Layne Beachley joins Flan, Ali and Spida this morning as she talks about Stephanie Gilmore taking the World Record. Steph is officially the greatest women’s surfer of all time, winning a record eighth World Surf League crown.

Layne talks about Steph and says “it was remarkable, she really stood up to the challenge and showed the world what she’s made of. Pure grit, determination, tenacity and then beauty grace and style. I was incredibly proud of her”.

Spida reminds Layne that she is an inspiration to all surfers and especially locals on the Gold Coast. Layne says “yeah I am extremely proud and I’ve really worked hard and fought for a lot of equality while I was there on tour for 19 years”.
