I don't believe that anyone gets married expecting to get divorced, but, it happens. Sometimes the divorce can happen even before the marriage. When I was going through divorce it devastated me and part of that is because I had no idea what a healthy relationship even looked like. In today's episode, we discuss what a healthy relationship looks like, and how to model a healthy relationship to your kids. What broken open means and more.
Have you taken a deep dive look at why you ended up divorced? Hard to understand until you've been there, in some cases the divorce happens even before the marriage takes place. Are there old paradigms & theories you were brought up on that you're holding onto today keeping you from discovering who you are and sending you in the direction of divorce? What does it mean to advocate for yourself? Can you be happy on your own? Did you pick the first person to come along and morph into that person? Star also includes parenting tips before during & after divorce.

Today's guest is Alastar Connor and we're discussing Divorce and its effects on you and your family.
Divorce is hard, no matter what circumstance you find yourself in. Did you marry even after you'd been warned not to? Were you tricked and deceived into marriage because you didn't know who you were and what you stand for? Did you get married because everyone else was getting married? Did you parents model a healthy marriage but you still ended up divorced?
What are Red flags, prior to marriage, that can lead to divorce? What are emotional or otherwise challenges we face before, during, and after divorce?

Be aware of the wolf in sheep's clothing! When someone tells you who they are, listen, but, when someone shows you who they are, now that’s when you pay close attention AND with laser focus. Your nature may be to be very loving and caring. You’re exactly what the predator is searching for. "Let’s get straight to the point, shall we. We go after vulnerable women. Yes, we target you and then we trap you. It’s what we do. It’s in our nature."

What is opportunity? According to the first definition in The Free Dictionary it means: A favorable or advantageous circumstance. Well, that’s not the definition I want to explore today. Conversely, I believe that any problem in your life is a chance for an opportunity. Ouch, Yvonne. The dictionary says a favorable circumstance and the last time I checked we don’t look at our problems as opportunities. That’s what I’d like to address, today…problems. Anytime most of us have a problem we look at it as, oh boy. Another circumstance that has come upon me.

Today, I’m going to navigate from my norm. I’m going to speak about a pet peeve of mine that…well, let’s just say, it takes me there. I’m not asking for opinions or confirmation today. This is all about me being in my feelings and speaking my mind. Yep, speaking my mind. I titled this one, What the He double hockey sticks are you thinking…he’s married. Why are you dating a married man? I don’t understand. I’m talking to you. You who either know he’s married because he’s wearing a wedding band; you who see the discoloration on his finger of where his ring used to be, that he just pulled off, before approaching you; you who was approached by a man who is married but is not wearing his wedding band and when you asked him if he’s married he said yes, but…

Trigger warning: I discuss the act of rape in this episode.
What did he or she say? They said something that hurt your feelings, made you think…what’s REALLY going on or said something that you want to believe so much that no matter what their past behavior was, you believe it anyway. Not only that, you continue to believe it until the lie hurts so bad…you have no other choice than to let that person go.
Did he tell you he loved you, but his actions showed something different? He said he loved me, but I keep catching him in lies. He said he loved me, but cheated on me. He said he loves me, but raped me.

Has there ever been a time in your life where you’ve felt that you’ve lost who you are? Lost everything you’ve built. I mean, the dreams you once had are gone. The person who would stand up for herself exists no more. The mani-pedi self-care days have disappeared. The long bubble baths where Calgon or Goddess Nectar Milk Bath no longer take you away to peace and calm. Books you used to curl up with in your favorite chair and read, no longer bring you joy or hope or peace. Where has it all gone? What have you traded it for?
Was there anything Abcde could have done differently? Maybe you could listen to the Podcast again with a few of your friend-girls, then have a real discussion.

This week you’ll find out if you’re in love or just addicted to love. Talkspace therapist Rachel O’Neill, Ph.D., explains, “You develop a pathological need to replicate the feeling of being in love when you’re addicted to love.”
When someone becomes addicted to drugs or alcohol, it’s something they are overwhelmingly convinced that they can’t do without. It gives them ‘something’ that makes them keep coming back for more. It makes them ‘feel’ a certain way that they don’t want to live without. Despite the fact that the addiction is robbing them of living a fruitful life, they just can’t seem to be able to live without it. But you can.

Are you practicing self-love? Not the narcissistic everything is always about me, love. I'm talking about being there for YOU. Listening to what your intuition is telling you. Doing the hard work and digging in deep to see why you feel unlovable...why you accept toxicity in your relationships.
