As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware, my guests and I share intimate stories and insights helping us to awaken more fully to the true nature of our duality and begin to explore energy and our soul essence so we may live more fully in the physical world of nature man and Spirit.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within author Sandra Shaw will share her friendship with Evelio in Costa Rica who helped her create an organic garden. In the difficult year battling unpredictable weather, wild animals and toxic chemicals their friendship grew and Evelio taught Sandra about the sustainability of rural Costa Rica in decades past. Their relationship and many other relationships led Sandra to open up to her difficult past and combine hers with Evelio’s stories creating profound personal change for both of them.

When Sandra is asked to think back to her childhood and remember a person place or event that might have signaled to her or to others around her what interests lifestyle or work she would pursue as an adult for often the story of one’s life is seen early on Sandra writes, “I remember the sound and smell of a northern October a sneaky gust of air bearing the chill scent of winter to-come, skittering dry leaves across the road, swirling around my legs and rattling my paper bag, as I plodded along on Halloween nights to the clutch of houses a mile down the road. I had an inkling of that same wind last night. Was my little sister Alison in tow on those Halloween nights? Surely, although I wouldn’t have taken her hand. It says a lot about the time and place – 1958, rural Pennsylvania – that our parents allowed two little girls to walk a mile and back on a dark, deserted country road for Halloween treats. We had no fear. But our parents weren’t paying much attention to us anyway, because they were in a crisis – the biggest one yet – which was to bring major changes for all of us for decades to come.

Meals were taken in heavy quiet at the kitchen table, the family silenced by our father’s tight-lipped rage. Being the elder sister, I assumed that he was angry at me. It didn’t help that in the late afternoons I would find Mom leaning against the back of the sofa, reading, feet propped on the coffee table, with a beer-mug full of gin and tonic at her side. We didn’t learn until we were in our twenties what the nature of that distant marital crisis was – our mother’s infidelity unmasked – although throughout our teens, my sister and I each harbored our unspoken suspicions. It is a judgmental age; so easy to blame, so difficult to see into the hurting heart of another, especially a parent. Alison and I carried this sense of betrayal – and in my case, the fear that I was doomed to be like our mother – into later life, when, in our separate ways, we could finally see that her love for us was greater than our grief.

Alcoholics are emotional abusers – they can’t help it, it’s all they know. They pull you into their vortex and make you feel responsible for everything that’s wrong, especially their illness. So you try rescue after rescue, which inevitably fails, and the failures mount up so high that it’s impossible to feel good about yourself, about anything. To rescue my own sinking soul, I had to break away. Writing was my way out. Entering another world is easy for me: I let myself go and open my eyes and heart and fall into it. And since I know I’m probably going to write about it later, I pay attention to the details. Perhaps writers suck up life from the things around them. Is this a form of theft? Do we plagiarize the living in order to feel alive ourselves?

Sheryl says it sounds like you enter into meditation and connect to Higher Self or the Afterlife as I do as a medium and suck up life as an empath?

Sandra came to Costa Rica with her husband in 1990, in the hope of finding a kinder lifestyle, warmer climate, and the opportunity to do those things they really enjoyed. He wanted to garden and fish and be outdoors; I wanted to start seriously writing for myself, instead of for others. Some people adapt easily to other cultures. Sandra’s mother imbued in her a love of travel and the sense that learning another language opened a door to a whole new, exciting, and possibly beautiful world. Although it took a while for Sandra to learn how to create my days outside the confines of a full-time job, she found everything around me so interesting – the people, the daily life in the little village where we lived, the challenges of farm life and cooking what grew all around us, and, of course, the language – that Sandra soon felt her new life had launched and her horizons were expanding.

Her husband, on the other hand, terribly missed the stature he had enjoyed in his profession in Philadelphia, and he began to feel somehow lessened by this move we had made. Always a heavy drinker, within a year he had fallen into a bottle of vodka, and he never came up for air. I can’t apologize to myself any more for my failures in that marriage – I’m sure I handled a lot of it badly. But, finally, I knew I couldn’t try anymore, and I had to release myself from his life and start again to create my own. Six years after we arrived in Costa Rica, I left him.

Sheryl says how interesting it is to note that our patterns formed in childhood often lead us to similar relationships in adulthood. They say you marry a person that closely resembles the parent you felt a strong connection to. Sandra had an alcoholic needy mother and married a man with similar issues.

Sandra describes the place she lived in and writes, “We live on a stretch of country road between two quebradas, among dozens of gullies and gorges carrying water from springs rising in the hills down to the basin of the lake. These remain as small patches of jungle threading through open fields and pasture. One of these quebradas runs alongside the original house on the property, deeply green and jungly, and filled in their seasons with toucans, oropéndolas, bejeweled hummingbirds, chattering parrots. Howler monkeys roam up and down the quebrada in search of tender new leaves, roaring everybody awake Evelio’s garden 8 within miles precisely at dawn. There are other creatures not so visible, nor so welcome. Opossums, coatis, kinkajous, skunks, tayras, weasels, squirrels, and porcupines – some of these have squeezed into the bodega at night to steal the bananas ripening there. There were iguanas on the roof, scorpions in the closet. Once, two baby armadillos scooted out of the woods to frolic on the grass near Roger, who was working on his car, brushing right past his legs. We built the new house high on a promontory overlooking the lake and volcanoes Arenal, Tenorio and Miravalles in the north central highlands. We had lived in the little house on the property for six years, dreaming of this home and talking it over in endless detail, before an inheritance finally allowed us to build it. It’s a traditional tropical house with a twist – two stories high – with deep overhanging roofs, a wraparound verandah, high ceilings, and beautiful teak woodwork (Roger’s specialty).

Sheryl says, “Yours was a journey of the soul to break free of a restrictive childhood and be part of the eternal beauty and graciousness of living a bold and open hearted way to connect to all of life the energy of Costa and the people land and freedom of living a simpler more involved life with the people you interacted with and this freedom was translated into the writing you did and the personal growth you had.

Sandra found that her life was different from life in the United States. She fell into the world Evelio grew up in when her Spanish teacher, Rosa Emilia, invited her on an excursion. She provided no details except that her uncle Francisco was leading. It was a typical family outing – complete with coolers, kids, and camp chairs – up into the dusty hills north of Cañas, to a remote farm with an unpainted wooden house shaded by an enormous guanacaste tree. There were no vehicles, no electric wires, no telephone poles. The family, a mother and three grown sons, greeted each of us with the traditional kiss on the cheek. The sons wore no socks in their misshapen leather shoes. The mother’s hair, in the style of country women of a certain generation, was wound elaborately around her head with a pompadour perched on top. They were delighted to see us, even with no advance notice of our coming. Rosa Emilia whispered that Francisco had met the family when he taught school in the district many years before. A short hike beyond the river was a lichened wall of petroglyphs: six yards high and 15 long, covered with pre-Columbian carvings of monkeys, fish, iguanas, humans, suns, moons, snakes, unfathomable geometric shapes – a fantasy in stone. There are ancient places – I have only encountered a few of these in my life – that give one an extraordinary sense of suddenly being stretched back in time. At these moments, I feel the innocent heart of some much earlier person peeking through my eyes at the marvel in front of me.

To Sandra, the life on that farm was familiar only from movies, but to Evelio, who grew up that way, it is as familiar as the face of his grandfather. Sandra needed to remember this before making any assumptions about a shared culture. It’s not only language that separates Evelio and me, but time.

Sheryl feels like Sandra was discovering her soul of many lifetimes and places and seeking to merge present day life with the love of past places and people. In Sheryl’s book A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening Sheryl shares that wisdom of knowing who we are as spiritual beings having a physical life bridging past present and future in the oneness of eternal life and Sheryl writes, “The Universe, it appears, is asking us to pay attention, wake up, and go beyond all differences and limited thinking to observe, make corrections, and reevaluate priorities and values. Let’s help the coming generations to have multiple and plentiful opportunities to live and discover the beauty and awe-inspiring hopes of past ancestors who were able to forgo uncontrolled impulses for material gains alone, finding genuine or authentic human qualities. I grew up in a time when there were peace movements along with world concerns for idealistic approaches to living well and where personal fulfillment was a valued commodity. But always, we brought the precious values of our ancestors in spirit with us, which positively affected our decision-making process and added to our spiritual awakening. Now, we must continue to work with all aspects of our physical and spiritual lives, to heal and create a world that offers hope in the face of personal or collective hardships, that may make us forget our divinity and ability to live with dignity.”

Sandra scribes her ex-husband’s gruesome suicide and their divorce. During that long and ugly divorce, both my ex-husband and my father had behaved so badly that I stopped speaking to my father for a year. He had sided with my ex, refused to help me financially and told me to go back to the States and get a job. Sandra was almost fifty, and was forced to ask herself why she had remained in a marriage with such an abuser for so many years. The revelation: I had been trained for it. That’s when murder entered my heart – and I saw the moment as a spiritual crisis. I sought help.

A year after the divorce was final, it took as much emotional exhaustion as courage finally to tell Dad why she had been so angry. But even though she didn’t fully understand how she had felt abused, he apologized, and we both tried harder after that, although the tension was ever palpable. One of the ways he made me feel bad when I was growing up was by calling me irresponsible. Hence, turning over his bonsai to me was a statement that – at least for the moment – I was trustworthy. Of course, I jumped at it

In that last year we were together, Sandra’s husband brought Roger home for dinner. He did this occasionally, inviting total strangers home, almost always unattached gringos who hung out at Mary’s Bar and Hotel in the mornings for coffee or a stiff pick-me-up. Sandra didn’t warm to Roger particularly. Frankly, she was inclined to be a little suspicious of people her husband liked. But we had a pleasant enough evening. Months later, riding my mare up past the all-night gas station, she rounded a curve and saw a small house in a messy state of renovation. Something compelled me to pull into the gate and dismount. Inside, Roger was working up a sweat with a handsaw over lengths of tongue-and-groove cedro for the facing of a breakfast bar.

I asked if I could look around, and as I explored the small rooms with their oversized windows and stepped back out onto the front porch, a giddy joy filled me up. The view over the Guanacaste Plain was long. I could live here, I thought … and a plan for leaving my marriage came into focus. I moved in when the house was still unfinished, and Roger showed up once in a while to smooth out the details. Although we chatted amicably enough, I kept to myself.

Sandra tells the story of her husband’s suicide and writes, “Sadly, I am always reminded of that June night years ago when a friend called me – I don’t remember now who – to tell me about my ex-husband’s suicide, but I have to say I wasn’t surprised, just horrified at the manner of it. There were witnesses from the shore: he had driven his small fishing boat out into the middle of the lake, tied the car battery that he used to power the electric motor around his neck and jumped overboard. According to those who saw him just before he took off from the ramp on the north shore, he was smashed. The news was all over the lake within minutes. The Red Cross immediately began a search along the banks, while those with boats waited until daylight and then began to comb the small coves and river mouths in search of some sign. The boat was quickly found, but the body – headless – showed up in the reeds along the south shore days later.

It wouldn’t be fair to paint him as some kind of villain. Before the booze started to destroy him, he was a bright, creative, witty, charming man. I was captivated almost from the moment he hired me (ignoring Rule Number 362: “Never marry your boss”). And we had moments of love, of connection with my family I might not otherwise have had, of adventure and travel. We shared music, books, and exciting work. But he always wanted to be center stage – he desperately needed that attention – and he was manipulative, jealous, controlling, vindictive, blaming. My big mistake was falling into the Responsibility Trap – I thought love was a feeling of responsibility for the other; I didn’t know enough then to realize that this is just the flipside of the alcoholic coin. It takes a long time to write a fair obituary of a marriage. My last word on that one has to be, “No regrets.”

Sheryl says it sounds like a description of Narcissistic Personality Disorder which seems to be a growing problem these days and those people cannot be helped or changed and often harm the others around them before they harm themselves. They live in a world of drama, chaos and unhappiness and cause much damage to others.

Sandra tells us about the environmental work she has been involved in while in Costa Rica. Understanding the uniqueness of the climate and environment is pertinent to the work she does in Costa Rica. It is interesting to me that not a single Costa Rican I know has any doubts about global warming, while there are still so many in the North who deny it altogether. It must be that living close to the land predisposes one to the idea that human beings are an integral part of the ecosystem and that we can, in fact do, damage it in countless ways.

There aren’t a lot of clues as to what season we’re in here in Costa Rica. We joke when we say there are only two seasons, rainy and windy, but in fact our neighbors refer to a sunny day as “summer” and a rainy day as “winter” even if these days are contiguous . One year, we had three days of average 70 mile-per-hour winds – with gusts over 100 – and one of the old erector-set wind towers just crumpled up and twisted down onto its side. There were so many trees and power lines down that week that we were without electricity for three days. Is our weather getting more severe? Year-to-year it’s hard to tell, without my having kept any records. But anyone over 50 in Tilarán will tell you that it has, that the local climate has, in fact, changed. “It didn’t use to be as dry or as windy,” the older locals say. Why? “There were a lot more trees.”

Sandra learned a great truth about the soul and the continuity of life by taking care of the failing bonsai trees her father gave her and wrote, “Taking care of my father’s bonsai has deepened my understanding of another living thing. To say that it is a miracle – this life form with its green fuse and white blood, its unfurling leaves, its innate thrusting out from the center – has been said before. But the bigger miracle here is me: the observer, the tender, the servant of these trees, the new lover of growing things, the one who is also growing. My parents are both gone now. But my father’s three ficus benjamina have survived many years of my intermittent care.

People ask me if it was tough to get Costa Rican citizenship. I don’t remember any particular difficulty with the paperwork – trámites – all ably managed by the lawyer who had handled my residency renewals. But I do remember – vividly! – the exams, one in Spanish and the other in history/civics/geography – for both of which I studied intensely for six weeks with the help of a couple of local high school teachers, and both of which were damned difficult. A happy byproduct of all that studying, however, was my discovery that I could actually learn to read in Spanish simply by doing it. I had been lazy about reading up to that point, but if I was going to meet the exam deadline there was no time to go to the dictionary every time I encountered a word I didn’t know. When my lawyer asked me if I intended to renounce my U.S. citizenship, I barely hesitated before saying yes. It just seemed to make every bit of sense to me at the time. My values had changed; my perspective on the U.S. had changed; the totality of my life – my heart – was here. So, I simply chose not to pursue dual citizenship and swore an act of renunciation in a tiny, bare interrogation room – yes, really – at the U.S. Embassy.

Sandra tells us how she came to know Evelio. Evelio is one of those people who are hard to shake. My second husband, Roger, who has the kindness to adopt the less fortunate, found Evelio working as a night guard at a local windsurf center and decided he could teach Evelio how to finish drywall. He was very busy with construction projects at the time and wanted an assistant. After his own projects were finished, Roger continued to find Evelio work, and in time his construction skills were honed to the point where he turned out to be a valuable member of the crew that built our new house. After that, he just hung around. A house, like a manuscript, is never really finished, and we had moved in long before all the details were done, so Evelio continued to make himself useful to the point where he became part of the furniture – just as Koki, our gardener and general factotum, and Rosa, our part-time house-keeper, have long been part of our daily lives. One day I came home from doing errands in town to receive the news from an excited Evelio that he was going to create an organic garden along the vacant stretch of our property facing the lake.

The garden has been Evelio’s opportunity to return to working the land he loves. for he started, but the garden has been driven by his fantasies right from the beginning: that he would revolutionize agriculture around the lake; that he would attract the interest and helping hands of others who would want to participate in the project; that he would find a ready market for everything he grew. When reality bites, he slides into a funk and needs a heavy dose of emotional support to keep him going. At the beginning of every encounter with him, I try to remember to take a deep breath. I try to remember to focus on the moment, to listen to what’s really going on inside him. I try to remember that, in giving him my present attention, I am not losing anything, but rather gaining by the exercise of my compassion. These things do not come naturally to me.

We thank Sandra Shaw, author of her newest book Evelio’s Garden, a bold and introspective look at life in a foreign land and an awakening to true healing as a result of change friendship and an open heart and mind. Learn more about the beauty of life in Costa Rica and a growing awareness of how to help preserve our beautiful world of nature by reading this descriptive book.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within Sandra Shaw has described in vivid language and stories of her life both in the United States and Costa Rica the urge of the wandering soul to self -fulfill their wildest dreams by moving out of their comfort zone and learning to love life nature and the beauty of all living things on this planet allowing for a growing awareness of our true soul capacity to expand and improve self and the community.

Sandra wrote, We’ve been here long enough to see people come and go. Some can brave the remoteness, the vagaries of the climate and the strangeness of the culture, and some can’t. Sandra Shaw Homer 143 Some people get attached to the land, and some don’t. When I was growing up, my family never lived long enough in one place for me to become bound to the land. We lived in some beautiful and some not-so-beautiful places, both rural and suburban. From my college years until I came to Costa Rica, I moved even more frequently, living exclusively in cities. It was a little shock to realize, when we started building this house in 2004, that I’ve lived on Lake Arenal, and on this particular plot of ground, longer than I’ve lived anywhere else in my life. You can’t get attached to the earth in Philadelphia or New York. How many millions of people never do? It’s this attachment that fires my desire to protect it – not just my attachment to this particular plot of ground, but to the whole planet. It’s not such a giant leap of the imagination from the sight of a young growing forest to the image of a tiny blue speck in the vastness of the universe. So, finally, it is the sense of place here that has captured me and pinned me to the planet. It is gratifying to be part of the history of the land, to be growing a farm instead of shrinking it, to be building a forest instead of cutting it down, to be adding something by our tenancy of the Earth.

Sandra and I would hope you can find people and places that pique your excitement in living and lead you to discover how to serve, grow yourself and contribute to the planet in ways that may not have material concerns, just the outpouring of love.

  • Scientific Evidence That Mind Can Influence Matter in Body and Beyond

Welcome to Healing From Within. I am your host Sheryl Glick, author of the newest book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening. Many of us are aware there have been tremendous shifts in all events happening globally economically, politically and socially but the real challenge now is to realize these are not the problem. The real problem and challenge is a spiritual disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom. Today Sheryl is delighted to welcome James Jensen, author of Expand the Power of Your Subconscious Mind who will help us harness the power of our subconscious mind to realize miracles and magic are not just quaint concepts but a way to manifest a purposeful and loving life experience.

As listeners of the show have discovered over the years my intuitive and imaginative guests seek a greater understanding of the true nature of our human and divine talents and gifts through understanding energy and how the mind heart and body contribute to a refining of our subconscious or soul essence for personal and collective advancement to higher levels of consciousness and a clearer understanding of the realities of life and energy as we define the duality of life as spiritual beings having a physical life.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” C. James Jensen draws upon decades of experience as an executive coach who draws upon his interaction with Dr. Joseph Murphy’s teachings- particularly his principles of the subconscious—how to harness it’s wisdom and power to manifest your deepest desires. James supplements Dr. Murphy’s ideas with modern day lessons and a toolkit of practices such as affirmations, visualizations, meditation and leadership skills.

Sheryl asks James what is in his background that makes him qualified to write this book exploring the discoveries by author Dr. Joseph Murphy written long ago as he discovered the principles of energy, the Law of Attraction and other metaphysical laws that allow us to align our spiritual energy with physical life. James tells us he began his career as one of the top salespeople for the publishing company Encyclopedia Britannica. At the age of twenty seven, he became vice president in charge of worldwide sales. He went on to become president and CEO of two other companies. Today he is providing executive coaching and advisory services to emerging growth and midsize companies. As an active member he serves as a life director for the Institute of Noetic Sciences which is an organization of scientific and spiritually minded gifted people who seek an understanding of the human and divine connection and how to transform our limited world view into an open -minded way to provide better lives for all citizens. James combined a business background and as he discovered the more mystical part of life he added that information to helping people use spiritual tools to improve life.

James goes on to talk about self-talk and why it is so important. The way we talk to ourselves constantly provides instructions to the subconscious or soul based part of us to ensure how we behave, but these instructions may not align with what we desire. How many times have you heard people say things like?

I can never remember names. I always get nervous when speaking to large groups. Or to their children: Why is your room such a mess? Why can’t you do things right? Once we realize what we say to ourselves (positive or negative) affects employees children and others we love, we can begin to change the data, transforming it into the positive outcome we truly desire

The subconscious manifests what we concentrate our conscious mind thoughts and makes them happen. So it is true that if we change our thoughts we can change our reality. We must pay attention to what thoughts we are allowing ourselves to engage with and if negative or harmful to us or others must disengage, not pay attention to if we wish to achieve different results.

We go on to discuss the three areas of the mind and their function. You have only one mind but your mind possesses two distinctive characteristics. The line of demarcation between the two is well known to all thinking men and women of today. The two functions of your mind are essentially different. Each is endowed with separate and distinct attributes and powers. The nomenclature generally is used to distinguish the two functions of your mind: the objective and subjective mind: the conscious and subconscious mind, the waking and sleeping min, the surface self and the deep self, the voluntary mind and the involuntary mind, the male and female and many other terms.

Your “conscious mind” is sometimes referred to as your objective mind because it deals with outward objects. The objective mind takes cognizance of the objective world. Its media of observation are your five physical senses. Your objective mind is your guide and director in your contact with your environment. Your objective mind learns through observation, experience and education. and the greatest function of the objective mind is that of reasoning.

Your “subconscious mind” is often referred to as your subjective mind. Cognizant of its environment independent of the five senses and perceives by intuition. It is the seat of your emotion and the warehouse of memory. In a word it is that intelligence which makes itself manifest when the objective mind is suspended or in a sleepy drowsy state. Your subjective mind sees without the use of the natural organs of vision. It has the capacity of clairvoyance and clairaudience. Your subjective mind can leave your body traveling to distant lands and bring back information often of the most exact and truthful nature. Through your subjective mind you can read the thoughts of others, read the contents of sealed envelopes and closed safes. Your subjective mind has the ability to apprehend the thoughts of others without the use of ordinary means of communication.

