotional numbness, fear, a foggy mind, an inability to sleep and unpredictable explosions of anger and/or uncontrollable sobbing, can overwhelm every woman who has been betrayed. A woman can also become totally obsessed with wanting to know the truth and become a super-vigilant, amateur detective and forensic investigator.
As women, we can also inflict excruciating pain on ourselves by taking the blame for our partner’s actions. Many women follow a self-blame script. By doing this, we deflect the responsibility away from our partner and give him the perfect justification for his actions. We have deliberately repeated some messages about looking after yourself and not taking the blame. This is imperative to your recovery. We want to keep reminding you that it was your partner’s choice to have an affair, that you did not ‘make’ him do it and that it is not your fault; he made that choice. You deserve to be valued and respected. You will see throughout the pages of the book we do not use the word humiliated. Many women use this word to explain how they feel after discovering their partner’s affair. We don’t use it because it is not you who should be humiliated. It is your partner and the Other-Woman. They are the ones who should be humiliated by the way they have behaved. If you are one of those women, who is feeling humiliated,
Knowing your partner is following the same script as many other men will empower you to see how unimaginative a man who cheats really is. Information gives a person power. It enables you to make decisions, which keep you safe and reduce your vulnerability. The author’s main aim in this book is to give the power back to you.
Some men may feel it is their right and it is natural for them to be involved with other women. There is an old patriarchal belief that it is acceptable and they don’t realize the damage and harm they do to their spouses or partners. Julia writes, “Some men have said this book is ‘too accurate to publish.’ Other men have been extremely supportive—surprisingly, many are men who have had an affair—while other men, the naysayers, have used words such as ‘dispirited’, ‘distasteful’, and ‘offensive.’ We think you probably get the picture. One man told us that this sort of thing shouldn’t even be talked about. “Why do women have to tell everyone when they have been cheated on?” It is the same old script. “I can cheat on you but don’t tell anyone.” No! It doesn’t work like that. You need to talk and find support. If men find it distasteful or offensive that you are choosing to not feel alone or unsupported, then the message to them is simple. Stop cheating.
We tell unfaithful women the same message as we tell men. You ‘chose’ to have an affair, it is not something you were ‘made’ to do. In fact, sometimes men who have been cheated on, may find it harder to deal with the issue, than women. Many of the men we spoke to told us that it was their ego, plus the fact that they don’t like to be left on their own, that made it difficult to accept rejection, alongside their desire to save face. Some went as far as saying they told their mates, “I was going to dump her anyway.” We hope any man reading The MANScript will learn something from it as well. Ironically, my husband did when he read the first draft of the book. He told me that he could see himself in every script and that was when he realized the writing was on the wall for the affair he was having. The MANScript made him wake up to what he was losing and what a fool he had been. However, it was only when we finally went to court, making the situation real, that the full impact of his affair hit him.
The men who were having an affair seemed to be following a script. Not only were they saying similar things, but their behavior was also very predictable. The same lies were being said to their partners and the same excuses were being used in an attempt to cover up their deceit and infidelity. My husband was also following the same script and that is how I caught him out. The scripts appear to follow a pattern. There are scripts men follow before they are caught. There are scripts they adopt for themselves (his Own Script). There is the script for their partner; the script they spin to the Other-Woman; and the scripts they tell your friends, their family and work colleagues. His Own Script • No one will find out. • I won’t get caught. • She will be grateful, because I won’t be asking her for sex. • What she doesn’t know can’t hurt her. • It’s just a physical thing. • I deserve the thrill of an affair because my life is otherwise miserable. His Other-Woman Script What he tells the Other-Woman • She doesn’t understand me. • We live separate lives. • We haven’t had sex for a long time. • I don’t love her anymore. • There is no romantic connection between us anymore. • We are more like brother and sister. • We are only together for the children. • You are the most gorgeous woman I have ever known. • I love you. • I am going to leave her for you. • She has betrayed me.
His Other People Script • It is not what it seems. • She has got it all wrong. • My life has been very difficult for a long time. • We live totally separate lives. • She has betrayed me; had an affair, is an alcoholic; or spent all my money. • She told me our relationship/marriage was finished, so that is why I continued the affair. • People are stirring up trouble and saying things that aren’t true.
We can help men understand their behavior and why they use typical scripts they tell themselves as well as their wives, families friends colleagues and other women
First we must understand The tell-tale signs
When he has been ‘found out’ It’s your fault (of course!)
We could write an entire book about the excuses men tell and the blame they fire at us women! Men who cheat are masters of rewriting history to suit themselves. But before we tell you what the most common excuses are, here is a selection of jaw dropping, real-life quotations from men we spoke to during the research for this book.
Here is a story that shows for many people the desire to be creative and love a person as well as to find a great love in life beyond boredom or routine leads people to have an affair. It often is not merely about sex but something deep within the soul that yearns for love and when we understand how deep this desire to love is we might not take it so personally but see it as a soul remembrance that finds difficulty dealing with the physical world. Mandy, a fifty-seven-year-old counsellor with three grown-up children from Ireland said, “I found out that my husband of thirty years had been writing long love poems every day for the woman he was having an affair with. Every morning she woke up to a poem he had sent by email. I was so shocked when I found them as never in all the time I had known him, had he ever written anything romantic for me, yet alone a poem. I really didn’t know him at all.” Even if you decide to stay, you will still grieve. You cannot escape the process of grief; you have to surrender to it and accept it.
Sheryl says It is much like remembering to accept your life plan and soul destiny. Sheryl believes that nothing is random and the people and experiences we are meant to have are included in our life journey and if we try to look at everything, not as good or bad, just experiences without judgement, we are truly able to accept whatever happens and find peace beyond the moment of whatever negative emotion we have allowed ourselves to feel. Not easy perhaps to accomplish, but if you can you truly evolve and know yourself as loving souls beyond the physical challenges of hardship.
When a man has an affair with a younger woman is it often a mid-life crisis or is this just an excuse? It might just be an excuse or his own fear of growing older himself but it probably has little to do with the age of woman. A younger woman might not have much life experience and be in awe of the accomplishments of a more mature man like his money and power or have a fixation on their own fathers.
Typical male excuses
Standing by Julia’s side, Jacqueline realized that although her own memories of the cheating she had experienced were still able to take her by surprise (she would be lying if she said she didn’t shed some tears), She realized how that experience made her a stronger person. She made a pact with herself that she never again would allow anyone to walk all over me and take her for a fool. As much as it was devastating and hurtful at the time, it is probably one of the most important experiences she ever had in life. It helped her become the person she is today. She realized a long time ago that there comes a point when you have to focus on yourself and let go of the painful memories around you. Bitterness can be so consuming it can even show in your face. Remember, you attract more bees with nectar than you do with vinegar, so no matter how hard it is, try to set yourself free from the burden of the bitterness. In both my professional career and personal life, I have supported so many women who believed at the time of finding out about their partner’s affair that they would never survive. They never thought that eventually they would thrive. Those who have been able to let go and focus on themselves have certainly thrived. You never recover from betrayal by travelling in a straight line, so you have to accept there will be bad days as well as good, but always look forward.
Julia wants readers to take away with them after reading The MANscript that you are not to blame yourself for the betrayal and she writes, “Of course, he will do everything he can to create self-doubt. Do not allow your instinct to be challenged, otherwise you are on the road to not trusting yourself, something that can come so easily with betrayal. Often it can be the tone of his voice or subtle changes in the person you thought you knew so well. Something starts to niggle you. It can be very basic, like finding a receipt for flowers or jewellery you never received, or an increase in sudden or frequent late-night texts. They are the obvious signs, but some men are better than others at deceit. Despite this, even the most deceptive men make a mistake in the end; take your time and be patient. Once you have suspicions and then evidence that he is unaware of, you are in control of the situation. To be a good liar you have to have a good memory and sooner or later he will slip up and you will get your proof. How many times have you heard someone say, “I wish I had listened to my gut instinct. I just had a feeling something wasn’t right?” Don’t go making any life-changing decisions based on gut instinct alone, instead use it as a reason to dig deeper and find concrete evidence of him MANScripting you.
We thank Julia Keys author of The MANscript for helping both men and women understand the reasons and implications that an affair has on the personal power, emotional well- being of the people involved and the changes that must result from a loss of trust and a deep betrayal. In order to understand how it happens and how many similarities there are in all affairs even though the people are so different, many of the circumstances are not, read this book and find ways to thrive and love after such a hurtful experience.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have discussed how to understand the factors leading up to an affair and the often legal consequences of that event as well as to find essential information to deal with your emotions, understand the various MANscripts that are used to explore how and why it all happened, and to learn to let go of the anger sadness and loss so one can move on to a new chapter in self-fulfillment and find a way to trust oneself and the possibilities for love in the future. Nothing we learn just happens randomly…there are fears and traumas within one’s psyche and infidelity like any other choice comes from within a story that never resolved itself from a past wound or betrayal that we may have witnessed as a child. Some even think that if there was infidelity in family members, there might be a genetic predisposition to that happening, or if society or friends and family deem it desirable to participate in having affairs then it might be acceptable. There are many unresolved emotions and complications in relationships that might make people doubt themselves or others and often modern day society has encouraged immediate gratification and exploration of all possibilities for physical comfort and delight. Love is a complicated emotion and often when people do make a poor choice they are not thinking of long term complications.
Julia and Jacqui wrote, If you start questioning him he may become angry, accusing you of not trusting him. When faced with this, we often doubt our own instincts and begin to question ourselves. Remember, attacking you is the best line of his defense. The most important thing is to keep yourself safe. By this, we mean if you feel at all scared or threatened by your partner’s behavior, you must remove yourself from the situation immediately and call someone to support you. His anger is with himself and there are instances when women have been attacked by men to deflect from their own guilt. In the United States, over half of the killings of American women are related to intimate partner violence, with the vast majority of the victims dying at the hands of a current or former romantic partner, according to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2017. Some men go to the other extreme and are so consumed with guilt they start buying you flowers and gifts—trying almost too hard. Being overly nice to throw you off the scent is another tell-tale sign, although it is not as common as anger.”
Of course, women are involved in affairs as well and their men will get hurt too, and might show tell-tale signs as well, but whoever has gotten themselves into this position it is clear that it will have to be addressed and often therapy and support groups are required and many times the marriage will end. These are just the facts.
We would have you know that even after the drama and calamity, the sadness and anger, and the possible break up of the marriage, most people go on to understand why it happened and move past blame and anger to find a deeper self-love, and that allows for necessary acceptance and change without shame regret and continued bitterness which can limit the ability of the soul to heal.

The post Dealing with Emotions During and After an Affair appeared first on WebTalkRadio.net.
Welcome to Healing From Within. I am your host Sheryl Glick Author of the final book in my trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which shares stories and messages from Spirit showing us our challenges are not merely economic political or societal but a deep dissociation from our true being or inner soul wisdom. I am delighted today to welcome Dr. Christine R. Page, author of “The Heart of the Great Mother” offering sacred spiritual tools to connect to the love, passion and creative powers of the Great Mother for spiritual transformation.
Hello Dr. Page and thank you for joining us on “Healing from Within” to share how the Great Mother Hears our heart’s yearning to escape our old ways of suffering and struggle to find peace, fulfillment and joy.
As listeners of “Healing From Within” have come to expect over the years, my guests and I share intimate stories and insights into the human and divine nature of man or the duality of our physical ego related world and that of the heart or soul of our energetic eternal life force. In learning more about the metaphysical aspects of life we learn to move beyond fear and restriction to find fluidity, creativity and our inner spiritual gifts.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Christine R. Page M.D. who has been a pioneer in the fields of spiritual wisdom and holistic health care for over 40 years and who offers individual soul readings, astrology workshops and retreats for women empowering them to embody the gifts of the Great Mother is the author of 8 books including the Healing Power of the Sacred Woman. Today we will discuss how since 2012 which marked the birth of a new cycle of time that will last for 26,000 years the Great Mother’s eternal source of energy will be calling on the feminine within us all to create a world worthy of the next seven generations and begin an era of peace abundance and spiritual evolution and to share how the Great Mother hears our heart’s yearning to escape our old ways of suffering and struggle to find peace fulfillment and joy. We will find that we must release our hold on the destructive patterns and embrace the divine feminine qualities of intuition, creativity and rhythmic renewal.
