Inger Shaye Colzie: Self-acceptance and reframing your ADHD

Listen Later

Episode 42 with Inger Shaye Colzie.

"Your struggle is your struggle. It's real and it's valid. Sometimes you can get it all done, and sometimes you can’t make dinner."

Inger Shaye is an ADHD coach and psychotherapist specializing in making a difference for Black woman executives and entrepreneurs with ADHD. She has successfully run her practice, Alchemy Coaching & Counseling, as a therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 15 years in spite of being undiagnosed until in her 50s.

We talk a lot about the specific struggles face by women with ADHD, especially as mothers, and the difficulties articulating those struggles for ourselves and others, and even determining where we’re struggling and how to quantify that.

We also discuss coping mechanisms for ADHD, and the importance of advocating for yourself as a woman, a women of color, as a mother modeling for your ADHD kids.

Make sure to check out the Professional Black Women with ADHD Coaching Collective designed specifically for professional black women who live with ADD/ADHD to help them develop strategies that really work for tackling everyday challenges. Find out more at ingershaye.com.

Inger Shaye has a list of accreditations a mile long and is a wealth of information and an absolute joy to interview, so I know you’re going to get a lot out of this episode. Enjoy!
