Lindsay thinks the number one thing that stops us from doing things we want to do is… judgment.
Maybe you don't start the business you want to start or don't post the picture you want to post or actually quit what was a fantastic idea… all because of judgment. Judgment from strangers on social media or even judgment from family or friends… it's all toxic.
In this episode, we're going to train ourselves to care more about our opinions of ourselves than anyone else's opinions of us.
How to condition our minds so that a negative comment on social doesn't break us and worrying what other people will say doesn't stop us.
How Lindsay has learned to call out her own fails and misses- so there's really not a lot that people can say about her- she's already owned up to it and it takes the fire out of it. It lets us all move on from it.
We're talking about not letting judgment stop you from doing whatever it is that you want to do.
A few key points from this podcast:
There are a lot of people who will quit what was a million dollar idea.
Who wont ever make the podcast that will set their soul on fire.
And will stop doing the thing that was genius because someone was mean to them on social.
So the easiest way is to limit what you consume on social. But sometimes it can still get to you.
Here's the thing for Lindsay - any minutes she spends being upset about what a stranger says to her is minutes she's not spending cuddling her kids or building her business…
In the slowing down of 2020… it's made her think about all this stuff so much more.
It's crazy that people take the time to consume your content then leave a negative comment on it.
Like her podcast, when she sees a negative post or comment - she first sees if there is something constructive in there- and if not, she tosess it. She doesn't let it penetrate.
Because if you're putting yourself out there and doing things you wont be for everyone.
Heres the thing- that comment isnt about you- that comment is about the persona that someone has made up about you or its THEIR issue, not yours.
Lindsay honestly thinks… shit they must be so unhappy. Thank goodness I don't have to go home carrying all that stuff with me.
Lindsay doesn't let anyone else judgment override her own opinion of herself.
Own your losses! If you call it out, there's no fire to it.
Letting someone else dictate your life is immediate unhappiness.
Because you don't have control.
When you're 92 and youre thinking back- you wont care what that stranger said - or your aunt who's unhappy.
What are you stopping?
Lindsay hates how many people are judging without knowing. You are judging and you have no idea what is going on in their homes.
We all have short comings. Why cant we say - I'm good at this but not at this?
Are you really going to not lead your life because of someone's anonymous comments dictate your behavior?
You can ACTUALLY end up thinking these thoughts
It's your fault you aren't doing your thing… you're letting it in!!
You give up on listening - and you're clean and you can go!!!
Here's the thing… you only have so much time.
You have one life- it's much better to live it for yourself than someone else.
Judgment is the ultimate dream killer and it can completely control us. This episode is all about how to break free from that and do whatever it is that you want to do!
And that's awesome!!

CHEERS to sticking to your fitness routine!
In this episode, we are talking about so many little things that you can to do make your mornings run smoothly. So you aren't rushed and stressed and late and forgetting things… instead it's calm and organized and efficient.
Even if you have little kids in the house.
Lindsay is sharing a few of her favorite books on this topic and the best lessons she's learned from them.
The way your day starts sets the tone for the day. So let's make a plan so we are never stressed and rushed and crazy!
You know when you have such a crazy morning that you finally have a second to stop going in 100 directions and you look at the clock at it's 9am and you're like oh my gosh I'm exhausted it feels like it's been a full day already.
We're going to hack that today! How to organize your evenings so you are ready for the next day, and how to set-up the most efficient routine for the mornings so they run smoothly.
No more morning craziness for us!
Here are a few key points that Lindsay covers:
This is one of those topics that Lindsay wishes she would have researched long ago because now that she's read about all this stuff, she's like… how did I keep doing the same thing over and over and not realize it wasn't going to change and there had to be a better way?
Lets think of what your goal is:
Do you want more time for yourself
Do you want time to work out?
Do you want more time to get ready?
Do you just not want to be frazzled as you try to get out the door?
Finding time for yourself allows you to be so mcuh better at ALL the other things!!
Wake up early - go to bed early - none of this works if you are going to bed super late.
If you read the 5am club- its a great book for morning routine.
