  • Fanatical Fridays Episode 28: Why Every School Needs an Enrollment Marketer

It's 2021 and there's still significant misalignment between admissions and marketing teams at colleges and universities. This misalignment stifles innovation on the student recruitment front—especially when it comes to adding new channels to the mix.

On this week's episode, Zach and Mickey discuss the significant growth in user activity and campaign performance that platforms like TikTok and Snapchat have seen over the last six months and speculate as to why less than 10% of higher ed marketers are running ads on either platform.

Tune in for an exciting debate on what incentivizes enrollment management teams to experiment with new strategies and which areas of friction prevent them from doing so.

  • Episode 77: Why Higher Ed Marketers Aren't on Snapchat and TikTok (And Why This is a Huge Mistake)

In the third quarter of 2020, Glacier surveyed 187 professional marketers at North American higher education institutions to gather a baseline understanding of their organization, the challenges their teams face, and how the pandemic has impacted the social media and traditional marketing tools they’re leveraging today.

On today's episode, Matt Diteljan, Co-Founder and CEO of Glacier, joins Zach for a conversation on the state of high school digital advertising.

Among the myriad topics discussed, Matt and Zach chat about two especially interesting findings that Glacier's report uncovered—the reported effectiveness of TikTok and Snapchat strategies and the lack of institutions currently playing in these ponds.

About 86% of higher ed marketers reported success in their TikTok strategies and yet only 1.9% of schools are currently advertising on the platform. In a similar vein, higher ed marketers reported a 64% increase in the effectiveness of Snapchat campaigns with only 9% of colleges and universities currently using the platform for enrollment marketing.

Tune in to the show for a greater understanding of where higher ed marketers are spending their budgets right now, and where Matt thinks they should be spending their cash in the near future.

This week's episode is brought to you by Squiz!

Squiz has so many exceptional products that are worth checking out, but the two we have been most impressed by is their custom site search product, Funnelback, and their Website platform, which is a true DXP.

For the next wave of digital natives, search is not ancillary to navigation, it IS navigation.

And Funnelback enables schools like yours to build custom, smart site search — so that your nursing program page actually comes up when someone searches “nursing” instead of that one nursing faculty event registration page from two years ago…

And their DXP?  It’s so much more than a traditional Website CMS. A DXP (Digital Experience Platform) is built to be the hub of your martech stack. It relies on powerful integrations, data management, and an OPEN platform. Get ready to meet the fastest, most powerful, and personalized website platform for colleges and universities on the market.

Today, the student experience begins online, not at school. And as an enrollment marketer, your job is to ensure that prospective students find what they are looking for as quickly as possible…

  • Fanatical Fridays Episode 26: Why Are Enrollment Managers Outsourcing the Development of Their Unique Value Propositions?
On this week's episode of Fanatical Fridays, Zach and Mickey ponder over a new, growing trend among enrollment management teams around the outsourcing of the development of their school's unique value propositions.
Hiring consultants to help with brand development, marketing, or digital advertising support isn't new, but asking a partner to help your team discern what the unique value of your program actually is? It's a growing trend among higher education institutions of all shapes and sizes. Is this a good thing? A bad thing? An okay thing? Find out on this week's show. - - - -

  • Episode 74: The Only Real Solution to Higher Ed's Relevancy Crisis
In a recent article published by The Chronicle, Paul N. Friga reported that higher education has lost more than $183 billion during the pandemic.
More so than ever before, schools across the spectrum are re-evaluating who they are, what their unique value offering is, and where they need to invest in order to survive.
On this week's solo-pod episode, Zach talks about what colleges and universities need to do immediately if they want to still exist in the next 5-10 years.
The key? It starts with a school's website...the digital space that has become the welcome center, the admissions office, the student center, and more in this unprecedented year.
Tune in for practical ideas on how to rethink the value your school's website delivers to prospective students.
