Jessica Moorhouse, is an award-winning financial content creator, Accredited Financial Counsellor Canada®, speaker, media personality and host of the popular More Money Podcast. Like many millennials, Jessica graduated university during the Great Recession with student loans to pay off, no job, and zero idea how money worked. As it turned out, she wasn’t alone. The lack of relatable and non-judgemental financial education available inspired her to found MoorMoney Media Inc., a financial education company that includes online courses, her YouTube channel, and one of the leading finance podcasts in Canada with over 3.7 million downloads – the More Money Podcast. Jessica is also a regular on-air TV personality appearing on CTV News, CBC News, and BNN Bloomberg and is often quoted as a money expert by major publications such as Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, and Financial Post. She is currently working on her first book with HarperCollins Canada set to hit bookshelves in early 2025.
In this conversation, Jess discusses the connection between fitness and finance, empowering women in the financial space, overcoming barriers as a woman in finance, gaining confidence through podcasting and media appearances, exploring the relationship between mental health and finance, and the impact of upbringing on money mindset and more. Jess discusses her experience moving from Vancouver to Toronto for more financial opportunities. She highlights the challenges of the housing market and the impact of generational wealth. Jessica also explores the role of shame in personal finance and the need for empathy in money conversations. She shares insights on investing beyond real estate and provides end-of-year financial planning advice. Finally, Jessica talks about her upcoming book on money psychology and where to find more information.