They say 7.5 hours is the sweet spot for having the most productive days.
Lindsay tries to be in bed at 930 and asleep by 10 and wake up at 5am.
Lindsay does the same thing on the weekends- she just pushes it back an hour - she wakes up at 6 and go to bed at 11am. She keeps pretty much the same routine. It keeps the momentum. But you have to go to bed at the right time. And it doesn't have to be drastic- just go to bed a half hour earlier than you are and wake up a half hour earlier … baby steps!
You know she loves an alarm on your phone to remind you of who you want to be etc.
So she has alarm at 8:30pm that basically says you have one hour before your ass is in bed.
Plan what workout you are going to do - so you dont loose time in the am!
Wake up without distractions - listen her podcast episode about a great Morning Routine podcast… she goes into lots of this.
We want to make sure that your mind is not distracted. Lindsay turns her phone off airplane mode so she can make sure nobody needs her or there isn't something urgent- but she's not checking email or social media. Once you turn it on- you can get into overwhelm.
Move your body early - have your workout clothes laid out! Saves you time!
Have breakfast planned - so none of this is like ok let's figure out what the hell is the plan for breakfast.
If you have kids, have a plan for their lunch or have lunches fully packed. Just think about whatever could end up taking your morning sideways and do it ahead of time!
Pick out clothes - layout 2 options so if the weather is different or they dont feel like one option, we aren't ending up in the closet together for 2 minutes. It's such a great routine to teach your kids too. Take the time while you have it to plan for the next day and really think about what you want to wear etc.
THEN tackle your most important 3 things. You have to go to bed with intention and know what your big goals are. It makes it less overwhelming! Just 3 things that you would love to get done. And do those first, when you are the most fresh.
Next up - face the hardest thing first!
There is a book called EAT THAT FROG
It's all about doing your hardest thing of your day first.
Take the most time consuming thing, or the thing you usually dread and eat that frog.
Then, reward yourself. For me it's always yummy food!
Also- drink your water early! We are talking about front loading your day here. You have the most energy- you aren't tired, you are your best. Let's get those most important things done first.
GOOD FOOD GOOD MOOD!!
Plan for healthy eating. Food prep, etc.
The minute you eat fast food or crappy food that you didnt want to eat- you're done. You've lost your energy, your body won't function the same.
FOOD is FUEL. You dont want sugar and junk slowing you down. And lots of times we just do this because we are in a RUSH. So we are going to crush that rush.
Ok so this one is awesome - at night - Lindsay challenges you to read 10 minutes at night. She loves audio books and online courses but she swears it's the best habit. She gets through one book a month now with just 10 minutes a day. It's amazing! This podcast is about morning stuff but it's honestly all the same. Going to bed on time and with a clear mind is so key for the happy and non-stressed morning.
The night before - lay everything out organized so you aren't dashing like whereeee is this?? Lindsay tries to put things in the same place and have them ready to go!
An awesome morning leads to an awesome day, so let's plan for it!!
Cheers!
Today on the podcast, we're talking about two simple words that can be oh so hard to say.
I'm sorry.
But really, why is that?
We are all human, we are going to make mistakes and we can't avoid saying "I'm sorry" because we have so much ego wrapped up in not being wrong.
It's like you're owning up to whatever happened, you're acknowledging your fault it in and you allow the person to move on and you allow yourself to move on too.
Lindsay has done podcasts on forgiveness before but this one is a little different. It's all about establishing a relationship with words "I'm sorry." It often can't change what happened, but it can change how long it goes on, or the resentment attached to it and also… it shows that you are being upfront and honest and vulnerable in the best way.
We're talking all about the I'm sorry's today!
Here are some of the points Lindsay covers:
When to say I"m sorry, what to say, what not to say…. and what does a proper apology even look like?
In business and in life… it's a sign of strength not weakness.
It's hard because we get defensive.
When you're sort of ashamed - its hard to continue.
When you know that you've wronged somebody- you just feel like something isn't right. Like a rock in your shoe.
A weight is lifted once you apologize.
You take responsibility - and you're less likely to do it again.