James tells us that, you must be certain to give your subconscious only suggestions which heal, bless, elevate and inspire you in all ways. Remember your subconscious cannot take a joke. It takes you at your word. Autosuggestion can banish fears. For an example. A young woman overcame her silent fear thoughts three times a day when she isolated herself in a room. She sat comfortably in an armchair, relaxed her body and closed her eyes. She stilled her mind and body. Physical inertia favors mental passivity and renders the mind more receptive to suggestion. She counteracted her fear of singing professionally by saying to herself, I sing beautifully, I am poised, serene, confident and calm. Her next audition was remarkable. You can do this procedure with any issue; the power of suggestion is often self-fulfilling.

From infancy on the majority of us have been given many negative suggestions. As an adult you can use constructive autosuggestions which is reconditioning therapy, the impressions made on you in the past can cause behavior patterns that cause failure in your personal and social life. Auto suggestion is a means of releasing you from the mass of negative verbal conditioning that might otherwise distort your life pattern making the development of good habits difficult.

Look around you and you will notice that the majority of mankind are intensely interested in the world without, and the more enlightened men are intensely interested in the world within. “Remember it is the world within, namely your thoughts, feelings and imagery that makes the world without.” It is therefore your creative power and everything in your world has been created by you in the inner world of your mind, consciously or unconsciously. To transform your life and change the external conditions you must change the cause.

James tells us that the main point to remember is once the subconscious mind accepts an idea, it begins to execute it. It is an interesting and subtle truth that the law of the subconscious mind works for good and bad ideas alike. This law when applied in a negative way is the cause of failure, frustration and unhappiness. However. when your habitual thinking is harmonious and constructive, you experience perfect health, success and prosperity.

James tells us how he discovered the writings of Dr. Joseph Murphy and incorporated his teachings into his own life? You have to know something about Dr. Joseph Murphy in order to understand how James has incorporated some of his thoughts into his life. Joseph Murphy was born on May 20, 1898 in the County of Cork Ireland. Brought up in a devout Catholic household with a younger brother and sister and a father who was a professor at the National School of Ireland he had a loving and balanced way for spiritual and physical life. He even considered the priesthood, but at age 24 withdrew and left Ireland for America. He eventually became a pharmacist and explored classes on various Eastern Religions and philosophies. Like most healers his soul knew that there were many ways to reach God and live a healthy physical life as well. In the 1940’s he moved to Los Angeles and became involved in the New Thought movement. He was ordained a minister of the Church of Divine Science and built one of the largest congregations in L.A. Dr. Murphy wrote over thirty books in his lifetime but his most well-known is The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. Dr. Joseph Murphy’s original book The Power of Your Subconscious Mind Was written in 1963.

James tells us that over forty years ago he resolved a malignancy in medical terms called a sarcoma by using the healing power of his subconscious mind which created and still maintains and governs all his vital functions. He feels sure many more people can trust the Infinite Healing Presence lodged in the human subconscious. The ancient proverb says, ”The doctor dresses the wound and God heals it.”

James tells us about the Institute of Noetic Sciences and his affiliation with it. The Institute of Noetic Science serves an emerging movement of globally conscious citizens dedicated to manifesting our highest capacities.

The mission statement is “We of the Institute of Noetic Sciences believe that consciousness is essential to a paradigm shift that will lead to a more sustainable world. We encourage open minded explorations of consciousness through the meeting of science and spirit. We take inspiration from the great discoveries of human history that have been sourced from insight and intuition and that have harnessed reason and logic for their outer expression.”

In The Foreword by Dr Lee Pulos he writes, “The rational mind can be a barrier to the full use of our potential. It limits our capabilities with such a tight focus and has philosophically cut us off from the experimental theatre of our subconscious, the great source of our power. The older growth forests of the mind contain the true potential—our intuition, our non-ordinary awareness, our dreams, our connection to the cosmic information field, our psychology, our spiritual landscapes, and yes, our mysticism…..But Joseph Murphy’s brilliant insights—about the depth and richness of our many thresholds of intelligence and corridors of our consciousness—have helped millions of men and women rediscover the deepest regions of our hearts and minds that we had forgotten. That we are much, much more than our rational minds.

Expanding the Power of Your Subconscious Mind is a reminder of some of the oldest wisdom such as that of the Buddha who said, “A man is the product of his thoughts.” And from an even older tradition, “Man is made by his belief—as he believes, so he is.” This is a book for every generation. It also follows and embraces one of Albert Einstein’s favorite sayings, “Make everything as simple as possible—but not simpler’

James discusses how to understand many challenges of everyday life such as health, marriage aging and Sheryl especially liked the practical look at aging and attitudes and ways to engage all times of life with good will and positivity. James writes that the subconscious mind never grows old. It is timeless, ageless and endless. It is part of the universal mind of God which has never been born and will never die. Be sure that your mind never retires. It must be a parachute which is no good if it doesn’t open. Retirement can be a new venture, a new challenge, a new path, the beginning of fulfillment of a long dream. Age can be the dawn of wisdom. Wisdom is an awareness of the tremendous spiritual powers in your subconscious mind and the knowledge of how to apply these powers to lead a full and happy life.

Age is not a tragic occurrence. What we call the aging process is really changing. It is to be welcomed joyfully and often at this time of life many learn of their powers which transcend bodily powers. He has senses that transcend his five physical senses. Scientists today are finding positive indisputable evidence that something conscious in man leaves his present body and travels thousands of miles to see, hear, touch and speak with people even though his physical body never leaves his couch. Man’s life is spiritual and eternal. He need never grow old for life, or God, cannot grow old. Do not fear old age because you anticipate mental and physical deterioration. What you think comes to pass. Continue to be interested in life and hunger after new truths and search for new worlds to conquer. You can help stabilize, advise and direct the younger generation and give the benefit of your knowledge and experience.

A growing body of scientific evidence shows that many health problems are related to tension and stress. Expanding the Power of Your Subconscious Mind offers suggestions or remedies to alleviate the stresses of today’s fast paced world Your subconscious mind controls all the vital processes of your body and knows the answer to all problems. A technique for healing was given to Dr. Murphy by a minister who told him the method he used to convey the idea of perfect health to his subconscious mind. His technique, as given to me in his own handwriting, is exactly as follows: Several times a day I would make certain that I was completely relaxed mentally and physically. I relaxed my body by speaking to it as follows: My heart and lungs and throat are relaxed, my head is relaxed, my whole body is relaxed. After about five minutes I would be in a sleepy drowsy state and then I affirmed the following truth, “The perfection of God is now being expressed through me. The idea of perfect health is now filling my subconscious mind. The image God has of me is a perfect image and my subconscious mind recreates my body in perfect accordance with the perfect image held in the mind of God. This is a simple easy way of conveying the idea of perfect health to the subconscious mind. Another way to convey the idea of health to your subconscious mind is through disciplined or scientific imagination For example the minister told a man who was suffering from functional paralysis to make a vivid picture of himself walking around his office touching the desk answering the phone and doing all the things he normally would do if he were healed. He lived the role and actually felt himself back in the office. One day after several weeks of frequent conditioning of the mind the phone rang and he got up and answered it. He was healed at that hour. The healing power of his subconscious mind responded to the mental visualization he had practiced for weeks.

We ask what is the enlightened way to deal with fear, criticism and mistakes? The enlightened way to deal with fear, criticism and mistakes is simply to accept it as a learning experience neither good nor bad but necessary for enriching the energy of the soul and spirit. There was a physician Franz Anton Messmer who discovered that by applying magnets to the diseased body he could cure the disease miraculously. He claimed his cures were due to animal magnetism theorizing that this substance was projected from the healer to the patient. His method of healing disease from then on was by hypnotism which was called mesmerism in his day. Other physicians said all his healings were due to suggestion and nothing else. Perhaps all spiritual healing is done that way.

This might be the benefits received at the hand of Jesus by disposing of fear, doubt and anxiety in the subconscious mind. In his words, “According to your faith be it unto you. You can see that Jesus was appealing to the cooperation of the subconscious mind. Their faith was their great expectation that their prayer would be answered and it was.

In all ages unofficial healers have obtained remarkable results in cases where authorized medical skills have failed. This gives cause for thought. The answer to all these healings is due to the blind belief of the sick person which releases the healing power resident in the subconscious mind. This state of mind facilitated by the suggestion of health was accepted by the conscious and subconscious of the sick

Sheryl says that as a Reiki Energy spiritual Healer she has worked with women who were unable to have children but after Reiki sessions have have children, broken bones healed faster than expected, emotional fears were banished and positivity returned people who were sexually abused as children to finally release pain anguish and fear and go on to have loving family lives without constant therapy which often just causes the person to be in the moment of anguish again and again. During a Reiki healing session, a person is in a relaxed state like a hypnotic state and able to feel their own soul energy so they can restore faith and know the power to self- heal is within them. It’s like miracles are happening both small and large.

James gives us a chart for companies to apply the tools used in the teachings in his book and shows how it would be different than an old school model and how do today’s management styles differ or should differ from how companies have been managed in the past?

Here’s how to distinguish between old and new management styles.

    Abundant Consciousness
    Scarcity Consciousness
    Centered in love
    Centered in fear
    Trusts everyone
    Distrusts most everyone
    It’s all about us
    It’s all about me
    Great place to work
    Just a job
    Purpose driven
    Ego driven
    Loyal to team
    Primary loyalty to self
    Learner: Lifelong learning
    Learned: already knows it all
    The glass is half full
    The glass is half empty
    Produces energy
    Produces exhaustion
    Inclusive of all
    Exclusive of most

Although Dr. Murphy’s writings that James has presented adding his own insights tools and ways to transform life to living with greater purpose and happiness if he had to accentuate one key lesson it would be discovering the incredible relationship between the conscious and subconscious areas of the mind: how to harness the incredible power of our own “self-talk.” There are not two different minds, but rather two spheres of our one mind. The conscious area is the part doing all the thinking. As you read these words, you are also talking to yourself about how you feel about what you are reading-along with what you are having for dinner tonight and multiple other talks. This is self-talk. Most people are unaware that we talk to ourselves all day long at a rate of 150 to 300 words a minute or over fifty thousand thoughts a day. And what most of us have not learned is that our self-talk becomes instructions to our subconscious, which acts like a servo-mechanism (control system) carrying out the instructions given to it by the conscious mind.

Therefore, James discusses that we also can become aware of “Distant healing or Absent Treatment” Suppose you learn that someone is sick in another state or place and not physically present. As a Reiki practitioner Sheryl knows that it is the Father within which doeth the work (John 14:10) In the mind principle there is no time or space. It is the mind that operates for healing no matter where the person is. In reality, there is no absent or distant treatment as opposed to present treatment for the universal mind is omnipresent. The treatment is a conscious movement of thought and as you become conscious of the qualities of health well -being relaxation these qualities will be resurrected in the experience of the person you are praying for and sending healing energy to and results will follow.

Sheryl as a Reiki Master Teacher uses Distant Healing on a daily basis and tells the story of a young woman 19 years old in California over twenty years ago who had a brain bleed. Sheryl received a phone call from her son who told her that his wife’s cousin was in critical condition in the hospital and it didn’t look good. Sheryl was asked by her son to do what it was she did, even though he didn’t understand it and if she could help, because it seemed hopeless at the time. Sheryl remembers sitting in a darkened bedroom in her house. It was New Year’s Eve and she immediately sent distant healing to the doctor’s facility family and the girl for a successful recovery and good quality of life to follow if that was in the girl’s soul’s journey. The girl survived and needed many months of rehab but every time Sheryl sees her in a family picture she is so happy to have been a small part of that miracle of healing.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have explored the early writings of Dr. Joseph Murphy whose book Expand the Power of Your Subconscious Mind offered a realistic look at the power of the mind for self- healing by concentrating thoughts on positive intentions and connecting to Universal Sources of eternal energy and wisdom. James shares these ideas and skills such as affirmation visualizations, meditation and leadership skills for conscious minded organizations to harness these tools for prosperity, health and a more joyful life experience.

James wrote, “ Always remember if you really want the power to heal, you can have it through faith, which means a knowledge of the working of your conscious and subconscious mind. Faith comes with understanding. Blind faith means that a person may get results without any scientific understanding of the powers and forces involved. Learn to pray for your loved ones who may be ill. Quiet your mind and your thoughts of health, vitality and perfection, operating through the one universal subjective mind, will be felt and resurrected in the mind of your loved ones.”

James and Sheryl would have you remember we are souls having a physical life and share the same energy of eternal life through our experiences and challenges may be different as we are each unique and finding the events, people and places that make our soul energy expand and refine with greater love and compassion. All is as it should be for each soul to create the situations and life they need in this time and place. Beyond here is quite a different reality.

Thank you Feroze for sharing the energy of your kind and loving soul with our listeners. For those who wish to listen to the last show Feroze and I shared go to my website www.sherylglick.com on the Radio page July 202O where we discussed A Spiritual Journey to Burma Buddhism and Freedom

As listeners of Healing From Within are well aware Sheryl and her sensitive and intuitive authors seek answers to age -old questions such as “Who are we?” “What is life all about?” And “Does anything survive physical death?” We seek to understand our dual nature as both physical and energetic beings and try to improve the quality of life as we help humanity evolve and create heaven on earth or pursue goodness, kindness, love , compassion and healing.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Feroze Dada who believes passionately that it is meditation that provides the foundation for a caring and compassionate future shares his story of spiritual awakening evolving and becoming a teacher in his book with tales from mythology, quotations from Rumi, and references to Sufi texts all adding color to the Wisdom Teachings he is receiving for not only awakening our latent potential to live our best lives but also to transform this world.

When Feroze is asked to think back to his childhood and remember a person place or event that may have shown him or others around them the lifestyle he might embrace as an adult he tells us about Rumi a Sufi mystic from the 13th century who tells of meeting his teacher in the market place and as he brushed by him felt a lighting bolt or storm ignited within him. Feroze was in search of his spiritual teacher when a similar event happened to him. As a successful financier a client came into his office and the energy between them was so invigorating that Feroze asked him how he maintained that state of being. The man told him he was a spiritual master teacher and when he was ready he would teach him but the time was not yet. Feroze began his meditation practice and eventually became an initiate of this man.

Feroze tells us how helping a Buddhist Monastery in Myanmar which supported over 1200 orphaned refugees affected what came next in his journey to self-discovery and fulfilling his spiritual needs. For the author Feroze Dada discovers the practical experience of helping a Buddhist monastery in Myanmar supporting over 1200 orphaned refugees from the war, commits him to an unfolding path towards self-discovery and understanding and one that will increasingly fulfil his spiritual needs. Through his work at the Healing Sanctuary we discover that as his awareness of the world of spirit grows, so too does his recognition of the power of Healing. He experiences a life-changing prophecy of severe illness by a spirit medium at the Healing Sanctuary.

Feroze writes, “Sitting in meditation at home on the morning of May 2, 2019 he was totally unprepared for an image given to him directly from Spirit. It was a clear 3 D image of a malignant tumor in his body. Purple and red with black malignant spots seeping through the top insidiously spreading through my flesh. Fear gripped his heart. It needed to be removed from his body and fast. He heard a whisper in his ear: “This is the truth. Act Follow this up now.” The intensity in the words struck hard against his heart…..He knew disease could show itself in patterns of light that people saw in Dhikr healing meditations……Later that day he met with an oncologist who reviewed the reports and recent blood tests and again confirmed that nothing needed to be done. Feroze pleaded for him to reconsider. On May 30th she called with results. Having reviewed these new tests and reports you need immediate surgery…….Despite the grime realization I felt a wave of relief for the validation of my intuition.”

There is increasing awareness in the media about the importance of the spiritual path especially as the world seems to be descending quickly and further into a dismal state of immorality and suffering. Some ways individuals may enhance their own spiritual progress….Through pilgrimage: retreats: connecting with nature, chanting: sacred states.

A Disciple describes a singular journey with a universal appeal, on the path of Perennial Wisdom. There are lessons for us all as we recognize the call from our inner spirit, our yearning for ‘something other’ in a materialistic world that so often leaves us dissatisfied. In particular in these unsettling and changing times there is a rapidly increasing hunger for wisdom about the unity of all things and how to live the best life possible. In being open to the world of Spirit and the true joy of discovering that much is possible if you allow it to be. Learning to understand the Universal Laws of Energy and using them brings about a transformation for that person that also affects all events around that person. In these times we need to be nourished by the possibilities of growing in inner and outer health and having the tools for living a balanced life. There are lessons for us all as we recognize the call within our inner spirit, our yearning for something other in a materialistic world that so often leaves us dissatisfied. There is another way to live and to ask questions about faith and spirituality that can connect us with the power of meditation.

Feroze. suggests the best way to learn is through finding a Teacher and connecting with a story-teller. This is teaching by example. Feroze tells us some of the teachers and stories in his book A Disciple. There are many teachers both in Spirit and here on Earth who work with disciples or students as they grow in awareness and greater compassion for life and love.

In his book A Disciple Feroze describes a rich and evocative journey taking the reader for example from Mother Mary’s house in Ephesus, with St. Francis of Assisi to the Pyramids at Giza and on to a monastery in Myanmar.

Feroze writes, “Sitting in front of the Catholic shrine in the house of the Virgin Mary on Mount Koressos near Ephesus, in Turkey in March 2018 I felt my sense of self fall away. Invisible hands pulled me into a warm embrace and a pervading serenity \flooded my body. “Mother Mary” I whispered in awe. My body and mind were on fire and I knew I’d never felt more alive or connected to everyone and everything around me. I didn’t doubt I was in the presence of the mother of Jesus. In this simple stone house where she lived and died 2000 years ago, Mother Mary was here by my side helping me to listen to, and begin to understand the voice of my soul. Softly my awakened awareness touched on the true nature of things and I knew then and there the purpose that had brought me to the shrine.

Birth from a hand’s loving touch. Birth from a song, from a dance, breathing life into the worlds. The body is like Mary’s and each of us, each of us has a Christ within. Rumi

Sheryl tells of a time about 20 years ago when at her office there was an employee who was causing much distress by her troublesome behavior and one day there was a horrible fight between her and several other workers. The air in the office was heavy and toxic and hard for Sheryl to breathe. Sheryl went into her office crying, closed the door, turned on soothing music and began to meditate…soon she felt the presence at my right side of Mother Mary with her blue scarf over her head and what Mother Mary expressed in thought form was, “ I am so sorry for your suffering and it will be taken out of your hands.” Sheryl had tried to talk to the people involved but to no avail. It took awhile longer but finally that person left the building and peace for all was restored.

Feroze tells us of his Master Teacher Ustad whose smiling face was a serene canvas of love and compassion. He was the man who had brought Feroze to this temple and had started him on his soul-seeking journey of discovery eight years earlier in 2010. He was a client of mine at my London tax accounting practice. At that time Feroze defined himself through business and material success. His children had graduated university and were doing well. On the surface there was nothing lacking in his life, but for a while, Feroze had become aware that something intrinsic to happiness was missing. Much later, he came to realize that this existential yearning was evidence of a nature present in all sentient beings that calls us to freedom if only we can recognize it. Feroze remembered the first time he met Ustad when he walked into his office. He was tall, fit and strong in his mid-sixties and exuded a vibrant energy. He was quick thinking with a good sense of humor. There was a calmness and inner peace about him as if he was lit up from the inside out. Every time they met, he left Feroze energized, positive peaceful and focused—feelings that would last for days. In his company Feroze became aware of the potential of who he was nudging him to remember- a forgotten part of himself.

Feroze wasn’t surprised when one day he revealed he was a spiritual teacher trained in the Sufi tradition. Feroze wasn’t a religious man though born into an Islamic family and only visited the mosque at his father’s request once or twice a year. The trappings and dogma of religion didn’t make much sense to Feroze. But inside he’d always harbored a belief in something bigger, that each man and woman had a purpose in the greater scheme of things even though he had not yet discovered his own.

Feroze asked Ustad to take him on as a student but he declined saying “Answers lie inside ourselves, not outside,” then he introduced me to the practice of meditation. To listen to his thoughts and discover who he was.

Feroze realized that before one embarks on the spiritual path, we need to work on ourselves. Remove any moral imperfections such as meanness, jealousy, anger, greed, hatred, fear and pride as they are obstacles to moving forward. No one is perfect but we need to make efforts to improve as a human being. Consciously working towards improving our moral code, being aware of our faults—tirelessly working to reduce these.

Finally Ustad was ready to take Feroze on as a student. Little did Feroze know that his life was going to be turned upside down forever. All he hoped for was that Ustad would help him discover the essence of his being, and awaken him to the divinity of his soul. Ustad told him “You cannot know the truth by reading, studying, lecturing, and thinking. Close those doors. Only in stillness, the doors of your heart will begin to open.”

Ustad offers to guide and help Feroze but insists he look inside to discover your path through your own experience. He also warned there would be trials and tribulations ahead, hurdles to endure and overcome.

Buddhism, Sufism Christianity and Spiritual Healing are all woven into this intimate story of transformation—how the beauty of oneness exists at the heart of all faiths and beliefs and is available to us all. Tell us more of this wonderful observation.

The stories of the wisdom teaching and tales from mythology quotations from Rumi and references to all Sufi texts is that” The wise ones spoke in parables and metaphor because that is the form that penetrates and transcends our defenses, We go to some deeper part of ourselves: non-linear and non -cerebral which is what meditation is.”

