In the latest episode of iGaming Daily, host Fernando Noodt is joined by Charlie Horner and Joe Streeter, to analyse William Hill's monumental decision to exit markets including Nigeria, Vietnam, and Bolivia, a move described as "cold hard business".
Parent company Evoke is scaling down the UK's oldest gambling brand, choosing to focus Hills on its domestic presence. The trio discuss the reasons behind this shift, including navigating regulatory turbulence and political volatility in global markets, and how Evoke plans to leverage William Hill's strong UK retail portfolio (over 1,300 locations) while relying on the 888 and Mr. Green brands for international online expansion.
Additionallly, the three explore whether prioritising the brick-and-mortar segment over international online growth marks a new chapter for the brand.

In this episode of iGaming Daily, supported by Optimove, Charlie Horner, Ted Orme-Claye, and Joe Streeter, discuss Sky Bet’s decision to relocate key commercial and marketing decision-making roles from Leeds to Malta.
The primary motivation is tax efficiency. The move is estimated to save Flutter tens of millions in tax. Independent estimates calculate corporation tax savings alone at approximately £31m, moving from the UK’s 25% rate to Malta’s 5% rate. Further savings of £15m to £20m annually may come from joining an EU VAT group.
The timing of the announcement, just ahead of the Labour budget, has sparked controversy, fuelling trepidation about the UK economy among operators. Although the Leeds office remains open, the relocation of roles is seen as a setback for the northern tech hub. The practice of shifting domicile has received political scrutiny, including being raised at Prime Minister's Questions, where it was framed as a move to dodge tax.
The trio question whether Sky Bet, a "very British institution" due to its EFL sponsorship and Sky Sports links, is simply late to adopt the low-tax jurisdiction model used by many major operators.

Welcome back to iGaming Daily, supported by Optimove, the leader in positionless marketing and player engagement. In today’s episode, host Charlie Horner and Managing Editor, Jessica Welman, unpack a major industry rift and a notable consumer protection lawsuit.
FanDuel and DraftKings have ended their seven-year membership with the American Gaming Association (AGA). The split follows last week’s news that both operators are openly pursuing sports-related prediction market deals. Welman says the move made it clear that “we’re breaking up, for real,” underscoring the companies’ willingness to ditch their trade group to advance prediction-market ambitions.
The AGA has long opposed prediction markets, calling them indistinguishable from illegal sports betting, and the departure reflects the long-standing divide between land-based operators (like MGM and Caesars) and online-focused companies. FanDuel and DraftKings likely resigned before a formal membership vote.
The episode also covers Baltimore’s lawsuit against the two operators, accusing them of violating local consumer protection rules through excessive advertising and questionable VIP practices. A federal judge remanded the case back to Baltimore City Circuit Court, seen as a win for the city.
