Junk Food Dinner

We're back with another installment of Junk Food Dinner - Original Recipe and this month we continue our Ani-May celebration with three horror-themed animated films!
Up first, stop-motion stalwarts Rankin and Bass team up with a few dudes from MAD Magazine and Boris Karloff for a theatrical monster mash like no other in Mad Monster Party? from 1967.
Then, Toei Animation Studios in Japan join forces with Marvel Comics to revive Mary Shelley's classic monster tale in anime form in The Monster of Frankenstein from 1981.
And finally, several amateur  animators attempt to recreate George Romero's classic zombie film using a wide variety of animation styles and mediums in Night of the Living Dead: Re-Animated from 2009.
All this plus Guardians of the Galaxy 3 chat and all the best promotional tie-ins, Kevin's travels to the drive-in, Parker's sad theater news, Sean's Letterboxd beefs, new dark fairy tales on the big screen, a new Living Dead flick, the hottest blu-rays and so much more!

Our month-long tribute to animation continues with another Ani-May pick: the bizarre and internet-centric SHREK RETOLD (2018)!

But before that! Inspired by Shrek, we chat about our favorite fairy tale movies, if only we can figure out what that even means.

So #DonloydNow and enjoy this bite-sized Junk Food Supper. We got all this plus Parker's newborn baby report, the Guardians of the Galaxy report, other things we've been watching, yeah we briefly become a wrestling podcast again (deal with it), various dog noises, an exciting selection of next week's pick, a trifecta of voicemails from a voicemail legend, blurps, bleeps, bloops and "also" so much more!!

Welcome back, Junkies! We kick off Ani-May, a month-long celebration of animation, with our friend Hatless Jackson Stewart, director of the very good movie, "Beyond the Gates."

We start of with a round of The Good, the Bad and The Ugly discussing our favorite and least favorite comic book movies.

Then we review "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" from 1993. It's a movie some say is the best Batman movie of all time. Is it? Tune in to find out!

We swear we're not a wrestling podcast. The fact that Mean Gene Oakerlund appears in Repossessed (1990), the movie we're reviewing this week, is an absolute coincidence.

But before that! Inspired by Repossessed, we pitch our own comedic sequels to existing (non-comedic) movies! It's just for fun (but patents are also pending).

So #DonloydNow and enjoy this bite-sized Junk Food Supper. We got all this plus voicemails, Parker's big award-winning week, we secretly turn into a wrestling podcast again, Kevin drops, a cookie-based recap of an Anaheim Angels game, the Scream situation, and more!!

We're back with another episode for the Junkie Universe!

First up, we discuss shitty video games and the post-pandemic world and then we get into this week's big topic: Our Top 3 and Bottom 3 favorite and least favorite wrestling titles. Sorry if you're sick of hearing about wrestling! Then, in this week's review, we discuss "Ready to Rumble" from 2000. It's about wrestling! Can David Arquette and Oliver Platt save the real and fictional WCW wrestling company with this movie? Only time will tell!

All this plus voicemails and sliced thumbs!

Andy always dreamed of wrestling, and Parker and Sean have always dreamed of a wrestling-themed episode of the show. So why not combine the two? And throw in a fun new installment of Good/Bad/Ugly that's also slightly wrestling-adjacent.

We start the episode with our Wrestlemaniachats, recapping the time Sean laid eyes upon Ric Flair!

Then! Good/Bad/Ugly: times we weren't sure whether a piece of media was real or fake! It sounds weird, but we'll explain it. Hopefully.

Finally! It's Sean's Dance-Adjacent movie pick: the Andy Kaufman "I'm From Hollywood" semi-documentary where we learn all about his adventures in the world of Memphis Wrestling. Listen in as we mark out for Andy. All this plus voicemails, Foxy Native American Butter Mascots, a lack of double doors, recreating scrotums from memory, jeopardizing Parker's meat-lover pizza-eating, how cows do suicide, the surprising variety of pornos indigenous to the woodlands of europe, and more!!

We're back with a brand new bag, Junkies!

Kevin is enjoying his semi-reitrement but Sean and Parker and back with the very first Junk Food Supper, a spin-off sequel. First, we explain the new show and figure out exactly what it is -- LIVE! We answer the big questions. What will we review? Will it be Jurassic Park? What exactly is the format? What's up with the Patreon? What is a Freado pick? When will Kevin be back?

Then we review our first movie ever, "Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo," a Cannon classic. All this plus voicemails!!

This week is a monumental episode of JFD! Not just because it's our 13th anniversary! Not just because we're recounting our top 5 and bottom 5 movies over the past year of JFD! Not just because it's almost 4 hours long! But this episode is also the end of an era. This is our final regular weekly show! Not to worry, though, Sean and Parker will return next week with Junk Food Supper, the new abbreviated weekly show AND the gang will reunite once a month to bring you that classic JFD flavor you've come to know and love!

So, since this is our final week of regular weekly shows, we're going out with a bang and reviewing 3 classic cult flicks!
Up first, it's been called "the best worst movie" about a family that goes to live in a strange small town for a month but quickly realizes the town is full of goblins (not trolls) in the infamous Troll 2 from 1990.
Then, Charles Bronson is a no nonsense cop who's looking to take down a child sex trafficking ring while wrestling with his own prejudices against the Japanese of this country in Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects from 1989.
And finally, we discuss the granddaddy of all cult musicals, The Rocky Horror Picture Show from 1975 starring Richard O'Brien, Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf!

All this plus calls from our fans, updates you can use, arguments over films we've already watched, cable TV memories, video store memories, art house theater memories, and so much more!

This week: a major milestone in JFD history - the very last ever final PATREON PICKS show!

Up first! Mr. Brian commands that we conquest the countryside with our crew from Camelot, in John Boorman's 1981 fog-fest Excalibur, a movie about a sword (and a King Arthur who wields it).

Next up! Justin D requested we Raid Atlantis with a rowdy rabble of rascally rockers, in Ruggero Deodato's 1983 flamethrower-fiasco Raiders of Atlantis, a movie about gunfights (and punk rock biker gangs).

Finally! Of course, it's 1987's Siesta, because Kevin E requested it. And we all understand what this movie is and why it would be requested, so we'll say nothing more (it's a movie about boobs).

All this plus Bowman's ringtone revealed, important show updates, unimportant baseball updates, critical Waffle House updates, all the hottest slang, how to create the ultimate podcaster, a pizza roundtable discussion, acceptance speech impediments, Atlantean disco, nerd news and even more! Recorded National Learn About Butterflies Day, 2023!!
