There is a reason why we say "coming out" It's because more times than ever, it is hidden, and the shame that comes with that burden is incredibly heavy. 

So today, I am saying screw this, and I am sharing my story coming out to my homophobic Arabic parents in hopes that maybe it will make you feel a little bit less lonely on your journey. 

Most movies & tv shows portray coming out scenes in their most "ideal" situation, but the truth is that not everyone has it easy. Some people born in more traditional or religious families might experience an incredible amount of resistance from their surroundings, and that happily ever after might not be the case for all of us. 

I, unfortunately, fall under the second category, the one where coming out ends in a forever cycle of shame and feeling misunderstood. But, luckily there is a bright side to all of this... And, I am sharing it with you in today's episode.
