On this week’s episode, EquiTeam chats to Warren Lamperd, BE Coach and 5* rider, about starting your British Eventing dream. It’s the time of year when people set their new years resolutions, and for many, competing at British Eventing is on their goals for 2023. As an accomplished coach and having ridden to 5* level, Warren shares his wealth of information on what components are required to start the season successfully, from having the right coach, to making sure all of the ingredients are in place and tested. When it comes to the big day Warren shares a valuable insight about the importance of remembering to set your desired outcome before the day, and a reminder that everyone is on their own journey. The time between Christmas and New Year is a great opportunity to review the past year and start setting some goals for 2023. As the title of this podcast says we have 365 days of opportunities, so dream big, set some goals and get ready to take action.

In this episode the team from EquiTeam chat about how to go about setting some goals, making sure they are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely (SMART) and also share some tips to help you achieve your goals. Sharing your goals with others is a brilliant way to keep you motivated and accountable, especially if you have a couple of friends who will encourage and push you when you need some support and being aware about what might get in the way of you achieving your goals is also a great exercise for you to work through.

It’s Christmas…! This week Liz, Lou & Liz get together to chat all things Christmas. From different family Christmas traditions, parents who got steaming drunk by 10.30am on Christmas morning or whether we should be buying our pets presents, nothing is off limits!

The real verses fake tree debate comes up as does the story of someone lovingly feeding their Christmas cake for several months with what, they thought was brandy, only to find out their husband had drunk the brandy and refilled the bottle with weak tea!

On a more serious note there’s also a reminder that Christmas can be a lonely time for some people, so please don’t forget to check in with people you know are spending it on their own.

And finally we want to wish everyone a very happy Christmas from us all at EquiTeam and thank all of our wonderful members for their support this year.

As the 2022 Equiteam Confidence Camps have come to a close, camp organisers Liz Daniels and Lou Gillings reflect on the highs, the lows, the memorable parts and share when the 2023 camp dates will be released. Although not directly connected to the EquiTeam membership, Liz and Lou offer an insight as to the inspiration which came from their residential camps, which ultimately led to the formation of EquiTeam Connected. From the challenges of rock hard ground and the unprecedented Scottish heat which 2022 will be remembered for, to Lou disclosing that she isn’t always very ‘peopley’, the duo offer a taste of life behind the scenes at camp.

There is no denying that this time of year for horse owners comes as a challenge. With the constant battle of rain, mud and dark nights the EquiTeam trio discuss how they stay motivated in winter, and share a few tips along the way. With a mutual love for the sunshine Liz, Lou and Liz can totally relate to the struggles of horse-owning in winter, but balance that up with a welcome reminder that the shortest day is almost here. This week’s episode is the perfect companion when mucking out on a dark cold morning, or whilst trudging through the mud, and acts as a reminder that you are very much not alone! #horseownerstogether

Hazel delves into her own experiences both professionally and personally, and shares why she believes mindset is the biggest challenge of all. Not one to preach without cause, Hazel opens up about some of her grueling personal challenges, which she undertook for charity after the devastating loss of her week-old son. An inspiration to us all – and having now raised over £40,000 for charity, we find out what she has her eye on for her 2023 challenge.
