Lesson 45 What a Nightmare!

Jeff had a terrible day. He missed the train to work. More over, he had to wait a long time for the next train. As a matter of fact, he waited for two hours. To make
matters worse, he left his briefcase on the train. As a result, he had to go to the police station. Poor Jeff never got to work that day. What a nightmare!

真是恶梦一场啊！
杰夫过了很糟的一天。他上班没赶上火车。而且，他得久候
下一班火车的到来。事实上，他等了两个小时。更糟的是，他把
手提箱留在火车上了。结果，他得到警察局走一趟。可怜的杰夫
那一天根本上不了斑。真是恶梦一场啊！

Lesson 44:She Had a Bad Cold

Mary: Where were you yesterday?
Jack: I was at home. In fact, I was taking care of Sally.
Mary: What's wrong with her?
Jack: She had a bad cold.
Mary: Is she getting better?
Jack: Yes. Thanks.

她患了重感冒
玛丽：你昨天在哪里?

A: My husband died.

B: I'm sorry for you.

A: Thank you.

B: When did he die?

A: A couple of months ago.

B: You still miss him.

A: Yes, but I talk to him almost every day.

B: When you go to church?

A: No, when I call him on his cell phone.

B: What do you mean?

A: I buried him with his cell phone.

B: What will you do when the battery dies?

77. The Beard

Jason Parker was looking for a job. He had applied to ten positions. Still, no one was hiring him. He didn't understand why no place wanted him. Jason had a positive and confident personality. His references proved he was reliable. He couldn't see anything wrong with himself.

杰森帕克在找工作，他已经申请了10个职位，但仍然没有一个聘用他。他不明白为什么没有地方需要他。杰森的个性积极自信，他的介绍信证明了他是个可靠的人，他实在找不出自己有什么问题。

He asked his friends what they thought was wrong. "It's your beard!" they all said. Jason didn't believe them. He thought his beard was attractive and manly. "It doesn't look good on you," his friends said. "You look homeless and dirty." After that Jason shaved the beard off. He hated it, but he was hired in his next interview.