In all these spiritual practices of Buddhism, Sufism Christianity and Spiritual healing the goal is awareness and higher consciousness through allowing accepting and surrendering to all changes to what is, without judgement, fear or regret. Ustad described surrendering as spiritual pragmatism”, “To accept whatever comes our way is best. With acceptance comes action and with action comes outcome. First, embrace the difficulty and then surrender to the outcome. If you need to die, accept this. If you need to be imprisoned, accept this. Human beings cause most of their problems because they can’t surrender to the outcome of a difficult situation. The secret is to embrace and surrender to the difficulty or challenge. This is where all the spiritual growth is waiting for you.

Feroze remembers the words of Rumi in his poem “The Guest House”

This being human is a guest house
    Every morning a new arrival.
    A joy, a depression, a meanness
    Some momentary awareness comes
    As an unexpected visitor
    Welcome and entertain them all
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows
    who violently sweep your house
    empty of it’s furniture.
    Still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
    for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
Meet them at the door laughing and invite them in
Because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.

Tales from mythology, quotations from Rumi and Sufi texts all add color to the Wisdom Teachings experience and are passed on to us. Feroze tells us more of these Wisdom Teachings.

The Ageless Wisdom teachings are an ancient body of spiritual knowledge emphasizing a holistic approach to living life and to bring us into presence and full alignment to Universal Source or Self and know our true being or eternal nature of life. The Wisdom Way of Knowing draws from many sources including luminaries, visionaries, prophets, and teachers past and present. Wisdom is more than what the eye can see and understand. Wisdom means to be open-minded, to be objective, to see all points of view. Wisdom requires us to exercise courage, patience, flexibility and intelligence.

He goes on to tell the story of a fight between 2 villagers. And one of them beat the weaker one until he was bloodied and injured and needed expensive medical treatment. The police got involved because a monetary solution had to be found by the courts if not resolved by the parties involved.

A head Monk was asked to mediate. After reflecting on the matter, the monk realized that each party wanted a different outcome. He suggested the perpetrator pay the person’s medical costs and genuinely ask for forgiveness. Accepting the solution, he wholeheartedly apologize.

The insight wisdom here was to understand that one-person valued money—the perpetrator and the injured party who had been humiliated valued his respect and honor in the community. And in this ruling, both got what they desired, because justice had been done with dignity, and they went on to become best friends.

Like Feroze when Sheryl began the spiritual journey to self-awareness and higher consciousness over 25 years ago. Sheryl wasn’t sure of an afterlife or past lives but knew there was something bigger and more eternal than anything she could find in this life and wanted proof. As a medium Sheryl retrieved messages from Spirit: soul energy teachers, guides, angels, Source the proof is abundant now. Ustad tells Feroze something of a past life connection to him which simply felt right to him.

“Ustad says he has a gift for Feroze as they left Mother Mary’s house for the last time before flying home. Something I wanted to give you for a while now. He took Feroze’s hand and looked into his eyes and Feroze felt the same feeling or reassuring recognition he had the first time he met him. Ustad went on to say, “It’s a nugget of knowledge to help you find your way home. He took a slight intake of breath before saying, “You’re my brother. My older brother from another lifetime continuing to say, “We lived at the same time as Prophet Muhammad the founder of Islam in the seventh century in Arabia. It’s no coincidence we found each other in this life. It was destined. I’m here to help you on your path. Feroze felt more alive and more awake and thought to himself Brothers in another lifetime…He knew nothing about reincarnation but had a strange feeling of recognition when they first met. It was illogical and irrational….and yet made perfect sense. Feroze didn’t need scientific proof to feel the truth of Ustad’s words in his heart. That we were soul brothers, connected through time and space. Now open to new experiences Feroze was able to have new ways of thinking and accept what in the past would have been dismissed with a laugh.

So much can be learned from our loved ones in Spirit and since Sheryl is a medium she can do a reading with a soul in or out of a body. Recently she did a reading with her sister who had passed 7 years ago as she sensed her sister one night standing next to her in her bedroom and thought she wanted to talk to me in order to help her daughters understand their mother and father in a new light and to know they were always loved by their mother.

Sheryl says that in a recent reading with her sister her sister began the reading with this message “Like paper cut children from all nations in a circle going around and around like the Merry-go- Round of our childhood—It is a small world after all. We are all connected and united and the Color of Love and Life is Marvelous both here in Spirit and on Earth.

My sister was not sure something of herself would survive physical death, but Sheryl before she passed said to her “It is not over you are in for an exciting journey ahead”

Seems her messages in the reading supports that awareness of higher consciousness

The last message in the reading which always in Sheryl’s readings relates to the first message said, “ In life I took some hits to my self-esteem but now I have accepted that as a necessary part of my growth and have no more regrets. So you could say, “Healing is the gift of eternal life.”

Feroze tells us something of your trip to Myanmar and in connection with the monk he met there. Feroze tells us that his life changed drastically from his initiation with his master and brother Ustad on the eve of his first trip to Myanmar. He had flown to Myanmar to get to know his wife MuMu’s extended family in a predominantly Buddhist country. Feroze was Muslim married to a Burmese and wished to know more of life in her homeland. They landed in Taunggyi, the capital of Shan State in the northeast of the country. It wasn’t far to the breathtaking Inle Lake. The second largest natural lake in Myanmar is 12 miles long by six miles wide and cradled between two towering mountain ranges. He was told the lake would change his life by a cousin who was a clairvoyant. Then he met Phongyi (Burmese for monk) who radiated a powerful aura and was magnetic . Welcome to Phaya Taung monastery he smiled as he pressed the palms of his hands together in front of his chest in the customary and modest Buddhist way calle Anjali Mudra. Little did Feroze know that this man would be central to his onward journey.

All Feroze knew was it was thanks to Phongyi’s loving action twenty hears earlier adopted as an orphan and educated with a Buddhist upbringing that led to the birth of this inspiring monastery that now educated 1200 abandoned children victims of the wars between rival ethnic groups. Despite the evident poverty and hardship of daily life, the monastery was lit with smiling children and alive to the joyful laughter of the monks and children. This inspired Feroze who vowed to help the monastery become self-sustaining and over the next five years returned 12 times accompanied by his wife MuMu and established a computer training school and a mineral water factory to provide clean drinking water for the children and also to provide income to buy food.

Feroze tells us his definition of meditation and the benefits to personal growth. Feroze wrote, “Meditation is a technique to master the breath to calm the mind and free itself of thoughts. Anapana, Phongvi explained. Ana means respiration, and pana, purification of the mind. He took a deep breath in and out through his nose to demonstrate. The technique is to focus on the in and out sensation. It takes us to the place of emptiness and refuge, calmness of the mind. The real benefit arises when we are consistent.

In Vipassana meditation you can notice the sensation of breath throughout your body as you breathe in and out. You can scan every part of your body as you breathe from head to toe one part at a time. You can notice the different sensations: pleasant, neutral, unpleasant or pain. You can observe them in an objective way without favoring equanimity, almost like a bystander. You can scan your body up and down, in rhythm with your breath, in and out not stopping and keeping the breath moving. Mediations with your mentors and teachers are often beyond belief, powerful and rewarding.

Feroze tells us of another place he visited in search of spiritual connection and what he found there. The day before Feroze was to meet the bishop he went to the Franciscan Sanctuary in La Verna Tuscan Apennines in Arezzo as he had many times over the past fifteen years. It was a place where he felt a connection with St. Frances of Assisi while he meditated. Perched at a height of 1300 meters, the sanctuary sits in a verdant forest with breath-taking views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Over the years Feroze had meditated in the caves and chapels often wondering what it would have been like over 800 years ago when St. Francis lived there. Feroze and his wife had bought an apartment in San Giustino Valdarno and my meeting with the bishop was at the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore which dated back to the 11th century. It was at one time Assis’s cathedral. The impressive Gothic Romanesque bell tower was added in the 14th century. This is where St Frances had stood 800 years ago. The bishop said, Saints and prophets who have passed on have ways of being in our lives. The route to spiritual connection is openness and meditation but it is only through the grace of God that we make such a link. It was in this special place eight centuries ago that a young Francis dramatically stripped himself of everything to show he was totally for God and his fellow man. We remember this gesture as Francis’s renunciation. Feroze was grateful and humbled to be standing in a room where 800 years ago a profound commitment to a life of service had taken place.

Sheryl says she is moved to tears to read that in her book The Living Spirit she writes, I had been doing a reading for one of the members of my unfolding group meeting when suddenly sensed Jesus next to me. He was crying and I found myself choking back tears as well. “I have cried for many ills done by unknowing souls,’ Jesus said, “just as you and your group members also cry for the injustice and insensitivity of many.”….His words to me brought a feeling to my heart that to this day is hard to describe. It was incredible to think that he would visit a simple Reiki teacher and her group, reminding everyone present of the loving messages he had delivered during his earthly life so very long ago. It was as if Jesus wanted us to know that he and other emissaries of the unseen world work by our side for the continued advancement of humanity. They impress upon all of us that self-love and love for others will always be the goal for a soul experiencing a physical and energetic life. To strive for personal excellence without hypocrisy in thought, word, and action was the message from Jesus two thousand years ago and it is still the message of Spirit. “

Feroze might like readers of The Disciple to take away with them after reading his most insightful story of transformation and grace to remember “By repeating God’s name with our breath into the spiritual heart of the soul, we awaken the Divine spark that is within all of us. The in-breath takes us to our soul and the outbreath to the world of form. In this way we align the energy of life with our Creator and can express it in the outside worldly life,” elaborated Ustad. For humans, the most exalted state of love is ecstasy, the union with the Beloved. It is a means of discovering the truth in oneself. A mystical intuitive knowledge is reached through these ecstatic experiences. Visions lights dreams are all these gifts from the Divine.

Recall Rumi’s words. To go beyond: not dwell in this drunkenness. Love is not just the intoxication with our Creator. True love is the pain of yearning for the Beloved!

We thank Feroze Dada author of The Disciple for a most illuminating story of one man’s mysterious journey throughout ancient sites across the world in search of truth and a closer connection to important spiritual leaders and teachers like Jesus Mother Mary St Frances monks and people who radiate the divine spark of eternal light and love into each day’s joyful acceptance of their soul being. In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have journeyed through the many places of beauty of peace or remarkable connection to the Divine and the Creator and to people Feroze Dada has been privileged and delighted to encounter for his search is “Our Search” and the soul once awakened knows that we are Children of the heart and have the power within to create purposeful lives of joy fulfilment and prosperity as we connect to each other and to forces beyond the physical that include a love of life so we may move past the distractions of the physical world and remember the magnificence of a spiritual being having a physical life in order to refine our soul energy and grow closer to the perfection of higher life. Feroze’s and Sheryl’s journey of faith and trust in the unseen, the unknown has led to wisdom and truth as it does for all who seek answers to age old questions. Whether it is in the language and scriptures of Sufism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity or Islam there is One path that encompasses all religions cultures traditions and customs. A truth that says our Creator is perfect and human beings are imperfectly perfect. And we are all here to master the art of spiritual love. And we can be grateful that Spirit brings us together with so many wonderful teachers along the way from birth to eternal life.

  • Why the National Popular Vote Would Undermine Democracy: Save the Electoral College

Welcome to Healing From Within. I am your host Sheryl Glick, author of A New Life Awaits, the final book in a trilogy that shares the thought that our challenges are not economic, political or societal, but a disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom. Today Sheryl welcomes Professor Robert M. Hardaway author of Saving the Electoral College. Professor Hardaway is a professor of law at the University of Denver Stum College of Law where he teaches evidence and civil procedure and election law.

Robert as listeners of Healing From Within are well aware Sheryl and her esteemed guests explore all aspects of the human condition in order to discover more about living a more authentic and productive physical life journey while exploring our human and divine capacity to grow in wisdom and love for Self others and life, hopefully, with honesty and integrity as the law provides for.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Robert M. Hardaway discusses the case for the continuation of the Electoral College explaining how the Electoral college actually works, how it is supposed to work and how it might be formed. He first looks at the Constitutional Convention, the Twelfth Amendment and historical elections where the Electoral College has come into play. Perhaps we can understand the 2016 election which caused many pundits and citizens alike to decry the Electoral College and the 2020 Election and problems leading to a huge Rally in D C when congress tried to determine how to certify the Electoral Votes from states that had questionable voting practices

When Robert is asked to think back to his childhood and remember a person place or event that might have signaled to or those around the values interests and lifestyle he might embrace as an adult for Sheryl feels our destiny or life plan is with us at the beginning and we search to know our inner awareness through the experiences people and projects that we select that often most advances our soul development and the reasons we chose a physical life.

Robert immediately tells us his father had a profound effect on all that he values as he was a man of patience, virtue and kindness and lived to be 104 years old. He had a miraculous life journey and was blessed to see his son accomplish much to protect the law.

Robert goes on to tell us that he first became interested in the Electoral College as a high school student at St. Albans School in Washington, D.C. Every Thursday evening we would meet in government class in which students would engage in mock congressional debate on an issue of national interest, proposing bills, arguing for or against them, and then voting. One of the bills proposed was to “abolish the Electoral College.” I remember well one classmate of mine in that class by the name of Al Gore. Of course, none of us at that time knew the enormity that this issue would play in the future career of our classmate when he became a candidate for president in the 2000 election.

This government class debate was in large part a reenactment of a real life debate held just a few years before in the U.S. Senate in March 1956. As documented in the Congressional Record, 3 a cadre of U.S. senators, led in part by Republican senator Everett Dirksen, had taken it upon themselves to initiate demands that since 1789 have now become a bidecade ritual—namely, to “abolish” the Electoral College. These bidecade rituals inevitably involve attacks on the Founding Fathers’ plan for presidential elections and the ratification of that plan by the 13 original colonies. At issue in the Senate debates of 1956 was Joint Resolution 31, which proposed a rewriting of major portions of the U.S. Constitution in order to impose upon the American people a so-called direct election scheme.

Professor Hardaway goes on to write, “Virtually alone against this cabal of senators was a young senator, John F. Kennedy, who in the manner of Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington gave a speech in the U.S. Senate that now serves as one of the most valiant and dramatic cases for saving the Electoral College that has ever been made in U.S. history. To one senator’s tired claim that the Electoral College is somehow “undemocratic,” Kennedy firmly responded that while direct election “purports to be more democratic, [it] would in fact increase the power and encourage splinter parties,” with the result that presidents would be elected with only a small percentage of the popular vote. History has shown Kennedy’s concerns to be only too prescient. “

The facts of the matter are that the system of [direct election] will greatly increase the likelihood of a minority president. . . . [It] would break down the federal system under which most states entered the union, which provides a system of checks and balances to insure that no area or group shall obtain too much power. — Senator John F. Kennedy

Professor Hardaway goes on to tell us what he feels the Founding Fathers had in mind by establishing that precedent.

The confusion or misunderstandings about the Electoral College began at the beginning of our nation’s founding. One of the first proposals to abolish the Electoral College came in the final hot days of the 1787 Constitutional Convention itself. The bedraggled, tired, and very hot delegates had left to the end of the deliberations the contentious question of how states would be represented in any proposed national legislature. Small states feared that delegates from such large states as New York and Pennsylvania would try to bully them into giving up the right of equal representation in the Senate that they had enjoyed under the Articles of Confederation. Rhode Island refused to send any delegates at all, and tiny Delaware only sent delegates with letters making it clear that they were to walk out and form their own country the moment any big-state bullies suggested that they give up their right to equal representation in any new proposed legislature or in the election of a president.

By this time, it was generally conceded that there was very little hope of uniting all the 13 colonies into one cohesive union. Even an exasperated George Washington, who had only reluctantly agreed to moderate the convention in the first place, thought there was little chance of forming a single united country and a cohesive union and “despaired of seeing a favorable issue to the proceedings of the convention and do therefore repent having had any agency in this business.”

The larger states had already hedged their bets and formed their own amalgamations or incipient nations and even imposed tariffs and customs barriers and boundaries on their neighboring states. The smaller states were also contemplating going their own way and thus were not inclined to be marginalized in a union dominated by arrogant big-state bullies. In this contentious environment, small-state delegates such as Gunning Bedford were announcing that they would instead form their confederations and amalgamations with foreign powers and “find some ally of better honor and good faith who will take them by the hand and do them justice.” Much to the glee of King George III, the 13 colonies were breaking apart, leading the royal adviser to advise his king that the desperate former colonists would very soon “openly concert measures for entering into something like their former connections to Great Britain.” As delegate Luther Martin later recalled

This government is not completely consolidated, nor is it entirely Federal. . . . Who are the parties to it? The people—not the people as comprising one great body, but the people as composing 13 sovereignties. —James Madison

2016 election caused many pundits and citizens alike to decry the Electoral College. This book explains the dangerous and unconstitutional implications of the National Popular Vote Bill which is quietly passing in statehouses across the nation.

History has shown Kennedy’s concerns to be only too prescient. One might ask the exasperated voters of France, who in their 2017 direct election were told to select from a field of 11 candidates. Without the “channeling” effects of an Electoral College, the 2 established major party candidates were nudged out of the ensuing runoff by less than 2 percent of the vote, with the results that voters were faced with a choice between an extreme right-wing candidate who received less than 21 percent of the vote and an unknown maverick who received only 23 percent of the vote.

Since in a runoff one candidate must by predetermined contrivance receive a majority, this is what passed as democracy despite the fact that both candidates were opposed by almost two-thirds of the electorate. In the runoff, over 600,000 voters expressed their outrage with this poor imitation of democracy by casting a ballot blanc—the blank ballot.

To unsubstantiated claims that because of our two-party system similar affronts to democracy could not exist in America under a French- or Russian-style direct election—that is, an election in which voters must vote directly for a candidate from a list of candidates representing a number of different parties, followed by a runoff—Kennedy understood and explained that similar affronts to democracy certainly could indeed occur in the absence of the channeling effects of the Electoral College. This is because it is the Electoral College itself that ensures the stability of a two-party system in which a true majority or substantial plurality is required to elect a president. As he explained, “the facts of the matter are that a system [of direct election] will greatly increase the likelihood of a minority president.”

Problems were reflected in France which came within a whisker of electing a hard right-wing candidate opposed by 80 percent of the electorate. As it was, the “unknown” maverick candidate who won with only 23 percent of the vote in the first-stage election was the subject of violent countrywide demonstrations in 2018.

Professor Hardaway suggests that the National Popular vote movement which seeks to abolish the Electoral College by making readers aware of its agenda financing and goal of effectively amending the constitutional process by a means that takes place under the radar of the general public.

Today we have an electoral vote system which gives both large states and small states certain advantages that offset each other. Now it is proposed that we change all this. What the effects of these various changes will be on the Federal system, the two part system, and the large-state–small-state checks and balances system, no one knows. Nevertheless, it is proposed we change the system—for an unknown, untried, but obviously precarious system which was long ago abandoned in this country, which previous Congresses have rejected, and which has been thoroughly discredited in Europe. . . . Why should we be in such a hurry to adopt a drastic constitutional amendment which most of the voters do not know we are considering? The benefits which [the supporters of direct election] claim are at best speculative. There is obviously little to gain—but much to lose by tampering with the constitution.

Sheryl says that the public has now become aware that many bills are passed by congress without revealing much of the content to the legislators and definitely not to the public. In that way the small group of leaders in DC holds a monopoly of power and no one has the ability to question what’s happening. Obamacare was thousands of pages long and legislators were told to just pass it and we know the friction that has gone on around that legislation.

There have been other contested elections like the one we are now seeing in 2020. Every four or five presidential elections, the popular vote margin has been close enough to trigger recounts in at least one state and in many cases numerous states. The 1960 election provides perhaps the most illustrative example of what could happen in any of these close elections had a Russian-style national popular vote election system been in effect. According to the Congressional Quarterly, Richard Nixon won the national popular vote in that election by less than two-tenths of 1 percent. Fortunately for the nation and the stability of the U.S. government at a time of grave threat of international thermonuclear war, the very tricky question of who won the popular vote did not throw the country into a constitutional crisis. An election that could have resulted in interminable recounts, exhaustive litigation and appeals in courts of every state, and uncertainty as to which person would have his finger on the nuclear button did not do so. Instead, it resulted in a certain and clear cut decision: Kennedy was proclaimed and accepted as the undisputed winner of the election by virtue of his decisive 303–219 in the Electoral College. There were no post election riots in the streets, no violent protests that Kennedy was not the legitimate winner, no foreign attempts to take advantage of internal civil unrest in the United States, and no appeals to the United Nations,

Sheryl asks, Might legislation or state legislation make changes to the campaign process which is highly expensive, long and insightful to the public causing much division?

Robert writes, “The bulk of campaign funds now go toward the most despised of all types of political advertising, namely television, the bulk of which are either negative in nature, distort opponents’ actual views, or take them out of context. Certainly, very little in the way of constructive or useful knowledge is to be gained by such irritating commercials especially in ignored states, where the NPVIC theory suggests that voters have presumably made up their minds and will not be converted by yet more irritating or fatuous commercials. It is no wonder that candidates who spend the most on commercials are often the losers in elections.

It is also true that such commercials can play an important part in the early phases of the election process, particularly in primaries where name recognition can be key. It is fair to say, however, that by the time the two major parties have selected their candidate, name recognition is not the problem. While voters in ignored states may not have the same opportunity to attend live campaign events in which a candidate appears in the flesh to give a stump speech, such events can only be attended by a very small percentage of a state’s population, and the lack of such opportunity to attend such an event may be a small price to pay for not having to endure the barrage of commercials, unsolicited calls, and endless junk e-mails asking for contributions.

It might also be noted that in other democratic countries such as Great Britain, the campaign season and opportunity for barraging the public with mindless commercials is far more limited, and the voters there do not seem to feel deprived.”

