Motivation can be a hard thing to come by, especially when we feel like everything is just too much. There are ways in which we can manipulate motivation by looking into the different types. These being intrinsic (internal) and extrinsic (external).
Simply put, internal motivation is that in which comes from the pure enjoyment of doing something, for example a walk in the sunshine. External motivation comes from outside sources, for example progress check-ins.
When thinking about your health, understanding which of these suits your individual personality can help determine the success of your goals.
For example, if you know that you need external sources to get you motivated, then you may hire a coach who will hold you accountable with weekly check-ins.
Likewise if you find that you work best when it comes internally, then you may try a variety of exercises until you find one that doesn't 'feel like a chore'.
