Jess is an in real life friend. We met a few years back when she was a pastor and I was still a worship leader we have been unraveling our evangelical upbringing together ever since. Jess was born and raised inside of the evangelical movement. along with many other girls that grew up with Dobson's  "true love waits" Jess was subjected to the harmful teachings of purity culture. I believe Jess has a very unique perspective, as her parents along with her older brother who is not chopped liver have all deconstructed.
