In this episode, I am joined by two-time author, Shantelle Bisson. Her Amazon bestseller and a second nonfiction book, Parenting Your Teen Without Losing Your Cool, is a thought-provoking, fun, light-hearted handbook that helps parents raise functioning adults during the challenging days of navigating teendom when all you seem to do is “lose your cool.”
We have a conversation about parenting and how to raise your children without losing your cool or your mind. Shantelle found that she didn’t have the right tools or resources when raising her children and would often feel “hot-headed” in parenting moments. Today we are sharing exactly what those tools and resources are.

Two-time author Shantelle Bisson was born and raised in Toronto and splits her time between Toronto, sunny Los Angeles, and her marina that she purchased in 2018, Shantilly’s Place, in the Kawartha region of Ontario. Her Amazon bestseller and a second nonfiction book, Parenting Your Teen Without Losing Your Cool, is a thought-provoking, fun, light-hearted handbook that helps parents raise functioning adults during the challenging days of navigating teendom when all you seem to do is “lose your cool.” Along with being an author and producer, Shantelle, a recovering actress, has three beautiful daughters and one four-legged son with her husband, Yannick Bisson, star of Canada’s number one drama series, CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries. Shantelle has recently expanded her Without Losing Your Cool brand with a three-month daily journal, and a weekly podcast; that can be found on all your favourite podcast channels.
Shantelle also gives back to her community: she’s on the committee of Childhood Cancer Canada and has been co-chairing their main fundraising event, The Purple Party (now One Golden Night) since 2012. Her involvement has helped raise more than $1.5 million to date. She’s so passionate about the work that CCC does for kids fighting cancer that she recently joined their board. Shantelle and her husband also give generously to the APJ fund, supporting kids in Haiti by sponsoring their secondary school. Additionally, they sit on its Canadian Board and Advisory Board. As a childhood sexual abuse survivor, Shantelle recently joined forces with Boost for Kids, an organization that supports children who have experienced sexual abuse. All under one roof, they collaborate with police, child protection, and medical and mental health agencies to provide an individualized and child-friendly response for every single child who has sadly experienced abuse. Shantelle’s life has been centred around children since she became pregnant with her first daughter at nineteen, so it comes as no surprise that her charitable endeavours focus primarily on kids in need, and she writes books to help raise them well.
Shantelle Bisson’s mission is to educate, support, and uplift parents through humor and authenticity while they’re in the thick of the biggest jobs of their lives: raising their children! My goal is to empower parents to raise kind, generous, thoughtful, empathetic, tolerant, and resilient humans who will go out into the world and leave it better than how they found it, all without losing their cool.