At the beginning of the book Dr. Page describes the birth of a new world in 2012: a new start for everyone. Why, years from this event are we still not fully embracing the opportunities for change? Christine shares with us the thought that All mystics let us know that despite appearances, life is impermanent: here today, gone tomorrow. All dreams and ideas arise from a primal source often described as the Great Mother or ocean of possibilities. It is here that all our creations will eventually return to enhance her collective consciousness. So what image of the future do we wish to create?
Dr. Page writes “ Life has sadly become a struggle for so many people due to external circumstances. The fire of their free will has almost been extinguished by a belief that their life is controlled and fated by a higher authority or power and there is no escape. Yet the deep eternal fire of their soul cannot be extinguished. The intuitive heart is today sending our radiant pulses of light and love to help us remember that unlimited possibilities—associated with love, joy and pleasure—are still readily available to us now! This is not fantasy or wishful thinking: can you not feel the cells of the body starting to shimmer and feel excited once more. A deeply buried memory is starting to awaken which if nurtured with the help of the emotions will create a fruitful future worthy of your soul’s desires…..The Earth and its inhabitants are presently engaged in a powerful time of transformation when the old paradigm is giving way to the new. In other words we’re dissolving to evolve. We are lucky to be alive at this time. For ever since the birth of new twenty-six thousand year cycle on December 21, 2012 everybody is being given the opportunity to decide how future generations live for centuries but first we need to release our attachment to the old pattern until we are filled with inspiration and through breathing realize the Great Mother’s realm of creative potential.
For here between the worlds, time collapses, space expands into infinity and the veils between the dimensions drop revealing a single feature: NOW Our challenge is to be able to release our obsessively emotional hold on the past and future and fully appreciate the rich choice being offered now.
It seems over time we have forgotten the illusory nature of reality—a collection of holographic images created by our own subconscious thoughts and emotions causing us to believe the structure of our world is solid and cannot be changed. Yet in essence, these loose collections of vibrating energies are capable of transforming themselves as quickly as it takes for us to change our mind!
During the decades to come there will be a great need for all who consciously hear the call to encourage others to remember their inherent destiny. Together we can birth a world that encompasses the principles of “cooperation and oneness” through the acceptance of diversity ensuring right relationships with all life forms who share this planet. Despite the propaganda, large numbers of ordinary people are awakening to the fact that many of the dogmas that have been taught for centuries are based on flawed reasoning. Millions of people are beginning to listen to their own inherent guidance or intuition knowing they are connecting to the pulse of the Great Mother’s heart and to remember their soul purpose to bring heaven to earth and create a new world.
We know this is a time for the empowerment of women across the world, but why is the feminine so important during this transitional period between the old and new worlds? Dr. Page reminds us over time and despite the masculine tendency to solidify wisdom into dogma, the goddess managed to keep her timeless qualities of truth and wisdom alive through the arts, body centered wisdom and intuition. Yet her hold was tenuous and such inner knowing was often viewed as feminine fancy, implying that because it does not come from reasoned thinking, it must be delusional, emotional or a little crazy.
Sheryl says that for the first half of her life she functioned exactly according to an ego based patriarchal reality until many metaphysical events started to happen frequently for her increasing her awareness of the unseen world of energy and intuition, and she developed mediumship skills and energy healing practice allowing her to integrate all aspects of the physical and spiritual realms of life.
Dr. Page writes in some depth about the importance of embracing all three faces of the Triple Goddess—Virgin Exploring the mythology of the Triple Goddess, Dr. Page explains how the three faces of the Great Mother help us on our spiritual journey of transformation. As a virgin she inspires us to manifest our dreams. As a mother she teaches us to celebrate and nurture all living things, especially ourselves. As a crone, she shows us that creativity changes like the seasons, encouraging us not to be possessed by our creations but to embrace mystery and impermanence. Finally the Great Mother emboldens us to build our magician’s wand and the rod of light along the spine which enables us to be masters of creativity, bringing forth transformation for ourselves and generations of children still to come as we embark into a new era of expanded consciousness and love.
The Great Mother hears our heart’s yearning to escape our old ways of suffering and struggle to find peace, fulfillment and joy. She is reaching out to us across the dimensions offering spiritual initiation and the chance to know ourselves fully right now. Drawing on alchemy and mythology Dr. Page details the journey of the soul through the twelve signs of the zodiac until our inner light shines. She also explores how to connect with and use sacred spiritual tools to open our hearts and merge with the Great Mother’s love and creative powers.
Alchemy is the ultimate process of transformation turning base consciousness into the gold of illumination, the stages outlined in the Emerald Tablet. There are simple steps we can start to take to experience such transformation in our own lives. In other words, spirit and matter are just different faces of the Divine. Each gives birth continually to the other at the expense of its own existence. The ability to shift frequencies between the vibration of spirit and the vibration of matter is possible because of the existence of a transformer found, not only within every human being, but also within the center of our sun and of our galaxy. This unique piece of equipment is the heart. Without it our very purpose as creative beings would grind to a halt as we’re forced either to live a lie of continual unrealized potential or to stagnate, paralyzed by the weight of our own creations. In more modern terms this miraculous heart would be called a stargate, transporting us naturally between the many different dimensions. Anybody who has ever been in love knows of the heart.
Alchemy is the ultimate process of transformation turning base consciousness into the gold of illumination. Note the mention of the Ka in which Tom Kenyon in The Magdalen Manuscript describes the alchemical teachings of the Egyptians in their quest for immortality. They understood that each of us has 3 bodies: the Khat or physical body, the Ka or light body, and the Ba or higher self. Through deep inner work and alchemical practices, they aspired to activate each of the body’s chakras thereby sending serpentine energy up a central connecting pathway known as the Djed which is positioned along the spine. The process known as the raising of the Djed is clearly synonymous with the raising of the dead, or the transformation of base consciousness into the golden consciousness of enlightenment. In order to reach immortality, it was taught that there must be an alignment between the energy within the Djed and the Ba or higher spirit self.
We cannot continue our exploration of immortality and our union with the Heart of the Great Mother without acknowledging the science of the mystics alchemy and its treatise the Emerald Tablet. Alchemy can be a practical science where base metals are turned into gold or a profound spiritual journey where, through careful stages of initiation, we achieve the golden light of illumination, we become immortal.
Christine and Sheryl discuss The Count of St. Gemaine a master alchemist around 1560 said that alchemy when properly understood deals with the conscious power of controlling mutations and transmutations within matter and energy and even within life itself . It is the science of the mystic and the forte of the self-realized man who, having sought, has found himself to be one with God and is willing to play his part. He taught the use of the purple flame or energy to assist in energy healing of the chakra system
Dr. Page describes a journey towards immortality as one that spirals through the 12 astrological signs and explains how such a hero’s journey takes place in the ever- present love of the Great Mother. This cycle between spirit and matter or heaven and earth is also known as the hero myth in which the ego passes through several stages of evolution (inspiration) and dissolution (expiration) taking on different roles as it dives in and out of the Great Mother’s ocean of possibilities. The intimate balance between the masculine focus to create and the feminine the force to create is reflected in the interplay of energies between the various signs of the zodiac.
Listening to the different intuitive calls of the Virgin, Mother and Crone is so important in the journey. As we continue to explore ancient Creation myths, we learn the Great Mother gave birth to herself creating the Triple Goddess consisting of the 3 archetypal faces of the feminine Virgin, Mother and Crone. Each face is essential for the complete creative process to transpire. The Virgin represents creative inspiration, the Mother creative nurturing and the Crone creative transformation. All three of them act exclusively through their unique style of compassion and intuition, ever expanding our awareness of ourselves toward our perfect eternal state.
Contrary to popular belief the word virgin does not reflect a sexually inexperienced girl but instead means “to be complete unto oneself without the need for another to make one whole.” Often depicted wearing white the Virgin radiates a state of energetic perfection wherein she is comfortable with herself and has nothing to hide.
The Virgin can be described as
Our Spiritual blueprint awaiting manifestation
Our unrealized or unmanifested self
Our imagination containing all the seeds of possibility
Energetic perfection
Our holographic self in which everything is present. If we return to the original meaning of the word virgin imagine being in a relationship where you were complete unto yourself without the need for another to make you whole. You would still enjoy the creative change that comes from intimacy but without the fear of rejection, the stickiness of codependency, or the burden of unrealistic expectations that are commonly placed on another person in the mistaken belief that this will make you whole. Imagine the joy of just being in the presence of another soul who embraces his or her implicit wholeness and allows us to do the same.
Dr. Page writes “Within the realm of creativity we cannot pick and choose what we decide to own. Everything that causes us to have an emotional reaction reflects a part of our spiritual blueprint. This is based on the understanding that our purpose on Earth is to fully manifest the unique aspect of the Great Mother that we carry in order for her to know herself through us—in other words to express heaven on earth. Hence as we move through the world, we project our energetic blueprint or aura into the environment. This attracts people and situations into our lives that ensure the blueprint is brought into manifestation. This is the true meaning of the law of attraction, which is not derived from mentally or emotionally based desire but from the undeniable intention of the soul, causing us to receive what we need, not what we want.”
Through this journey we are strengthening our Magician’s wand or so we can use it to create a new reality within this new world. It is important to understand the duality that is at work in our lives at all times and Dr. Page wrote, “In a world of duality both aspects have equal importance and each impact everything we do. The masculine face provides our world with structure and stability mainly through identity, thoughts, laws, and beliefs. The feminine face provides movement and opportunity largely through creativity, inspiration and intuition. Problems arise when one aspect is given preference over the other, causing the one that is suppressed to rise up in order to reestablish its rightful position. When the world becomes too structured and lacks spontaneity and growth, the feminine face offers turmoil shaking things up and in a similar way when mayhem or confusion is rampant events occur that force us to make decisions or set priorities thereby bringing masculine order out of the chaos. A continual flow of energy between the masculine and feminine principles is the force that creates healthy rewarding relationships where all aspects are respected and honored.”
Dr. Page might like readers of The Heart of the Great Mother to take away with them after reading her book that we can be “Free of Dogma” without ego centered direction and most intuitive. These few words set the scene for a profound experience. Their study is in itself a lifetime’s work.
Simply stated we are told that the process of alchemical transformation can occur only when we learn to:
Be honest with our thoughts, words and actions where nothing is hidden and everything is owned. Master not suppress our emotions and energies Carry a level of self-confidence that has no need to judge others.
Release our need to defend our opinions Live from a place of discernment, detached from the outcome
Think, act and speak from our central core where head and heart are aligned
Be guided by our intuition, driven not by fear but by love
In Sheryl’s new book A New Life Awaits Sheryl addressed the process of change and awareness of our human and divine values and wrote, “ In the past several years, I have noticed through my own personal connections with family, friends, and clients that as we ride through life, much like the joyful merry-go-round ride of our childhood, we experience much joy, terror, or even a combination of both. Reminded of experiences from our earlier life, we approach rapidly changing times with the same simplicity of earlier training, which, although correct, may not be sufficient to deal with the challenges of our adult life. Still these old-fashioned values of our youth are the foundation of our humanity. It is therefore a great sadness to those of us born in a different era to see values such as love of country being dishonored by unhappy youths who burn our flag and denigrate our passion for freedom. To witness anything less than living honorably with these well-relied-on ethics is not an option, as we have discovered the real goal of life is to become or remain righteous citizens. Remember your childhood as I remember mine! The best hopes for happiness come from the best memories and happiness experienced in childhood and a trust in a timeless, universal plan.
We thank Christine Page M.D. author of The Heart of the Great Mother for sharing a way to understand how reaching across dimensions offers a spiritual initiation and the chance to know ourselves more completely right now in the physical realm of life while discovering our shadow selves—the unloved parts of us—so we can eventually know both our spiritual energetic reality and physical form and radiate our full light from the fullness of who we are without the lower vibration energies of shame or guilt or any negative emotion.
In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within it has become apparent that by exploring the mythology of the Triple Goddess or the Great Mother we are helped on our spiritual journey of transformation Drawing on alchemy and mythology we have discovered how to connect with and use sacred spiritual tools to open our hearts and merge with the energy and wisdom of the Great Mother’s love and creative power. We are beginning to call on the feminine within us all to create a world worthy of the next seven generations and begin an era of peace, abundance and spiritual evolution.
