I mean the title of the episode is pretty self explanatory right? We're talking fictional heroes, those larger than life figures we used to pretend to be playing in the backyard or riding our bikes down the street. Sure they didn't consider things like property damage, bystander casualties, the laws of physics or frankly anything else, but that's why we love them.

Apparently there's a lot to unpack when it comes to the Knights Templar, from humble beginnings as a group of knights during the 1st Crusade meant to protect visitors to the Holy Land on the Pilgrim Road to basically becoming the Church's Black Ops unit and oh yeah, almost singlehandedly creating modern banking. When you become so powerful the King of France comes at you because he owes you money, I'd say you're a pretty big deal. Between the actual recorded history and the theories, we've crammed as much as we could into this one without needing lubricant. Join us won't you, you'll be happy you did.

It's one of the greatest feats of engineering in Human History. The Panama Canal was created to bridge the world's two largest oceans together in an effort to speed commerce and travel. Well that all well and good until you discover you gotta punch a trench through a country. Find out why Panama was chosen, how the French lost 20,000 workers, and why they had to pass the baton to Uncle Sam to finish the job.

What happens when you take mind control experiments started by the Nazi's in WW2, give it to the newly established CIA, and provide a bunch of money and no oversight to a bunch of assholes to research it? You get MK Ultra. The secret CIA operation to create assassins who didn't know they were assassins, spies who wouldn't remember information if captured, and interrogation that always got results. These guys dosed everyone, knowing and unknowing. They even have ties to Charles Manson. You've got a spare 2 hours and we've got what you need.

Depending on who's telling the events that transpired in 1971, you may hear them described as one of those three. You can decide for yourself after hearing what happened to cause the deadliest prison incident in U.S. History. A Riot caused by inhuman treatment ended with hostages taken and a portion of the prison in inmate control. Preconceived notions start getting cloudy in the Shoe-Dio when we cover what happens when you take basic human needs and rights from those society has overlooked. It a moral puzzle, how do you try to feel bad for the bad guy?

Religion is a touchy subject. With so many faiths throughout the word its hard to pick which to cover first...well actually......it wasn't that hard. Now if you were to start your own religion, I can't really think of a better way to grab everyone's attention than by making your church's deity the bad guy from someone else's story. But that's actually pretty misleading, most of their shit was about free-thinking, challenging society, and living life ones own way. Doesn't sound all too crazy when you say it like that, but don't worry, with a name like it has, the church had some crazy shit happening as well.
