Dental caries A.K.A. “tooth decay or dental cavities” is the most common noncommunicable disease worldwide. Cavities and tooth decay are among the world's most common health problems. They're especially common in children, teenagers and older adults. But anyone who has teeth can get cavities, including infants. Cavities are permanently damaged areas in the enamel, the hard surface of your teeth that develop into tiny openings or holes. They can affect your general health and will usually causes pain and infection. If cavities aren't treated, they will get larger and can lead to a severe toothache, infection and tooth loss. Dental caries is an expensive disease to treat, costing between 5–10% of healthcare budgets in industrialized countries, and is one of the main reasons for hospitalization of children in some high-income countries. On this show we will discuss the causes as well as the natural and safe way to prevent and treat this serious dental problem.
