Hex and the City

This week opens with the Sun in Libra opposing Saturn in Aries on Sunday; the desire for harmony runs directly into Saturn's demand for accountability. Tuesday, Mercury meets Venus retrograde in Scorpio, and the week's most psychologically charged moment arrives: the planet of communication meeting the planet of love and desire in the middle of her retrograde. Wednesday, Mars in Leo sextiles Uranus in Gemini, and the creative and electric energy picks up considerably. The week closes Saturday with the New Moon in Libra, planting intentions around partnership and reciprocity while Venus retrograde is still doing her excavation work in Scorpio. This combination gives the new moon a powerful advantage.

We also chat with Jill Dearman, an astrologer and author who has appeared on the Woo Woo with Rachel Dratch Podcast and featured this month in Chronogram magazine. In addition to Super-Powered Astrology Jill is also the author of Queer Astrology books from St .Martins/1998 She wrote her latest book with Pluto in Aquarius in mind, believing the world needs superheroes now more than ever. Through her book, Super-Powered Astrology, Jill reaches readers how to use astrology to heal themselves and heal the world while also weaving in tarot, kabbalah, and I-Ching.

The post-full moon energy from last Saturday is still hitting us as the week opens, and then Mercury in Scorpio squaring Pluto hits at the end of the week, bringing intense conversations. Saturday, Venus stations retrograde in Scorpio, and energy around love, desire, and money turns inward for reevaluation over the next six weeks. Venus retrograde is rare enough that when it happens in Scorpio, it tends to feel like the universe pulling back a curtain to deeper layers of healing.

We also chat with Sarah Gregg and Jill Ritchie who founded The Intuitive Psychology Association, where they're challenging the idea that psychology and intuition belong on opposite sides of personal transformation. Instead, they believe lasting change happens when the two work together.

The Sun trines Pluto on Friday and what Libra season is clarifying finds transformative depth. Then Saturday the Aries Full Moon arrives with Chiron retrograde sitting directly alongside it and whatever has been living unaddressed in your sense of self gets a big moment of visbility.

Abundance Activating Pumpkin Spice Syrup:

I combine all these in a small sauce pan and cook on high, stirring clockwise to call in the intentions of all the herbs were workign with: 1 cup canned coconut cream instead of condensed milk bc it has a similar consistency 1/2 cup organic pumpkin purree with no additives- just straight up pumkin 1/2 cup coconut sugar OR Raw Turbinado sugar- I happened to have raw turbinado so thats what I used now the fun part with intentional herbs: 2 teaspoons of vanilla- for tranquility and healing 2 tablespoons of pumpkin pie spice - I love the trader joes one bc it has all these things in it you just need two tablespoons- but you can also mix individually: -1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon- for intuition and abundance -1/2 teaspoon of ginger for success and abundance -1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg for clairvoyance and third eye opening -1/2 teaspoon of lemon peel for cleansing and purification -1/2 teasoon of cloves for prosperity -1/2 teaspoon of cardamom cultivates balance - dash of salt to bring out the flavors and for protection. *optional = pinch of saffron for super platinum abundance and a pinch of damiana for passion, creation + sexy good times Though it's more work to use the herbs individually, the nice part of this is I like remembering their metaphysical properties and saying them out loud to myself as I stir them in.

This week balances momentum we've been craving with some kinda-needed reality checks. By Tuesday, Venus in Scorpio square Pluto in Aquarius turns the intensity up particularly around love, money, and power dynamics.

The second half of the week moves into deeper territory. Juno stations direct in Capricorn on Wednesday, bringing movement to commitments that have been under review. Thursday, Chiron retrograde re-enters Aries and takes us back into unfinished healing around identity and confidence (solar plexus lessons). Friday closes the week with Mercury in Libra opposing Saturn in Aries, bringing a serious tone to conversations and decisions.

This week may feel a bit like the kid at christmas/ impatiently waiting for a package energy and then Thursday arrives and delivers it all at once. Four significant transits land on the same day. Venus enters Scorpio. Mercury enters Libra. Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini. The New Moon in Virgo arrives. That is a lot of energy moving simultaneously and each piece of it is significant on its own. Saturday, Mercury in Libra opposes Neptune in Aries, and the week closes on a transit that asks us to look at where are dreams might need a little tweaking (and/or inspired action) to actualize

This week, the post-eclipse dust settles into more structured, deliberate Virgo energy. August closes, and September opens with two powerful back-to-back transits. Monday: Jupiter in Leo trines Saturn in Aries, meaning we get to close the month with one of the most genuinely supportive and expansive transits of August. (We deserve it after the eclipse season madness) Then Mars in Cancer squares Saturn in Aries and friction arrives that asks us to review what it is that we may have been rushing toward. The week brings a powerful green light and a reality check in the first 48 hours. How we navigate both sets the tone for the rest of the month.

We also celebrate the craft and intention of Virgo season with Founder of Violet Flame Choclates, Katrina Markoff. After redefining luxury confections through her first brand Vosges Haut-Chocolat with global spices and cultural reverence, Markoff turned inward to create Violet Flame: a deeper concentration of craft and consciousness.

Eclipse season (finally!) comes to a close with unexpected shakeups and big reveals

This week brings the completion we've been craving since the Solar Eclipse on August 12th. Eclipse season officially closes this week with the Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Pisces on Thursday, and the emotional and spiritual culmination it brings tends to be the most revealing moment of the month. Mercury moves into Virgo on Tuesday, sharpening the mental energy and adding an additional Virgo boost of precision and clarity right before the eclipse arrives. Thursday, the Sun in Virgo squares Uranus in Gemini, and the things that the eclipse illuminated meet an unexpected redirection

The energy this week finally settles after the intensity of last week's full moon and Saturn retrograde into something more reflective and deliberate. Chiron stations retrograde in Taurus on Monday, turning the healing conversation around self-worth and resources inward for the next several months. Thursday brings two significant shifts, Venus enters Libra, one of her home signs, and the Sun in Leo trines Saturn in Aries, bringing structure and ambition into alignment with Leo season's confidence. The week gets more serious, but in a productive way.