As Dr. Christine Page writes, “In the Aquarian age it will no longer be possible to give your power away to another person and then blame them when things go wrong for unlike the Piscean age, everybody will be asked to be self-conscious and self-accountable. Rather than living in hierarchical societies where policies are made at the level of the central or federal government, power will return to the communities who will make decisions that are best for everyone in the area. At the same time, we will see everybody’s contribution as equally important and unique, just as each piece is required to be in place to complete the jigsaw puzzle. There will be no need for leaders and messiahs, for everyone will be their own guru. Such a shift from giving power away to an authority figure to taking full responsibility for our thoughts, words, and actions will not be easy. …..Yet times are changing and despite the inconvenience of having to take responsibility for our creations, we will feel tremendous relief when we no longer have to
Spin plates to keep everyone happy Wear masks to avoid being seen fully or upsetting others
Stay small so others aren’t threatened by us Be the proverbial round peg in the square hole Convince others that tomorrow will suffice when it comes to following our bliss
Dr. Christine Page and Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Teacher would have you remember that the soul power within carries the wisdom of the Great Mother and Universal Source and are your eternal means to create lives of glory, beauty and joy beyond anything your mind or physical life can dictate. The post Escaping our old way of Suffering: Finding the Feminine Within appeared first on WebTalkRadio.net.
Welcome to “Healing From Within” I am your host Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Energy Teacher medium and author of the newest book in a trilogy, A New Life Awaits Spiritual Insights To Support Global Awakening which shares many stories and messages from Spirit showing us that our challenges are not economic political or societal just a spiritual disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom. I am delighted to welcome Sherrie Dillard, author of I’m Still With You who like many of my spiritually developed authors in one way or another has found that “Consciousness survives physical death and we as souls are eternal vessels of pure energy and love.
As listeners of “Healing From Within” over the years have come to expect the world of energy or Universal source is a vast territory of new perceptions and realities and often we become interested in this world beyond physical life by recognizing the duality of life and that we are spiritual beings having a physical life in order to refine and expand our already magnificent soul potential. Life becomes miraculously better when we merge our spiritual awareness to reach higher consciousness and live purposely in the here and now.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Sherrie Dillard who is a professional psychic medium and therapist for over thirty years and has given over 50,000 readings worldwide will share thoughts the afterlife what happens to our loved ones there, intuition, spiritual development, and healing and its importance in the modern day challenges the world is facing right now.
Sherrie shares her experience of dealing with many souls who have crossed over and believes as soon as our loved ones cross over pass out of their physical body and quite often even before they pass they become aware that loved ones are around them waiting and death is not the end even if they have not been of that mindset before. Once on the other side they are able to see and feel the shock and grief that their relatives and friends on the earth plane are experiencing. They desperately want us to know they are still alive and some even when they are passing over stop and you might feel a breeze or touch on your shoulder or feel a shadow pass by you. Sheryl’s cousin told her many years ago even before she had begun her healing and mediumship work and was not aware of an afterlife that at the very time of our Grandmother Sarah’s passing she had felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to see who was there and no one was there. Soon after her mother called telling her that Grandma had just passed.
Sheryl goes on to say that in her new book A New Life Awaits she addresses this question of who waits for departed souls and wrote, “When I interviewed Annie who discussed her communication with her brother who had passed, I had no idea that before long, my sister Rodelle would pass. As a medium, I received thoughtful, creative, validating messages for my clients. I assumed that was the way Spirit intended for me to use the gift of spiritual communication. However, I was told years ago that I could ask to speak to any soul energy, anywhere, alive or in spirit. I never tried to contact my own family members, as I felt that should they need to reach me, they would. Eight months after Rodelle’s passing, I decided to meditate and try to check in to see how she was relating to her new world. Unlike Billy, who reached out to his sister, I reached out to mine in spirit. Usually when I do a reading, I simply write down whatever is presented to me. It seems the information is usually perfectly tailored to what my client needs at the moment. With Rodelle, however, I decided to ask her questions. I asked her who was there to meet her. Immediately I began to feel a pressure, a tightening on my head, as perhaps the drugs she was given before passing confused her. She was frightened. Our dad was calling to her to move forward. Rodelle soon saw the head of the Statue of Liberty immense in size; the face was very close to her face. The beams of light from the crown on the statue’s head enlarged, and many people moved forward to meet her: relatives, friends, and guides. Rodelle seemed to feel free, as the immigrants who had come to our shores looking for a new life must have felt, filled with the hope that they would be welcomed. Tears started to fill my eyes as I realized how joyful she was to find this new world and see so many souls she loved there to greet her.
Sherrie tells us about the Life Review that every soul experiences. Soon after passing over our loved ones experience the soul review. For some this process seems to occur spontaneously and quickly. Others experience the soul review as a series of insights, awareness and heart-opening expansion. However, this activity can’t be measured in earth time as the other side is always operating in the “now” outside of time. During the soul review our loved ones become aware of the soul contracts they shared with others in their life and have the opportunity to better understand why things happened the way they did. The soul review is not a judgment, a fault finding, or a way to incur shame and blame for misguided mistakes while in the physical world. Instead it is an opportunity to become and be who they truly are. As our loved ones go through the soul review and awaken to their true self, they are able to positively influence and guide us right here on earth.
Sheryl says they are still very active in our lives and learning with us as we continue to gather experiences and new understandings.
Sherrie tells us much of the soul review. Often, we sense and feel the presence of a higher being. There may actually be many present, but, not wanting us to be overwhelmed, they remain quiet not to distract the soul from this important process. These beings assist and help to balance the influx of emotions we experience by sending us waves of love and forgiveness. During the soul review it is the beauty of our soul, along with wise and loving beings that guide us. Here on earth we tend to be more aware of our ego’s needs than the desires of our spirit. On the other side, we ascend into the wisdom of our soul and perceive our earth life through this enlightened lens. We have new insights and understand the deeper meaning and purpose of what we’ve experienced.
Sherrie shares that the soul review begins with what many have described as the appearance and sensation of orbs of energy that bubble up from within. In these orbs of energy, we view and experience significant events from our earth life. As memories surface they are accompanied by insights and new awareness into how our choices and decisions impacted our soul path. All that we do think, feel and experience in the physical life comes from the gift of free will and creative freedom. Most of the emotions and difficulties we experience in a physical world are not relevant in spirit life. There is no loneliness, selfishness, anger, frustration and anxiety on the other side. We are able to embrace our divine individuality and experience the joy that has always been within.
We feel how our choices, words and actions affected others even those who may not have been directly impacted at the time. Not only do we feel how our actions affect others, we become the other and experience their reactions, emotions and feelings as if they are our own. We feel the longing for love and forgiveness and the misunderstandings and contempt that we may have harbored about others and ourselves. During the soul review we learn that when we accepted our physical life circumstances and did our best to respond to whatever was asked of us in the most conscious and loving way we could, we succeeded. We recognize that when we listened to and acted on the dictates of our soul goodness, the universe responded by bringing us more positive opportunities.
Sherrie goes on to tell us what she believes it is like on the other side and what our loved ones may be experiencing. Sherrie writes, “Although, we may hesitate to accept that those in the spirit realm can reach out and be with us, our loved ones on the other side are experiencing something quite different. For those in the spirit realm, communicating with loved ones still in the physical world is more straightforward and uncomplicated. Even if they had no interest in intuition while here in the physical world, this is the natural way they communicate now.
Sheryl says that years ago when she was first exploring how psychic and spiritual communication worked a medium told her that her grandfather who had come to her in a dream in 1993 telling her to write something for her father and learning that her father passed the next day opened up her search for the truth of spirit communication and later on another medium told Sheryl that her grandfather had not been interested in these thoughts when alive but, now was with Sheryl at all the events she went to as she was discovering so much about eternal life and learning to use her own intuitive healing and mediumship talents and he was learning along side of her.
Sherrie also says that those on the other side continue to support and love those they left behind. They have ascended into a higher state of love and wisdom and perceive us through this enlightened awareness. Sheryl’s own dad in spirit told her many of the thoughts she had while walking on the boardwalk were from him and he supported her writing her books to share the truth of eternal life.
As our loved ones leave the physical body, they become aware that death is not the end. Sheryl remembers telling her sister Rodelle when she was close to the end of this life that she was in for a very special new experience and would find a life beyond this physical place. She wasn’t quite sure of that possibility but Sheryl was right and they had decided if she found herself to be alive she would get a message to her On Sheryl’s last visit with Rodelle at her home, Sheryl asked her to tell her the message she would send if indeed either she or Sheryl found ourselves beyond life to be still alive. We decided that every time I saw a fluffy, sweet-faced, white Bichon dog like her dog, Oliver, she would be saying hello to me. Soon after her passing, I was watching television and a commercial came on. There was a small white dog like Oliver, with his leg wrapped in a blue bandage, unable to move quickly, stopped to see the other dogs move so freely and fast. Sadly, the small dog walked up to his owner, a dark haired, sensitive-looking, otherworldly young man, and looked into his eyes, and immediately the man seemed inspired. He opened his cell phone to order a dog carrier from Amazon so his dog could be carried close to his heart and loved till he healed. The words sung at the end of the commercial were, “I was born among the stars.” That was, I think, a great message from my very clever sister letting me know she and all our loved one’s dance in eternal life.
Sherrie writes, “At physical death we wake to our true source and become aware of the divine beauty we are all inherently a part of. Although we don’t necessarily hear trumpets and see the pearly gates of heaven, an all- encompassing love and peace surrounds us. After passing over most are greeted by their loved ones already on the other side and by angelic beings. Our loved ones often describe waking up in a sublime and peaceful garden where they can rest and adjust to this new celestial reality.”
A life review may affect loved ones here on earth. Sherri tells us that as your loved one on the other side evolves and transforms, so can you. There is a lot we can learn from the soul review about how to live a more joy filled peaceful life here in the physical world. It is through the soul review process that occurs soon after passing that emotional burdens and misunderstandings are acknowledged and released. As earthly perceptions are let go, insight and purpose and gifts that the physical life provided comes to light. We live in the pureness of our soul and enter into the full experience of divine freedom and love.
Sherrie tells us that in cases of severe trauma or sudden death of a loved one we are often haunted by images of our loved one’s last moments on earth and imagine they may have suffered pain or fear and this makes the grief process and healing much harder. However, many souls share the way they left their body even during a bad car accident. Sherrie tells us of Philip whose wife died in a terrible car crash and who lets you know she didn’t suffer and as she lifted out of her body felt the sensation of warmth and light. Your wife wants you to know that she wasn’t alone. It looks like an angel, a light being, was there and also a small woman with white hair, possibly a grandmother. She says they protected her. Months after this session with Sherrie, Philip has a spiritual visit in a dream from his wife who told him she was always close to him, but he had to get on with his life here.
Once the spirit leaves the body some describe watching the events unfold from a distance. In the company of loved ones and angels who have previously passed over they feel no fear, only love. Several spirits have told Sherrie they were not aware of the cause or manner of how they passed over. This occurs more often in unexpected and sudden deaths. Children go directly into a loving environment with the angels and loved ones on the other side and are shielded from the circumstances of how they passed over. Talking with others about life after death can open a door for new understanding and acceptance. You may share your beliefs gently but it is wise to never overwhelm another with your beliefs and views. Sometimes it is necessary to simply listen and pray for their peaceful transition and love them.
There is a gift of spirituality within grief. When Sherri asked her spirit guides how suffering grief or illness might be an opportunity to examine one’s life that could help make evolutionary soul progress while still in the body and help resolve behavior which hurt others, we hear the story of a mother who was angry and self-centered and physically and emotionally abusive to her children. A few weeks before she passed she called crying to apologize and ask for forgiveness. Sherrie’s spirit guides told her that illness can be a way to release negativity. Our suffering can be an active type of karma that allows us to discharge the negative energy we have accumulated and transform it before we pass over. In this way we move quickly into a spiritually higher vibration of love and joy after passing. For some, the depth of awareness and transformation can be so profound it leads to physical healing and recovery. We don’t become sick because we are bad or are paying for our negativity or something we have done. Transforming our emotional pain and developing compassion and forgiveness, allows positive energy and love to flow through us which may result in spontaneous physical emotional and spiritual healing.
