Today's guest, New York-based interior designer Lilse McKenna creates homes that are rooted in tradition and tailored to reflect each client’s personality and lifestyle.
Prior to establishing her firm, Lilse worked for esteemed interior designers Lindsey Coral Harper and Markham Roberts. She credits both designers for teaching her not only the art of decorating residential interiors but also the skills required to execute projects of all sizes in a timely and organized fashion. Layered in various furniture styles, patterns, and textures, Lilse’s interiors provide her clients lasting sophistication and comfort.
Lilse has been featured in House Beautiful, Real Simple Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and One Kings Lane, among others. We know you'll enjoy this conversation! It's one you'll want to share with a friend!
In today's episode, Emily updates listeners as to the current BTS of the podcast after scheduling episodes throughout the beginning of Season Two! These conversations have inspired Emily and our team to continue to look ahead, as the winter will turn to spring, and season two is HERE!
We hope you enjoy this candid update specifically talking about next week's The Southern C | Summit Conference in Sea Island, Georgia. Emily's take on negative DM's, constructive criticism, podcast growth, guest recommendations (ah!) and so much more!
As always, Emily hopes to share these brainstorming (with no notes!) episodes with you is to 'pull back the curtain' on what it looks like to start a business from the ground up - in her case a podcast. If you listen and enjoy - we'd love to hear from you on Instagram: @HowdSheDoThatPodcast or by leaving a 5-star review on iTunes & Spotify! THANK YOU!
On today's episode of HSDT, Emily welcomes J. LOWERY Founders, Margaret Boyce, and Jamey Gresham onto the show!
In today's episode, our host Emily Landers welcomes Natalie Steen to the first episode of the year! Natalie is a Cuban-American, Miami, Florida native living in Houston, Texas. Natalie is a lawyer with a good creative bug and a bad online shopping habit, which together led to the creation of The Nat Note. Think of it as a virtual note dropped in your inbox from Natalie herself, sharing products that catch her eye each week.
Natalie's personal style covers a little bit of everything: She loves bold prints, colors, and embellishments as much as she loves classic stripes and versatile neutrals. Natalie has a passion for party wear and fun accessories but appreciates and seeks out pieces that she can wear to her corporate job.
The Nat Note is Natalie's attempt to condense all the above into a newsletter that she hopes brings some joy, welcome distraction, and buyer’s high to everyday life. We know this episode will be encouraging to all of our listeners, one you will likely want to share with a friend!
Today’s episode is a quick and special thank you to all of our listeners from host Emily Landers.
We are so grateful for the amazing support that YOU have given us over the last two years! In this episode, Emily expresses her gratitude for such a kind and caring community and also shares her hopes and vision for the year ahead. As always we are so grateful to our guests who make this podcast possible by sharing one of their most valuable assets - their time!
We can’t wait for all that’s in store for season two and are so excited for you to continue to join us each week to be encouraged and inspired by our HSDT conversations! Let’s do it!
Merry Christmas! Our 2021 Christmas Special is now LIVE!
Today’s episode is a family affair! Emily is honored to welcome her husband, Luke, onto the program as well as her twin sister, Whitney. Listen in to Luke’s Dream Hallmark movie, yes, you read that right, and Whitney’s thoughts on creating her own family traditions before her firstborn son joins us next year. Both guests bring a touch of Christmas cheer, lots of laughter, and heartfelt conversation to us this week. Join us for our second annual HSDT Christmas special!
If this is your first time listening, please make note that while this episode is so much fun, it is not our normal Tuesday episode, you can find those anywhere you listen to podcasts. We will be back in January 2022 with our regular programming.
Until then, Merry Christmas and a very happy new year!
On today's bonus episode, Emily welcomes her Insta-Friend, Nan Philip onto the show!
Nan is the founder of Nan Philip Consulting. A graduate of Middlebury College, Nan’s career started at Blitzer & Company, a boutique PR firm in New York City, representing top interior designers and home brands. From there, Nan joined the team at Weezie Towels, a direct-to-consumer startup, to manage their PR in-house and be part of their marketing team. Afterward, Nan took her experience to a larger company and joined the marketing team at J.McLaughlin, a clothing brand with over 100 stores throughout the US.
In early 2020, Nan forged her own path and started Nan Philip Consulting where she offers public relations and strategy services to interior designers and lifestyle brands. Nan works with her clients to spread awareness for their brands through various channels, from press placements, influencer partnerships, consumer-facing marketing strategies, and more.
We dive into all things social media, authenticity, and finances on this episode and we know you're going to enjoy every moment while listening!
On today's episode, host Emily Landers welcomes Addison Bay founder, Marguerite Adzick, onto the show!
Addison Bay was founded after Marguerite's passion for fitness as a collegiate athlete merged with her successful career in the fashion industry. Recognizing a need in the industry for a single, quality platform with functional and stylish activewear, Addison Bay launched in September of 2018.
Marguerite resigned from a job she loved – at six months pregnant! – to start Addison Bay, with the idea that fashion-forward activewear was here to stay. The problem she was trying to solve? Finding activewear that was polished yet comfortable. “I wanted to have one look take me from school drop off, straight into the office, on to drinks with my husband, and home with our kids. Creating this one-stop-shop was the solution all busy, on-the-go women needed, including myself.”
We know you'll enjoy hearing Marghi's story - the last guest episode of the year for HSDT and one we know will encourage many!