Even if they havent fully forgiven you - you've done your part.
If they do forgive you- that's even better.
It's like a deep cleaning at the dentist.
Don't say… Im sorry that you felt that way- that isn't sincere.
An apology is when you apologize for your action -not the result of that action
That is what taking ownership looks like
It's vulnerable and raw - dont play the victim though
Past, Present, Future
Listen I messed up - past
Im very sorry - present
And I will try my hardest not to do it again - future
Now how can I make the present moment better? FORWARD MOMENTUM
This is so much better than sitting guilt, shame and vicim mentality.
You aren't indebted to anyone else.
Ask yourself- do you want to stay stuck or do you want to move forward?
You can liberate yourself!!
Be grateful for the lesson and move forward
Some people have a hard time forgiving ourselves and other people have a hard time forgiving others.
We've all made plenty of bad decisions - and hurt other people in some way
And promise to be more mindful and try not to do it again or something you didnt do or overlooked.
Not forgiving is a form of self imprisonment.
It takes a lot of your own self love to apologize.
I'm still a good friend - I'm going to own that and I'm going to apologize.
It doesn't mean that you're any less of a person - you cant get down on yourself and run yourself down
It's great for your self esteem!!
Sometimes - it's just saying I'm sorry is enough.
We need to try not to always rationalize ourself within that.
ALSO- the correct way to accept an apology.
When the person is ready to apologize, stop putting your foot on the gas and keep going with it.
With kids- it's SO important.
We cant add SHAME into how we teach our kids to apologize
We need to make it easy- not hard for them to apolozie - you know how we are like - SAY YOU'RE SORRY RIGHT NOW!!!
These kids havent been molded by society - we learned these habits- let's break the cycle and learn a new cycle
Today can be day one- dont regret it or beat yourself up. Just think of this as a new start. You know better and you do better.
When saying I'm sorry with your spouse… research says men listen for 3 sentences. So plan what you want out of the conversation. DO you want an action to be taken? Do you want to be heard? Do you want an apology?
Do you want them to do something differently? Know going into it …
"It really hurt my feelings when you said that comment."
THEN YOU STOP TALKING - you have their attention.
You cant expect the person to have the perfect response.
It might take her time to reflect and digest and come back to you.
Know that you got it off your chest - and your side of the conversation feels good.
You cant expect them to give you exactly what you are looking for
You knew you were coming in with this conversation - they could be surprised by it.
And often times people are defensive - and you have to be ready for that.
Allow them space to come back to you if you feel like thats needed. It might not be solved at that moment.
Being able to say "I'm sorry" is just so good for you, and good for the people you love. Cheers to healthy, happy apologies!
One of the biggest lessons of 2020 is we have to be able to pivot.
Lindsay thinks that changing your mind is often seen as a bad thing but it's actually brilliant. It means we are learning and we're growing and we're willing to adjust when things need adjusting.
Lindsay thinks that by not pivoting we sometimes allow ourselves to stay stuck. So many people have had their lives turned upside down this year.
So many things that many of us have worked for... didn't happen because of Covid or weren't at all what we hoped or thought they would be.
And as much as it feels awful at the time Lindsay thinks sometimes a good kick in the gut can benefit you. It can force you to be tougher… and it can force you to pivot.
Lindsay talks about how she used to be resistant to pivoting because she felt like she was accepting that she was doing something the wrong way just before the pivot. But that's all wrapped up in crazy unnecessary ego. Lindsay is talking about why she loves the whole concept of pivoting and why she thinks you will too!
In this episode, we're squashing MOM GUILT. Now, we are all going to have conflicting feelings from time to time but today we are hitting pause during this episode to really shift our mindset around feeling guilty as a mother.
Ok, so this is what we are going to do. We are going to figure out what our values and prates are and make sure they are actually ours and not ones we have adapted thinking they are ours - when actually they are societies or from people we know or things we see on tv or social media.
This is our own individual journey of motherhood. And it's going to change and it's going to fluctuate so we are going to get a good system down for making the best decisions for right now, then not feeing guilty.