Sheryl feels we are too invested in politics and the money spent could be better used to end much of the nation’s and world suffering. The political process now invested in every corporate pharmaceutical company, Big Tech MSM is causing great distress to everyday life and friction between families, friends and co-workers. People harassing others for their political choices has become the outcome of these excesses and must be reevaluated so we can find harmony and balance once again. Most people are not that invested in political parties but for those who are there is much physical, emotional and spiritual damage being done to them.

This movement is succeeding in state after state precisely because the public is uninformed about the Electoral college. The tactic of forming a cabal of states to circumvent the constitutional amendment process has the perceived advantage of avoiding the public scrutiny that would inevitably accompany any constitutional amendment process that would require a vote of two-thirds of Congress and at least three-quarters of the states. No doubt the supporters of the NPVIC are aware that whenever proposals for direct election have been proposed in Congress, the intense scrutiny that such proposals inevitably attract have always resulted in outright rejection of such schemes. A cabal of selected states, on the other hand, was thought by its supporters to require only the adoption of the NPVIC by the legislatures of as few as 11 large states representing 270 electoral votes. It thus has had the added perceived advantage of bypassing Congress entirely. Hearings in state legislatures, on the other hand, are often if not usually conducted under the public radar. Confirmation of this can be easily tested by asking a random person on the street if he or she has ever even heard of the NPVIC. The response is very likely to be one of puzzlement. Lobbyists for the NPVIC, primarily supported by financial interests in California, rarely if ever miss an opportunity to appear at isolated and little-publicized legislative hearings in an effort to induce it to join the NPVIC cabal. Those who might believe that such a cabal could never be successful in undermining the entire structure for presidential elections should be aware that as of 2012, state legislators representing very close to half of the 270 electoral votes necessary to elect a president have become signatories to the NPVIC. However, on those relatively rare occasions when state legislative hearings on the NPVIC have come to the attention of concerned citizens or constitutional scholars, the NPVIC can be and has been roundly rejected as a threat to both federalism and democracy.

The abolition of the Electoral College and inauguration of a national popular vote would actually result in an outcome that is contrary to the goals of its many supporters. Professor Hardaway wrote, “In 1994, Praeger (now a part of ABC-CLIO) published my first book on this topic, The Electoral College and the Constitution: The Case for Preserving Federalism. At that time, the chief threat to preserving the federalist structure of the U.S. Constitution came in the form of congressional hearings seeking to abolish by amendment the federalist structure for presidential elections as enshrined in Articles I and II of the U.S. Constitution. Most notable of these were the 1956 hearings and later the 1969 and 1979 Birch Bayh Senate hearings on a constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College in favor of direct election. Emboldened by the claims of pollsters that an overwhelming majority of Americans supported abolishing the Electoral College, these hearings—after exhaustive testimony by constitutional scholars—ultimately rejected any such proposed amendments after its members came to understand how such an amendment would undermine not only the federalist structure of the Constitution but also democracy itself. For many of those not acquainted with the Founding Fathers’ federalist and democratic vision of the United States of America, however, the seductive sound and siren of a Russian-style national popular vote election continues to loom large

Professor Hardaway tells us why you feel it is imperative to keep the Electoral College and what can be done to achieve that. Over centuries new technology and larger populations and challenges to the voting practice have come about.

Professor Hardaway writes, “Nor is the absentee ballot the only means by which politicians have raised the convenience factor above considerations of voting integrity. New provisional ballot laws allow people to vote provisionally despite appearing at a voting booth on election day without registration, valid identification, proof of address, or any other indicia of eligibility to vote. But aside from encouraging illegal voting and fraud, the greatest danger posed by such laws is that the decision to count such votes is determined after the election by adversarial representatives of each political party. Such scenarios inevitably lead to interminable lawsuits and litigation. The result is an election decided not by voters but instead by lawyers and judges. Candidates dare not concede an election and let the nation return to normal life as long as provisional ballots are still to be counted, analyzed, and litigated. Candidates who dare to go ahead and concede an election before the interminable process of litigating provisional ballots is completed are lambasted for displaying a callous disregard of the provisional vote and consigning such votes to the dustbin of second-class votes. “ Victory in the Electoral College requires broad support across all major regions and many states, which should be considered as being even more reflective of a mandate since it reflects more than simply receiving concentrated support in one particular region or in a handful of states. In this regard, it has been observed that but for the overwhelming popular vote margin for Clinton in six California counties, Donald Trump would have won the national popular vote. Third and finally, most Americans are aware that presidential candidates campaign based on the allocation of electoral votes that the Constitution provides. In 2016, lucky New Yorkers and Californians were spared the misery of enduring fatuous campaign television ads because Trump did not waste his time campaigning in states where he knew he could not win. Under a Russian-style election he would surely have concentrated his efforts in high-population areas such as New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles because that’s where the votes are. Instead, he campaigned in the heartland across regions and states where he felt he had a chance and could win—a strategy that resulted in winning the election.

Professor Hardaway would like readers to take away with them after reading Save the Electoral Colle to Save Democracy that in 1978 the Twentieth Century Fund enlisted the contributions of a distinguished panel of Americans to study the Electoral College and make recommendations. Members of the task force included historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jeane Kirkpatrick (later to be the U.S. representative at the United Nations), and other distinguished historians, lawyers, journalists, political scientists, and educators. The final recommendation of that group was the bonus plan. Although the plan itself proved to be just another inconsequential and ultimately ignored hybrid, the Twentieth Century Fund study is nevertheless notable for having conducted the most in-depth study of the Electoral College system. Although the members of the task force represented no political constituency and thus had no federalist interest to protect, they nevertheless represented some of the brightest and most independent thinkers who could have been brought together. Although in the end their study made a recommendation of the bonus plan, the study stands as perhaps the most persuasive defense of the Electoral College system. The preface to the study states that the Electoral College has weathered great changes—demographic and technological as well as political—in the nature of presidential elections, and more than once in the nation’s history, has been challenged. Yet it has endured, in part because it stands for some important and cherished principles, in part because proposals for replacing it have threatened those principles. In explaining how it reached its final recommendations, the task force stated that initially it saw no way of reconciling what was apparently irreconcilable. Several members noted that the probable consequences, some necessarily unforeseen, of changing the system might amount to a cure that was worse than the disease.

We thank Robert M Hardaway for helping the ordinary layman to have a clearer understanding of the Electoral College which so many citizens do not and to understand the fine workings of our constitution and Bill of Rights to assure as our Founding Fathers intended that safeguards be available to protect the Electoral College.

In summarizing today’s episode Professor of Law Robert M. Hardaway has performed a most needed service towards educating the public about problems in Elections in the past so perhaps we can understand the present problems in the nation caused by the 2020 election which half the nation thinks was corrupted by local state representatives and a political party that used questionable ways to secure the vote due to a pandemic and fears that people could not show up at the voting polls. It is thought that the millions of unsolicited ballots sent out caused a shift in how the election turned out and that might have influenced the Electoral College. There also were many interferences by interested parties for an outcome they wanted including Big Tech MSM monied interests and foreign entities. It may have been for many in the nation seen as an unfair and contentious electoral process due to the great division in the nation. Americans have been spoiled by over 200 years of peaceful elections in which almost all cases have produced an immediate, clear-cut, and undisputed presidential winner even in such razor-thin elections as the 1960 election. Two exceptions generally prove the rule: the elections of 1876 and 2000. And now the election of 2020.

The election of 1876, a favorite topic of political history journals, has been variously described as “the worse. NPVIC advocates have even tried to include it on a list of “wrong winner” elections in which the popular vote winner was not the same as the electoral vote winner. In fact, this election was one that would have been disputed regardless of the election system in place. It took place at a time when the nation was still recovering from the trauma of the American Civil War, and emotions and wounds in both the North and the South still ran deep. By all accounts, the conduct of both political parties was shameful and inexcusable. In elections in which intimidation, fraud, corruption, and bribery are endemic, no system of election can provide a certain and undisputed outcome.

Even so, Hayes was obliged without fanfare to sneak into the White House through the backdoor on March 3, 1877, and take the oath of office in a private ceremony. As unsatisfactory as the outcome was, some small comfort may be found in the fact that compared to the state of the nation just a few years before in which over half a million Americans were being slaughtered en masse, the disputed election of 1876 can count not a single killing in the course of its final resolution. Nevertheless, NPVIC proponents continue to cite the 1876 election as an example of the election of the wrong president by comparing the electoral vote to an invalid and much-disputed popular vote. We begin to see throughout the course of our history there have been problems between political parties’ ideology and National Elections. To those in 2020 who think this is the first time contention and conflict have affected our citizens that is not so.

Robert and I would hope during these challenging times in our nation’s evolution we would have you remember we are all Americans and the dream of our Founding Fathers was to live in peace, prosperity and eventually equality for all. Their intentions were extremely ambitious for those times and still are even for now, but they are in the best interests of our continuing Constitutional Democratic Republic Remember how far we have come and how far we still have to go.

  • Meaning Can Exist Within our Worst Tragedies

Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Energy Teacher and author of the last book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits: Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening. Today I welcome Malcolm Stern, author of Slay Your Dragons with Compassion, a psychotherapist, author and co-founder of Alternatives, a spiritual group at St James Church In London. Malcolm may help us see that there is meaning and personal growth and love that can exist even in the worst tragedy.

Malcolm as listeners of Healing From Within have come to expect my guests and I share intimate insightful experiences in the hope that we may all come to understand our duality or the human and energetic or spiritual essence of life. With a clearer understanding of who we are and where we come from, we are able to begin to make better choices thereby creating more compassionate successful life experiences and discovering once again that we truly are magnificent souls with the capacity to love self and life.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Malcolm Stern shares every parent’s worst nightmare when his daughter Melissa committed suicide in 2014 and his grief made him challenge every aspect of his work and life. In his book he offers ten ways to thrive even when it seems impossible. An important book showing ways to face your greatest fears and hidden sadness and to find ways past it all to regain balance, harmony love and acceptance.

When Malcolm is asked to think back to their childhood and remember a person place or event that may have signaled to them or to those around them the life interests work or values they might embrace as an adult for Sheryl senses that within the heart and mind of the child is a quest for life that has already been imprinted on their souls Malcolm tells us that as a child he wanted to be a doctor and heal people. A sensitive child and empathic he longed to serve and help others past the traumas of a physical life and became a psychotherapist and spiritual healer.

Malcolm also tells us something of his sister Beverly who had a nervous breakdown at the age of eighteen and had been a promising actress gaining the part of Brigitte in the Sound of Music on the West End Stage in London. One night she began hallucinating and yelling that the taxi drivers were coming to burn down the house. Her condition worsened and she was diagnosed as schizophrenic and was given over fifty- five electric shock therapies over the next few years. Her kidneys were damaged by her medication and she never regained her center. Malcolm was terrified by anyone who exhibited similar signals-a fear he has explored in depth in his own personal therapy learning it is hard for us to see the profundity of another’s pain when they are so close to us.

In describing his daughter’s illness he writes, “With hindsight, it’s easy to see that there was a point at which she was swerving between highs and lows, agonizing about life while at the same time travelling all over the country, partying, socializing and working. The stillness that is part of a healthy psyche was absent. She was all movement. Melissa had lost hold of her internal compass and extreme pieces of behavior emerged.

Sheryl says whatever the diagnosis: Bi- polar disorder schizophrenia depression or what Sheryl’s own younger sister had social psychological disorder it is all so hard for the families to understand much less deal with and often the person is dealing with several challenging illnesses . Sheryl thinks at times there is not a family that is free of a member who suffers the stresses of a physical, emotional or mental disorder that so powerfully affects their own lives and those around them. Perhaps in the scheme of soul life we all need to be surrounded by these experiences so we can develop greater patience and compassion which are higher Universal or spiritual soul goals.

Malcolm tells us something of working with Alternatives, a group and program at a church in London and the many spiritual leaders he is connected to.

Malcolm tells of the author Robert Heinlein’s groundbreaking science fiction book Stranger in a Strange Land the story of Valentine Michael Smith a human raised on Mars who visits Earth when he becomes an adult. He becomes a great lover by virtue of the fact that he is utterly present at all times. Eckhart Tolle the renowned spiritual teacher has made a living and a life out of the practice of presence. His book the Power of Now is deceptively simple in that it effectively tells us to be present and that is one of life’s great secrets. He also mentions others such as Deepak Chopra spiritual healers and leaders in the metaphysical field of spirituality.

Malcolm tells us that one of his personal demons or dragons was having a mother who constantly lied and he found it hard to know why she did this as he was not comfortable with that dynamic.

Malcolm wrote, “When we are truly seen for who we are, and likewise, when we truly see another for who they truly are, life flows.” He goes on to say, “We can become conscious of the quality of our attention whenever we speak to our intimate others. Each time we practice presence, we bring moments of sanctuary wherever we go. We are often called to bear witness in situations that are dangerous or destructive. How do we stay present with the rough, painful energy of rage hurtling toward us? How do we stay present when we’re fuming at another person? If we are wise we notice and honor our own response—neither using anger to retaliate and trash the other, not telling ourselves that anger is an unworthy emotion that needs to be repressed. In fact, if we can sit with our anger for a few seconds we may find something else underneath, often sadness or a painful memory. Perhaps we may be able to come into contact with others in a more authentic way, by allowing what we’re feeling to be part of the engagement. Or maybe the anger is about the need to assert a boundary or express ourselves. Our challenge then is to do it clearly and compassionately without going into red-mist meltdown mode.”

Malcolm tells us of some of the major challenges many of his clients face and some techniques he uses to incorporate into a successful plan for moving beyond suffering to accepting life and living well.

Malcolm writes, “For good reasons we have learned to construct a suit of armor to protect us from being overwhelmed by the magnitude of painful experience. Perhaps as children we needed to escape from violence or intrusion or feeling overwhelmed. This armor serves an important purpose—it protects us—and it’s useful for a warrior to have the capacity for deflection when a situation feels impossible to manage. The problem is that we have lost the ability to take it off, so the barrier we expected to protect ourselves deadens our deepest relationships and numbs our sensitivity. A piece of work is usually carefully dismantling the armor and facing what is underneath which is usually far less vile or scary than we expected. Once removed, we can learn the mechanisms for removing it and importantly how to consciously put it back on in appropriate situations.”

He went on to say, “After the work is done often there is a feeling of lightness, elation, freedom , happiness and a sense that the foundations have been shaken and reconstituted. Work is done over and over again. We work and work building trust practicing the skills and attaining profound and meaningful growth.

We often come to remember how our fears and limitations began because as children we functioned effectively on instinct. Very quickly, this gets slapped down in schools, friendships and even by skilled parents. They may teach you to use your ego based thoughts to go against your soul based intuition or navigating system….You won’t find your radar in your thinking mind…the way in is through the body, your feelings and your intuition. It’s not logical and in society that values logic it is easy to question. Following your radar often means swimming against the tide of society’s perceived truths. Many gifted healers and sensitives have lived through this time in childhood with the confusion of feeling different from their parents and families as indeed they were. They had a soul born to lead others to the truth of their being but it took time for them to understand their mission and also how to deal with their sensitivity to energy in their environments and between interactions with others. It can be hard to tell where the radar stops and our own attachment to our ideas starts.

Even though Malcolm is a firm believer in self healing like Sheryl, a Reiki Master Teacher/medium he recognized that Western medicine along with alternative methods can produce desired results. In his case his high blood pressure eventually needed some help with medication when the other methods were not working. You have to discern between your radar and fixed thinking and make the best choices. Sheryl shares her understanding that many physical or emotional challenges are chosen or created by the soul to experience a way to transcend their fears and limitations and healing occurs when they have lived through and observed the higher aspects of their own abilities.

Sometimes following our radar means having to confront uneasy truths that may force us into public opprobrium or undermine our cherished relationships. But when we lose our fear of living our truth and trusting its immaculate wisdom w become profound.

Some techniques to find and develop your radar include spending some time daily in meditative practice by starting in a simple way. Depending on your capacity for stillness do this 3-5 minutes a day. Close your eyes, find a quiet space and focus on your breathing. When thoughts intrude you notice them, observe your distraction and return to your breathing. Focus on the quality of breath: whether it’s deep or shallow, allow it to happen without trying to change it.

The important thing to do is to set aside a regular time to Centre yourself. This is a muscle that you gradually develop and it will be a powerful aid for you on the journey towards a potent and trustworthy radar. It’s a small action but the regularity will pay off. Meditation is not just about sitting. It is about being in the stillness to hear that quiet soul voice that guides you to making wise choices. There are many other things that get us in touch with our radar. Eating well, Exercising well. Sleeping well and loving generously..

We can allow our relationships to educate us and encourage greater self growth. Malcolm writes that we know we are at a crossroads and are called to act differently and dispense with old ideas and seek new horizons when often it arrives in the form of external events—a critical illness, the loss of a job, the loss of a relationship or the loss of a child. The loss of his daughter ultimately enabled Malcolm to be of more value to his friends, family and clients in increasingly profound ways as he realized that this tragedy had deepened his commitment to relieve suffering where he had the capacity to do so. He learned that thriving in the face of deep instability is not easy: it always demands a level of discomfort. If we dedicate ourselves to practices that feed our self -awareness, we can start making wise choices that no longer make us victims of circumstance. The goal is to develop a series of accessible practices that allow us to face our demons and build emotional stamina so when we come across adverse conditions, we have the tools and techniques to weather the challenges.

We can and should also learn to bear witness or practice presence to put our fullest attention on someone .It means slowing down and taking the time to pay attention. When we witness another, we are building a safe and trustworthy space in which whatever needs to be spoken can be received without judgment. When you bear witness, you become part of a field of listening and sometimes that creates an environment where a locked door can open potentially creating a life-changing realization. True listening doesn’t mean manufacturing Interest because falseness doesn’t access truth. Bearing witness is the capacity to stick with full attention while listening to a scenario which may not fascinate us, choosing to care about another in a subtle manner by giving them our attention.

People begin to find their purpose in life and take ownership of their own actions. Following our radar means following it into the shadow lands as well into actions that are authentic light and loving. The Shadow lands are the bits of us we don’t want seen, that we don’t want to act out, that we will play out in relationships. An example of this is Fredo in the movie The Godfather. Fredo is genuinely kind but unskilled in the ways of the world and creates messes around him through his inability to draw boundaries and his inability to read what’s going on with others. With no malice aforethought, he manages to betray his family and is eventually murdered by his brother Michael who waits until their mother is dead to eliminate his poor soul.

The spell is it we have to break and how does that help us be more authentic and compassionate in all our actions?

We must break the spell of fear and reliance on the outside world to determine what it is that makes us happy. Must think from within, follow your own life plan and destiny and trust that there is more to happiness and success than is measured in terms of materialist holdings.

Sheryl asks Malcolm what he has come to understand about death and the dying process or the reason that some people have a shorter or longer life and if he has a belief in an afterlife?

Sheryl goes on to say that as an intuitive medium Reiki Energy practitioner she has her feet in two worlds the physical and the spiritual and as a hospice volunteer for years discovered the process of transition from one dimension to the next as our soul energy moves past the physical body at the time of what is thought to be death and ascends to higher dimensions of reality and life. Consciousness survives physical death and life is eternal. In Sheryl’s new book A New Life Awaits she shares many stories and messages from Spirit showing the divine possibilities for creating our best life through understanding that we are souls having a physical life in order to develop greater love for Self, others and Universal Source.

Sheryl wrote, “Whether in a body or in pure energy, the soul is the essence and complete oneness of Spirit’s Intelligence and Universal Love and travels with us through time and space, lifetime after lifetime, as we gather experiences to refine our already magnificent soul. Death, in my opinion, is merely the next destination or adventure on our continuous circle of life. There really is no death, only the unfolding of the infinite layers of realities that exist within us, in this world, and beyond. These layers are filled with the excitement and wonderment of the beauty of nature, friendship, memories, and experiences gathered during many lifetimes. We must know that energy cannot be destroyed, so the energy of our thoughts and heart impulses must return to the place most people think of as Heaven, but is really simply the evolving expansion of creative life energy that is eternal.”

Perhaps Malcolm would like you to remember that next time you find yourself with someone who is unhappy or angry simply be present. Don’t judge or try to find solutions. Rather than sympathize, notice what’s happening inside you. Often when we feel disturbed our breathing quickens and in slowing down we give ourselves an extra resource. Let yourself make contact with your bodily sensations as you continue relating. Maintain eye contact. If you can’t and it’s too much for you let the other know in a compassionate way that you can’t do this now. In this way you will discover a deep capacity and interest in other human beings. We are retraining ourselves to be authentic with others. Expand this practice and bring it into everyday life. When you walk past trees, observe their differences and beauty. On a train refrain from using your phone and drink in the environment around you. Be present at all times.

We thank Malcolm Stern author of Slay Your Dragons With Compassion for sharing a lifetime of love and service to all who cross his path as a healer and messenger of truth in a time when the world seems to have forgotten the beauty of family friendship and life in it’s simplest aspects.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Malcolm Stern has shared his lifelong involvement working with groups and individuals as a psychotherapist and his worst nightmare of losing his daughter through suicide and how that challenging event made him evaluate every aspect of his work and life. Sometimes a tragedy is an opening up to new ways to perceive life and to learn acceptance and surrender to any event discovering life is continuous, whether here in a body or in eternal energy where consciousness survives physical death. Knowing this truth is an important means of finding peace, achieving wellness and improving all aspects of your everyday life experience. In his darkest moments perhaps, Malcolm and indeed each of us is willing to face our dragons head on and discover that ultimately it is ourselves we face every time we run into our darkest fears.

Malcolm says that meaning can exist in the worst tragedies and that the changes we make as a result of struggle and devastation can encourage courageous and powerful changes in our thoughts, actions and heart.

