I talk about the challenge of distinguishing whether a relationship is nurturing or draining, highlighting the complexity that arises when individuals bring their past wounds and challenges into the dynamic.


The discussion touches upon the importance of being aware of one's own emotional baggage and past experiences, which shape beliefs and behaviors in relationships. I share an example of a client who ties their self-worth to success, illustrating how childhood programming influences adult relationships.

The conversation also introduces the concept of regulating the nervous system, especially during moments of stress. The I stress the importance of practicing regulation techniques regularly, not just during stressful times, to build resilience and strengthen emotional regulation.

Finally, the discussion explores automatic behaviors in relationships and encourages listeners to examine the underlying fears that drive these behaviors. The ultimate focus is on identifying and pursuing deeper desires, such as emotional connection, rather than getting caught up in habitual responses that may drain energy from the relationship.