Sherrie begins the book by describing that she was teaching a class when she felt her attention pulled away and felt pulled into the spiritual realm. It wasn’t a simple nudge but a” pay attention” to me kind of spiritual intrusion. On the way home the spirit presence that Sherrie felt during the class came closer and felt stronger. During the long drive home, Sherrie talked with the spirit and asked what happened and how was his passing? As this presence drew closer, Sherrie felt a tugging in my heart and found herself spontaneously expressing her love for him. Strange as it sounds, Sherrie knew that she was talking to her ex-husband. Even though she knew his spirit was with her, she wasn’t ready to acknowledge that he had passed over. As far as she knew he was healthy and alive in the physical world.
Sheryl says that over twenty years ago when she was at a spiritual workshop like the one you were teaching the day your ex-husband visited, a medium standing on the podium told Sheryl there was a handsome tall man pulling on cowboy boots and looking directly at me. She asked if It meant anything to me and not wanting to give the medium any information Sheryl just said It might mean something, She went on to say the man had spent time traveling from his home to the East Coast and now had a mustache but he didn’t when Sheryl knew him. He had passed from a lung related disorder and since Ira was a heavy smoker I was sad to hear that. He said Life had been good but a little too short and then he said. He should have married me. Sheryl knew it was her first boyfriend Ira who had moved out west to have a ranch. She was sorry to hear he had passed, but still felt close to him, maybe closer than he had been all these years she had not seen him. He also said to Sheryl she didn’t need a medium to talk to him. The other day Sheryl was thinking about Ira and at her beauty salon checking out there was a man standing next to her wearing a Minnesota t-shirt and Sheryl asked him if he lived there. He said he was moving there and Sheryl told him she thought her first boyfriend who was a cowboy had moved there. He walked away and in a minute returned, handing Sheryl a CD. There he was on the cover- the lead singer in a band called “the Wandering Cowboy” and when Sheryl listened to the music later in her office she was moved by the beauty and love in the music. This happened the day before her birthday, September 16th. Perhaps a present from Ira in Spirit.
Sherrie might like readers to remember that our relatives as soon as they pass out of their physical body become aware that death is not the end and often want to let us know that they are still alive and eager to communicate with us in various ways. They want us to know that the transition or passing over is painless and not at all as scary as what it may seem to be. The most frightening part of death it seems is our human perception or that the process of death involves fear, pain, anguish and suffering. However, appearances can be deceiving. At physical death we wake up to our true essence and become aware of the divine beauty that we are all inherently a part of. After passing over, most are greeted by their loved ones already on the other side and also often by angelic beings.
We thank you Sherrie Dillard, author of I’m Still With You for your sensitive and truthful approach to communicating and helping clients and readers heal and evolve with their loved ones on the other side.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Sherrie Dillard has tried to share with listeners a clearer view of what the process of transitioning and moving into the afterlife is like and how our loved ones try to communicate and share their continued presence in our lives only from a different dimension of life and energy. Perhaps we can realize the wonderment of the other side and the true meaning of eternal life in both physical and energetic form. Perhaps, we can also begin to understand how to merge our soul and ego minded capacity to live a more balanced harmonious physical life experience while dealing with the challenges of our daily life.
Perceptions of the true nature of life when accurate and removed from fear eliminate most suffering, and allow for love and compassion to flourish. Sherrie writes that after many years of communicating with souls who have passed over, she still is surprised and somewhat mystified by what those on the other side tell her about the afterlife. Just as we have free will in the physical world, we have the opportunity to create our experiences and steer our evolution and growth to the spirit realm as well. After the soul review many stay close to family members on the other side. They may recreate much of how they lived in the physical world…In addition to socializing and having fun, they mend unhealed past issues and discover new aspects of one another’s individuality that they may not have been aware of in the physical life. Even relationships in the physical world that may have been short-lived and seemed less significant like those we have with a neighbor or co-worker are often revisited…..There is no ego on the other side so our desire to be with others is based on authenticity and shared consciousness.”
Sherrie and I would hope you start this very moment to pay attention to the quiet intuitive thoughts and whispers of loved ones both here in your physical life and in spirit who are not there randomly but purposefully to awaken in you the memory of your powerful and divine soul who yearns to breathe love and life into their words and actions and make themselves and the world healthier and more loving.

The post Our Souls Evolution Before and After Physical Death appeared first on WebTalkRadio.net.
Welcome to “Healing From Within” with your host Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Energy Teacher Medium and author of the newest book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which shares stories and messages from Spirit that show us our challenges are not merely economic political or societal but a disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom. Sheryl is delighted to welcome the author James Purpura of Perception Seeing is NOT Believing.
As listeners of Healing from Within are well aware Sheryl and her guests and I share intimate and insightful experiences often of mystical or metaphysical content which help us recognized that we are more than our physical being and that our inner intuitive soul nature when utilized in combination with our ego based mind reality offer us unlimited potential for success in both the physical and energetic realms of experience.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” James Purpura who has experienced some of the most extreme moments life can offer and was an inmate struggling with life in solitary confinement placed there as a result of his actions while homeless and addicted to drugs will share how he developed a personal philosophy and once released from jail found his wife, created an amazing family and prosperous life and became inspired to share his knowledge with the world. His wife Steph had a challenging life also and is a survivor of sexual abuse and an attempted suicide and went on to co-own a large software company and is now co-founder of Powerful U along with James. We will discover how the human spirit deals with trauma and loss and overcomes all to find happiness.
When James is asked to think back to their childhood and remember a person, place or event that may have signaled to them or others the interests and lifestyle he might embrace tells us he really had a happy childhood and played a lot with his older brother. His mother told him he was one of those people who lit up a room when he walked in who got super excited about everything. When he got to school it became apparent he had some pretty severe learning disabilities and struggled with reading and was put in a special education class. The first day he went to that class the teacher called him up in front of the room and said, “Jimmy I don’t know if you know this or not but only stupid and retarded kids go to special ed.” James was shocked. It is sad to know there are teachers so insensitive and harmful, and probably doing that to demoralize the children and knock the wind out of their sails. James goes on to tell us that every day in that kindergarten class, this teacher called him up in front of the class to tell him he was stupid and instinctively he knew he couldn’t show any emotion or things would go even worse. It was at that point that James detached from his emotions. This teacher had given the kids by her actions permission to bully me. James’ parents had divorced when he was about three years old and his Dad’s involvement in his life was very sporadic, His mom was bipolar and really incapable of helping James very much.
Sheryl says that as a teacher in the NYC elementary schools she saw teachers who because they had tenure or a lifetime right to remain as teachers even incompetent teachers were not fired. Just like problems in the police or civil service, workers tenure is not such a good thing for maintaining a healthy group of functional people. Just like corruption in government agencies, political factions cover up so much negativity and abuse. It truly needs to be corrected.
James Purpura’s book and film are the story of transformation and describes how he and his wife Steph both came from professional and personal bankruptcy to a life of success and service to others. Their book is designed to create a fundamental internal shift that redefines how readers think about their experiences and reshape how they experience life. If you begin to know what gives your life meaning, you will discover there are two things that dictate your life experience. They are perceptions and emotions. Everything you are, everything you see, everything you experience is determined by perception. And it is your emotions that give your life the only meaning it has. My wife and I made a pact with each other to make sense of our past, rebuild our lives, and use the Law of Attraction to bring the best into our lives. We learned “Thoughts are things.” We wanted to know how and why thoughts become things, Our process began by asking the question. What is self-esteem? Our thought was it is the opinion we have of ourselves. We hated ourselves so we had to start telling ourselves that we loved ourselves. After a while it seemed less of a lie. It took years to put enough positive layers on top of the negative for it to start to show up in our lives. But, once it started to show up it kept growing and like a miracle it was mind boggling. At that point we realized it was perception. We began to understand why we were successful and how most people weren’t living up to their potential.
We also discovered that some people internalize their thoughts and feelings and emotions while others externalize theirs. James externalized his emotions and blamed everything on the outside world. He literally felt like a victim of circumstance. Steph internalized all her emotions and blamed everything that went wrong in her life on herself.
Sheryl says: “As spiritual beings having a physical life, I have learned that life is not random and most of the events in our life are designed by our soul awareness to give us experiences that help us refine our emotions and feelings so we may grow more compassionate and loving. It is really a journey of the soul in a physical world that supplies many challenges. I have learned to value my external and internal aspects and not to judge or resort to lower emotions of anger, jealousy, greed but to accept and surrender to whatever happens and find value in it all even in what some would consider a bad situation. There is no good or bad right or wrong only experience.
We might not see ourselves as others see us. Perhaps James says its because we don’t understand the journey from Neverland to the Matrix
James says we all share the same journey. Life starts out for all of us in our own version of Neverland, our younger days filled with wonder and awe. When we suffer our first major rejection that bubble bursts and we fall into the Matrix, a world that feels forced upon us.
James and Steph have included a description of the different stages describing this journey Neverland Life perceived as a child from the vantage point of your unique and authentic self: an inner world of fantasy imagination, creativity and the feeling that anything is possible.
The Fall when we experience major rejection and the bubble of childhood innocence bursts and with it goes the safety of childhood: you realize that things aren’t as you thought they were or should be.
The Matrix—where you land after the Fall. This new world feels like it has been forced on you: you must adapt to cold harsh realities.
The Climb You begin the escape from the self-limiting confines of the Matrix, attempting to consciously create life circumstances of your own choosing.
We can know how others truly perceive us. Actually, It’s all about you and how you perceive yourself that affects how others perceive you. You might feel alone even in a room full of people. You might still be considering or reviewing all the mistakes you made throughout your life and often you don’t know whose fault it is if you are having a difficult time of theirs or your own. It’s not that they don’t want to know you or help you but often they have their own issues to deal with, YOU might choose to believe that nobody understands you or your life or how hard your journey has been. In some ways that is true because no one has lived your life or fought your battles. But I think people might want you to know they understand you and you are not alone and there is nothing wrong with you and nothing missing from within your heart and soul. You are not crazy to feel the way you do. Everyone has problems and fears but there is hope and life does not have to be a fight or a struggle. You have everything you need to be successful and to be happy and fulfilled and nothing that happens to you is your fault. Life has a plan and events happen to help you grow stronger in the acceptance of that plan. Whatever decision you make and how ever it goes is exactly the experience at the time that can ultimately benefit your soul purpose and growth. No one is better than you nor are you better than anyone else. We all have just had different life experiences, which gives us a different pool of information to access when we have to make decisions. When you have good information, you make better decisions.
It seems some of us seem to be inherently negative and others eternally optimistic. Well, some people may have an Identity Crisis which can be viewed as a major rejection. The world seems to shout, “You are not enough,” in your face and brand your spirit with the imprint of trauma and separation. It is at this point that you have an Identity Crisis and life spins in a different direction. It’s called survival mode. In those moments you begin to perceive and believe that life is not the playground you once believed it to be. And you need to fight to survive. It is also when you realize that you are separate and alone.
The second thing a rejection does is cause you to adopt the belief of separation creating a me vs. you scenario. Back in the early days of our existence there was no concept of I. Most primitive cultures did not even have a word for I. This idea of separation is the most damaging and at the heart of every argument and disagreement, every war. Scarcity becomes the norm and when there is not enough people do not care about anything but themselves. A survival mechanism is triggered inside you and that is the only thing that matters.. You are alone fighting for your life.
Sheryl says that it seems to be the way our nation is operating now in the middle of this pandemic and election cycle 2020. Still some people are trying to encourage cooperation over competition and Law and Order and fair play.
James says he saw happy people around him and couldn’t understand why his own life was such a struggle. He didn’t have decent relationships. He was in pain and in order to cope with the pain he began doing drugs. He got to the point where drugs became his whole life, not just an escape. Change may often be painful but that pain or reaching the night of the soul or the bottom of desperation is often a time when people reach out to ‘Spirit or God and Ask for Help and often find their way forward. James was running away from a drug dealer he stole from and found out later this drug dealer had killed someone in a similar situation. James had to change or he would be dead. So sometimes when we reach the lowest point possible we ask for help and then change begins.
One of the most rewarding discoveries of life has been understanding what perception and assumption is and how it affects every decision we make. Perception is how we view the world and of course it is developed through every experience we have from birth. Perception literally is your life. Understanding how it works is the difference between driving in the dark and using your headlights. Remember you have never made a bad decision, you have only ever made decisions on the basis of bad information. Well it’s your perception that gives you the bad information. This bad information may be based on assumptions. The fundamental principle that underlies perception is that You do not see reality. As a matter of fact, your experiences have no real meaning except for the meaning you give them. If we don’t see reality, what do we see? What you see is an assumption. Your mind collects all the available information and makes a decision about what the information means. The next question is: Where does my mind get the information to make assumptions. It gets it from the past. It gets it from memoires with strong emotions tied to them and the fact that memories with strong emotional ties are used more often presents us with other problems. Most people’s self esteem or assumptions about themselves are realized by age 6,so often as an adult we are still using the perception of childhood with limited information, that doesn’t allow us to see that often what we want is right in front of us. Learning that the possibilities for success, love and happiness are infinite has been one of the most rewarding discoveries of James’ life.
