Hello everyone,

Sadly, I missed last week’s introduction into Clay-en’s season due to a little virus known as COVID wrecking havoc on my immune system. I’ve been writing about this silly show for nearly twenty years, and the idea of missing an inaugural post of a brand new season just wouldn’t do.

Insisting I quarantine from my roommate Lara, I watched the glory of Clayton’s season unfold on an iPad in my germ-infested room upstairs. I knew absolutely nothing leading up to that moment. Traditionally, Some Guy in Austin and I record a podcast detailing our top-tier picks of the season. Unfortunately, the aches in my bones and my eyelids’ insistence on remaining droopy eighty percent of the day hindered me from adequately preparing for the great event. Instead of spending the week learning names and stalking Instagram accounts, I developed genuine feelings for my trusty bottle of NyQuil and a love/hate relationship with the act of swallowing.

In other words, I went into this episode blind. And it was glorious. Some Guy in Austin and I discuss all the important things you need to know, like:

Michelle has decided on the final two who will continue to galavant around Mexico, vying for her heart. We all have to be okay with it, even though her choice doesn't' technically make sense to some.

It’s that time! Hometowns are here, and we get to see a bunch of dysfunctional people try and puzzle through how their loved ones could fall head-over-heels for a complete stranger in a matter of weeks. I’ve said it once, and I’ll probably say it again, but I’ve had a carton of milk in my refrigerator longer than Brandon has been falling for Michelle.

Unfortunately, we didn’t see many crazies in this episode. I guess Michelle actually has a decent group of men in her final four. Or the guy’s parents didn’t extend an all-expense-paid trip to Minnesota to the wackier branches of the family tree.

Well, at the beginning of this bachelorette episode, showrunners made sure Michelle beat it into our brains that next week is hometowns. If the tradition of the previous seventeen seasons remains, quick math results in the astounding conclusion that four men will be standing at the end of this two-hour extravaganza, and four losers will be sitting silently in the rejection SUV, wondering where they went wrong.

Some Guy in Austin and I break it down for you. We answer serious questions, such as: 

Does a person’s ability to churn butter make him a likely husband candidate?Would you wear your girlfriend’s father’s swim trunks if you were promised a make out session in a hot tub?How do you impress a gaggle of fifth-graders?

Some Guy thinks the answer to that question is sugar. I think the answer to that question is jokes.

Then things really go off the rails and we laugh for way too long. Feel the freedom to hit that little fast-forward button, should the spirit lead you. It will not hurt my feelings.

Hello everyone!

I want to start this episode off with an apology. I was attacked by the crud last week, which kept insisting I lay horizontal no matter how I insisted that things needed to get done. In the end, it was the podcast that suffered the host's wrath that took up residence in my body. For that, I apologize. I rarely miss an episode, and I appreciate those who reached out to ensure I was not in a ditch somewhere.

Fortunately, my voice came back a few days ago, and I rallied with Some Guy in Austin so we could nitpick Michelle's roster to see who exactly is here for the right reasons. In my opinion, it's only Granny Smith Rodney, but I'll give these other jokers a shot at winning Michelle's heart. And how might one do that?

Well, for starters, you don't act like a junior high boy and ignore her at the church lock-in slumber party. Some Guy thinks the producers told the men to ignore Michelle and play with teddy bears and popcorn machines instead. I have a different theory.

Boys are stupid.

Well, it’s episode two, and Michelle is already crying, debating whether she should have hopped on this particular train wreck to find love, and I’m not happy about it. There’s some weird protective instinct I have when it comes to her, and I’m slowly beginning not to trust any of her cast.
