TKK fried chicken opened its first store in Manhattan at the end of 2018. The store teamed up with Kung Fu Tea to operate a combo store offering fried chicken and bubble tea. Priced at $8.49, it includes one piece of chicken, one side, and a so-called kwa kwa bao, an invention that’s become a signature of the chain. What is kwa kwa bao? It’s sticky rice shot with the shiitake mushrooms. But it’s not wrapped in a lotus leaf as it’s often seen at dim sum restaurants.