James wants readers and those who see the film Perception to remember that our biggest issue is we fail to realize that the opportunity to get everything we want is already there. It’s just sitting outside our awareness. We can’t see it because we don’t believe it. We live in a world of infinite possibilities. In every minute of a lie, anything is possible if we believe it. We believe our life is dictated by the things we see, but, actually, it’s dictated more by the things we don’t see. The Law of Attraction, vision boards and the power of positive thinking work because they help you believe what you want is possible. They help you see more of the opportunities that are already available and then the power of intention will move you subconsciously towards the things you want and the people who can help you get them.
We thank James and Steph Purpura authors of Perception showing us that it’s no good only asking what you need to DO differently. Instead you need to PERCEIVE differently. Perception is everything and in this book the authors lay out how to unlock our perceptions, challenge inner beliefs and change behaviors. The Purpuras have spent years testing ideas, theories and practices and through trial and error created a program that resulted in their professional and personal success.
In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have learned how we create our lives through perception and assumption. It’s not just your past that generates priorities and the patterns or habits that we live our lives by, but our perceptions and assumptions and our need for safety and survival motivated by fear . Perception’s main priority is survival and your perception does not care if you are happy, successful creative or fulfilled. It does not care what your dreams are or whether or not you have a great life. It evolved to do one job and one job only. It evolved to keep you safe. In order to survive we had to adapt to our environment and process information very quickly and perception does use fear of the unknown to keep you safe. It also programs you to avoid anything new or unfamiliar or to take risks. Now the three keys that dictate how we create our lives beyond perception, assumption and fear and take risks to make necessary changes leading us to a successful life include the ability to recognize opportunities, make decisions and take action. Though perception has evolved to do the opposite of these practices.
James writes, “Perception uses assumption to give meaning to your experiences and your life becomes a pattern with your past casting a shadow over your future….Here’s how it works. Everyday you have experiences. Your perception searches your memory for the experience most similar to the one you’re having now and applies the same meaning it did the last time. When you have the same meaning, you do the only logical thing and make the same decision. This is how the pattern repeats in your life—lather rinse repeat—because your past is always casting a shadow over your future. Welcome to the Matrix. …Everything you are seeing and experiencing is dictated by the program. So as we come to change the perceptions and assumptions that are the conclusions of a state of evolution that might limit our actually learning to understand emotions in a realistic and effective way helping us to move out of our limitations and the restrictions of childhood trauma we come to face the same experiences but to make different conclusions and take different actions so we change ourselves our interpretation of repeating experiences and create better results. We learn to ask better questions and discover that wanting to be right all the time will keep us stuck forever.”
James Steph and I would have you know that no matter how hard things might seem at any given moment that time passes, and the next moment arrives where with help from above. and from those we love here in this life, we find something to be positive about. We can stop blaming ourselves and others and begin to build a foundation from the ground up. Each of us is born with everything we need within us to recognize and realize our life plan or destiny and with that true belief everything is possible.

The post How Do You Turn Your Life Around? appeared first on WebTalkRadio.net.
Welcome to “Healing From Within” with your host Sheryl Glick a Reiki Master Teacher energy practitioner, medium, and author of her newest book in a trilogy, A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening sharing messages from Spirit that show us our challenges are not merely economic political or societal but a disconnect from our true being or soul essence. Today Sheryl is delighted to welcome Judge James W. Tamm, author of Radical Collaboration which provides tools to increase your ability to work successfully with others and get the results desired.
As listeners of “Healing From Within” have come to expect from Sheryl and her empowered and knowledgeable experts in their fields who share intimate and personal observations and evaluations as a means to improve the human condition and life personally as well as collectively, reaching for a higher level of awareness and higher consciousness as we explore the many aspects of thought and creation that influence life decisions. Each show helps us self-investigate, leading us to recognize we are more than physical beings and our energetic presence when addressed helps us know life in its infinite possibilities.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Judge Jim Tamm, author of Radical Collaboration an expert on dispute resolution and building collaborative relationships, mediated more than 1,000 employment disputes during his 25 years as a senior administrative law judge for the state of California. James is currently managing director of the international consulting firm Business Consultants Network, Inc. We will discuss how to figure out what your own defenses are and why you have them and then learn how to deal with defenses other people have. With an increased sense of safety, openness and authentic interactions become a pathway to improved relationships and greater happiness overall.
When Judge Tamm is asked to think back to his childhood and remember a person place event that may have signaled to him or others the interests work and lifestyle he might pursue as an adult Jim tells us he wanted to be a pilot a fireman and a lawyer and Sheryl laughs and says like a Vitruvian man you have lived all your soul dreams.
Judge Tamm tells us why he decided to write Radical Collaboration and how personal challenges or experiences played a role. He gives us a definition of what Radical Collaboration is. Radical is from the root word “fundamental,” favoring basic change as in the social structure. Collaboration means to work or act jointly, to labor together.
Since Radical Collaboration offers practical methods to improve your skills for building collaborative relationships and is well researched and has documented dramatic positive results, many businesses and corporations operating in increasingly complex global markets, it is necessary to bring consultants in to teach these methods.
Studies have determined that almost one hundred organizations reduced their conflict by an average of 67 percent over a 3-5 year period.
The ten most troubled organizations at the start of the project reduced their conflict by an average rate of 85 percent after three years.
Over a six-year period, individuals from nine countries reported they reduced their own defensiveness in conflicts by half and were 45 percent more effective at getting interest met in conflicts using the skills in Radical CollaborationParticipants also reported significant gains in their ability to build and maintain climates of trust.
Thirty years ago we coined the terms Red Zone and Green Zone showing between a highly conflicted adversarial culture (Red Zone) and Green Zone (a more collaborative culture) to denote the two ends of the spectrum in all human communicative experiences. In the second edition of the book we added something that we call the Pink Zone. It’s a more conflict-avoidant, passive-aggressive organizational culture that we believe has become the predominant culture within our client base today and probably in the corporate world in general.
We originally used the Red Zone to refer to human behavior that’s fear-based and mostly defensive. It was meant to mark when someone was becoming reactive and acting out a variety of self-protective defensive behaviors. These Red Zone behaviors included both aggressive and passive aggressive mind sets that were self-justifying and often resulted in overly charged responses to the immediate situation. It has become clear that people understood the concept of fear-based defensiveness and almost immediately identified as active or passive but they did not like being lumped together with the opposite alternative reactive behavior. Conflict avoidant, passive aggressive people did not identify with the overt Red Zone behaviors and would describe their own behavior as Green Zone because they could not/would not see themselves as acting out Red Zone Behaviors. They believed anything other than aggression was cooperation. They resisted when we talked about Green Zone as effective behavior because they thought the only alternative to Red Zone behavior was wimpy, passive behavior that they assumed was the Green Zone we were talking about.
During the financial crisis of 2008 it became apparent to many corporations that to survive there was a need for effective collaboration. It became clear that they could not compete externally if they could not first collaborate internally.
Defensiveness arises out of conflict and is a remnant of troubling or traumatic events experienced usually in childhood. Understanding why and how it surfaces allows us to dispel the remnants of these feelings and engage in more productive interactions. Judge Tamm shares The Five Essential Skills to overcome defensiveness.
By understanding Collaborative strategies are not simply another business methodology many companies learned this the hard way when they tried to create teams without first teaching employees the skills necessary for effective teamwork. Many companies have developed all their employees for years to excel at becoming “star” individual collaborators Now with a change of policy they are supposed to think, feel and act like a team where their greatest accomplishment now might be to support someone else’s success. Without collaborative skills a team is just a group of individuals who each follow their own agenda.
TRUE COLLABORATION BEGINS WITHIN THE INDIVIDUAL NOT THE ORGANIZATION.
WE discover that Individuals in the Green Zone convey an authentic, non defensive presence. The Green Zone gives individuals the attitude and a state of mind that allows them to focus their energy on creative problem solving. In an atmosphere free of intrigue, mistrust and betrayal, individuals have greater opportunity to realize their full potential.
THE FIVE ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSThe right attitude, telling the truth, self-awareness, being accountable, and skillful problem solving make a difference, regardless of the nationality, culture, size or nature of the organization.
The ability of team members and organizations to handle stress, challenges, failures and changes in environment depends on the self-awareness and self-esteem of the team members and their ability to work compatibly as a team.
Example: At the pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly Dave Hause has responsibility for managing alliances with Lilly’s manufacturing partners. Hause reports that when they are training people who work in alliances, they first use difficult case simulations that teams are rarely able to resolve. Then they teach them the Green Zone concepts and attitudes and have them redo the case. The teams usually do much better.
We discuss the signs that you or others are becoming defensive and how to limit the effects. First of all, defensiveness is not about protecting ourselves from other people. People get defensive because they don’t want to experience uncomfortable feelings within themselves. Getting defensive will temporarily block the feelings they don’t want to experience.
Psychologist Gary Chapin calls defensiveness secrets we unknowingly keep from ourselves. For example if Ron or Jim are leading a workshop or giving a speech and we fear we are not doing a competent job that fear can create considerable discomfort, we may unconsciously behave in ways that allow us to avoid dismiss or diminish it. This usually involves blaming someone else.
Remember that defenses are biologically based so defensiveness can be detected from physiological cues typically fight flight or freeze reactions. Defensiveness is so difficult to deal with because defenses operate independently of our conscious thinking processes. They are by nature autonomous cand unconscious.
Individual defenses emerged from each person’s history. They helped people cope with the created certain behaviors to defend themselves from fears of feeling insignificant incompetent unlikeable or helpless. Without defense, coping with childhood and adolescence would have been difficult if not impossible. Some defenses children may have developed. If parents constantly fought, perhaps the way to defend oneself might be to stop listening so well. Maybe you couldn’t block out the fighting so you numbed down your emotions so you wouldn’t feel so much pain. As an adult you may feel less pain, anger and sadness by a limited range of emotion but also experience less joy, love and excitement. Or perhaps you learned to get sick as a defense so you would get attention and not feel ignored. Maybe, you learned to become sarcastic or withdrawn or to be passive aggressive. Some people chose to become confused. Some become withdrawn into silence. When faced with criticism that creates uncomfortable feelings some people tune out as a way of breaking contact rather than staying conscious of their uncomfortable feelings and dealing more directly. It is easy to see how and why defenses are created by difficult childhoods that include alcoholic or abusive parents, multiple divorces, or bullying situations.
But defenses are also learned in perfectly normal, everyday, average non traumatic childhoods. One person may take the situation personally, another child may blow it off and not carry a traumatized feeling down the road. Looking at your own defenses is a necessary step towards overcoming defensiveness.
The first step towards overcoming your defensiveness is to become aware of when you are getting defensive. Defenses are created during events in your history. So we encourage you to engage in some emotional archaeology uncovering your own emotional history.
You can draw a Conflict Line. Focus on issues where you feel the most distressed. Visualize the significant conflicts in your life.
Here is an example of Conflict Lines. Born Age 10 Parent’s Divorce Age 12 Fights in School Age 17 Car Issue Age 22 Roommate Senior year Age 35 Father- In- Law Issue Reflect back on a time in your Conflict Lifeline when you were a child and less able to fend for yourself, a time when you were shamed, laughed at, ridiculed or bullied. Let yourself get a sense in your body as well as your mind.
Re Experience what you are feeling or thinking. Then answer these questions.
What were you feeling emotionally? Were you scared, confused, ashamed, helpless, hopeless, humiliated or full of dread? What was happening in your body? Were you feeling a tight chest, shallow breathing, increased heartbeat, hot or cold, wanting to fight back, or a sense of rubber legs or impending collapse, wanting to run or stiff as in scared stiff? Was your vision or hearing altered in any way?
What were you thinking?
Were you confused, trying to make sense of why this was happening to you or what you did to bring this on, or did you freeze, with no thoughts at all?
What was happening to your energy?
