For the last July episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, we are ending theme weeks by making some bold predictions. Some are football-related, some are basketball-related, and the more we do, the more outlandish they get.

To start the episode, we discuss Carmen’s Crew’s impressive run in The Basketball Tournament and their upcoming matchup against the Kentucky alumni team. Also, what are we watching as the Olympics gets rolling this week?

In the bold prediction segment, Josh and Justin go back and forth on some things they think will happen this season, including a major upset early in the season.

Ohio State opens camp in just a couple of days, and it’s almost time to see what the Buckeyes can do during the upcoming season. News isn’t as plentiful for those of us who aren’t covering recruiting over the last month, but there are still some items to discuss.

We open this show with a discussion of some items from the recent Big Ten Media Days, including some things said by Ryan Day and Oregon Ducks Head Coach Dan Lanning. We then move into a preview of the big position battles coming up during camp, with the two biggest ones on the offensive side of the football.

There was bad news out of Ohio State as TC Caffrey picked up a serious injury and is out for the upcoming season. We discuss what that means for the OSU running backs room and what we’re likely to see this fall from that group.

There was some Ohio State-related news out of the NFL as well. Last month, we talked about Gareon Conley being signed by the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, Conley was an early camp cut, and the former Buckeye defensive back is retiring from the game. In more positive news, Kendall Sheffield was signed by the New York Jets. We’re not getting too excited for him just yet, because he’ll have an uphill battle to make the roster. Still, he’s got an opportunity, and in a business like football, that’s just about all you can hope for.

Finally, we turn our attention toward the great news that Archie Griffin will get to dot the iconic ‘i’ in Script Ohio this fall. We’re amazed it hasn’t happened yet, and we believe that capturing the Heisman Trophy twice means Archie should get to dot the ‘i’ twice as well. We also discuss some of the other worthy names who should be permitted this honor.

Jordan and DJ jump into their first conference preview of the season with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). With a mix of established powerhouses and emerging contenders, the ACC promises intense competition and thrilling matchups.

With powerhouse programs like Clemson, Miami, and Florida State it should be cut and dry, but many variables indicate that it's not that simple. With Mario Cristobal’s track record at both Oregon and Miami, even with the best talent, can he pull out an ACC-winning season? Will Florida State continue its dominance and end the season with a fourth-seed playoff bid instead of a heartbreaking snub? Will Clemson continue on a downward spiral? 

With those existing storylines, we do not want to sleep on the potential of Louisville and NC State to have breakout seasons again and potentially upset these powerhouses. DJ and Jordan also briefly discuss the new additions of SMU, Cal, and Stanford and they will stack up against their new competition.

Coaching changes and transfer portal acquisitions add to the changing landscape for the ACC. Who should we be watching? Preston Stone, Cam Ward, and Xavier Restrepo were discussed as potential game-changers for their programs.

Finally, DJ and Jordan share their way-to-early predictions for who will be the ACC champions and opponents.

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. This is the only Big Ten Podcast that’ll cover all 18 teams. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.

If you’re like me you’re unprepared for how fast this summer has gone and how quickly the 2024 College Football Season approaches! With August a week away, Fall camps should be starting soon which means it is conference preview season. In this episode, Jordan and Dante kick off conference previews by discussing the four programs most likely to be bottom feeders in 2024. Unlike other years, all of these programs have some form of optimism going into the season but that makes ending in this category even tougher. For three of them, they have first or second-year head coaches so they will just have to take their lumps as the Big Ten did not do them any favors with their schedules. 

The mantra for this year in an expanded conference and with a large number of teams being led by new coaches is, that someone has to lose these games. This season those someones are most likely Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, and Purdue. All four programs have to play some combination of Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, and Penn State. To make matters worse, Iowa is also on some of their schedules ensuring that they are stuck players multiple games against the top of the conference. Illinois is looking to regain its momentum from the 2022 season while Northwestern is hoping to prove that winning eight games in 2023 was not a fluke despite six of their eight victories being one-score games. 

Indiana is head over heels with head coach Curt Cignetti a multiple-time national champion at the FCS level but the best players on his roster are transfers from his old school James Madison and we do not know how they will translate to playing a nine-game Big Ten Schedule. Purdue has potential all-conference players at running back, defensive end, and safety but outside of those three players they are at a significant talent disadvantage with a roster decimated bu transfers and players running out of eligibility. They will be a transfer-heavy roster in 2024 and will have to hope that head coach Ryan Walters can make a second-year leap.

“Bucketheads” is LGHL’s men’s basketball podcast, hosted by Connor Lemons and Justin Golba. In every episode, they give you the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes and everything else happening in college hoops.

The Ohio State alumni team is 3-0 and is now heading to Louisville for the Elite Eight of TBT to face Takeover BC, and the winner of that will play either the Louisville or Kentucky alumni team in the Final Four.

Connor and Justin discuss the three games thus far and give a brief preview of Monday’s matchup. They also discuss multiple recruits putting Ohio State in their final list of schools and announcing official visits to Columbus.

In recent years, college football has witnessed major shifts in the conference alignments. Schools are seeking more financial opportunities and competitive advantages and the fallout from the implosion of the PAC-12 has major implications. The competition value is ever-increasing but how do college football fans really feel about these changes? Jordan and DJ discuss their thoughts on the realignment, and the conferences to watch this upcoming season. Jordan also offers his opinions on new media rights deals for the B1G and SEC. 

The college football playoff system is set to expand to 12 teams. This expansion addresses long-standing criticisms about the limited access to the playoff for teams outside the Power Five conferences. It promises to create more opportunities for underdog stories and to enhance the overall competitiveness of the playoff. Who doesn’t want more college football?

The changes to the transfer portal brought forth by an NCAA lawsuit have created a more dynamic and fluid player market, allowing teams to quickly address roster needs and for players to find better opportunities. But what are the educational implications and concerns for athletes who may take advantage of this? Should there be limitations in place or will the market reset itself? DJ thinks it will.

EA Sports keeps up the excitement for the revival of NCAA ‘25 but first Mike Gundy puts his foot in his mouth. Star Oklahoma State running Back Ollie Gordon III recently got arrested for driving while intoxicated and at Big Ten media days head coach Mike Gundy decided the best route was to minimize the severity and danger of driving while drunk. It’s an internal decision of if and how a player in this situation should be reprimanded but minimizing it was a horrible choice and Gundy is deservedly getting negative reactions to it. As a leader of men, Gundy made a bad situation worse. 

With the new College Football game a week away EA Sports has us salivating at the mouth waiting for its release. This week they dropped their top 100 players and a deep-dive of the Road to Glory game mode. The Big Ten has 31 players in the top 100 headline by no. one ranked player Cornerback Will Johnson from Michigan. In total, there are four players from the Big Ten in the top ten with Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham joining Will Johnson and at no. Eight and Ohio State’s safety Caleb Downs and running back Quinshon Judkins at no. Five and nine respectively. 

Depending on who you asked EA left the best for last with its Road to Glory, deep dive. While it’s missing the high school season aspect which is a major disappointment they seem to have put their best foot forward with the rest of the game. You can expect real decisions that impact your player's career, wear and tear, NIL, and they brought back position battles. Good luck figuring out if you want your player to be an underdog two-star recruit or an elite five-star recruit with high expectations. Good luck deciding which game mode you plan to play first.