He writes, “The most important thing for me to do is to keep my heart open. I allow the time to make a genuine connection with each person by enquiring about their lives and needs, and giving them my full attention. Much good can come out of this. I don’t pretend that I am hurting them. I don’t need them to like me. But I am amazed at the good that can come out of a supposedly terrible moment.” He became a master of dragon slaying. Slaying your dragons doesn’t mean speaking your mind all the time and upsetting people left right and center. We are all looking at a middle path. We have to choose what’s important for us in a relationship with another. People who pick fights about every single thing that doesn’t fit with their picture of the world are not a joy to be around.”

Malcolm and Sheryl would have you begin to feel your bodily responses to people places and events as you sensitize yourself to the many energetic waves of energy that are all around us, and within, and find what makes you feel alive as a loving wise citizen of the Universe and you will not only slay your dragons and fears, but enrich the world by being in a grander state of acceptance love and happiness.

  • Channeled Messages from Wise Spirits of the Collective

Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick author of A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which share stories and messages from Spirit showing us the challenges we are facing are not merely economic political or societal, but a spiritual disconnect from our inner soul wisdom and sense of connection to Universal Source. I am delighted today to welcome Lois Hermann author of Chronicles of Hope The Collective—Book 2 who like me is a conduit for the relaying of messages from Universal Source to help us remember our soul journey and the potential we have to manifest our greatest potential to thrive and evolve during these changing and challenging times.

As listeners of “Healing From Within ” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share an understanding of the dual nature of soul and physical life as we try to observe ways to master our emotions and live lives of dignity and love exploring the world of man nature and the Universe. If we focus only on material needs, we often fail to observe the beauty of our soul energy and cannot succeed in either our soul or physical life development. A merging of our total essence is the key to success, joy, prosperity, peace and happiness.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Lois and Sheryl will discuss Lois’s second book in the series, Chronicles of Hope—the Collective—Book 2 which shares channeled messages from wise spirits of the Collective who teach us how to shift our energy to be more positive, to heal ourselves our families and communities, and our troubled world. In this timely compilation of ageless wisdom we hear from an ancient God, a beloved prophet, a little known Goddess, a misunderstood Archangel, the expansive Spirit of the Universe and the Spirit of the Earth, our mother Gaia. Whether you believe in many Gods, one God or no God these spiritual beings of the unseen world are concerned humanity will soon be its undoing, but if we listen, they are ever willing to assist us in saving this precious planet and the life that lives in, on and around her. Lois will share miraculous messages of love from Spirit in order to help us weather these challenging times where humanity is being called on to remember their true being and to work cooperatively rather than in competitive fashion which is undermining the health and well being of our planet and our personal development as souls having a physical life.

When Lois is asked to think back to her childhood and remember a person place event that may have shown her or others around her the lifestyle and interests she might pursue as an adult she immediately remembers her family trips to a camping ground by the water where every time they went she saw a lovely woman by herself with long white blonde hair who had a small tent and who just seemed to be so calm and quiet. Lois never got to talk to her but realized she was possibly different than all the others. Strange Sheryl says but you were drawn to her peaceful energy and Sheryl tells Lois that over twenty years ago when she was developing her healing and mediumship ability she went to a convention in Arizona. At a sound bowl healing workshop Sheryl was late and ran in to take the only seat left in a circle of twelve people. All of a sudden she felt drawn to look to her right side where a young woman with long white hair sat very still. The next day she met the woman at her booth where the woman told Sheryl her name was Victoria and she was from another star system and here to help humanity evolve by sharing vibrational music which she was selling at her booth. Sheryl asked Victoria if there were more beings like her and she said, “Yes.” “What do they look like?” Sheryl asked and Victoria responded, “They look like me.” It wasn’t so much what she looked like that Sheryl remembers, but the quietness and peace of her energy that she radiated. Funny how Lois and Sheryl, both sensitives and mediums had a similar encounter.

What might be the ageless wisdom we would hear from an ancient God? Lois relays from Spirit a wise truth, “Something can only be good in comparison to something that isn’t. But make no mistake . . . there are spirits which do not have the best interests of corporeal life in mind . . . and a lot of times it is hard to tell the difference. It’s what’s in their hearts, not what comes out of their mouths (that matters). The people . . . who put the greatest good for the greatest number ahead of themselves . . . those are the people you can trust. [Speaks very slowly.] There are a lot of them on Earth. Their activities go largely unnoticed. It is much easier to attract attention when you do something that is perceived as being wrong, than it is when you do something that is perceived as being right. That’s sad. And . . . if you can find a way to fix that, you’ll go a long way toward making this a much better place. I wish I had an answer for you; I wish I could tell you how to do it . . . It would be nice if I could simply appear in the sky and tell people what I’m telling you. It doesn’t work that way. I depend on you to take these words and put them out where everyone can see them. Some will believe; some will not. Some will follow; some will not. But I will tell you what my Child (Jesus) said two thousand years ago . . . “I am not God. Don’t follow me.” [Indicates himself.] You are the Gods. [Motions to Lois and Paul.] Follow each other. Learn to love each other. That will solve all your problems.

“Consider for example, what people call God (Divine Source, Universal Energy, Great Spirit) as being the ocean, and each of us is one drop in the ocean. Individually, we are one, yet collectively, we are all part of the Group of Divine beings or God. It takes all of us and the uniqueness bestowed upon us to come together with love as the common thread that connects us. When Rae the higher vibrational being giving information through the channeler, struggles with the word “love,” understand there are many types of love, and some languages have different words for these different kinds of love. Everything good is love. Yet, the word “love” is often taken out of context and split into many definitions based on the person’s individual understanding. Each person experiences love in their own way, many without realizing or recognizing it. The message is the same one that we aspire to communicate today: “We must learn to cooperate and harmonize with each other.”

Rae tells us the Collective helps on all worlds and has lost some species where technology outstripped wisdom. They are concerned that no world is at such a tipping point right now as Earth with our future on an accelerating curve. Humanity’s future hasn’t reached the point that it cannot be corrected; however, that point is very near. The balance must be brought back before it’s too late. We must address the greed in our world. The fear of scarcity must be shifted. As we come to know there is enough for everyone, those who have much must be willing to give and those who have little must be willing to accept. There should be an exchange of resources, insight, or energy.”

Lois shares with us a thought about a beloved prophet Jesus and writes, “The angelic energy, the vibration of an angel, is that what Jesus would be when he’s not in corporeal form? Rae: That is a fair description. [Takes a deep breath.] He . . . his spirit, all of our spirits, exist in a higher-dimensional plain. We can, to one degree or another, lower ourselves . . . lower our energies . . . to enter the physical. It is easier for my Children than for us. We can only do this temporarily, and only under very special circumstances, which I’m pushing to the limit right now. [Strains uncomfortably.] Most of the spirits that people consider to be angels are my Children. Many of the spirits that people think to be demons are also my Children. The imposition of “good” and “evil” is a corporeal thing. When you see something that you agree with, you think of that as good. When you see something you disagree with, you think of that as evil. But those are your definitions. And you have yours and everybody has theirs. Good and evil are not absolutes. They are relatives.”

Sheryl confirms this thought of good and evil as personal perceptions unique to each soul, but really not either good or bad and writes in her new book A New Life Awaits: Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening the following, “ The Universe, it appears, is asking us to pay attention, wake up, and go beyond all differences and limited thinking to observe, make corrections, and reevaluate priorities and values. Now, we must continue to work with all aspects of our physical and spiritual lives, to heal and create a world that offers hope in the face of personal or collective hardships, that may make us forget our divinity and ability to live with dignity. If we begin to do what feels right from within, without judging issues as good or bad, only as experiences, we will free ourselves from the many illusions or ideologies that still hold us prisoners to fear and the limitations of our conditioned minds and lift these challenging times to new heights for advanced human evolution.

Lois shares with us a story of one of the misunderstood Archangels was Samael. As much as Archangel Samael was a huge powerful energy, Lois’s heart went out to him. She could sense his deep sadness over being vilified and labeled as evil. He brings discord, which is similar to the concept of tough love. As a fatherly figure, Samael feels for his children and wants us to succeed, with strength. It is not that he enjoys the type of tension that incites war, nor is he inferring we must remove the infirm. The struggle that is essential for personal growth is based on internal conflict that must be mastered. If children are given everything without challenge, they don’t tend to grow into responsible adults. Those who are given much without having to earn it have a tendency to be dependent and never learn to support themselves. Give a person a fish and they will eat for a day; teach them to fish and they will eat for a lifetime. As we learn to rise above our internal and external struggles, we evolve into a place of strength, peace, and empowerment

Before this conversation with Samael, Lois had not realized that many of the damaged spirits will never recover. Her intention was to send them into the Light. Samael explained the number of extremely damaged spirits on Earth right now has never been higher, and that many of them will not reincorporate. When spirits do their life review, if they were full of hate and misery, they may choose to destroy their eternal spirit. Once that spirit is gone, it evaporates, and that energy is used to create a new spirit. The insight that there are so many damaged spirits on Earth right now explains the origin of the large numbers of new spirits. Archangel Samael helps transform the residual negative energy from the damaged spirits into positive energy for new life, new growth, and new beginnings. He is basically a master of spirit recycling, Lois mentions a soul like Hitler who needed to be destroyed so a new soul could form with opportunities for a new spirit to be of a higher nature.

How remarkably accurate Samael seems when he mentions Gaia’s frustration, and believes that in the near future we will see a drop-off in population growth. This certainly seems to be happening with COVID-19. As people experience the vast numbers of deaths worldwide, some are becoming more aware of how interconnected and similar we are as a civilization. Samael wants us to be more understanding of ourselves, each other, and our connection with Gaia. This virus is stimulating a new awareness among many. People are being forced to stop their robotic lives and return to nature, a practice American and other cultures have long embraced. The connection with our Earth Mother is deeply ingrained in their history. Gaia and the others in the Collective can help humans develop their spiritual self. People need to experience nature, to truly listen for and receive the message of inner peace and atonement. Once people affirm their true identity, old patterns will slowly dissipate, culminating in the fundamental knowing that” I am enough.” Lois encourages people to be open to the traditions of indigenous cultures that have long been misunderstood, much as Samael was misunderstood. Humanity needs unity and inspiration. We all have flaws and our lives are far from perfect. Yet if we each do our own personal work to gain understanding, achieve clarity, and connect with what is true in our hearts, we can shift anger and hate toward peace and acceptance.

We go on to talk about the expansive nature of the universe. The expansive energy of the Universe is the eternal life force of each soul that seeks to refine it’s energy to the vibration of love and living more humanely both here on the planet and beyond. There are many life forces. “Humans do experience alien visitation. However, what is perceived as physical visitation is truly spiritual visitation and is referred to as astral projection. Humans can develop the ability to project themselves across time and space using the power of their minds. Our minds are amazing computers that we can engage if we train ourselves. Everyone has the potential to tap into extra senses that they are unaware of. Some people come by these gifts naturally, while others work to develop them. We refer to these individuals as being psychic or telepathic, or having a sixth sense. Have you ever thought about someone, and soon after, they contact you? That’s an intuitive connection. Many people also have the ability to see or sense spirits of those who have passed over. While in a light state of trance, most of Lois’s hypnosis clients are able to easily communicate with loved ones, angels, or Guides. They also readily recall past memories. When reflecting on old memories, even past-life memories, although the visions seem real, they are truly illusions. These mental constructs are accessible to help us understand or relate to situations. The only true reality is this present moment of now. Similarly, we can use our mind to develop skills to communicate with others by projecting ourselves in a trance or dream state. We can develop extra-sensory communication abilities, yet Rae states: “Why you want to do a thing is always more important than what you are actually doing.”

In early human life, the Collective attempted to make people think there was reward and punishment to encourage good behavior. Rae the higher vibrational being relaying information to Lois says there is actually no reward or punishment. There is no good or bad; everything is relative. When your body dies, your spirit reviews all the memories you had when in physical form, and you see your life with great clarity. This is known as a Life Review. Based on how they lived their life, the person’s spirit determines what they will do next. Some might reincarnate to start over, others might move on, some come back to learn and experience again. Those who have been hurtful to others may sink to such a low vibrational level that they cannot reincarnate. Part of the work my clearing consultants and I do is to help lost spirits find their place in the Light. Some are so badly damaged that we call on the Archangels to guide them where they need to go. Based on years of work with lost spirits, Rae’s explanation made perfect sense to me. I appreciated Rae’s clarification on the importance of maintaining a balance of vibrational energies within a dimension. When the dimensional energy lowers, it is easier for lower-vibrational energies to get in, causing disturbances. It also makes it harder for higher-vibrational beings, such as angels, to assist because of the greater differences in vibrational energy. Again, we hear that good and evil are subjective.

Sheryl says it seems important for personal development and the Collective or world consciousness that we endeavor to live simply, to uplift our thoughts of caring for others and learning and sharing a source of enthusiasm for life. We can engage in that which supports our health emotionally and physically and seek to find beauty and joy in the natural world and in our actions. So the Buddhist thoughts of “Rightful thinking. Rightful action and Rightful living” are ways to hold this higher vibration of the divine Spirit and bring Heaven to Earth in our own lives as we also extend that philosophy and lifestyle out into the world. Holding your own personal power of soul goodness repeals the negative intentions of others who have not reached that level of refinement yet.

Lois tells us one of the stories in her book that most resonates with her heart and soul. It is a story of Jesus. Jesus shares his humanness and how he felt emotions which many higher vibrational beings or other life forms might not and Lois wrote, Jesus: It is the same message I gave two thousand years ago. [Sighs deeply, sadly.] That message has been distorted through time . . . distorted through people. It sometimes pains me that . . . [Long consideration, then sighs.] I am close enough to humans, as I can incorporate, to feel emotion, as opposed to my kin that you’ve spoken to who have not (been able to incorporate or feel emotion). Although my father (Rae) has a particular fondness for you. [Smiles knowingly at Lois.] That is uncommon for us. But my generation [Holds a hand to his chest.] . . . the spirit that lives in this body day-to-day identifies very closely with the corporeal world. We interact with it constantly and can become part of it . . . and it pains us greatly when people suffer needlessly. That’s an important word, needlessly. Suffering is necessary. You cannot enjoy pleasure unless you experience pain. Every coin has two sides. However, there are those who bring willful harm to others. That is a development which hurts us greatly. We have always sought to teach the message that people need to … I don’t want to say: “Love each other.” [Shakes his head.] That word is so abused. It’s just a matter of simple compassion. Not all intelligent races have emotion. Some do have a limited amount. Compassion is not a strictly human quality to be sure, but . . . it is rare in the Universe. And it saddens us to see compassion wasted so often. Not all worlds have their own spirit. Gaia is the spirit of this planet and cares for all of you. In some sense, you are all her children. You are all made of her bones. Gaia provides well for her children. There is no real scarcity on Earth. There is enough to go around.

As Lois interacted with Jesus, as channeled through Gary, she was struck by my own emotion of slight confusion. I am used to experiencing Jesus as a kind, yet strong, protective, and supportive Guide when he comes to clients during hypnosis sessions. Lois always feel a loving calmness when he comes to her in prayer or reflection. But in this interaction, he seemed different. He exhibited human emotions of intense sadness and concern. It touched Lois heart deeply to see him so sad. We have learned in these teachings that human emotions are unique in the Universe and can be very intense. Watching Jesus emote in human form solidified just how powerful our emotions can be.

In regard to Lois thoughts on Jesus Sheryl tells the story of while in mediation with a group of her students she suddenly sensed Jesus next to her and in her second book The Living Spirit wrote, “I had been doing a reading for one of the members of my unfoldment group when I suddenly sensed Jesus next to me. He was crying and I found myself choking back tears as well. “I have cried for many ills done by unknowing souls,” Jesus said, just as you and your group members also cry for the injustice and insensitivity of many.” Several other members of the group including Joyce, who I was reading at the time, sensed his presence. His words to me brought a feeling to my heart that to this day is hard to describe. It was incredible to think that he would visit a simple Reiki teacher and her group, reminding everyone present of the loving messages he had delivered during his earthly life journey so very long ago.”

This book Chronicles of Hope can help people who don’t have a feeling for or understanding of the unseen world and the infinite possibilities for change and the improvement of our personal development or world evolution It can make sense of some of spiritual and religious beliefs offering reasons for some of the challenges and misunderstanding we all experience while dealing with the physical issues of our dual nature as both spiritual and physical life beings. I think what Jesus tells us in the following message we can realize what went wrong with the relaying of his words so long ago and now calls on people individually to act righteously and lovingly without so much restriction and control by religious groups or governments, as is being witnessed more and more in these changing challenging times. Let each person make their own decisions and choices and stop the blame judgement and restrictions being placed on us as part of this pandemic or any other emergency factor.

Jesus said, “I realized then that my timing had been off, that my message was going to be lost. [Looks down as he shakes his head in despair.] I relied on my followers . . . if not to do the job I had tried to do . . . to keep the message alive . . . and try to bring peace to the world. [Sighs heavily.]

Lois asks, “Is it true that Mary Magdalene traveled to France to teach your words? Jesus answers, “All of my followers taught my words. Mary was very special. [Smiles softly.] Sadly, the message was changed. Instead of . . . following the simple message, leaders tried to force people to obey the message, and it was never meant as a command. [Pauses to consider.] The Ten Commandments were written by good men who wanted people to be good to each other. The message was simple. But, trying to enforce it on people . . . as I said, you cannot force people to change. Even if you give them something that they know is right . . . even if you give them something that they know is better to do . . . if you force them to do it, they’re going to resent it. And that is where it all went wrong. When the Christian religion was created, based on the messages that I gave, leaders tried to force people to follow their rules . . . [speaks with great remorse] and then worse, executed people who did not . . . in my name. [Long pause, then speaks with deep regret.] These are those moments that . . . these are the moments that hurt us. These are the moments . . . that at some level, we regret having gotten involved. That’s why we try not to get involved. Even . . . we . . .. as well-meaning as we can be . . . [shakes his head with heavy sorrow] . . . think of the number of deaths that went down in my name. It was not what I had intended.”

Our guides and messengers might like readers of Chronicles of Hope The Collective Book 2 to take away with them after reading this book that Spirit encourages people to do more inner reflecting, review their actions, and integrate what they are learning allowing their spirit to grow. Samael says humans are acting infantile. Many act like spoiled children full of spite, throwing temper tantrums when they don’t get their way. We should strive for a high-level, intellectual place of wisdom balanced with honesty and integrity. The current state of our civilization is considerably less evolved than many prior civilizations. This is evidenced in much of our religions, government, media, business, and entertainment arenas. Samuel tells us: “Do not let the fact that you have technology delude you into thinking that you are evolved.” Humanity has become so dependent on technology that we have forgotten what is most important. Technology is linear with processes, tasks, and impersonal structure. It is a valuable tool, yet it has come to define and control our way of living, our way of being. All life, including humanity, is truly circular by nature, co-existing in a world that is rich with rhythm and flow. Day follows night and spring follows winter. We need to remember our roots in nature and discover ways to tap into the natural flow of the cycles of our days, our seasons, and our lives.

We thank you Lois Hermann for the creative and true relaying of the messages shared in her new book Chronicles of Hope-The Collective Book 2 channeled from Universal Source and for her dedication to pursuing the mystical and magical world of energy life renewal and love.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have heard the fantastically inspiring messages of Rae and other advanced vibrational beings who exist in the Universe and try to communicate compassion and hope for an ever evolving human and divine existence for all.

At the time of this writing, we are immersed in the coronavirus pandemic with a worldwide practice of social distancing. The use of technology has been valuable to keep people connected in work and play. People are learning new skills, using video to communicate, playing online games together, staying connected, and keeping each other uplifted. Without technology, life would be lonely for many. By the same measure, instead of going to restaurants, people are spending time outside, playing in yards, walking on paths, singing in the streets, and sharing music from balconies and windows. In our separateness, there is a sense of oneness, of coming together as people, as one human collective to finally know ourselves as more than phyiscal entities and to heal mind body and spirit.

In other words whatever challenge we face, we find help in asking Spirit for guidance and to find a way to make life more compassionate and viable for necessary change. Rather than succumb to lower emotions of pain sadness dysfunction disease and depression we seek to uplift ourselves, our communities and that has been and continues to be the message of all spiritual teachers throughout time and space.

Lois and I would have you become more aware of the many messages you are receiving in the form or coincidences dreams synchronicity and indeed the miracle of life unfolding in every way, beyond good or bad, right or wrong, or any dichotomy of feelings, for each experience is necessary on the journey of the soul to remember and value all of life without judgment or loss. All is as it should be and we are the remarkable holders of love and compassion throughout many soul journeys!

Welcome to “Healing From Within.” I am your host Sheryl Glick, author of the newest book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Global Awakening which shares the notion that our challenges personally nationally and worldwide are not economic, political or societal but a disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom. I am delighted to welcome Thad Cummings, author of Radical Compassion which shares Thad desire to serve the greatest good and visits third world nations where he learns about poverty empathy and the joys of living with love and purpose ending his thoughts that poverty has little to do with the materialist world.

As listeners of Healing From Within well know, Sheryl and her insightful guests share intimate views into the metaphysical world of energy and science, as they share the truth of Who we are? and why we are experiencing a duality of life as both physical and spiritual beings learning to merge both aspects of our totality in order to live our best lives and reach our true potential as we find life is a balance between the mysteries of an ever evolving Universe.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Thad Cummings will share thoughts on “Can compassion change the world? And if so, why hasn’t it happened already?”

When Thad is asked to think back and remember a person place or event that may have shown them the lifestyle work and interests they might pursue and value he tells of the return of his friend Chris from a mission to help others in third world countries and what seems to have been an inspiration for you to write Radical Compassion.

