  • How to be Happy Part 2: Emotional Homes

Helllo Life Coasters! Welcome to part 2 of the How to be Happy series. Today we are talking about emotional homes.

If you ask the majority of people what do they want, they will respond with something like, "I want to be happy," or "I want happiness."

What we don't chat about much is when happiness is appropriate. We put happiness on a pedestal like it's our end all be all, but do we really want to be happy in scenarios (the answer is probably not).

However, there are certain emotional states that we can be in at all times, and we call that an emotional home (psst it's not happiness!). Press play to learn about emotional homes and how they help us feel happier.

  • Monday Mantra: Forgive me, I know not what I do.

Helllloooo Life Coasters! Welcome to another episode of Monday Mantra. Today's Monday Mantra helps with compassion and forgiveness. When I deliver you a mantra I have two goals in mind. I want the mantra to either:

    1. Break an unproductive thought patterns.
    2. Keep you focused on the task at hand.

Today's episode is about breaking unproductive thought patterns. Did you know if you adopt the belief "I believe we are all doing the best we can," you are more compassionate, forgiving, kind, and resilient?

Though I know this, somedays it's hard to remember, and I have been using this mantra to help me remember. I hope this mantra helps you remember as well. As an added bonus, I also discuss how you can integrate this mantra into your life.

    About our guest:
Our guest today, had a college degree in biology that she wanted nothing to do with and a job she hated and felt like she’d hit rock bottom. After several phone calls back and forth, she decided to move back home and start over. Fast forward to today she’s learned to embrace her own queen identity, climbed to the top 1% in a network marketing company, and launched to her own business to help other female entrepreneurs embrace their own queen.

She’s a Georgia Peach who lived in Austin Texas where she found her love for swing dancing. She was born on the Fourth of July, and if you head over to her house you better bring a sweatshirt because she keeps her apartment nice and cold and then also maybe a swimsuit because she lives right next to the Chattahoochee river, it is my pleasure to introduce to you the Queen herself, Hannah Brindley.

  • Monday Mantra: I can figure ANYTHING out.

Someone once said to my dad, "You know, if you threw your kids or my kid in a fire, they would come out walking." Where most of us get it wrong, is we think talent is bestowed upon certain people at birth when that's not true at all.

The people who have the most success are people that have the belief: I can figure anything out.

It's not about the talents that we are born with, it's about how hard we choose to work and what beliefs we adopt.

And any of us can learn this belief. Including you.

  • I lied to you. Here's the truth.

A few weeks ago I dropped an episode called Are you failing? This is why & how to fix it, and I lied to you. Well, kinda. I gave you a half truth, and as my favorite quote goes, "never settle for a half truth when the whole can be won." So let's call a spade a spade. It was a lie.

The formula I gave you for goal setting in that episode was, good, but I've had that cliché personal development goal setting formula for a few years, and sometimes it works for me, other times it doesn't. So here's the whole truth. The ups, downs, and everything in between of failing, being stuck, and how to get out.

  • Monday Mantra: I will do well, TODAY.

Today's Monday Mantra is "I will do well today."

I meaning you, of course. My Great Uncle quit drinking for 20+ years because he repeated to himself every morning, "I will not drink today."

If we focus on the day and not on forever, our goals become manageable. If we focus on forever, we get overwhelmed, frustrated, and eventually give up.

Today's mantra will help you simplify and get back to the present so you can go forth and dare I say it, "Crush those goals."

  • The Compassion Deficiency

One of my favorite quotes is from the Cadet Prayer and it reads "...make us choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong and never be content with a half truth when the whole can be won."

And if I'm being honest, I've been avoiding this conversation and choosing the easier wrong. We've been experiencing a compassion deficiency at a rapid rate this year, and it's time to turn back to understanding, to love, to compassion.

We are breaking that allllll down into today's episode along with  how we can be aware of the compassion deficiency, how it's harming us all, and how we can get back to compassion. Ready or not, let's go.
