  • JFD344: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Jack Frost, Feeders 2: Slay Bells
It's Christmas, Junkies! Grab your candy canes and egg nog as we settle into three holiday-themed movies. First, it's the MST3K classic, "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians," where aliens kidnap Santa in an effort to bring Christmas to Mars. Talk about cultural appropriation! Next, a serial killer is turned into a mutant snowman via "genetic material" in "Jack Frost." Finally, the Polonia brothers return to JFD with "Feeders 2: Slay Bells," the sequel to the SOV alien invasion flick we did a long time ago. This time with more Christmas! All this, plus we reveal the (controversial) winner of the JFD 1,000th movie poll! Hint: Here's the final tally: All that plus Nerd News, VoiceMails, Junkmails, an assassination?!, nice words about Beyond the Gates, cool songs, DVDs, Dr. Strange Chat, LaLaLand Chat and so much more! • JFD343: U.S. Open Sores, Butt Bongo Fiesta, Private Parts
This week, we pay tribute to our radio idols Howard Stern and Robin Quivers with a duo-hosted episode sure to surprise and offend. Instead of our usual line-up, you'll join Shock Jock Parker Bowman and his charming co-host Sara (from IllCon) as they crack open three classic "films" from Stern and his wacky band of weirdos. First up, it started as a joke, but ended up as a very real Nassau Coliseum tennis match between Howard and his producer Gary 'Baba Booey' Dell'Abate. This weird relic of 1989's fascination with radio hosts also includes appearances from Al Lewis and Sam Kinison, and an early collaboration with Billy West. The great film of which we speak is of course U.S. Open Sores. Next! There's only one way to fiesta - Butt Bongo Fiesta, from 1992 (interestingly listed as "Pornographic Film" in Google's sidebar classification). This infamous pay-per-view special (and home video release) featured all of the Oscar-winning scenes involving Lesbian Dial-A-Dates, John "The ZooKeeper" DeBella, racist tirades, and of course the titular butt bongos. You'll burn your Academy membership if they don't retroactively grant this several Oscars. Finally! How could we do a Howard Stern theme show without doing 1997's Private Parts? That'd be a stupid thing and so we didn't do that. Instead we talk about it. It's a pretty solid biopic starring some good actors, a group which surprisingly includes the core radio cast. All this plus witty banter between friends, Kevin's in Boston, Sean flouting corporate vacation scheduling, the return of the toy-based film franchises, aspirational levels of pettiness, the longest butts on earth, a really cool sounding LAPD t-shirt, them news and Blu-ray Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, sneezes, belches, decrepit erections, gleeks and a whole lot more! • JFD342: Death Game, Marley's Revenge, Don't Breathe
This week's episode of JFD preys on your most secret of fears; your fear of being terrorized by unstable young girls, your fear of being kidnapped by drug-hating rednecks or your fear of unkillable blind veterans. Let's face it, this is the real shit keeping you up at night! Up first, a well-to-do middle-aged man (Seymour Cassel) is home alone when his wife and kids go out of town, but his solo weekend is interrupted when two young girls (Sondra Locke and Colleen Camp) knock on his door looking for a place to get out of the rain. But after the two seduce him, things quickly turn ugly as the girls begin to threaten and terrorize him throughout his home in Death Game from 1977. Then, we resurrect a super obscure, low-budget regional horror film from North Carolina, Marley's Revenge: The Monster Movie from 1989. In this flick, two goofy pals are trying to do... something with some refugees when they are preyed upon by rednecks vigilantes who think they're smuggling drugs. But shit really hits the fan when the zombies and alligator monster show up. And finally, we continue to delve into some more of the cinematic interests of 2016 with Don't Breathe. In this tense crime thriller/horror flick, directed by Fede Alvarez (director the Evil Dead re-make), three Detroit youths break into the house of a blind, old veteran hoping to score some cash, but end up getting more than they bargained for. All this plus witty banter between friends, Love Witch love, Sweetman's analysis of horror-themed wrestlers, Hatless Jackson, Britain's new porn rules, the burning of punk memorabilia, Chinese Mad Max rip-offs, Blu-ray Picks, the best song ever about picking up girls, continued lack of overt police involvement, and a whole lot more! • JFD341: Fateful Findings, The Wailing, Officer Downe
Welcome back, snack packers! First, writer/director Neil Breen stars in "Fateful Findings," a 2013 movie about a writer who hacks into the most secret national and international government and corporate secrets. He also has superpowers. Next, a bumbling South Korean cop investigates a strange illness and its supernatural origins in 2016's "The Wailing." Finally, an undead cop protects a surreal fantasy version of Los Angeles in "Officer Downe," based on the Image comic and directed by a dude from Slipknot. All this plus video game chat, weird voice mails, Kevin Smith chat, dvds, nerd news, new bumpers and other tight shit. • JFD340: Something Wicked this Way Comes, Return to Oz, Fuzzbucket