Thad tells us Chris’s story and writes, “It wasn’t what I expected.” There was a tension in his voice, an unexpected fusion of pain and remorse as his eyes returned to the rocky path ahead of us. He went on to explain that this was a mission trip to serve the “poor,” to try and help in one of the most impoverished areas in the world. After speaking for several minutes, Chris lifted his gaze again, but this time, with a hint of shame in his eyes. “I went there to have empathy for the poor, but the poor had empathy for me, for my lack of joy amongst all my riches. I thought I was going there to help save them, but they were the ones saving me…” The crisp, spring morning suddenly felt heavy. The crisp, spring morning suddenly felt heavy and the chorus of singing birds faded from my ears. How is it that humans in one of the world’s poorest villages, ravaged with famine, crime, drugs, no access to clean water or medical supplies, filled with diseases and infections, without electricity and hardly any shelter, were the ones having empathy for my friend? My friend, who lives in luxury with all modern conveniences never worrying where the next meal will come from. “The sense of community they had, the joy they shared with me, they had hardly any food but tried to feed me before themselves; the gratitude was unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed,” “They were the ones taking care of me, not the other way around.” One question was left suspended in the air between us – “What if it is me who is actually poor?”

Poor (adjective): lacking material possess; small in worth. – Merriam Webster Dictionary

What does it mean to be poor?

What does it really mean to be “poor”? Is it just a matter of material possessions? Throughout this book, Chris would like to expand the definition of “poor” from a statement about economics and wealth and evolve it into many aspects of life. To begin with, he would split the definition into four main categories: financially poor, poor in health, poor in education and resources, and poor in life and spirituality. These categories can then be further broken down. For example, those who are poor in life or spirit may feel: relationally poor, poor of passion, poor of love, poor in purpose, poor in faith, etc. Now Chris is not going to treat this like a textbook to cover each of the four categories with definitive examples in a succinct pattern; life does not work in neat categories. Instead, this conversation unfolds through a series of stories that engage and overlap each category.

Before we begin, let’s set the stage by redefining “poor” in a new light to open the conversation and challenge our own stories (no offense to Merriam-Webster).

Poor (adjective): lacking an element for wholeness in joy

Thad writes, “Bluntly speaking, I think every person is poor in some regard and we have to look beyond the obvious physical signs to see it. Many of our lives are riddled with bouts of fear, anger, bitterness, jealousy, judgment, or resentment. While I believe these sources of pain and despair may be rooted in a place of fear, I think they also point to a large inadequacy in our lives – a shortage of joy. When life seems to be overflowing with joy and compassion, there is often little room to harbor any of this pain and despair. Yet most of us are consumed with the pain and despair to some degree. Why else would topics like greed and envy be so commonplace in society? We all have needs & we all have something to offer Take the example of my friend visiting Haiti who went with physical resources such as medicine, food and building supplies to a village that desperately needed them. Absolutely wonderful. But in return, the village shared with him a compassion of grace, love and community that he was desperately searching for, and didn’t even realize how much he yearned for it until it was bestowed upon him. We have the ability to fill in the gaps for one another. In fact, it is part of our purpose. It’s how humanity was meant to grow in love and compassion.

This awareness of the different needs within to find happiness in life is so important. This shift in awareness is vital because on one hand, it keeps us from reverting to a characterization of victimhood where we believe we have nothing to offer this world. That mentality forces us to conclude we are powerless in our circumstances or even that our very presence is a statement of bad luck and a testament to the wake of damage we will inevitably leave behind for even trying. On the other hand, if we attempt to help another person without engaging from a place of empathy, or acknowledging we also have needs, it will leave our interactions with that person directional (or one sided). This approach allows barriers to stay in place and it allows us to keep ourselves at a distance, taking on God-complexes of superiority to say, “I have something you need and I choose where to give it.” We will discuss these trains of thought.

Thad goes on to discuss cyclical compassion Cyclical compassion is a new cycle that creates tangible change when we participate without asking, “What is in it for me?” and instead begin saying, “Here is what I can offer.” Cyclical compassion opens the door for humility where we can simultaneously posture ourselves to accept love and grace in return. Our world view continues to grow as we see the positive feedback loop this cycle creates. It awakens us to issues like the pain, destruction, despair and loneliness created in our competitive efforts toward the futile labeled horizon of “success.” Then, and only then, do we see that success in life is not about climbing a corporate ladder, accumulating wealth and possessions, or striving to be the best employee, athlete, student, family, fill in the _______. No, the more our worldview expands, the more we realize the only competition that matters in this life is in living life to our fullest potential: a life full of grace and compassion for all of the “poor” in the world; including ourselves.

I’d like to simplify this conversation by focusing on three major types of roadblocks that I think we can all relate to and let you unfold the rest in your own discernments.

#1) Fearful doubt: “What if I’m wrong?”

If purgatory exists, it’s known here on earth as the intensive care unit (ICU). I was in Utah with my stepfather visiting his son, Kris, in the hospital. ICUs are stressful places and you are never visiting one because a friend or family member is doing “well” by any definition. Aside from an operating table, it is the most serious place a person can be within the hospital. Kris had a stroke of bad luck in his childhood when a virus went to his heart. The damage was permanent and irreversible. Although Kris did his best to stay as healthy and active as possible, 30 years later he would find himself battling a flu he just couldn’t shake. He was dropped off at the local emergency room and upon entering the hospital he collapsed as his heart stopped beating not once, but twice. A week, a day, an hour earlier, anything short of him walking into the hospital and he would not be alive. I did my best to convey to his father what he was about to see, but nothing can prepare a father to see his son connected to a dozen machines including ECMO, a machine that was beating for Kris’s heart. Conversations take on a whole new meaning when you can’t speak to your child who has multiple tubes down his throat breathing for him. Walking up to the bedside, I froze. I didn’t know what to say to my brother, I didn’t know what to say to my stepfather, I didn’t know what to say, period.

I returned to the waiting room to clear my head and stared out the window at the mountains. A voice broke my concentration as I turned to see a woman with long black hair talking on a cell phone. I overheard her conversation and watched as she broke tragic news to a sibling over the phone. She collapsed to the floor, sobbing hysterically. I didn’t ask her if she was ok or if she needed anything, I didn’t offer a shoulder to cry on, I just stood there watching, entrenched in an isolated state of chaos and confusion. I wanted to reach out a hand, to say something, anything, but my mind began to race: What if she wants to be left alone? What if she gets mad at me for asking? What if she just needs space? Sure, but what if I’m wrong?

While we’ve all been in such a situation, this “armor” or “cage” can feel intangible and difficult to discern. Putting it in context, we might realize how this notion of being “wrong” can actually be used in reverse to eliminate this roadblock entirely. To be clear, this isn’t a conversation limited to big events in hospital waiting rooms. Loneliness, despair and isolation are real and everywhere. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, there is an average of 121 suicides per day amounting to 44,193 deaths per year. It is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. And for every successful attempt, there are 25 failed attempts. That’s over 1.1 million suicide attempts per year just in the United Sates. Most of us know at least one person who has been affected by suicide, but let’s take this one step further. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, over 40 million Americans battle with anxiety and depression on a daily basis. Loneliness, despair and isolation have touched every one of us. Know these statistics not because I researched them on Google. I know them because I’ve experienced them personally and have seen or heard a similar experience in just about every relationship in my life. Why, then, didn’t I reach out to ask that woman if she was ok? Why couldn’t I look my brother in the eyes? Why didn’t I say anything to my stepfather? Those are the initial questions and they open the floodgates to many more. Remember, this isn’t just a conversation about a person poor in health. Why do I briskly walk past a homeless person who is asking for money? Why do I avoid making eye contact with the person sitting silently on the bus staring at the floor? Why don’t I say thank you to the person taking out the trash at the office building or ask the mother of three if she needs a hand with her groceries – especially as the youngest begins to have a meltdown in the checkout aisle?

Compassion is one of the most in-depth elements of a relationship we can have with another and with ourselves. This notion of being wrong—feeding our doubt in what we have to offer and to give—is significant in and of itself and it ties right into what I find to be the most common roadblock to compassion.

#2 Convenient Compassion: “Is this easy and agreeable for me?”

I have had a million excuses to keep me at bay when it comes to practicing compassion. It’s not to say I’m not full of compassion; it’s just that compassion feels more or less accessible when it is convenient for me. When my day is going well, I’m rested, I’m caught up on my to-do list, my hair looks good and my new shoes fit just right, of course I’m happy to help then! But how often does that happen? What about when I am indeed tired, exhausted, frustrated, furious, behind, really behind, late, or extremely late? Don’t even get me started if I have a personal feud with you. Under any of these circumstances I suddenly have a whole new set of questions and standards that enable me to avoid compassion. I’m not talking about the obvious questions like what if I’m more late or what if this makes me fall even more behind… no, those make me sound selfish so I have newer and more preferred questions I can ask that make it better for them that I don’t get involved: What if that person isn’t struggling? What if they are offended by me asking? What if they think I’m a creep or a jerk? What if I embarrass them? What if they embarrass me? What if I say something wrong? What if I cause a scene? What if they say “no” or laugh in my face? Sure, but what if I’m wrong? What if that person has no one left? What if no one has reached out and asked them how they are doing? What if they haven’t heard that they are loved or that they matter or that they have worth in days, or months or even years? What if they just want someone to talk to, someone to say it is going to be ok or someone to tell them they aren’t crazy or alone? The truth is, I’m not a genie, I don’t know.

Are you ready for the most frustrating part?

Offering compassion isn’t going to happen conveniently for you just like there is never a convenient time for that bad or earth-shattering thing to happen in the first place. Who has ever offered condolences for the death of a pet and that owner responds, “Oh not to worry, it was a convenient time for Sparky to die.” No form of pain in your life happens at a convenient time and your compassion should not be predicated on convenience either. Yes, it will interrupt your perfectly planned week. It will come at 3 a.m. while you are sick in bed with the flu.

#3 Judgment: “Do they deserve compassion?” This is by far the hardest to discuss. In fact, I knew it would be easier if I left it out in the hopes that you might skim past this section without bringing it up.

Thad writes, “If we are all being completely honest, I think most of us have battled serious issues of doubts, loneliness, anger, funks, or resentment in our lives, all but lashing out at the heavens to scream “Why!?” But sometimes, the desire to take another step beyond questions like, “Should I keep going?” or “What is even the point of all of this?” comes not from within, but from another person. Not necessarily a person who shared some wisdom or had some answer for us, but a friend, a lover, a stranger: someone who was simply present in a difficult time. Who reminds us that we are loved. Who helps us see that we all make mistakes and we aren’t actually alone in this world no matter how hard that can feel at times. Most importantly, this is someone who takes time to notice and genuinely cares: someone whose compassion isn’t constrained by conveniences, by the fear of being wrong, or by determining if you deserve it or not. “

TCompassion is the source of vitality in this life. Compassion takes on more power than any other entity. It’s a means to stop unnecessary suffering. It’s a step toward ending the tragic statistics of depression and suicide of people poor in life, a step toward visiting that person in the hospital who is poor in health, a step toward supporting a group of persons in Haiti who have no resources and a step toward building a relationship with a person who may be penniless and homeless. For all of my friends out there thinking you don’t have a compassionate bone in your body, I want to make it clear that compassion isn’t just a necessary component of life nor an elusive trait of selfless servers and non-profits.

Compassion is in all of us at the core of our being. We already have it because it is the fundamental basis to the very essence of who we truly are. We are born of compassion and we can only exist in this life through the substance of compassion. Sometimes we just have to change our vantage point in order to see this, as well as believe it. That’s what this discussion is ultimately about: a change in perspective. If you don’t believe in this for one reason or another, that is ok. I fought this reality for years. But I still want to challenge you to read this book from a place of openness and to consider one vital train of thought: What if it could be true, that compassion is the essence of my existence, and how would that viewpoint change my outlook on life?

What is GIVING YOURSELF GRACE? Is it time to let go of the competition and your past?

If we cannot give ourselves grace, then how are we ever going to be able to receive grace? If we cannot receive grace, then how are we ever going to be able to give grace to others?

We all have unique ways in which we respond to determining Giving Yourself Grace 35 our worth and value. It follows this belief that if you only knew who I was, the real me, that might not be good enough. Or you might condemn me for those flaws and insecurities. This fear is deeply ingrained and sourced from two forces in our lives that are keeping us from offering grace to ourselves: societal influences and our own belief in our unworthiness (and both of these tend to feed off of each other). Our ancestral roots, for example, have a dark history that desired, longed for, and loved to bear witness to atrocities like beheadings, hangings, stoning’s, and crucifixions. Forget the notion of pain for a moment; these ordeals were meant to be publicly humiliating… to completely shatter a person’s worth for the world to see and cast their judgments upon. These are no longer legal forms of punishment in this country, so instead we have easy access to platforms like social media to get our fix for public shaming. Social media has its positive aspects, I know, but much of this new-found access to judgment is nothing short of an epidemic.

The biggest regret I had when the doors closed was not losing all the money, it was shutting down my community food program It made me question my ability to even help people in the first place; it was like an acid burning away the part of my soul that longed to serve this world and I was not mentally prepared for its corrosive powers. It took months for me to consider the thought of volunteering or helping my community again. Months to face the narratives and redefine a new one based on who I am, not on what others perceived me to be. Eventually I was able to find the desire to serve again. Still, that message sits in my phone two years later as a reminder of this battle I am continually bumping up against. A battle to not only question everything I see and hear elsewhere, but a battle to keep a close watch on how I am defining my worth and value, especially when it comes to offering myself grace.

I often refer back to Don Miguel Ruiz’s book, The Four Agreements, when he talks about our ability to communicate as one of the greatest gifts we humans have. Sadly, we often abuse and misuse this gift. He states, “But like a sword with two edges, your word can create the most beautiful dream, or your word can destroy everything around you.” Hitler brought the entire world to its knees through the power of his word simply by preying on the fears and securities of others.

Let me be blunt. We have an addiction to platforms like social media, yes, but it’s a larger issue than that. We face a cultural addiction. It’s not just about getting the right selfie for our profile picture or the right sunset shot for our Instagram. It has evolved to the way we carry ourselves in our work or how we engage with friends and family dating back to the post World War II era of “keeping up with the Jones’s.”

Before, we had a cultural addiction of trying to keep up with everyone; now, we attempt to one-up everyone. Uniqueness and being on top have now become the goal. Being unique is not necessarily a bad thing; it’s when we want to look and perceive ourselves as being so unique that we begin to lose our true uniqueness rooted in the depths of our soul, sacrificing this in order to create a new image with a higher altitude. When we are on “top,” it means everyone is looking up at us trying to catch up. It is easy not only to judge, but to get value when people are drooling at your feet to hear what story you are going to share next or when someone asks you where you bought that dress and inadvertently feel superior to others… that is when things start to fall apart.

Sheryl thinks what Thad wrote is a very important insight into soul and personal growth We must take the issues deeper in order to understand, as well as resolve them. “So forget the flowers, the landscaping and diamonds and birthday parties. We must engage our partner to know and love them well, as is true for our neighbors, our children, and our friends. However, none of this is possible if we aren’t able to engage and love ourselves well – to step away from the games and root ourselves in the healing power of grace.

Thad may want you to remember this, “The next time you make a fairly decent mistake, get frustrated and start laying into yourself, write it down, get it all out and put it aside. After several days when things have calmed down and the moment has passed, go back and read what you wrote. Ask yourself if you would say that to a coworker, a friend, a spouse or your child? What did that ultimately accomplish and how big of a mistake was it in the grand scheme of things? Are you using your words to create a beautiful dream or destroy everything around you?

We thank Thad Cummings for a sensible logical and wonderful way to appreciate compassion empathy and love from an inner sense of being without judgment and complications from our physical life challenges In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have seen what compassion really is and why there are barriers that prevent us from often engaging in opening our hearts and sharing with others who are in pain sorrow or challenged in some way out of our fear to make a mistake make it worse or appear like we are intruding. We have seen that if it feels right and we offer any assistance through love it will always be valuable and if not appreciated at the moment down the road may be remembered as a life line and a moment of true compassion.

Thad has shown us the journey of his soul has been to find ways to open to the impulses and alignment to Spirit, move past fear and simply be present and open to all possibilities. Thad writes, “I share these stories because from the simple mistakes to the deepest despair in life, we don’t tend to go easy on ourselves. Or we let our past mistakes define who we are in the present. It is imperative that we dissect both the external as well as the internal voices that keep us from having grace and compassion on ourselves. It has taken years, but I’m beginning to not only understand both sides of my own coin but also to alter my “why.” I continue to long to serve in my community and the more grace I’ve been able to have on myself, the less my baggage comes with me in my acts of service. The less it becomes about determining my worth or what others may think, and instead, I find myself more capable to share that grace with those I encounter.

  • Cut the Worry Fear and Live with Awareness

Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Energy Teacher and author of the newest book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which shares stories and messages from Spirit that show us our challenges are not economic political or societal but a spiritual disconnect from our inner source of soul awareness or true being. Today Sheryl is delighted to welcome Kathryn Tristan, author of Why Worry? Stop Coping and Start Living who is a research scientist and assistant professor of medicine at the Washington School of Medicine.

Over the years guests of Healing from within have come to expect Sheryl and her guests to share intimate and personal insights into the nature of the human condition, health, and learning ways to merge all aspects of energetic and physical life for solutions to our traumas fears and limitations so we may make better choices to create a loving prosperous and healthy lifestyle.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Kathryn Tristan will help us navigate and understand that with the US cases of coronavirus climbing everyday and no sign of stay at home orders letting up, many citizens in isolation are worried anxious and unclear of their current and future situations, due to this uninvited and unnatural Covid- 19 world pandemic. The excessive amount of fear, stress and mis messages being dispersed from the media online, on our social channels and on television about the virus and its effects has created a disturbance in the 2020 election and how elected officials are making many unwise decisions. She will help listeners to focus our minds to overcome worry and anxiety using simple and easy tools of the mind, body and spirit not just for this difficult time but to benefit us all the time.

When Kathryn is asked to think back to her childhood and remember a person place or event that may have signaled to them or to others around them what values and interests she might pursue as an adult for Sheryl believes within the heart and soul of the child is the destiny or life plan that will unfold and guide them forward Kathryn immediately tells of her difficult childhood an alcoholic father a divorce but a mother who shared her faith and metaphysical views that allowed Kathryn to eventually conquer her fear of not being perfect and not able to take risks so she could move beyond her comfort zone which she began to do as she matured.

We are aware that everyone to one degree or another is worried and stressed, but when do we know we are hitting the RED ZONE? We all worry. It’s a natural part of living. A biologically built-in mechanism, worry was designed to help us. Where do we go wrong? For millions worldwide, worries are eating away at our sense of security and our feelings of well-being, and are ultimately downsizing our happiness while supersizing our stress. We cannot open a newspaper, turn on the television, listen to the radio, or surf the internet without witnessing chaos, catastrophes, or just plain old bad news. Our personal lives also are challenged. Work, home, relationships, finances, health: each aspect is one ball in our juggling act.

We must come to understand what worry is. Worry is a multifaceted emotion with many forms and intensities. In its simplest understanding, worry is a response to a stressful situation that is fueled by analysis, imagination, and often exaggeration. Depending on your responses and the mix of these three elements, worry may help you solve a problem or overwhelm you with fears about future calamities. Worry is the hub, the nucleus, the center from which many other emotions emanate, such as anxiety, panic, and depression. Worry levels can range from mild to severe. There are three levels of worry.

At Level 1, worry is the little voice that alerts you to possible trouble ahead. When you resolve worry at this level, it can provide helpful input regarding the situation that needs to be addressed. It can offer a competitive edge as you consider possible outcomes and develop strategic responses. You can also seek input from your intuitive side or inner spirit to help you to arrive at the best possible solution. At Level 1, you may feel vulnerable but also capable of responding to the challenge.

At Level 2, worry spreads and escalates into the fearful hypervigilance of anxiety or the chronic rumination of depression. You may feel stuck, powerless, and unable to resolve issues and stresses. Your connection to your inner spirit and intuitive guidance erodes. It is easy to feel tense and difficult to feel relaxed and peaceful.

At Level 3, worry erupts into panicky feelings. Worry has now become toxic. Because they may come out of the blue, you cannot find logical reasons for these troubling feelings, which seeds more worry and more anxiety. A loop of fear engages and may spread to more and more situations. Here, exaggeration replaces appropriate analysis and leaves you with the overwhelming feeling that you can’t handle the situation. You feel disconnected from your inner spirit and intuitive guidance. Panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) are examples of Level 3 worry.

This is exactly what happened to Kathryn. And maybe one of the worst ways to worry. Her analytical brain automatically churned out possible scenarios of what could go wrong in any situation, leaving me tense and wary about the unknown future. Like many, she felt that if she worried enough, perhaps it would help her anticipate and thus prevent bad things from happening. Instead, this natural, well-meaning plan became a chronic mental infection.

During Kathryn’s super stressful sophomore year in college, while studying day and night for her finals, she suddenly experienced a sense of overwhelming fear as she reviewed formulas she didn’t really understand in her chemistry book. The more she noticed this feeling, the more afraid she became. Kathryn wanted to run away, but there was no danger; it just felt like there was. She wondered if she was having a heart attack or losing my mind as physical symptoms became noticeable. She learned later that this experience was a panic or anxiety attack. She didn’t figure that out for quite some time, though, and she continued having episodes, but in more and more situations: driving on the highway, sitting in the classroom, shopping at the grocery store. It seemed that anything could trigger an attack. She was given some sedatives and told by school counselors to relax more. She worried constantly about having these awful feelings. Eventually they subsided, and she was able to bury those troubling emotions. Time helped, but it took several months of confusion and occasional gripping fear. She thought fear was her problem. It didn’t occur to her to change her daily stress-producing routine. In other words, she was focusing more on the outcome (fear) than the cause (stress)—on the outside rather than the inside.

