Flan, Ali and Spida talked to acting assistant commissioner Mark Stuart from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services this morning on preparing for Storm season on the Gold Coast.

With the several weather events we’ve had already this year it’s very fresh in our mind of how bad the Gold Coast can be hit. Mark tells everyone to make sure an emergency kit is always up to date which includes medication, batteries, and water.

Spida still can’t believe that people still attempt to go through flooded water when “if it’s flooded, forget it” has been running for several years and it’s marketed as much as possible. Mark says that not only do they put themselves at risk but also emergency services.

The biggest thing you can do to to prep for a storm is; making sure trees are trimmed, clear your gutters out, clean your ground drains as well so the water can get in and out as fast as possible.
