In this episode, I had the good fortune of speaking with Craig Garrard better known as Boots.
This is the second time Boots has been on the Horse's mouth, if you haven't heard his first go back to episode 3 and give it a spin, in that episode boots was fresh off the back of surviving a brain aneurysm and as a result having double brain surgery, a truly wild tale of survival !
In this episode we chime back in on where he's at today, leaving his old business and starting the Joymill surfboard factory in Torquay, we had a great yarn exploring diet, health, modern pressures, surfing, following intuition to see what kinda ra ra you can extract out of your days on earth with loved ones and keeping the ship upright as we creep up there on the ol totem pole of age.

Well It's been 9 years and two months since Corey and I last spoke on the Horses Mouth !
WTF
Seriously feels a bit like yesterday, but it's not!
For those of you that don't know who Corey is, he's a master craftsman surfboard shaper, father, husband, and surfer, his lineage runs deep, through a close relationship with his late great father Rusty Graham, who guided him in the industry since he was a little tacker sweeping foam out of shaping bays of some of Australias best shapers and looking for the illusive brass magnet ! Corey has been on a wild ride of his own within his craft, losing faith, walking away, coming back, getting lost and emerging through blood sweat and tears to be renowned as one of Aussie's best surfboard shapers, and to solidify this further he's recently been invited to be one of eleven shapers in the Stab magazine electric acid surfboard test, huge honor.

In this episode I had the good fortune of chatting with Elana Connor @peregrinasails, Sailor, Captain, global traverser, she's sailing around the world solo but I can't not mention her trusty four-legged companion Zia, together on their trusty boat Winfola are sprinkling fairy dust one port at a time to those who need help the most, our kids and especially those of abusive households or in the foster care system, as a childhood abuse survivor, she knows exactly how hard it is for kids in this situation to find hope or role models, and knows exactly how much meeting one person and having a good experience with them can alter the trajectory of one's life.

This 100th Episode I had the good fortune of speaking with singer-songwriter Ella Sweeney.
Ella Sweeney is a force, She's such an awesome musician If you've not heard her music stop reading go to Spotify type in Ella Sweeney and give it a spin, Ella has performed all over the place, pubs clubs festivals weddings parties anything haha, as she discusses some of her earlier gigs this will make more sense! When she's not onstage she works in Youth Development which is such an important space to be giving ones time, especially in the modern world, So yeah she really walks the walk - and is such a great inspiration to kids and adults alike of what one can do to make community stronger and a better place, and when she's not helping the youth of Australia or on stage she can be quite often found lurking the coastal carparks looking for a surf ---- Just as long as it's not hair day !!

Max de Been is one of the nicest lethal weapons walking around in plain clothes, He's super happy-go-lucky friendly chiller - but don't be fooled - When he's not playing golf or surfing he's Gee'd up and coaching or rolling at DE BEEN Brazilian Jiu Jitzu Acadamy in Torquay which is the longest running BJJ Acadamy in Australia, Max's resume reads like a superhero, cast in a save the world Hollywood script, youngest BJJ blackbelt in Australia, youngest black belt National champion, 3rd Place World Championships, 1x Brazilian National Champion, 11x Pan Pacific Champion, 7 x Australian National Champion, 10 x Victorian State Champion, Now if that wrap sheet isn't getting on to your team of amigo's to help you save the world when the intergalactic baddies come, Idk who is !
But on a more serious note, Max is such a great human, feel lucky to know him and to have had the opportunity to chat on the Horses Mouth, thanks again Max.

June 23, 2024 DONNY 'THE DON' ALLCROFT
Donny 'The Don' Allcroft started life in England in the 1940s - From this day and age that period of humanity truly looks like the wild west, the shit you could do on the daily back then, would have you on the BBC top 10 most read in today's gentrified modern world. The Don Hails from this period, Good with his hands, he followed in his father's footsteps as a plumber, before moving to Australia in his late teens and being drawn into what was the beginning of a surfing life not just for him but for many that shaped what modern surfing is today!
It wasn't long before The Don was a local in Torquay and regarded as one of the great craftsman of foam - his passion, knowledge, and thirst have him still today highly regarded and connected in a league of legends, Shaping for Pyke, Ripcurl, Mark Richards, Dick Brewer and his own brand Sunbird Surfboards.
The Don is a true gentleman of the Land and Sea, He knows how to yarn with the best of them, and sometimes its a decoy so watch him in the water, one of the elders of Winki.
I feel privileged to have had Donny over for a chin wag

What a pleasure it was meeting David and his wife Claudia, thanks so much for the amazing experience and being so welcoming and awesome with me.
David is from Colombia, he now resides in Melbourne with his wife, and what a journey it has been for him, and how life throws us curve balls, David's dream from a young age was to become a Doctor, and he got there with flying colors, But was it enough ? were the lures of prestige and modern world too much? David went to the edge of life and death and is back to tell the story from an amazingly full and rich place he now resides in, in his heart, wiser, happier and still on a healing and being of service to others journey.

This chat I had the amazing fortune of speaking with none other than Jack McCoy, For those of you who don't know who Jack is you need to pull your head out of the bloody sand and slap yourself around the face, Jack is probably the most influential surf filmmaker of the past 50 years, his films, the cinematography in and out of the water, music choice and humor all have been game-changing in the industry. Jacks a long time hero of mine, his films shaped me at a time of my life when I was desperate for an anchor, and my imagination of living a life somewhat like what Jack was portraying in Bunyip Dreaming and The Green Iguana was second to none.
When Jack said yes to having a chat with me I was beyond stoked.
So if you're out there Jack, Thanks so much ! I super enjoyed the hang.
