Live An Educated Life; Jellis Vaes

Listen Later

Jellis Vaes is the founder of The IPS Project, which stands for ‘Inner Path Seekers'. “Jellis believes we all have a voice inside our hearts with which to speak; that is our gift. And we all have something worth saying, even if we don’t always realize it. For a long period in his life, he thought he had no voice at all. For 6 years he went through high school consumed by suicidal thoughts, spending most of his time between the 4 walls of my bedroom – locked away from the world. He says: “I was overcome by feelings I had no words for.”

  •  What Does IPS Stand For?
    • IPS stands for Inner Path Seekers
  • This project started in 2021. I came up with the idea of creating a platform that just provides educational life topics that we don't learn much anything about from school, or from our parents.
  • It touched on subjects like mental health to the mind, relationships, the body, and the brain.
  • To sum it up, the platform does that through a podcast and online courses, and practical articles. We're also working on events and looking to buy a piece of land and build a community center where we can do workshops as well.
  • Lessons Learned By Being A World Traveler?
    • I did travel a lot, beginning when I was 18. When I was a teenager I got to a very dark place as I thought life was very boring and dull, and not exciting at all.
  • Traveling just opened up the adventure and the freedom and the possibilities that had not seen. So this is why traveling became a lifesaver to me and showed what more there is out there in life. I'm very thankful that I had that opportunity, so …So
  • What Is Your Life's Purpose?
    • I want to help people suffer a little bit less through life. When I was young, I walked very close on the edge between life and death, because I had a lot of dark thoughts about suicide. For instance
  • It's been an incredible motivator on why I'm doing what I'm doing. We just know so little about ourselves, which can then lead some people to very dark places.
  • I'm grateful for everything that I've done to help people who are struggling in life, or are walking on a very close edge between living and dying.  But
  • Meditation In Your Life…
    • There are certain times in my life when I have done way more meditation. But right now I'm at a point where I don't have an actual practice of meditating every day, I would say that I have more other practices of being just mindful. So
  • I always go for like a morning walk. and that is a simple way for me to meditate.
  • This is just to get my workflow going, but also just to pay attention to my surroundings, feel gratitude for what I'm seeing, and just feel a bit aware of everything around me.
  • That is my form of meditation, just a walking meditation. That's something that I do every day, even if it's raining. So there's always something nice to be grateful for.