Kathryn shares with us some of the best ways to deal with worry. Her “Eureka!” moment appeared when I finally realized that worry is a choice. Worry is indeed an inborn response that alerts us to possible trouble, but instead of allowing its dire predictions of future calamities to escalate, I have the power to evaluate it and to react differently. I can choose to hear the voice of worry and disagree; I can choose to maintain harmony with my psychological immune system whose biologic purpose is to help, not hurt. Here are some other things I learned. Our fears provide valuable lessons. Combining the wisdom and knowledge of our mind, body, and spirit, we can solve any problem. Within each of us is a powerhouse of inner energy that we are seldom aware of; we just have to release it. We can challenge worry and create peace in simple ways. Within us is the power to handle not just some but all of our challenges.

Although we can choose to make great strides out of the pit of worry, choice alone is not enough. Thundering doubts will persist. This is the protective side of worry. However, we can choose instead to hear a quieter voice that assures us we will be safe and can handle whatever we need to handle. By disagreeing with the doomsday voice, we can amplify another that says, “All is well!”

We can train ourselves to worry productively Thus, overcoming chronic worry is an active, not a passive, process. Our real journey begins when we start to step outside of our comfort zones and take risks to move beyond our limitations and improve our lives. As you practice challenging yourself in small ways, you will find something miraculous happening. You will begin to feel comfortable and powerful as you face challenges. Risking and doing are far more powerful than worrying and wondering. Not long after Kathryn began challenging herself to go farther and farther away from home, she took her first plane flight from Saint Louis to nearby Chicago. There was a thick fog that morning. Although the worry voice was loud, she thanked it for trying to protect me and forged ahead. She boarded the plane with her wonderful friend Pam. She will never forget the sensation when the plane lifted off the runway. In an instant, the rough and bumpy ride turned silky smooth. We were riding on air and softly ascending into the gentle sky. In between patches of fog, she watched the airport and surrounding houses get smaller. Then a remarkable thing happened. The fog that blanketed the airplane like swirling smoke just disappeared. In its place was a bright, beautiful, golden sunlight and brilliant blue sky. What an amazing sight for her first airborne view of the heavens. Below us was a pervasive cottony layer of clouds. Kathryn beamed and looked over at Pam. She had tears in her eyes. She knew this was a life-altering moment for me. It was a golden flash of victory over a lifelong struggle to release myself from the darkness of my worries and fears. She wasn’t crying; her heart was rapidly beating, excited and enthralled. Risk can do that for us. It frees us, it empowers us, and it places us directly back on our life’s path.

Kathryn and Sheryl discuss the challenges and fears and their own experiences in dealing with COVID -19 CHANGES They both conclude that like anything harmful or negative that comes from the outside world with proper thinking and assessment it can be seen as an opportunity to remember your eternal intuitive guidance soul system that connects you to the Universe or divine source of healing and appreciation for your life journey, knowing you are a spiritual being having a physical life, and when thinking positively even about the worst circumstances you create an energy which draws more of that positivity to you and it is possible to transform the illness to wellness. You can also come to know that whatever happens is part of “experience” neither good nor bad, just necessary for your soul to experience and to conquer the fear.

At the present time many are worried about the loss of a job or are worried you will and are totally stressed by everything. What is the best advice to give someone in that situation to help them? Kathryn tells a story of Tim who is unemployed and can’t find a job. He worries that he’ll never find work or be able to pay off his mounting debts. He’s miserable, and he sends that energy to everyone around himTim isn’t using worry to solve his problems; instead, he is creating more problems because of his unproductive reactions.

As Kathryn and Sheryl know energy draws more of that same energy to you. Fear generates fear as hope generates an energy of positivity and simply allows others to feel good when in your presence and ultimately everyone benefits. Shery as an intuitive healer suggests to her clients that they meditate, pray or simply talk to that Universal Source and make clear intentions as to what they need and want and often it doesn’t take long for those thoughts to materialize.

In Sheryl’s new book A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening she writes, All beautiful souls must strive to find ways to move beyond the manipulation and mind control perpetrated by society and our earlier upbringing in order to discover that we are not alone, and that loved ones on both sides of life, our earth life and our eternal life, surround us with their courageous hopes and whispers of life and afterlife possibilities. You don’t even necessarily need an illness or insurmountable challenge to tap into this place of uncompromised support for your soul and mind truth. You might have a dream, hear a song, take a walk along a mountain trail or an ocean shore, or eat a divine meal and in a moment of joy, realize that you have everything you need within yourself to live fearlessly and to conquer this illusion of mind control and death. In that moment, you are free to explore your inner landscape and to visualize what it is you truly long

Kathryn tells us that stress and worry are hitting us at a younger and younger age. Why do you feel students are losing the battle against stress? After all, lots of people have concerns. The difference is in how you let them affect your life. Worry becomes a problem when it escalates to the point where it robs your life of joy, and when you begin to focus on your worries instead of living life to the fullest. When this happens, worry controls you. You begin to live in a more anxious state, waiting for the next bad thing to happen. When you expect a negative outcome, it can become a self-fulfilling destiny. Thus, by agreeing with worry, you give it power that prompts you to watch out for anything that could be similarly worrisome. By agreeing with worry, you expand it. By agreeing with worry, you’re launched into the troubling world of anxiety. When we experience anxiety, we have supersized our worries. Anxiety not only results from worrying but So what’s the problem? After all, lots of people have concerns. The difference is in how you let them affect your life. Worry becomes a problem when it escalates to the point where it robs your life of joy, and when you begin to focus on your worries instead of living life to the fullest. When this happens, worry controls you. You begin to live in a more anxious state, waiting for the next bad thing to happen. When you expect a negative outcome, it can become a self-fulfilling destiny. Children are absorbing many of their parents and friends fears and reactions due to the face moving pace and the expectations being imprinted on them. Also many children now during this spiritual evolution are EMPATHS and are actually able to feel other people’s emotions and physical reactions as well as differentiate between the energy of places which hold energy for long times after events.

Over a period of time, our negative reactions develop into quick firing neural circuits that become wired in our brains and bodies. Our minds and bodies become accustomed to following the negative training we are providing: the training to overreact, overstress, and over worry. The myriad interactions in which we participate every day—our jobs, finances, relationships, and so on—can drain our energy resources, leaving us on an autopilot that idles in a constant state of feeling overwhelmed and anxious. When worry becomes supersized into anxiety, it is sending us a message. The angst we feel comes from the impossible demand to control the outside world. However, true control lies within. True control releases us from the need for total control. True control is strengthened by our conscious intention to work from inside out and in connection with our mind, body, and spirit

Sheryl might say because they don’t really have an understanding that wellbeing and healing come from within from an intuitive soul energy and that the outside world is not really the cause of unhappiness or the poor choices made if one is following the herd mentality and trying to fit into the world according to other people’s expectations they are giving up part of their soul needs just because they want to be accepted and fit in. Understanding life and perhaps even death which so many are afraid of and knowing nothing is really good or bad just experiences our soul programmed into their life journey even before they entered this physical life is extremely freeing. A spiritual awareness of life is an aid in truly learning more about yourself and how to deal with all issues

Kathryn goes on to touch on the Four Core Concepts covered in the book which give a clear understanding of what is needed to move pass worry and create a fearless approach to any issue or happening.

These four CORE concepts help you change how you view your life. They will provide a template for experiencing the magic and joy of life. And they will help you learn how to empower yourself and stop worry from being your driver. Each concept builds on the previous one, and you progress at your own pace.

Here’s a quick summary of these tools.

The C in CORE stands for Choice. Healing from fear begins by recognizing that your life is built on your choices. This initial concept reveals a secret: choice provides power. How you react to any situation, event, or experience is something you choose. You overcome chronic worrying when you begin making power-building, rather than fear-seeding, choices.

The O stands for Outlook reveals that how you think about anything determines how you experience everything. By changing how you perceive, process, and react to any situation, you surge past seemingly insurmountable problems. You can create safety and feel more powerful. You can deconstruct inner trash talk and negative thinking, and consciously rewire, retrain, and restore more productive ways of reacting to worries and challenges. Ultimately, you launch into your own recovery by taking charge of two natural inner forces that either hurt or heal. Changing your outlook is a key strategy to overcoming worry. R stands for learning to take Risks. Worriers don’t embrace the idea of doing anything risky, anything that might heighten an already overactive sense of danger. But embracing your ability to make better choices and connect with inner sources of strength reenergizes your self-confidence and allows you to take small steps away from worry. As confidence builds, you begin to free yourself from the prison of chronic worry. You learn how to tone down the voice that says “don’t” and amplify the one that says “do!” You learn how to re energize feelings of happiness and realize that taking risks may not be so risky. Instead, you find you are your own source of safety in any situation. You find that risks can lead to fun, exploration, and adventure. You find that worry fades like a bad memory, while excitement for life emerges. E stands for Embracing Spirit. When you embrace your inner spirit, you cultivate the highest part of yourself that loves life, gives direction through your feelings, and perceives meaning beyond the five senses. As you continue pushing back the barriers that have hindered you, “overwhelmed” and “defeated” are no longer in your personal vocabulary. Embracing your inner spirit and your intuitive side allows you to surge beyond limitations and head into the remarkable. It releases a buried treasure. It rejuvenates a childlike sense of wonder, imagination, and adventure. This treasure is expansive and fun. When you feel free and safe enough to explore instead of recoil, you do things you never thought you could, and by turning your pain into an opportunity for growth and healing, you open the door to becoming the person you’ve always wanted to be

In one of Kathryn’s chapters she mentions the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi and applies it to improving our lives.

Wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy, describes beauty as “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.” It honors all things dented, scratched, weathered, and worn. (Imagine that, you perfectionists!) This view of beauty has evolved over the centuries from early Buddhist teachings that focus on the transient nature of life and the value of just being. Today, particularly with regard to art, wabi-sabi means “imperfect beauty.” Wabi-sabi brings a quiet acceptance of life as it is, rather than what we demand it to be. It inspires us to look beyond what we see, despite perceived flaws, and seek a greater understanding of the beauty that is all around us. A chipped bowl, old wood, aged fabric, or yellowing paper—all can be objects to celebrate

Sheryl says that as a Reiki Master Teacher which is a Japanese healing art practice the Five Principles show us a path to peace, harmony and balance beyond worry and suffering also bringing an acceptance of self and life as it is.

    They are as follows:

    1. Be slow to anger
    2. Be slow to worry
    3. Honor your family elders and community
    4. Be appreciative of your work and do it honestly.
    5. Be kind to all living beings.

Kathryn goes on to write, “It is important that we develop our own wabi-sabi savvy, to transform our demanding and perfectionistic outlook into a quiet acceptance of the transient but beautiful nature of our own lives. We can begin to experience a peacefulness despite our own “cracks.” We can begin to realize, through a quiet acceptance and an inner knowing, that all can be harmonious. We can shine our internal spotlight on celebrating who we are and on the gift of life that is always, in its own way, already perfect and beautiful.”

The book’s subtitle is “Stop Coping and Start Living” Isn’t that also true of worry? Unfortunately, constant worry fuels anxiety and creates a chronically unsettled mindset. If you anticipate that something bad is going to happen, it makes sense that you feel nervous. But over time, your body locks into a biochemical mode that responds to your unconscious directions. Worry and nervousness become personality traits, your natural idle. That makes it difficult to know what bothers you because everything does. New scientific findings are helping to shed light on how this happens. One of the most exciting breakthroughs in neuroscience is the discovery that our thoughts and feelings can change the very fabric and function of our brains. This young science, called “neuroplasticity,” describes the astonishing process of how the brain can wire and rewire itself. Neuro refers to nerve cells (neurons) and plastic suggests malleability or changeability.

Of course, we all worry sometimes. When it genuinely helps to solve problems or alert us to real danger, worry can be a powerful means for protection and productivity. Our goal is not to eliminate all worry but to learn how to respond to it in a way that helps, not harms. For example, worry can be the twinge of thought that suggests you see the doctor when something is wrong—an appointment that might reveal a potential health problem just in time. Worry can also be the internal prodding that suggests you take a cab instead of walking home at night—a decision that may save you from being mugged. Concern about how well you will do for an upcoming presentation may help you polish it to a higher level of professionalism. Concern about the competition in business may help steer you on a more productive and successful path. Concern about health may help you eat better and exercise. In these cases, worry has the positive effect of helping you deal constructively with intimidating or challenging situations. Whether it’s business, competitive sports, or just living, knowing how to worry smart allows you to improve your life.

So a bit of worry can be a helpful thing.

Of all the suggestions Kathryn gives she might like readers to remember a story she tells of her teenage years. The school, the classmates, and the teachers were all new to me. Initially, she felt like an outsider who didn’t fit in. Worry started worming its way into her daily thinking habits, as she wondered who she would sit with at lunch, who she would talk to between classes, or even just who might think that what she was wearing was unfashionable. Thoughts many of us may have had at that time in our lives. At about the same time, my family took a trip to a state park, where we went on a tour of a large, well-known cave. As we got into the middle of the cave, the guide abruptly turned off the lights to show us how truly dark it was. I had never liked the dark as a child, and the plunge into total darkness unnerved me. A lightning bolt of fear hit. I didn’t say anything or react outwardly, but I found my mother’s hand and held it until the guide turned the lights back on. For the remainder of the cave hike, I worried that the lights would go off again. Shortly after that, I started feeling uncomfortable riding in the backseats of cars or any place I couldn’t quickly leave. The pangs of apprehension had been amplifying and the expanding nature of fear had begun to kick in and chisel away at my life.

What I didn’t realize then was that anxiety can boil over from worry just like heating a pot of water. In this case stress fuels the fires. The time to intercede is before it makes a mess. The time to act is before it goes out of control. The time to make changes is before worry gets to the point of boiling over into anxiety. You do this by learning to recognize the warning signs of intensifying stress. For chronic worriers, that can be a challenge. The Worry Spectrum Learning to identify when you automatically kick into the worry mode is a key-first challenge. Only when you become aware of your mental chatter can you consciously choose to transform your harmful reactions into productive responses. Worry is energy. It is just like sunlight that passes through a prism to create a rainbow of colors. In this case, the light is your experience, the prism is your mind, and the colors are your thoughts

We thank Kathryn Tristan for sharing her thoughts and healing suggestions in her new book Why Worry Stop Coping and Start Living for sharing a comprehensive look at fear anxiety worry and the challenges of modern day life expanding worry into a full time pandemic which can be conquered once we understand why and how it is happening and ways to solve it.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have discovered the source of many physical and emotional grounds for fear and worry and how to recognize what needs to change in our own thoughts and actions so we can make choices to quiet from within many unrealistic fears.

Kathryn Tristan wrote, “When you shift your outlook about what is perfect, you begin to view your difficulties differently. You find creative ways of dealing with them. You empower yourself, dig down, and find the strength you need to handle your problems. It has been said, “Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered, and no one was there.” Once you see that our lives are shaped and molded by our reactions to what may, on the surface, seem to be imperfect situations, you take a giant leap out of worry and into power. Are you willing to accept and work within your perfectly imperfect world? Are you prepared to develop creative ways of dealing with your problems? Are you willing to consider them as challenges, not victim-producing disasters? Are you choosing the attitude that you can handle whatever is happening? This frame of mind empowers you and helps break the chains of worried thinking.”

Kathryn and I would have you begin to remember who you are as spiritual beings having a phyiscal life with the immense magnificence of your potential and personal power to create or manifest all that you hold dear with positive thoughts and moving always in a direction that honors yourself and others. Hold your truths and create love and compassion which are your natural state of being anyway.

  • A form of Self-Journaling and Scripting for Achieving Success

Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick author of the newest book in her trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which shares stories and messages from Spirit that show us our problems are not economic political or societal just a spiritual disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom and Sheryl is delighted today to welcome actor Royce Christyn from the Disney Channel and author of Scripting The Life You Want who will share ground breaking science focusing on journal entries that detail his big breakthrough to land a lead guest starring role on Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place.

As listeners of Healing From Within are well aware, the harnessing of energetic thought and action can make a world of difference in our health, happiness and our self -development. As spiritual beings having a physical life we must learn to use all our unseen talents and potential to thrive beyond what the physical world displays, and what is within us, to alter negativity and create positivity beyond fear and limitation. It is a process of living well that we seek to find and implement into our everyday lives. We create and transform reality.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Royce Christyn details a simple scripting process that harnesses the Law of Attraction and manifests much of what you want in your life—happiness wealth, travel love , health the perfect career or simply a good day. It might seem like magic to some folks but actually it is based on science intuition and inner life experience as well as an awareness of the true nature oflife.

Royce when asked to think back to his childhood and remember a person place or event that might have signaled to him or those close to what lifestyle he might choose as an adult immediately mentions his mother and grandmother who were open minded open hearted aware of the nature of intuitive life psychics and a higher reality.

Royce comes from a family who believes in serendipitous events, maybe even miracles. He tells the story of his mother and father who visited the small barrier islands where the border of Maryland meets Virginia the Assateague and Chincoteague Islands the weekend she knew she was pregnant with Royce because she saw a backward falling star that night not falling from the sky but rising up from the ocean and flying upward in an arc into the sky. Not believing in aliens, what could this phenomenon have been? At the same time she saw this she called her husband in from the ocean and then saw sharks nearby and was glad he didn’t become Jaws dinner. My mom and grandmother started teaching me concepts related to creating your own reality when I was very young. When most of my friends were going to Hebrew school and Sunday school, they were teaching me how to meditate and write down affirmations. So while the concept of creating my own reality was not new, creating on demand that I was learning was completely foreign.

Fifteen years later when the family was driving down to that spot and Royce’s mind was consumed with negative thoughts as a result of a fight with his best friend the batteries in his CD went out and my mom and I who have always been very connected noticed and handed him a book Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting by Lynn Grabhorn dealing with the Law of Attraction. My mom wasn’t into the book but Royce took a highlighter and began to absorb the thoughts and ideas. Though Royce was young, in his gut he knew that by selecting an ultimate goal and keeping that thought primarily active in our thoughts you could create or manifest the best things in your life.

One of the ideas expressed by Stephen Hawking author of Black Holes and Baby Universes who was a scientist who lived with ASL longer than most people wrote, “I have noticed that even people who claim everything is predetermined and that we can do nothing to change it, look before we cross the road.”

Sheryl Says…I always tell clients as an intuitive energy healer and medium I know nothing is random and we as souls are living out the journey we have created for our energy to refine and expand and while most people and events we encounter in our life are necessary for our growth, still we have free will and can make choices to approach how we handle any experience and that makes all the difference.

One of the goals Royce explores is to show how the chasm between science and New Thought or spiritual activity, positive thinking, vibrations and all the things many people call weird or woo-woo is even greater when it comes to the topics covered in this book. Elizabeth Svoboda in her self help book Saved by the Book concluded that some cognitively based self help books are effective and worth defending, while New Age and positive thinking books, it is thought by some, are the product of woo peddlers who cheapen the field. She discussed two assumptions that make it difficult to discuss self help therapeutics. The first group of metaphysical works such as the Secret and books based on clinical study.

Mitch Horowitz, who writes the Foreword for this book points in relation to types of self- help books and says that being upset about a lack of science is not relevant: for there is a place for science and a place for belief systems. The point is they are beginning to intersect and this book tries to share the value in both.

Sheryl says..she feels that until we merge the wisdom and knowledge of science, religion and spirituality we are missing part of the equation which helps us know ourselves in both our energetic and physical essence. Knowledge of both leads to unification of soul and ego- based mind reality. We find that the reason the science is not there is because of a massive lack of proper studies. Yet there is incredible new science on how we create our realities and it will blow your mind. When it comes to human vibrations, we have two groups of people both looking for the wrong thing. There is a real scientific field of study that proves that emotions, feelings and thoughts create our reality, but it has nothing to do with frequencies or even quantum mechanics…You have to decide if you believe in magic and miracles or not. Ofcourse if your lie has been lousy you may not, Contrary to what many think science is not the enemy of Spirit. Experience allows one to know what they believe and often it doesn’t come from books or other people’s ideas but from truly knowing something is real from your own reality.

In her book Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting Grabhorn discusses the basics of manifesting.

She has boiled her process of how to get what you want into b Know what you don’t want. Find out what you do want. Get into the feeling place of having the want(s).

Allow the thing you want to come into your life (aka be open to receiving or chill out and let what you’ve asked for arrive.

This book is very real and no nonsense. Royce calls out some teachers of manifesting as lying to their audience—why did you do this in your book? Royce writes, Look, I’m not dissing New Thought Teachers. Anyone brave enough to go into the public sphere and teach this stuff has my respect. Some teachers don’t even know they are lying or withholding key steps to certain methods. Why? Because whatever they are teaching has been repeated from the original source in SO MANY BOOKS over the past hundred years or so that the new teachers don’t even know they are lying. This is because at some point key steps were left out and then many authors and well- meaning teachers repeated the fill in the blank method or tool with the missing steps. There is no secret: there is just a pile of old discoveries and ideas being repackaged as new or hidden with missing steps. I’ve found that a lot of people are afraid to get down in the trenches, get their hands dirty, and test these methods. It took me four years fromthe day that I first read about scripting back in2003 to figure out the key to it and I was already working with the practice almost daily.

Mitch Horowitz who wrote the foreword for you book tells about RHJ or Roy Herbert Jarrett who prescribed the following process for attaining things you want in life

Write down your desires Think of your list constantly and Remain silent telling no one what you’re thinking. Then give thanks when your wishes arrive.

