  • Ep. 14 | Using Scripture to Prepare for Christ with Dr. Jon Skalski

We are joined this week by Dr. Jon Skalski to discuss his conversion story and the role of scripture in understanding the last days and preparing for the Savior. Meghan and Jon talk about the importance and patterns of the Bible, The Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants in communicating the wins and losses of peoples preparing to meet Christ in the past, and using these examples to prepare to more successfully meet Him in the future.  The conversation includes new insights on the parable of the ten virgins, food storage as an act of faith and spiritual preparation, the psychology of modern-day tribalism and the echoes of the ancient Nephite civilization we see therein, and how we can "treasure up the word of God" as our primary tool to understanding these challenging times, and becoming ready to see Christ perhaps in our lifetimes.

Dr. Jon Skalski is a professor of psychology at BYU - Idaho, with background in developmental psychology, counseling, and the theory and philosophy of psychology. His research draws from overlapping areas in the disciplines of psychology, moral development, philosophy, religion, and education. Evidence of his excellent skills as a teacher is seen in his 4.8 score on Rate my Professor.

Jon was a convert to the church at age 21 from the Catholic faith. He and his wife have 4 children. Jon enjoys playing basketball, coaching his sons, and dancing with his daughter.

  • Ep. 10 | Wars and Rumors of War

In a dedicated episode on this sign of the times, Meghan reviews the scriptural and prophetic statements regarding war in the last days. She reviews the prophecy on war as well as some of John's vision of our modern-day warfare. Meghan goes on to answer some frequently asked questions including: will there be another World War? What is the likelihood of a nuclear holocaust? What will take place in the United States during this period of time? Included is a largely unknown prophecy from Joseph Smith that indicates an interesting event that will reveal the "winding-up scene" is about to take place - something you will definitely want to know!

As always, be sure to stick to the end for the uplifting, empowering counsel we have received through scripture and from prophets to help us navigate these sorts of challenges!

She emphasizes our pre-mortal covenants and lessons that equip us to be instruments in the hands of our Savior. Each tool is shared with quotes and scriptures aimed at helping us view these otherwise common topics in a new and powerful light.

Also, Meghan discusses how we can know for ourselves whether Signs of the Times are significant in indicating that the Lord will soon be returning, verses them being natural and ever-present conditions of mortality on this earth.

Our guest Britt Larsen shares her perspective and experience from years of working in Washington D.C. and for a former Florida State Governor. We talk about divine interests and allowing the Holy Ghost to inspire us in how to get involved while also keeping our perspective on the Savior. From DC, she was recruited to be the Director of Communications under the Governor of Florida. She served as the Department of State Public Information Officer overseeing state elections and the on-camera official spokeswoman and speechwriter for the Secretary of State and agency of over 600 employees.

Britt then moved into the private sector and since has directed public affairs strategy and communications for political campaigns, startups and established enterprise companies. • Ep. 7 | The Cities of Enoch and New Jerusalem

In this episode, Meghan compares the circumstances of Enoch's day with living in the Last Days. She analyzes how we can expect to similarly build New Jerusalem, the Latter-day Zion, based on the pattern established by Enoch and his people as they built their Holy City, the Ancient Zion. She flushes out what we can anticipate in the future based on modern revelation on this topic.

In Signs in Real Times, Meghan speaks on the sign that the people in the Last Days would be "forbidden to marry". She shares recently published articles that highlight the modern movement to discount marriage as a  social construct that can be done away with or rewritten. Meghan emphasizes the counsel of prophets and apostles in regards to defending the divine institution of marriage.

  • Ep. 6 | Latter-day Roles of the 12 Tribes with Brother Ross Baron, Ph.D.

In this special guest feature, Brother Ross Baron teaches the origins of the 12 tribes of Israel, including what made Abraham chosen as ancient patriarch and as one who would covenant with Jehovah. We discuss what "the hearts turning to the fathers" actually means, and how we are a part of this ancient, you could even say eternal, legacy of obligation to and blessings from the Lord. Brother Baron shares his experiences while teaching at the BYU Jerusalem Center, including the miraculous events that took place to establish it, and which continue to occur in that sacred place. He gives his thoughts and historical context to help us better understand and respond to modern-day struggles in the Middle East. Brother Baron discusses the ancient symbolism and responsibilities of specific tribes, with emphasis on Levi, Ephraim, and Judah, and how all tribes are fulfilling their responsibilities in the Last Days. Finally, we talk about what can be expected in the days ahead for members of these tribes - also known as the "noble and great ones". DO NOT miss this incredible conversation - it will leave you convinced of your own great heritage, and will surely inspire you to boldly accept your own responsibilities to fulfill the covenants of the House of Israel.

Brother Ross Baron was born and raised in Southern California. He joined the Church when he was 18, as a convert from Judaism, and served a mission to Argentina, Buenos Aires South which was divided and then served in Argentina Bahia Blanca.  When he returned home, Brother Baron met, fell in love with, and married Kathleen Ann Bolton in the Los Angeles Temple. They have nine children (five boys and four girls).

Dr. Baron received a Bachelor’s degree from BYU-Provo in Finance, a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California (USC) in Religion and Social Ethics. He was involved in business and entrepreneurship before going to work as a full-time Institute Director CES Coordinator in Southern California at the Glendora and Claremont Institutes for the Church.  After twelve years as an Institute Director and Coordinator, He came to teach at BYU-Idaho’s Religion and Philosophy department in the summer of 2005 and commands an impressive 4.7 on Rate My Professor.

Bro. Baron and his family also lived in Jerusalem Aug 2018-Aug 2019 where he served as a visiting professor at the BYU Jerusalem center.

Bro. Baron has had a plethora of interesting opportunities throughout his life including swimming across the San Francisco Bay for the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon, winning a stove, a mop, and a barrel sauna on The Price is Right, playing the drums with institute students at the Hard Rock Cafe in Los Angeles, and playing chess in the US open Tournament in 1991, where he first played Arnold Denker, who had previously beat Bobby Fisher, about which he says he was worked.

Brother Baron represents an incredible example of what it is to boldly live the gospel, as he has often spoken at Christian colleges and universities, educating other sects about our faith. He once represented the Church on a History Channel special, and He also has led community firesides geared towards advocating for the church and which were attended by thousands.
