In this week's episode, you'll learn another tool you can use when you want to start doing things differently but have a brain that refuses to see other thought possibilities. When you "decide what to think" it can of course mean that you're looking for more helpful thoughts, but it can also mean that you're choosing what to give focus and attention to. And one of those things can be your values. Let me clarify what we mean when we talk about "values" and how to use them as a compass for navigating any situation and moving toward any goal.

This week's episode is part 2 in a series where we're talking about what the heck it means if someone suggests you "change your thoughts" or "choose your mindset." Once you have awareness about the thoughts you're having, you get to decide if they're helpful to you. And if not, you'll learn how to find & create new ones, how to use them as a guide for action, and what practicing new thoughts really looks like. Grab a pen and paper, or open your "notes" app, because this episode includes an exercise you can work through in real time as you listen.

Can you, or can't you, change your thoughts?
This episode is Part One of a series where we explore whether or not we can truly change our thinking. You'll learn how concepts from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can help us separate ourselves from our thoughts. You'll meet the two parts of your self - the thinking self and the observing self - and how recognizing the two creates useful distance between you and your negative thoughts. Learning this will make your thoughts optional - giving you more control over which ones you want to pay attention to.

On this episode of Decisions Change Everything, we challenge the traditional decision-making process of pro/con lists, and learn about a more effective alternative. The Reason-Driven Decision Model (RDDM) prioritizes reasons over pros & cons, and will help you build trust in yourself as a good decision-maker. Not only will I teach you how to use the model itself, but we'll also delve into our brain's bias and how it affects our default decision-making. I'll share tips on how to expand your options when a decision is in front of you, and how to identify the reasons that matter most when choosing an option. You'll leave the episode with helpful questions about yourself as a decision-maker, and a decision-making process that you can use time and time again.

Decision-making shouldn't be reserved for life-altering choices, or reducing your Amazon cart. It's the best tool no one taught you for creating change in any area of your life, whether it's your thoughts, feelings, and actions, or responses to things you don't have much control over. Here's how to use decision-making to set the compass for your daily life.

We make hundreds of decisions every day from the moment we wake up until we fall asleep again. And we like to think that many of our decisions are intentional. But in reality, many of our decisions are unquestioned habits, unchallenged social norms, and unconscious responses to our thoughts, and feelings, and past experiences.
Each week, life and decision coach Kimberly Mathis is going to help you make better, more intentional, and more conscious decisions in any area of your life - no matter how indecisive you may think you are, or how many bad decisions you think you've made up to this point.
If you want to have more choice about what your life looks like, the confidence to make decisions with ease & efficiency, and the self-assuredness to handle anything that comes your way, this is the podcast for you.
Decisions change everything - even the things that feel unchangeable.