Yes people can use this process to help with healing physical illness or depression. It is possible with self investigation knowing yourself better and creating through journaling or scripting a vision and new reality that can manifest. When it comes to using scripting to And once you get to your highest level then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don’t isolate yourself. That’s the key. You have to be selfish enough to reach and achieve your goals and dreams so that you can then use the good you have acquired in your life to spread to others.

For the purposes of this book, there are some basic terms we need to know: wants(and their big sister intentions), beliefs, and scripts/scripting. A want is a desire plain and simple whether it is an experience, thing, place you want to travel to, type of person you want in your life or the way you want to feel. It is really important to keep your focus ON the thing you want and OFF the reality of it not being there yet. Intentions focus wants and the system to do this is:

Write down the following: I want today to be a great day. Stop for a moment and how that makes you feel.

Look at the statement and give it a rating from 1 to 10 with 10 being This feels really perfect! Now I intend for today to be a great day.

Analyze how that statement makes you feel. Rate that statement.

For me, it feels more like an 8 or a 9 So the word intention has movement and momentum to carry out the mission. People who have an interest in “The Law of Attraction” will tell you manifesting means bringing forth into the physical world a wish, dream or desire that begins in your mind.

In the dictionary Manifestation is defined as an occult phenomenon specifically materialization. Scripting and things in your Daily Want List are in many ways a waking visualization or wakeful mediation and even utilized by Olympians because it really works

Royce talks about memes and memetics—and how we’ve been misled by them. Scripting as a whole when done properly is all about taking control of your life and circumstances. Scripting at its core is just as much about getting into the feeling and focus place of having your wants as it is about taking the reins back from the outside world. Your life is YOUR life and you are now the sole writer, producer and director. A meme is an idea behavior or style that becomes a fad and spreads by means of imitation from person to person within a culture and often carries symbolic meaning representing a particular phenomenon or theme. Memes as described by Richard Brodie in his brilliant book Virus of the Mind can and do run your life probably to a far greater degree than you realize.” He goes on to explain that “the memes you are programmed with, even without considering the culture around you affect your life in every conceivable way. That’s why a virus of the mind is to be taken seriously. These viruses fill up your mind with memes—ideas attitudes and beliefs that make the results you get in life very different from the results you may want. Most of the time these people are strangers advertising executive anonymous people online, faceless government officials, publicists—who are implanting these memes into our lives. This is not a conspiracy fallacy. This is a real scientifically backed fact. The great news is that scripting overrides much of this and allows you a way out.

The book Scripting The Life You Want offers a tool- Scripting to assist people in really contemplating what it is they might want to create in their life, and gives details on how to use manifestation visualization and scripting to begin the process. How can we live our best lives and play the game if we don’t understand the world of nature, man and spirit. As spiritual beings having a physical life we must merge our talents and mind body soul to bring about positive thinking action and results that are truly understood before they manifest. Life is a journey of experience which has nothing to do with age, race, gender , socioeconomic factors, politics but is a creation of thought, love, compassion and Universal Source or the life force energy that brings everything scientifically and magically into creation.

One thing Royce might like people to take away with them after reading Scripting the Life You Want and what has always struck Royce when it comes to the world of New Thought or manifesting or creating your own reality and to eagerly embrace and search out scientific evidence that might back up claims that the world of science has often heavily shielded itself from the scientific world promoting doubt about what cannot be seen, but now we have physicists and scientists producing the most respected scientific peer reviewed journal on the planet and we find legitimate newspaper headlines like these: Is our World a Simulation? Why Some Scientists Say It’s More Likely Than Not.”

Parallel Worlds Exist and Will Soon Be Testable Experts Say.

And perhaps Royce’s favorite, “Are We Living in A Computer Simulation.”

So what is happening? What is magic? Royce is not talking about the occult or witchcraft. The word magic means the power of apparently influencing events by using mysterious or supernatural forces. Supernatural is related to an order of experience beyond the visible observable universe or departing from what is usual or normal, especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature.

Sheryl says that as an intuitive empathic medium who experiences more coincidence or synchronicities from Universal or the Unseen world each day, she accepts Royce’s description that Science Magic and Supernatural events are part of the world of energy or the unseen world and also very real and used practically are the basis for scripting our best life.

In Sheryl’s newest book in a trilogy A New Life Awaits: Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening she refers to the magic and awesome power of our personal soul essence as being able to create great beauty love and wonderment in our lives and for the evolution of humanity and writes,” In reading A New Life Awaits, Sheryl knows you will discover much synchronicity with your own daily observations and find comfort in validating many of your dearest wishes to live life in an expansive and bolder approach, creating new perspectives, new thoughts, taking you in the direction that your soul and heart were born to experience.

Unencumbered by the rules and limitations of societal or family systems that may have temporarily made you forget the amazing, loving, magnificent entity that you are that was born to walk in delight on our beautiful earth landscape and in spiritual light, you will find that a new life awaits you, and know you do not walk alone. As spiritual beings having a human life experience, readers will also take away withthem a greater awareness of human life in these tumultuous, changing modern times as we are encouraged to develop a more heightened and astute social consciousness in order to bring about worldwide cooperation when dealing with health, educational, medical, and political concerns affecting all of life: evolution in all our communities, spiritually and physically offering much needed new ways to go about eliminating injustice, the proliferation of crime, conquering disease, reinventing social graces and finding ways to integrate higher Universal Laws for wellbeing and success into our human daily lives. If we are being watched from above by those who live in gentler conditions than here on Earth and who, with love and hope for our advancement as a human species, expect us to expand and create more loving interactions and conquer warring impulses, the choice to do this is non-negotiable. It is a big project to awaken and realize your true potential as a divine force for change and improvement personally and collectively, but it is also amazing to learn the truth. I hope within these pages you will find a new beginning for your own evolution.”

We thank Royce Christyn, author of Scripting The Life You Want for sharing a creative and authentic way to merge science, art magic and spirit with a reality of soul based and ego based life so there is a plan that can make The Law of Attraction work all the time.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within Royce Christyn has detailed a simple scripting process for harnessing “The Law of Attraction” and manifesting the life you determine is best for you and that you actually want. Whether it is happiness, wealth, travel, love , health, the perfect career or home or simply a productive day, the process is backed by science and experience, yet it feels like magic. And all you need is a pen and paper and the honesty to dig within yourself to bring out through imagination the magnificent that lies in your soul essence.

Royce writes, “ Did you ever notice that the entire Law of Attraction/New Thought methodology seems to work best when you infuse strong emotion and passion into your want? Add that passion to the image of your goal and you will be on the right path to achieving it. Scripting does this, believe it or not, even though it is a process that uses words and writing.

Royce and I would ask you to think about the many memes that fill your head and heart and begin to select those that resonate within your subconscious memory of your brilliant light soul being that has your very best interest at heart and the potential to create possibilities that were once dreams, before they manifested. Life is the dream of your creation and you are the energy of eternal source.

Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick, Reiki Master Teacher/medium and author of her newest book in a trilogy: “A New Life Awaits,” which shares stories and messages from Spirit showing us that our challenges are not economic, political, or societal, just a spiritual disconnect from our true being or soul wisdom. Today Sheryl is delighted to welcome Danah Mor, author of “Shine Brighter Everyday,” a nutrition expert and Ayurvedic practitioner, placing balance and joy at the center of everything. As listeners of “Healing From Within” are so well aware Sheryl and her guests and share intimate insights into the nature of our physical and spiritual energies in order to facilitate a clear understanding of who we are and how we may begin to utilize the combined essence of our dual natures as energetic and physical beings to create healthy happy and fulfilled lives.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Danah Mor who works with a variety of people across the globe and whose credentials include a degree In Ayurvedic Medicine from Manipal Medical and certification from Hippocrates Health Institute. Her larger mission, MorLife Wellness equips people with tools for prevention so that they can thrive, and shine brighter every day.

When Danah is asked to think back to her childhood and remember a person, place or event that might have shown her or others around her the adult lifestyle and interests she might Danah tells us that she was nine years old her Mum introduced us to her dear friend, Dr Verma. We called him Verma G, the “G” denoting respect for elders in Indian culture. Verma G was a third generation Indian Ayurvedic doctor who was initially taught by his grandfather, a very well-known Ayurvedic physician in Agra, India. Ayurveda, being one of the oldest medical systems in the world, was naturally passed down through generations. Verma G was always laughing or dancing, singing or chanting, and it seemed like no problem or discomfort was ever too complicated for him. There was always a simple solution for everything. He was so much fun to be around. He made the most delicious meals, and we used to make food and eat all together and dance on our summer holidays in Israel. That summer, Danah had her first Ayurvedic consultation, and will always remember that Verma G told her she was predominantly pitta dosha, which meant she had a lot of fire element in her body’s constitution. He told her to take extra care in the summer season and to eat lots of cooling and refreshing foods, like watermelon and salads, and to drink a lot of water and fresh mint tea. He explained that it was very important that she eat on time (when hungry), and that if she didn’t, it could cause irritability and mood swings. With the help of her mum, we quickly adopted these suggestions, and before Danah knew it, she no longer got heat rashes, overheated, or had irritable mood swings! From that moment onward, she was in awe of Ayurveda. How could it know me better than I knew myself?

Danah Mor says she wrote this book because we all have the right to the truth, nothing but the truth. But somehow we don’t have access to it. We have become disconnected to the basics in life. If electricity stops tomorrow, we are all doomed. If I handed you a bag of seeds because that was all there was to survive, I think it’s safe to say that we would all be screwed. Most of us don’t know where our liver is, why our minds don’t stop, or what it means when our stomach hurts. We have lost our innate capacity to care for ourselves. I’ve met so many people that want to feel better, but they don’t know how. They’re off spending tons of money trying to buy healthier products, but fooled by health marketing. I’ve seen too many people lose their life at too young an age to diseases that are curable and preventable. I’ve met so many children and young adults who have lost their quality of life to conditions that are reversible. This doesn’t make sense. We don’t need to constantly suffer unnecessarily. Too many of us have accepted physical and mental discomforts as common day-to-day conditions. If so many diseases are preventable and even curable, why don’t we know how to prevent them? Why is knowledge used as power in our industry to keep people ignorant so that we simply can’t do it better? Knowledge has taught me that we are the only people responsible for our health. The medical model of our current society has become a business more than a service. Just like in any business the main goal is profit. There is no monetary gain in teaching you to prevent disease, if the main way the industry makes money is when people are sick.

Danah shares with us that” Most of us have become accustomed to disease, pain and discomfort in our bodies and minds. We are happy enough to have a body that simply gets us around, rather than making an effort to see how we could improve things for ourselves. Sometimes, even, we don’t want to leave our comfort zone of discomfort and disease; we prefer not to know and just stick with the disease. This book is about improving your quality of life, preventing disease, and manifesting the best version of yourself. It unlocks a lifestyle, a way of thinking – a state of being – that is in tune with your body, inspired by the unwritten laws of nature, cutting-edge modern nutrition science, the ancient wisdom of Ayurvedic medicine and my own personal experience. I’m urging you to have the courage to be interested and try a few little steps to see how your body responds and thanks you. You can only feel as good as you think you can. When I was around thirteen, I lost a large portion of my vision, and this has given me a new perspective on life. Ultimately, it has shown me how many things are possible. Life is what you make of it. It’s not what you have – it’s what you make of what you have. I can’t change my condition. But by perceiving my condition in a different way, I was able to overcome bigger barriers than most of us can imagine and as a result build a life that I love living. I did this by not focusing on my problem and what I couldn’t see, but rather focusing on what I could see. And I realized that I actually see much more than many people. I realized just because we have ears, it doesn’t mean we listen, and just because we have eyesight, it doesn’t mean we look. The curiosity to look without projecting an illusion is harder than I ever imagined. Looking without expectation, with courage to see the truth, is one of the hardest things I have come to learn. Your willingness is your biggest asset; wanting to be or do anything is the beginning of truly becoming the driver of your own life.”

Danah wrote, “From early on, it became clear to me that if I wanted anything in life, I had to work for it. My family was my inspiration in this. When they were young, my parents moved to a new country and built everything from the ground up – it had been my dad’s dream to have a restaurant serving delicious, healthy, not-so-fast food, and they did it. Both my parents come from families that made the choice to move and change, to choose life over surrendering to death. My grandparents survived the holocaust by running away and saving their own lives – while their siblings didn’t. My family has always shown me that nothing in life is impossible as long as you have the will and work hard to make it happen. When people ask me where I’m from, I’m not sure how to answer. As a teen I struggled with my own identity, as I was from so many places. Mum is from South Africa, Dad is from Israel, I was born in Amsterdam and grew up in Portugal. I also spoke fluent English, Portuguese, Spanish and French. Today I speak seven languages. What I am sure of is that wherever I am in nature, I feel at home. if there was any abundance, it was with food! The fridge was always full and the house was flooded with delicious aromas. My family was known for our fooI have always loved to travel and, d – always fresh and nutritious! Both my parents’ cultures revolve around food and hospitality. In mum’s culture, meals are shared on a single platter in the centre of the table, with everyone leaning over to dig in – often without cutlery. Meals are about communing and sharing with friends and family. They are what keeps us together. Every event at home involves food and everyone loves to cook. My brother even became a Cordon Bleu gourmet Chef! It was my mum who taught me about the relationship between food and the body, and how to listen to my body. As a kid, when my tummy ached, Mum always asked me, “What did you eat?” When I had a headache, Mum asked me if I had drunk enough water. I was constantly being shown that what I ate and drank were directly connected to how I felt. This made perfect sense to me even at an early age.

I have always loved to travel and, when my siblings and I were children, my parents would take us on wonderfully back-to-basics trips whenever possible – no five-star hotels for us! Travelling in this way meant that we would find ourselves fully immersed in indigenous cultures and natural ways of life When my siblings and I were children, my parents would take us on wonderfully back-to-basics trips whenever possible – no five-star hotels for us! Travelling in this way meant that we would find ourselves fully immersed in indigenous cultures and natural ways of life. One of my most treasured memories is drinking and eating at an oasis in the middle of the Sinai desert with local Bedouins after riding camels and hiking through the desert. The food was so colourful – so many vegetables with such amazing flavours. Another of my most memorable voyages was to Yucatan, Mexico, where we spent time with native Mayans. I observed their natural ways of life and noticed where modern commodities interfered with their natural lifestyle; realizing this first hand made me aware our modern world may be creating a gap between us and our natural source of vitality.”

Nutrition and a healthy lifestyle improve your lifestyle and outlook on life. The first secret to succeed in creating new habits is overcoming the challenge in finding better alternatives to what we’re used to. The second secret is to keep things simple and basic. The best way to change a habit is to change your perspective, the foundation on which everything roots from. Change your perspective, change your life. Everything new is strange at first, but we are creatures of habit. Once your mind becomes accustomed to the new habit it no longer finds it strange. We’ve created a new neural pathway. Take sexy small steps – they often lead to the best outcomes. Where change comes gradually and naturally it is far more likely to become a habit, rather than trying to enforce too many changes over a short space of time.

Mantras that are embedded in MorLife Wellness and this book!

MANTRA #1 Life is a joy. Life is a joy. Everything we do should be executed with a sense of joy. Anything that takes the joy from life should be paused, rethought, and done differently. The joy of eating, thinking, dancing, sleeping and being are all part of MorLife Wellness, which gives us the strength to make the best of our journey. Even when things suck and challenges arise, joy makes the ride so much better!

MANTRA #2 Food must taste absolutely delicious and wonderful, no matter what. As a nutrition specialist and health educator, I have never, nor will I ever, compromise flavour or the joy of eating for the idea of health. It doesn’t make sense. In fact, the foundation of proper digestion in Ayurvedic medicine is based on pleasing the senses. Eating tasteless food just because it’s “healthy” can result in indigestion and malabsorption.

MANTRA #3 It only works when you make it work for you. Things need to be do-able, simple, easy and fun, so you’re likely to repeat them day after day. Whatever diet or lifestyle changes you want to make, if they don’t fit into your current lifestyle then you’re not likely to make those changes. I learned this first hand.

Danah may have learned that health and wellness is not always about eating well and going to the gym. It’s about your mindset and how you think. How we think influences every choice we make. My approach to vitality is not a diet. It is a state of being, a mindset for a positive and sustainable way of life. I call it MorLife Wellness. It’s for anyone interested in living out the best version of themselves, preventing disease, or building a life that they choose and really love living. MorLife Wellness opens up a world of vitality. It’s a practical, fun approach to healthy living for busy minds. This lifestyle opens up an undiscovered world of flavours, colours, new ingredients, perspectives and thought pathways that make life a whole lot more fun! There is nothing better than feeling truly amazing from the inside out!

Danah’s book is beautiful with pictures showing the joy and movement of her life as well as how we function when we know how to take care of our mind body and spirit – how did you manage to put something so gorgeous together with partial sight- that must have been really difficult?

“Let food be your medicine, and medicine be your food.” Hippocrates, the father of medicine There’s no doubt in my mind (and in Hippocrates’ mind) that this is a fact. However, long-lasting health begins in the mind. Then everything else is effortless. Somehow, losing the capacity to see details allowed Danah to see the bigger picture. Rather than focusing on what I couldn’t see, she started to see life in a different light and from a different perspective, with form, colour and feeling. When we focus on the form, details are far less important. This is the foundation of her philosophy – because the way you think is important, before you fill in the content. I couldn’t let my eyesight limit me. What limits us the most nowadays is our mind – the foundation that culminates in our actions and choices. By changing, unblocking, removing the limits from our minds, thoughts and imagination, we are giving ourselves a new chance of life, a new opportunity to live freely and unbound. A chance to build a life you love,

Danah helps us learn about real food and some of the problems we all face in making good choices. Real food is whole food, unprocessed, unrefined, not packaged or changed in any way from its natural state. Whole foods have no added ingredients like sugar, salt, vitamins, or any other artificial substances and additives. They are foods we can recognize straight from nature, like avocado, wholegrain rice, quinoa, pumpkin, beans and almonds. No food is necessarily bad; it’s what we have done to it that changes its nature and its effect on our bodies. Love and eat real food as opposed to fake food. Today, we don’t know what life was like before packaged food existed on the supermarket shelf. Loving real food is about learning to recognize real, natural, non-processed food from the stuff we are told is food. WHAT ARE ARTIFICIAL PROCESSED FOODS? Any food that has undergone a treatment or processing, even if WHAT ACTUALLY I S R E A L FOOD? just removing the shell from a grain, like white rice or white flour, makes it a refined, non-whole food. Every year, 70,000 new products are engineered and sold in the supermarkets. Most of these foods don’t deserve to be called food. They’re packaged and marketed with fancy colors so that they trigger our brain receptors for impulsive consumption. Not only are many of these foods products of a laboratory, they are highly addictive and packed with chemicals that damage our body so much that often toxins can’t get out. Food manufacturers use scientific research on how the brain reacts and responds to texture and taste, and how colors influence human emotion and behavior, to stimulate our impulse to buy certain foods. This way they can guarantee that we will buy their products. It has been proven that color influences consumers not only on the conscious level but even on the subconscious level. Just to get an idea, research has shown that red is a powerful color known to stimulate and excite, heighten nerve impulses and increase the heart rate. Red enhances the appetite and stimulates a physical response – impulse buying, for example. Yellow is also an appetite stimulant. It makes people feel cheerful and optimistic. In fact, studies show that when we look at the color yellow, our brain releases serotonin (the “feel good” chemical), which can make us feel good about what we are buying – even if it is junk. Together, red and yellow evoke the taste buds and stimulate appetite. Now it’s clear why this is a common choice in the fast food industry!

Danah might like readers to take away with what follows them after reading Shine Brighter Every Day?

RESPONDING TO THE NEED Responding to these symptoms does not mean numbing them with symptomatic relief, like a painkiller. Your body is telling you something is wrong, so please try something different. For example, if your stomach hurts after eating something, try eating differently or different foods. If you have headaches, drink more water, or is there something in particular that is causing you stress? Try to relax more, exercise and spend more time in nature… it’s simple; just try anything different in a better direction.

Next time you feel discomfort, ask yourself if there have been any changes in your diet, activities, emotions and sleep. For example:

    • What did I do differently today, yesterday, this week?
    • Have I had enough water?
    • Did I get upset or angry?
    • When did this discomfort begin? What has happened since then?
    • What have I eaten in the last few days? Anything different?
    • Is this reoccurring? If so, try to notice what happened around these discomforts
    • Does it happen after a particular meal? Does it happen after an argument with your spouse? Does it happen when you stress

Yellow Alert equals An occasional mild pain/ discomfort, indigestion, or headache. Orange alert equals Medium pain, heartburn, indigestion, bloating and rashes. All mild, acute discomforts or yellow alerts that repeat themselves frequently including general discomfort/ pain, headaches, bloating, acid reflux and constipation are orange alerts. Continuous repeated and regular orange alerts.

When orange alerts become regular or chronic, they are red alerts, and if ignored or symptomatically treated, these mild symptoms can lead to serious long-term complications or disease.

For example, chronic constipation can lead to intestinal cancer and other intestinal complications. Uncontrolled heartburn can lead to throat, voice and dental problems, as well as asthma and other respiratory complications, if not worse conditions.

Most discomforts are triggered by emotional or/and physical events. By understanding the trigger, we can prevent the discomfort. For example, I have always loved homemade desserts, but I’ve linked them to my allergies. So I started experimenting and found that if I eat ice cream before 6pm I have no allergenic response. This could be related to the fact that my body has time to process the sugar before I sleep and therefore it doesn’t affect my system the following day. If you are eating something that is irritating your system and causing you discomfort as a result, this can be solved simply