Were you feeling aroused, activated energized or dead zombified numb f
rozen? How long did this change in energy last? Did you get help or fight back or just shut down?
What do you feel now as you look back on the scene?
Have there been similar situations in your life?
Look for repeating patterns or themes/ There are many signs of defensiveness.
Some are:
Creating A Plan to Combat Defensiveness Here are six steps for defeating defensiveness
We might ask this question, “Do you build your relationships from the Red Zone, the Pink Zone, or the Green zone?” to further help us understand the zones and where we operate more effectively. If you discover that staying in the Green Zone helps you with the first essential skill, Attitude and Intention, you will begin to focus more on why you become defensive and choose to develop the characteristics of being in the Green Zone more of the time.
A person in the Green Zone:
Takes responsibility for the circumstances of his or her life.
Seeks to respond non defensively.
Is not easily threatened psychologically
Attempts to build mutual success
Seeks solutions rather than blame
Uses persuasion rather than force
Can be firm, but not rigid, about his or her interests
Thinks both short and long term
Is interested in other points of view
Welcomes feedback
Sees conflict as a natural part of the human condition
Talks calmly and directly about difficult issues
Accepts responsibility for the consequences of his or her own actions
Continually seeks deeper levels of understanding Communicates a caring attitude
Seeks excellence rather than victory
Listens well
Sheryl says This seems like many people who have engaged in spiritual practices, body work and intellectual awareness of the philosophers and leaders in history who have become aware of higher consciousness and sought to find enlightenment. It takes a great deal of time effort and consistency to develop the attitude and skills to be in the zone or as Judge Tamm calls it the Green Zone
A large part of the book deals with techniques for effective collaboration. Judge Tamm tells us about some and which technique will probably be used the most.People are constantly sending signals and everyone looks for signals from others. We are social beings and we pay attention to others for signs relating to our relationships and the intentions of others towards us. As social creatures, we use nonverbal cues such as expressions, gestures, distance, and tones, to manage our interactions with others. These signals impact our core emotions and have profound effects on our mind-set and risk assessment.
This all happens quickly beneath conscious awareness. Researches at MIT have developed portable recording devices that can measure many of these nonverbal signals such as how close you stand to someone else, your tone of voice, your level of energy, percentages of time that you’re speaking versus listening, speech timing and flow, and position of your body in relationship to others. The researchers developed computer algorithms that can predict your persuasiveness based on these nonverbal signals. A lot of research demonstrates that credibility is dramatically reduced when tone of voice, body language and content are out of alignment. These figures are representative of when collaborations are not going well and confrontation is building
The numbers commonly cited regarding the impact of a message in those circumstances are
Content (the words) accounts for only 7 percent
Tone of Voice accounts for 38 percent
Body language accounts for 55 percent
Quiet introspective overworked or overwhelmed people may not be as open as those who are more relaxed, laid back and fearless or courageous and adventuresome or extroverted people.
An example in the book of Jim an executive giving a presentation to newly hired employees professing to be open but he is really is not shows us that If the executive is not an open person himself he also has concerns that the other party being addressed will take a lot of his time with their complaints about his new policies, While he says what is required of him during the speech, his body language may suggest something else and listeners will pick up this sentiment…I need to tell you to be open because that’s what I am supposed to say, but I don’t really want to be that open and I don’t want it from you either. Emotions play such a huge role in our social interactions that we can’t hide them. They leak out in our communications through tone of voice and body language. When they are inconsistent with the words of the message, they play a larger role in communicating the real message. Instead of saying what he was supposed to, this executive might have said the following to his employees, “ I know that creating a more open environment is going to be crucial for our success. I have a few fears of my own about that. I am a very private person so this will be a stretch for me. I’m a little concerned that I’ll get overwhelmed with complaints about all the changes taking place. But I also know that to become successful as we intend, it’s absolutely necessary for us to be able to share our concerns, to tell the truth, and to listen to the truth. So I am asking all of you to stretch a little to become more open with each other just as I make this commitment to you. This message will not be undermined by an inconsistent tone of voice or body language because it is honest.
Judge Tamm might like readers to take away with them after reading Radical Collaboration the Strategies for Building Collaboration.
There are ten strategies for Building Collaboration
Go first
Be open and direct about your intent to collaborate
Pay attention to responses
Keep talking
Forgive quickly (Respond positively when others cooperate)
Agree ahead of time on systems for conflict resolution
Conduct regular reviews and actively monitor relationships
Use graduated sanctions
Make a commitment to a higher ethical standard
Use Interest Based Negotiations to resolve any differences or disputes
We thank Judge James W. Tamm, author of Radical Collaboration for sharing practical tools that will increase our ability to collaborate, cooperate and reach solutions to many of the overwhelming problems in business family and personal relationships. As we have discovered, collaboration skills are essential for today’s workplace and have never been more important.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have offered an awareness for creating trusting cooperative environments, and transforming groups into motivated and empowered teams, as we increase our ability to work successfully with others, learn to be more aware of colleagues and their unique abilities and liabilities as well, and learn to problem solve and negotiate our way beyond the challenging events in today’s rapidly changing world.
Judge Tamm writes, “Parties are now engaged in the creative part of the process, trying to find solutions that will meet as many interests as possible. They should be tenacious about getting their interests met. However, since there are usually many ways to satisfy any interest, they should be flexible about how they get their interests met. Always look for mutual gains, If you find you have mutual interests, exploit them. If interests aren’t mutual then try to align them so they dovetail. It that isn’t possible, at least try to get your interests met without doing damage to the other side’s interests. The best way to end up with a good solution is to have a large number of options to work on…….To create a compliance-prone solution, you must address the needs of your partners, so give their problems just as much energy as your own. A rich source of ideas for solutions is objective standards such as industry practices, comparability studies and wage surveys. It seems having the tools to make decisions is as important as the environment of cooperation and good will that must be established in order to find fair solutions.”
Judge Tamm and Sheryl would have you realize that for larger groups working with complex issues and strong constituencies, the process may sometimes be lengthy and time consuming, but as always, and in the end, collaboration is found through willing it so, and trusting the plan for success when all parties finally begin to remember there is a way and will for success, if we let go of doubt fear and seek unity.

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with your host Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Energy Teacher medium and author of her newest book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which shares stories and messages from Spirit that show us our challenges are not economical political or societal just a spiritual disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom. Sheryl is delighted to welcome Beth Cramer author of Why Didn’t I Notice He rBefore who shares how the journey towards purpose and happiness could be found through the lessons learned after an abortion and a cancer diagnosis.
Beth as listeners of “Healing From Within” are so well aware Sheryl and her amazing guests share intimate and inspiring experiences that prove to us that we are spiritual beings having a physical life for the purpose of allowing in the course of spiritual maturation and through facing the challenges of a physical life journey awakening to our true sense of Being and to ultimately know ourselves as eternal souls capable of great love compassion and service to others. The duality of life spiritual and physical can be both a curse and a miracle.
In today’s episode of ‘Healing From Within” Beth Cramer will share how a difficult diagnosis of stage 4 ovarian cancer shook her free from the prison of obsession and depression and made her view herself and life in a totally new way. Beth shares a story of soul awakening through the challenges of dealing with that cancer diagnosis and the loss of several dear friends from cancer at the same time, but then Sheryl believes often the soul creates such challenges as a means to awaken us to new ways to view Self and life in a whole new healing fashion. Adversity can be a means to find peace and Self- Love.
In the Preface to the book we learn about a book Beth is working on about Lili a visual artist going through emotional hardships, a divorce, the loss of a dog, parenting a strong- willed child, and financial problems and realizes in analyzing her drawings it would be hard to deny the brain tumor and her ultimate death were reflected in her work. Many people think the subconscious mind might know before illness is discovered.
Sheryl says that she interviewed Kathleen O’Keefe Kanavos Author of Dreams That Can Save Your Life co-authored with Dr. Larry Burke and to hear how Kathleen dreamed of her breast cancer and went on to insist the doctors continue to do the tests needed to locate the cancer even when they were unable to find it by ordinary testing it ultimately saved her life. Go to Shery’s website www.sherylglick.com June 2019 to hear this episode.
Beth tells us of a psychic she visited that her sister Mauri who swore by this woman’s powers encouraged her to go when she was in college . Beth tells us the reading was done over the phone. The psychic medium could not see her nor did she have any information about Beth prior to the call. Prepared to spend a hundred dollars on what Beth to be folly was unusual for Beth. While Beth didn’t ask any questions about a future family after she married, the psychic said, “Having children will be a bit of a science experiment.” This was before reproductive medicine was common and motherhood at that time was just an abstraction in Beth’s mind. After 45 minutes she went silent. We were not disconnected and I could hear her breathe. When she spoke again her voice had a hard edge. She informed me that since I’d agreed at the start of the session not to be told any foreboding information about my future she could not go on. In 1999 had I heard what inauspicious future awaited me, it would have sounded absurd, just as her vision of my experimental pregnancies did. But in 2003 one of her predictions came true in a big way. I reproduced in a lab. Scientists monitored my ovarian reserve, follicular dynamics and biomarkers. Science hormonally altered my body to produce an egg. Did the psychic also know I would get cancer eighteen years later in September of 2017? Sheryl says as an intuitive healer and medium who does readings for clients she basically does not pick up negative information only information to help the client further know their own spiritual gifts and find positive ways to live with all challenges making the best choices and finding out more about their own life path.
Beth goes on to tell us of your life with her husband Todd and their son Noah and then something of an abortion she chose because her husband really didn’t want a second child. Abortion is such a charged subject in the public arena now as it has been for many years and Beth goes on to discuss how it affected her personally.
Beth goes on to tell us how she is sick—I’m sick –I’m sick with regret.” She begins a pilgrimage to find healing and an obsession to astrologers, psychics energy healers a divine mother, naturopaths, dream therapists, vibrational healers, acupuncturists and specialists working in areas she had never heard of before to deal with the abortion and her husband having a vasectomy. Beth was still intent on having a second child and began researching reproductive technology. The endocrinologist at Cornell told Beth she had diminished ovarian reserve which meant poor quality eggs….unlikely to conceive. I would need an egg donor to have another child. I also feared another child could jeopardize the family I had. Todd was opposed to another child and Noah liked being the only child. Though Beth’s therapist told her this obsession was a violent action towards myself she could not stop. It was an arduous process finding an egg donor and following the strict schedule necessary to create a child.
Beth tells us the challenges about the process to find an egg donor and follow a prep cycle to make sure her ovarian lining responded to medication and so the donor and Beth could synchronize cycles. Following a match Beth needed to do what is called a prep cycle. The prep cycle should last twenty one days. It took Beth one hundred and eighty -nine. Nine prep cycles and not because she was not responding to the medication. Every morning she would question her motives and her commitment to this dream of having a second child and the toll it was taking on her relationship with Todd. Each cycle required injections of intramuscular shots of Lupron FSH HCG and hormones galore. Beth prepared the needles and shot up on her own without help. Her therapist pointed out that she was basically like a person who was a cutter inflicting self harm on herself.
Beth goes on to tell us about the diagnosis and about what she has learned about Ovarian Cancer. Most people know Ovarian cancer is rare. It is called the silent killer. Most people such as myself have no warning signs. What is most surprising is it is never found at an earlier stage and once found it has already spread to other organs and is difficult to treat. It often happens sporadically in people with no family history of the condition. According to the American Cancer society there are no reliable screening tests for ovarian cancer. While some women diagnosed with ovarian cancer have elevated leves of the CA 125 protein the associated blood test is not accurate enough for ovarian cancer screening as many non cancerous conditions can also increase the CA 125 level. What are the symptoms of ovarian cancer anyway? Beth tells us that constipation, unusual abdominal pain abdominal pressure or bloating, feeling extrememly full after meals weight gain or weight loss back pain and fatigue but those are the symptoms of simply being a woman.
Meanwhile Beth added up the signs leading to the reality of her getting cancer. One she was writing a book about a woman with cancer. Her attention and focus were constantly on this topic and as we know often what we focus on comes into our reality. Two, Beth’s cancer is not genetic, but grew from her ovaries—the organ of her obsession starting with the abortion and leading to assisted reproductive technology. Three, Tom the exchange boy from Europe entered our home at the exact time my son Noah could use a companion and his presence added life and joy to our house helping Beth deal with the reality of her possible need to be somewhere for treatment. It was as if an angel were sent to help distract Noah from his mother’s serious health challenge. Beth is fortunate to have three sisters and her Mom and Dad who are an excellent support team. As we will see in Beth’s story sometimes we are not able to shed our demons until we receive a death sentence.
