Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang

Put your BMs up in the AIR! No sicko, not THOSE BMs! It'll make sense once you listen to the ep, which this week features the legendary legend star Jenny Slate! The boys catch up on happenings during their little hiatus, specifically as they relate to Things That Are Eaten in the Pines, then get into the spectacular, made-for-everyone cinematic masterpiece that is "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On." Jenny then guides Matt and Bow through her glorious tapestry of formative culture before closing out with a truly necessary(!) IDTSH. It's good to be back, readers!

Wow. Simply wow. Another day, another Las Culturistas you really shouldn't miss. Matt and Bowen are joined by I Love That For You co-creator and former SNL writer Jeremy Beiler! A legend! Acting adjustments? He'll give them! (To Matt, on the set of I Love That For You.) So much importance is discussed such as the Be Real phenomenon, the illustrious work of Nancy Meyers (it IS complicated), how to elevate classic tropes on TV, the joy of retail therapy, the blegh-ness of QR code menus, Top Gun Maverick, and much more! And we must especially highlight the grandness of the Titanic and of course the the machinery involved in the sinking of Titanic!!

The moment has ~finally~ arrived. A two hour episode about TAYLOR SW- just kidding, y'all. Director Andrew Ahn and Writer/Star/EP Joel Kim Booster have crafted the film known to mankind as FIRE ISLAND and are here on Las Culturistas to discuss it. Matt & Bowen are very much in the film, and the four share memories and experiences working on this project, from connecting as a cast and crew to making art and then giving it away. Also, the Be Real phenomenon, VH1's Pop Up Video, the death of blooper culture, and how Bowen, Andrew and Joel stan Ms. Swan and always will. All this, best pop star music video actresses, Joel's first time ever seeing Erin Brockovich, Andrew's past as a child actor and his performance in a pro-OJ Simpson book on tape, thought on RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars 7, and an agreement that the word "sassy" has to fucking go. Stream Fire Island on Hulu on Friday, June 3rd! It's here! It's actually here!!! Fr*ck!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh... Stunning Talent On The Pod Alert! Ryan O'Connell joins the women of Las Cultch ahead of the release of both his debut novel Just By Looking At Him (out June 7th) and Peacock's Queer As Folk, on which he writes and also stars (out June 9th)! The three discuss their origins as snarky internet gays, splurging on ridiculous rideshares, working with Kim Cattrall (who plays Ryan's mom on QAF.... gag), horny photo shoots, how Kim Petras commands gays with her voice, relationships to the original Queer As Folk, and living on the same street where they filmed Erin Brockovich (the part where she's poor and amongst cockroaches). Also, thoughts on this season's RHOBH, how being a reality star alters the psyche, Gregg Araki, the goddess Parker Posey, and formative indie films of the 90's. Would YOU give your dog a human's name? What would it be? Think about that while you press PLAY on this episode... of LAS CULTURISTAS.

Well, there's only one word to say: Punam!!! The boys link up with Matt's Emmy-nominated co-star Punam Patel, who to this day regrets not meeting up with them in Mexico City, (COVID scare notwithstanding). Much is discussed with the "I Love That for You" star, from scamming yourself into an acting career through comedy, to the moment when your child's ass and penis are no longer yours to tuck. Also: establishments they look forward to visiting/avoiding on future CDMX visits, the angelic behavior of Aidy Bryant, AIM away messages that were emo as hell, and much more. Get ready to be completely awestruck by Punam's philosophy on haggling and how you can never cede the best of yourself to someone else, whether it's at West Elm or the bindi jewelry store. Stream "I Love That for You" on Showtime on Fridays or watch live, Sundays at 8:30ET/PT!

In this post 300th episode, Matt and Bowen are joined by the one and only Katie Crutchfield, the singer AND songwriter of Waxahatchee! A literal joy! An episode that touches on many topics including a Bagel Boss reveal! Some Bell House love! Some Fiona Apple love! What do Katie and Dua Lipa have in common? Do Matt and Bowen really know the way to Margaritaville? Plus some love for country music storytellers like Trisha Yearwood and The Chicks. The guys are Waxahatchee lifers now, okay?!
