It’s a shocking headline this morning, the father of actress Hayden Panettiere announcing her death, saying she was “an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her.” While there is no official cause of death yet, Panettiere had just released a memoir in May where she wrote about her struggles with postpartum depression, addiction, the sudden loss of her brother and painfully handing over full custody of her daughter to her ex-fiancee. Tributes have been pouring in online; friends and fellow actors expressing disbelief that Panettiere could be gone so soon.

It feels so good at first: someone is seducing you, telling you you’re perfect, lavishing gifts and experiences on you, and then it shifts. We go over the traits of love bombers, how they begin with praise and then end with manipulation and control. While not all love bombers become emotionally abusive, experts say to be wary of a partner who resents your boundaries, personal interests or friendships.

A researcher in the science of happiness has written a book that teaches us all how to feel more loved. Professor Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky says previous research on happiness has focused on the love we feel FOR others, but she makes the argument that what truly makes us happy is the love we feel FROM others. How do we get that feeling? By changing our conversations. If we intentionally have conversations where we listen to learn, where we don’t interrupt or give advice or turn the topic to ourselves, our partners will feel more loved and, in turn, will become more willing and even eager to do the same for you.

A battle for custody of a newborn baby boy, whose parents wanted to terminate after a serious medical diagnosis, is brewing in Texas. The baby was born this week after the surrogate carrying him, McKenna West, refused to get an abortion at the biological parents’ request when he was diagnosed en utero with a life threatening heart condition, and fled to Texas “for protection.” The baby is in the custody of his biological parents and currently being treated while the legal battle plays out in court.

British police found 41-year-old Dr. Jason Arday unresponsive in his South London home on Friday, just weeks after the young professor resigned from his position with the prestigious Cambridge University. When he was named professor of sociology back in 2023 at the age of 37, he became the youngest black professor in the University’s history. He soon became the subject of questions and scrutiny for some of his published work and his seemingly remarkable personal backstory where Arday claimed he was non-verbal until age 11.