Lindsay's goal by the end of this episode is to help you feel free. Free from the paralyzing feeling that we aren't doing enough or we are missing moments… and instead realizing that you have to feel fulfilled as your own human too. You can't pour from an empty cup and your people want your energy more than your time. Realizing that most of it is probably in your head, and you're agonizing over something that doesn't exist and wasting precious time with your kids by worrying. You are doing a great job and you aren't going to feel guilty for being your own independent and productive and happy human, in addition to being an awesome mother.
Here are a few key points Lindsay covers:
️ Guilt vs. shame.
Lindsay thinks guilt can be a helpful took to recalibrate.
Shame is not good - that's what we are working to avoid here.
️ Shame - when you made a mistake as a mom- thats a different topic- lets take that off the table for now. Like when you lost your cool with your kid, make a mistake etc.
️ Dont keep it a secret.
Lean into vulnerability
Lindsay says it out loud- it helps her learn from it.
Plus your guard is down so others are willing to show up and share their stories and embrace vulnerability.
️ Being able to step into vulnerability in our everyday interactions and also be mindful.
Not everyone has earned the right to share your shame story. Tell the people who you can tell and then you have SUPPORT!! And you aren't feeling isolated! We should never feel lonely.
️ So be brave- let your guard down - you will see that most of these feelings are the most universal!!
Everyone feels like this!
️ SHOULD - messages that we get from society.
Sometimes it come storm our own idea- our mom friends - our culture - these expectations are often reinforced my media culture.
️ But what we have to do … is think of what WE should do.
️ The point is to be who you should be- according to your own priorities.
️ Let's unhook from what others think we should be and how we should be.
️ So we need to be fully aware - of what is important to us and what we have decided vs what we are getting from society.
️ And we are going to constantly recalibrate.
️ And know and understand that if we arent happy and WHOLE- we aren't giving them the best of us. So whatever it is that you need - a facial, a night out with your friends… yes you miss those minutes with your kids…
But you also come back FULLY whole and so happy to feel alive and like your own human for an hour or a night … and same thing with vacations.
️ It's HARD- Lindsay tells a story about her husband going on an upcoming trip without her. She decided to stay with the kids. It's a give and take and always a compromise.
️ Make the best decisions you can for each day- then move on. Decide, then go ENJOY IT! Don't go on vacation and call them 700 times and talk about how guilty you feel.
️ In fact, Lindsay thinks you should stop even talking about it at all - especially AROUND your kids.
️ Lean into showing up - connect with the right others - be able to offer empathy and through our connections -to be more aware of socities proirtieis so you know what is yours and actually not yours
Then you can explore and redefine what is important to you - and what motherhood looks like.
️ If you're pregnant- Lindsay thinks you should spend time NOW reading and listening to podcasts on this stuff so you are ready for this stuff- and you'll have tools to handle your feelings.
️ Lindsay also thinks we should also be open to therapy!! It can be such a great tool and resource! Again- this opens it up.
CHEERS, to no more mom guilt!

It's time for a good self audit. It's a value audit.
How are you spending your time?
How are you spending your money?
Lindsay talks about how a lot of us have an idea of what we think our values are - but unless we audit the process… we actually have no idea of what our values are.
It's not our perception of how we are spending our time and money… it's how we are really doing it.
Then ask yourself- it aligned with what you think and say you stand for?
There is often a gap between the desired values and the actual values.
The intention needs to be transferred into real behavior.
Lindsay shares the process of how she's does a weekly self audit and how she thinks you should too!

She shares her journey to buy less and purge more. And to have less attachment to "stuff" and end the never fulfilling cycle of buying more.
Lindsay talks about getting in your 10s each day and how that can help you focus on what's important in your life.
As a recovering "more is more" type person, Lindsay shares how she's now learned that life isn't always about reaching the next level- but more about trade-offs. Going through how important it is to know your values so you can make the right decisions each day. Focusing on gratitude and teaching our kids to appreciate what we have.
We're talking about enjoying what we have now, while still being driven to reach our goals. It's a tricky balance and can be complicated to work through.