When Beth first admitted her theory that her obsession and anxiety over the abortion years before targeted her ovaries and triggered cancer, a chorus rings out, “You are not that powerful” Oh, come on, the coincidence between my mental illness starting from her ovaries and cancer starting from her ovaries it doesn’t seem the least bit ironic to Beth’s doctor. Dr. Kahn said flatly, “This is not your fault. You cannot give yourself cancer.” However, our thoughts and actions are extremely powerful and the Universe often gives us what we most fear, as well as what we most desire. It doesn’t judge, it often just delivers. Beth feels cancer is going to help her overcome her feelings of loss, but she might not be alive to enjoy her liberation.
Beth tells us something of a book she read by Bernie S Siegal M.D. called Love Medicine and Miracles that helped show healing of mind, body and spirit are more than just curing a disease.
The title insinuates that recovery depends on the willingness to believe our minds can influence the outcome. If we can influence our recovery, then we can influence the development of disease. Beth feels the connection between her debilitating regret over the abortion she had seven years prior to her cancer diagnosis and the targeted area of her disease (the ovaries) is pretty ironic. Dr. Siegal supports the belief that the body is capable of synchronizing with our subconscious or eternal soul energy which may create a disease or other challenge to help us evolve and expand our consciousness.
Dr. Siegal writes in his book, “Many documented casualties show that psychological influences play a large part in determining who will develop illness. It often determines what disease will occur and when and where it will appear,” writes Siegal.
Sheryl says that as she read Beth’s story she felt that Beth begins to realize that perhaps the cancer that had developed is a part of her inner being or soul journey and in Sheryl’s new book A New Life Awaits Sheryl describes her sister Rodelle’s pancreatic cancer experience among other realizations Sheryl made as a result of eight years of hospice volunteer work and Sheryl wrote, “In recent days, I have seen so many people in their hearts and minds being adversely affected by cancer. It seems we have reached epidemic proportions alongside other seriously challenging ailments attributed to an aging population and the stresses of modern-day life. Many have forgotten what our religious institutions have always held dear, the fact that the soul is an energy force of eternal magnitude and that a new life awaits us beyond illness, beyond fear, beyond sorrow or pain. But the focus while living must be to live with joy, hope, and a full appreciation for the beauty and value of life. Sometimes a disease or tragedy or changes in the world condition may help us reconnect to our eternal truths and further our soul as well as our physical life growth.”
Sheryl believes cancer as well as other challenges our soul might choose to explore in this physical lifetime is not random and can with the right thinking and attitude offer opportunities to expand our soul energy and bring forth greater compassion and love into the world.
By the way Beth Sheryl tells Beth she often has sensitive or amazing coincidences with her guests as indeed we are all connected by our energetic imprints and at the beginning of Beth’s book she mentions and writes the word to the song A Thousand Years by Christina Perri which Beth said summed up everything she felt relating to the feelings of eternal love she had for the soul of the baby she had aborted. Sheryl says that when her twin granddaughter began to take singing lessons at the age of 7 and sang that very beautiful song at her first recital Sheryl cried the way she had cried on the day she first saw her in the hospital: so fragile after a difficult delivery. It was as if my soul and hers met on a level or world of love beyond this physical place and it has never changed. There are connections we can never fully understand with our rational ego- based mind or cold cognition but we can feel in our subconscious soul the memory of eternal life.
The song goes like this…I have died every day waiting for you
Darling don’t be afraid
I have loved you For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more.
Time stands still.
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What’s standing in front of me
Every breath Every hour has come to this
One step closer
Beth tells us her real challenge was mental illness, not cancer. Depression had come and gone her whole life
Beth writes, “Depression can’t be trusted. You might be blindsided by a depressive episode that could put you in your therapist’s office a couple of times a week which for Beth was a useless exercise because her depression wasn’t controlled by talk therapy but by medication. Some of history’s most talented writers have described the experience. J.K. Rowling once said in an interview with the UK Times, Depression is the most unpleasant thing I have experienced…It is the absence of being able to envisage that you ever be cheerful again. The absence of hope. That very deadened feeling which is so different from feeling sad. Sad hurts but it’s a healthy feeling. It is a necessary thing to feel. Depression is very different.”
Beth goes on to say that her calm, breezy attitude toward cancer isn’t because she didn’t consider it serious or that she wanted to die, but because it was such a relief from obsessing over future decisions. It’s an imperfect world and if it were a game of would you rather have depression or cancer for Beth cancer would have won. Beth sees cancer as a cousin of mental illness and reminds herself that since she believes her emotional state manifested the cancer her emotional state can eliminate it. Of course miracles of our state of Being and thinking can do just that.
Beth tells us how she feels Noah, her son and Todd her husband have handled her cancer diagnosis and treatment and how they have helped her.
Beth tells us of how Noah entered Middle School at the time when he found out his mother had cancer and the first thing he did was seek out the school guidance counselor to tell her his mother had cancer. Noah had never met this woman before so it was a courageous and intelligent thing to do and then he cried and showed him on the computer his mother’s website and all the videos she had filmed. He was so proud of his mother. Beth could see that Noah was resourceful, unafraid to show his vulnerability and has great instincts. Beth’s belief that Noah needed a school to nourish his soul rather than feed him Common Core standards so they put him back in the Waldorf educational system which was encouraged by Beth’s mother even though she in the past she had little confidence in what she believed to be strange and unconventional ways of that progressive system.
In the Chapter “Last One Standing” Beth speaks of four women in her small college town: a visual artist, a life coach, a yoga instructor and a healer. It didn’t matter to cancer that they were health conscious conservationists, mothers and under fifty five. But Beth came to rely on these women as role models years before they were diagnosed. Beth tells us of Lili, Elizabeth Erica and Angela.
Lili led her life chasing adventures and radiated determination and confidence. She was an accomplished photographer and made many films. It was not until her late forties that she had her two children and went back to college to earn an MFA in printmaking. Lili adopted two children whose mothers were drug addicts. Lili passed from brain cancer in December of 2015 Elizabeth had adopted four children: two from Guatemala and two from Rwanda. Elizabet was the self proclaimed adoption goddess and had a business guiding clients through the adoption process. When Elizabeth asked me to drive her to chemotherapy though since childhood I couldn’t stand the smell of illness I didn’t think twice. A year later Elizabeth went into remission and jumped into a new venue Life coaching. However the chemo had induced leukemia and she died soon after.
Erica was mythical a social star in the Hudson valley and busy befriending everyone. Erica was a skilled spiritual healer offering private holistic pregnancy and general healing sessions to help mothers connect more deeply with their babies. Though Erica didn’t want me as a client she wanted me to forgive myself for the abortion and be grateful that I did not have the baby. Clearly she said It was not meant to be or it would have happened. There are no accidents. Erica lived with cancer for four years. Beth proceeded to do a video on Erica and her positive thoughts and way of dealing with cancer.
Angela died two days before Erica. She had moved back to England. Angela took being health conscious very seriously. She was vegan, taught yoga every day and was close to fulfilling her master’s degree in nutrition. Her beautiful son went on to the Mountain Laurel Waldorf School with my son Noah Lili’s daughter and Elizabeth’s four kids.
Beth would like readers of Why Didn’t I Notice Her Before? to perhaps take away with them after reading your book the song which touched Beth and Sheryl’s heart A Thousand Years which is the message that to know love and life are eternal and to learn that the challenges we encounter in our everyday physical life are the pathway to greater truth and wisdom of the soul. Learning to live each moment without the sadness or regret of the past, nor fear of the future, allows us to hear the whispers of souls angels higher Universal Source as they guide us through life and ultimately welcome us once again to where we began or perhaps never left.
We thank Beth Cramer author of Why Didn’t I know Her Before? for sharing the story of her journey beyond abortion scientific exploration of ways of having a second child, depression, and a cancer diagnosis to share the miracle of faith and trust in a higher plan that has evolved beyond this challenging set of circumstances.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within ” we have explored the concepts of obsession, depression, illness and often our own worst enemy which is self- doubt and the fear of not completing one’s life mission whatever that is conceived to be. Sheryl remembers her father telling her long ago that she was her own worst enemy for Sheryl thought she could help everyone and with her love for people help them change whatever issues disturbed their well being. When she discovered it was not in her hands or in her power to control life, but only to let it unfold naturally, that sense of responsibility for her to help everyone, became less of a burden and Sheryl thinks that Beth and many of her sensitive family and friends who love life so much, eventually discovers that awareness, as well as the truth of our eternal soul life making it more valuable to enjoy the moment, and find peace happiness and an acceptance of life no matter what.
Beth and I would have you welcome the hope that when we venture beyond the physical life, the love of those we have known here will be waiting for us to reunite with them and joyfully express our gratitude for all our experiences together.

The post Dying to Live Beyond Regret and Cancer appeared first on WebTalkRadio.net.
Welcome to “Healing From Within.” I am your host Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Energy practitioner, medium author of A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which shares a metaphysical view of the duality of energetic and physical life and ways to understand the challenging fast moving changes of present times as we seek to know who we are, balance ourselves and planet to reach an awareness of higher consciousness and eternal soul life. We are not having a political, social, religious or economic problem simply a separation from our spiritual connectedness to Universal life forces. I am most happy to welcome Margaret Thompson author of Finding Color in Darkness a story of the devastating results of her son John Fish’s mental health disorder and the loss of her son by suicide.
As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware, my guests and I share intimate stories and insights into the deeper part of our remembering that we are spiritual beings having a physical life and are much more than our physical bodies. That awareness allows us to know that we possess wisdom that encourages us to dream, learn and seek joy and happiness, beyond all the challenges a physical world presents to us. Self-investigation and suffering sometimes leads to understanding our emotions and if we have enough time in this life to truly appreciate life no matter what difficulties and sadness we endured.
In today’s episode of ‘Healing From Within” Margaret shares a truthful account of how hard it is to live with a child that has a mental challenge. In John’s case Bi-polar disorder and up and down battle with sorrow and pain was a sadness for her and her beloved son. She also shares quite a bit of information on how to help your child and where to go to find professional help because we must ask Spirit and those in our life to assist in dealing with this daunting illness chosen by a soul to help them evolve perhaps at a higher and faster level of ascension.
When asking Margaret to think back to a moment of John’s childhood that was most reflective of his sensitivities for I feel the soul comes into this life with a plan and destiny and some have greater challenges than other souls but their challenges lead to the refinement of their soul energy and greater love Margaret tells us of their deep loving connection. Margaret writes, “As a child, John was very attached to me and loved to snuggle and hold my hand. As he grew older, he would often introduce me to new music. I worked in the MTV News department shortly after graduating from college, and at a local radio station as an intern during college, so we shared a passion for music, particularly alternative music. We did art projects together, cooked together, and watched shows and movies together. When John was in middle school, he got me hooked on Grey’s Anatomy and would insist I sit next to him on the couch and watch it with him every Sunday night. We were so close. I would, however, soon lose that deep connection to him.”
Margaret tells us something of your family life and how you noticed that John was suffering from Depression. Margaret wrote, “Depression is the invisible illness. I had always believed that happiness was a choice, and that a positive attitude, coupled with a healthy diet, proper exercise, a regular schedule and enough sleep, could cure any emotional pain. Now, however, I replay my son’s words in my head, “You wouldn’t understand.” I didn’t then, but I do now, as I lower my head in shame, for my ignorance of the enormous and unbearable pain John was suffering. I tried to understand, as many parents do, but it seemed such an abstract concept to comprehend. Abstract, until I discovered my son’s lifeless body in a closet, less than an hour after we had returned home from dinner. Now, I know all too well the real pain of emotional agony. The tightness in my chest makes it hard to breathe as I relive these moments while recalling the various events leading up to and following John’s death.”