Well, freeze me cryogenically and call me a racist! This week, JFD investigates the weirder side of Walt with three cult Disney flicks! It's debatably kid-friendly! First up, it's the movie that Disney didn't want us to see, but we tried to see anyhow! Jonathan Pryce, Pam Grier and a freak-filled carnival show up in rural Illinois to freak out some kids on and off screen in 1983's Something Wicked this Way Comes! It's probably the weirdest, sexiest horror movie ever released under the Disney banner! Next! There's no place like home, not even the Emerald City, which has seemingly gone all A Clockwork Orange in 1985's Return to Oz. This sequel to the 1939 family classic stars Fairuza Balk, some weird New Age punk rock rollerblader guys, a headless princess, and an electro-shock technician. It's one of the more surreal movies ever to feature ham sandwiches growing on trees. Finally! We watched 1986's Fuzzbucket, and I don't even really wanna talk about it, to be honest. All this plus witty banter between friends, the wildest skype noises ever, goofy shoes, Sean's impeding funerary plans, speaking of 'dark as fuck', the return of The Fallen One, maniacal Memphis grandchildren, one of those sad nerd news faces, the vvurther advventures of the dirvvector of the vvitch, lively space zebras, a 1979 movie, they don't understand stuff so good, a literal peanut butter solution, them news and Blu-ray Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, sneezes, belches, decrepit erections, gleeks and a whole lot more! • JFD339:The Human Tornado, Petey Wheatstraw, Disco Godfather
If you're feeling low and ain't got no class, allow this episode to rock your motherfuckin' ass! This week JFD celebrates the badass Rudy Ray Moore! We are joined by Joe from Vinegar Syndrome, who have recently released some lovingly restored blu-rays of the films reviewed tonight. Up first, Rudy reprises the role that made him famous as Dolemite, in the sequel The Human Tornado from 1976. In this film Dolemite and his friends (including a young Ernie Hudson) find themselves on the run after he is caught in bed with the racist sheriff's wife. Next, things go to Hell as we tackle Petey Wheatstraw: The Devil's Son in Law from 1977. In this film Rudy plays the titular Petey Wheatstraw, a world famous comedian who knows kung fu. But after he and a bunch of his friends are gunned down at child's funeral, he makes a deal with the devil to make things right and get revenge. And finally, Rudy curbs the cussing and puts out a PG-rated anti-drug flick called Disco Godfather from 1979. In this one, Rudy plays a disco owner named Tucker whose nephew gets fucked up on PCP. Tucker takes matters into his own hands to take down the creeps selling the dope and messing up his community, all while busting some sweet disco moves. All this plus witty banter between friends, pre-election attitudes, angry voicemails, Skype hiss, nepotism, Blu-ray Picks, funk and disco jams, continued lack of overt police involvement, and a whole lot more! • JFD338: Django, Flesh Gordon, Hot Resort
We're nursing our Schlocktober candy hangovers at the JFD offices this week. Parker's out sick, but Cory from Illogical Contraption is here to fill in! First, a stranger gets involved in a border clash between Mexican bandits and the KKK in 1966's original that spawned infinite unofficial sequels, "Django." Next, a sexy porn parody of the serialized space superhero saga, "Flesh Gordon," from 1974. Finally, a group of horny teens get jobs at a Caribbean vacation spot in 1985's "Hot Resort." All this plus Nerd News, DVDs and Blu Ray Chat, Sad Nerd News, Horror Host Chat, Racist Jackson, Is Sean hunting humans, Playful secrets and so much more! • JFD337: The Crow, Murder Party, Tales of Halloween
Happy Halloween, Junkies! Your charming pals at Junk Food Dinner are here to help you get your spookiest week of the year kicked into spooky gear. Are you ready for ghosts, ghouls, goblins, and all the creepy crawlies of the night? We'll haunt your podcast feed with scary tales of the time we watched these three seasonally-appropriate flicks! First up, it's a borderline Freado (according to some), when Parker Bowman selects 1994's The Crow! Brandon Lee stars as a goth-Bronson arisen from the grave to pull a Death Wish in maybe-dystopian Detroit. It's a pre-post-apocalyptic bloodbath, with more birds! Next! We listen to the listeners and listen to our hearts by reviewing 2007's Murder Party. Jeremy (Blue Ruin, Green Room) Saulnier's debut feature is a claustrophobic, comedic horror about a Halloween party gone awry. If you like cardboard boxes, you've probably already seen this one. Finally! We get anthological with 2015's Tales of Halloween! Have you ever wondered what it would look like if you crammed ten shorts into an hour and a half runtime? These filmmakers (including Neil Marshall) did, and the results may surprise you! All this plus witty banter between friends, feelin' Schlocktobery, haunted house noises, our continued battle against the Demon Skype, getting scurred, Godzilla chats, Sad Nerd News and Spooky Nerd News, a time before DVD Beaver, a solid number two, you're going to hell, a really shitty Gremlins kinda thing, flipping laserdiscs with Shelby Cobretti, Spoopy Blu-ray Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, sneezes, belches, decrepit erections, gleeks and a whole lot more! • JFD336: The Shining, Sleepwalkers, Thinner
In an effort to get even further into the Halloween spirit this Schlocktober, the JFD boys break out the old Ouija board to conjure some ghosts, and lo and behold, guess who we brought forth; the ghost of former host Mark Freado Jr to talk about three Stephen King-penned films picked by the Randomizer 5000. Up first, all work and no play makes Jack Nicholson a dull boy... and a murderous psycho when he brings his family to live in a giant hotel during the off-season only to be tortured by the ghosts of those who died before in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining from 1980. Then, a new kid moves to Indiana from Ohio, but he's hiding his secret identity as a shape-shifting, mother-fucking (literally) cat person in Sleepwalkers from 1992. And finally, an obese lawyer is cursed by a gypsy after running over his daughter while getting road head. The gypsy curse causes him to lose weight at a rapid pace, forcing him to try and exact revenge before he wastes away to nothing in Thinner from 1996. All this plus witty banter between friends, Acid Bitch, rating callers on a boob scale, sound baths, more sad Nerd News, Blu-ray Picks, questionable hip-hop music, continued lack of overt police involvement, and a whole lot more!