“Clinical depression is a medical illness. Neurotransmitters in the brain do not function properly. Severe and chronic mental illness can be terminal. I did finally understand, a few months before John died, during his darkest and final battle with depression, just how much he was suffering. I tried to offer help, but he had already shut down. He had been in his third, and final, partial hospitalization program. It was extended from three to six weeks. He was supposed to see a therapist when he completed the program. I researched therapists and other programs, but John would utter nonsensical things and was unresponsive. I felt completely helpless as I observed him lying in a fetal position on the couch. Earlier in the summer he had seemed so happy. Well, at times happy, at other times he was somewhere else. I think he knew it was a matter of time. But he did try. He tried to go into a private facility in September. They had no beds, and the alternative was admitting himself to a public hospital. He had done that in April of 2013. It was a nightmare. They lock you up and try to medicate you into a stupor. John refused to take prescription medication. I applaud him for that, but it is an individual choice to make. He chose to live his life while being present, even though it meant experiencing great pain, but he also experienced incredible joy and profound insights. The highs and lows of being bipolar.”
Many young men have challenges and problems during their teenage years when so much is expected of them and their brains are not fully developed till around the age of 25 and sometimes this leads to making poor choices. Can you tell us what happened when John was expelled in his freshman year of high school and what you later discovered was a better approach to young offenders?
Margaret tells the story of what happened to John, a good student and loving soul who because of his illness and lack of mental maturity made a bad choice. She writes, “Somebody had informed the Vice Principal that John was found to have several packets of marijuana and a small knife, and John was very compliant when they brought him in for questioning in December of his freshman year of high school, John was expelled.
Sheryl feels as if she was a Special Education in the NYC schools with students ranging from 12 to 15 who had many emotional and health problems that could and should have been handled differently. John could have been suspended for a short time and put under the care of a competent therapist and other people to overlook his progress.
Since that time Margaret reports that there has been much progress to deal more compassionately with young offenders. In 2007, it was commonly understood that young offenders need restorative responses to the bad choices they make, as the brain is rapidly developing between the ages of 14 and 19, and the part of the brain that processes risks is compromised through this process. Therefore, adolescent offenders should not be treated with harsh disciplinary measures, unless of course there is violence involved, but the circumstances always need to be considered. Numerous studies have proven that those who were suspended, or expelled from schools, are at greater risk of falling behind. Studies have also shown that students at risk who are either expelled or suspended become further isolated, often leading to devastating emotional consequences, such as becoming dependent upon substances, alcohol, or turning to crime or self-harm. Young people need to know that others believe in them, especially those at risk.
We can and must determine when a young person is at risk.
“At risk” can be defined by many factors. Family dynamics, traumatic situations, assaults, mental health, poverty, emotional neglect, abuse (physical and emotional), etc., all put children at risk. By suspending, or worse, expelling, these adolescents, we are sending a message that they are unfit to live among us. They are too young to be given this message, and they often act out to get much needed attention. While completing a Master of Education program, I was told that behind every bad behavior there is a reason, and it is up to us, as teachers, to find out what that reason is, so that we can respond accordingly, and with compassion.
Many parents of a child who has a mental health problem may blame themselves. Sheryl tells us that no one is to blame. We are born with a certain life plan, challenges we will encounter and relationships we may work on.
Margaret reflects on John’s time in school after being expelled and where he had certain good and bad experiences.
Margaret writes, “Those feelings of terror slowly changed as I saw John flourish into a brilliant, and thoroughly engaged young man. His young teachers adored him, and he them. He became the ideal student and role model. What I didn’t realize, back then, was that John was gay. He had a huge crush on one of the students who cherished his friendship but was not interested in a romantic relationship. This connection, however, sustained John and allowed him to thrive. John did not wish to return to the public school the following year as he was on track to complete high school in three years, advancing at an accelerated pace, made possible by the one-to-one teaching and summer school. He also did not wish to be the subject of gossip upon returning to his former school. And of course, there was his interest in a fellow student. The following year was this student’s last year. At his graduation, one student was collecting all the awards. The Headmaster commented to me that John would, no doubt, be the one getting the awards at his graduation the following year. If only that had been true, but, after the departure of John’s friend, John’s bipolar disorder (which is heightened during the turbulent teen years) caused him to crash and burn.
Margaret tells us about a suicide film Margaret has watched and what she learned from it and writes, “Last night I watched a film on Netflix, “My Suicide.” Researching the topic of suicide has helped me to better comprehend John’s torment. It is not light reading, but it is therapeutic. The film, I decided, would be another perspective for me to compile in my quest to understand what was going on inside of John’s mind; how was it that he was in so much pain that the only way out for him was to end his life?
The film is a quirky tale of a lonely 17-year-old boy who decides to make a film about his impending suicide for a film class. After the main character states the content of his film he is sent away to an institution, followed by therapy. There is speculation made about suicide and what leads a person to have suicidal thoughts. The characters contemplating suicide in the film blame their parents for either ignoring them, or for emotionally suffocating them. There are certainly many teens who dislike, and may even hate, their parents, but from my research, although these situations may well contribute to a person’s suicidal thoughts, that alone is not a clear indication that someone might become suicidal. There are humorous parts in the film about the mental health care system. It shouldn’t be comical, but it is, because the practice is broken down to a formula that is ineffective for many people. A one-size-fits all approach to mental illness, using medication and talk therapy, is dated, and not always helpful in the long term. Of course, some people have episodes of depression, or mild depression, and this type of therapy may be well suited to their needs. There are, however, many horror stories of people, particularly teenagers, whose minds are still in development, becoming more depressed after being put on medication, and who then take their lives as a result. When my ex-husband was put on medication for bipolar disorder, he became suicidal and was hospitalized. His doctor explained that it takes time to get the serotonin levels properly adjusted, and to find the right match for each patient. Many will say it’s like playing Russian Roulette. William Styron, author of Sophie’s Choice, wrote about his near suicide in Darkness Visible. He too was put on a medication, too high of a dose he later discovered, which increased his suicidal thoughts, but he had to wait two weeks to begin another drug. These are powerful drugs that can be harmful, even deadly.
Thomas Joiner, author of Why People Die by Suicide, writes that a feeling of disconnection, of ineffectiveness, and perceiving oneself to be a burden on others, are factors that, when combined with severe and chronic depression, can lead a person to contemplate, or perhaps complete, suicide. Therefore, making someone feel connected and effective, are key elements to helping someone overcome suicidal ideology.
John was bright, gifted and an old soul and Margaret writes something of his unique sensitivity. “While attending various colleges over the years, however, John became distracted by the turbulence of his emotions. His grades reflected his mindset; they were very much up and down, earning him A’s and C’s in the same subjects. Despite his emotional ups and downs, he was incredibly knowledgeable about life in general. He truly was an old soul, but this added to his pain as he was keenly aware of suffering around the world. He always wanted to help people. John was adored by the children at Star House, the home for abused children where John volunteered. He brought them Legos, played games with them, and engaged them in conversation. The director of Star house wrote a letter commending John for his compassion for these young children. After leaving Full Sail, John volunteered at the Crombie Street Shelter in Salem to help underprivileged children with math homework and technology. He also volunteered at the Open Door Pantry in Gloucester. He loved helping others, and he cared deeply for those who struggled, both here and abroad.
Many people think they have an idea what type of person might commit suicide but could be totally wrong. Margaret says she also made assumptions about what type person might attempt suicide but then realized there was much more to know.
Margaret writes, “Before John’s death I had somewhat assumed that a person who died by suicide was someone who was an outcast, a loner, and was someone who did not connect well with others. While that may well be how a person feels on the inside, on the outside, they are often very popular. I have come to recognize a common thread in the suicides of the offspring of people I have met on an online support group. Our sons and daughters were typically people who were wise beyond their years, empathetic, kind, witty, intellectually curious, and seemed to embrace and enjoy new adventures, and life in general. They were often deeply loved, comical, and creative. That was their public persona but, behind closed doors, out of sight from others, they wept. They did not want others to know their pain. Many went to great lengths to hide their torment, so as not to burden others. Perhaps their ability to experience emotions so deeply caused them to feel tremendous pain, but they also knew immense joy. That is the definition of bipolar disorder, great highs and deep lows.
Sheryl says It is also the gift of sensitive healers who are empathic and intuitive at a high level and can sense people’s discomfort their emotions and often their pain and dysfunction but healers and mediums like myself learn to know that much of what they are feeling are not their own feelings illness or sorrow. They are picking up the energy thoughts and physical sensations of others and can help these people to validate and heal many of these problems.
Margaret gives some quotes from some famous people who have committed suicide over the last few years.
Robin Williams’ friends: “He was always happy. Everyone adored him.” Kate Spade’s Dad: “I just talked to her an hour before and she was planning a trip. She was just like her brand – happy, cheerful and full of color.”
Anthony Bourdain’s best friend: “He loved his life and had this extraordinary ability to just connect with people.”
So, let me say this really loud so the people in the back of the room can hear me…SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO CHECK ON THOSE WHO SEEM THE STRONGEST. 1-800-273-TALK
Margaret might like readers of Finding Color in the Darkness to take away with them after reading your book what she wrote, “Although I have realized that I must forgive myself, the consequences of my inaction will forever haunt me. At the risk of sounding repetitive, I most likely could not have changed the outcome, but I would be more at peace with myself, knowing that I had tried to do everything within my power to save my son.
There was a publicity spot that appeared on a Facebook site, Living with Hope After Suicide Loss, in which a teenage girl is fixing her scarf around her bald-head in the mirror. Her mother, standing behind her, says, in a raised voice, “You’re not the only one with problems, you know?” The next scene shows the girl lying on her bed, while her father screams at her, “I’m tired of you and your pity parties!” The tagline reads something like, “We wouldn’t treat someone with cancer this way. It’s time we treat those suffering from mental illness with the same care and compassion.” The point I like to make is that not all battles are fought on the field; many are fought within.
Depression is an invisible illness. We may never know the struggles others might have, but we can always be kind, choose our words carefully, and respond with love and compassion, to any circumstance.”
We thank Margaret Thompson, author of Finding Color in the Darkness for bringing light and awareness to a painful sadness for many parents living with a mentally challenged child and finding the courage to learn to speak out and help others dealing with the same situation. If truth be told I doubt that any family is not touched by members who experience some level of mental health issues.
In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within Margaret has shared life with a sensitive son who marched to his own rhythm, intelligent and gifted he was unable to sustain the pressures and issues of an outside world mindset that is often insensitive to the most severely challenged of our population. Having dealt with this situation in my own family I know how hard it is to be unable to help this child’s sister, mother or father deal with something that causes them so much pain and makes their choices so limited.. We can in the end only love them and try to support their journey knowing that they are growing in soul awareness even though it may seem at times a hopeless or wasted life. Indeed it is the soul journey they have to experience and in the end will be free to live in eternal life
To understand how best to look at what seems like a tragedy read what Margaret wrote,
“I wrote the following response to an angry mother who posted on the Facebook support group, that her daughter had been selfish and cowardly:
I cannot be angry with my son John, because he suffered so much, off and on, throughout the years. I caught the end of a report on National Public Radio about suicide. The speaker said that a person with suicidal ideology slips into a state of madness and develops a distorted sense of self and others before taking their life. It is neither a selfish act, nor a cowardly one. It is a desperate act, to end the unbearable pain. People with severe depression who contemplate suicide can barely form words, let alone thoughts, in their final days. They do truly believe that others will be better off without them. The world around them is a blur. My greatest torment is knowing how much pain my son was in. As his mother, I wanted nothing more than for him to be happy, but bipolar disease is a horrible beast, and IT took him away from me. He would never have done this to hurt me, in his right mind. His beloved dog, who he called “my baby girl,” was near him when he hanged himself upstairs last November. I’ve struggled with posttraumatic stress, and enormous grief, but have a great therapist, and have learned to accept my new life, both the moments of profound joy (knowing that life can be tragically cut short), as well as accepting the profound sorrow. I take nothing for granted, and I do take comfort in knowing that my son no longer suffers.
Please try to forgive your daughter. You will be forever stuck in your pain if you do not. People sometimes implicate others in their suicide, but it is only in the state of paranoia and madness that is brought on by severe depression. I can’t speak for those who complete suicide under the age of 20. Young minds are not yet developed, and decisions can be made without the ability to understand the consequences. Teens who have been bullied are at greater risk of suicide. For those who make it into the adult world, if they are mentally healthy, they can usually overcome most of life’s problems. When the problem is within, however, the obstacles many of us face may become intolerable. In most cases of suicide, the person who completes suicide struggled with mental illness, off and on, from an early age.”
Margaret and I would have you remember yourself as a spiritual being of love who at the present time is having a physical experience which offers us the chance to self-investigate this short physical life to find beyond the suffering and challenges a way to when it is our time to find the way back home to eternal life.
