Locked On Avalanche - Daily Podcast On The Colorado Avalanche

The Avs went a handful of days with no players added to the COVID protocol list, but that counter can now be set back to 0 as Hunter Miska is the latest player to be added to the list. This means Adam Werner will now act as backup to Grubauer. We know we won't have the players already on the list (Girard, Jost, Landeskog) for game two vs Vegas, but there is a possibility Cale Makar will return from his day to day injury. Let's hope so. We expected some rust, and after two early penalties the rust seemed to shed as the Colorado Avalanche fought hard but dropped a tough one to the Golden Knights 1-0. This coming hours after the news that Cale Makar is the latest member of the injury report with a day to day upper body injury. All things considered, the Avalanche held tough and had some chances but couldn't break through. What went right and what went wrong for the Avs first game back in almost two weeks. The Colorado Avalanche were allowed back in their facility and back on the ice to practice for the first time since being shut down for a week due to COVID. Naturally there was some rust that we can only hope is gone once the Avs take the ice on Sunday against Vegas. Tune in and subscribe!

Wednesday came and went and no new Avalanche players added to the Covid protocol list. It is looking like the Avs are on track to return to play against Vegas on Sunday, but it also looks like Vegas is having Covid issues once again. Does that put everything in jeopardy? Madison Square Garden announced they will start letting 10% of the arenas capacity to enter the building and watch games. What does this mean for the rest of the league, especially the Avalanche? And Darren Dreger made a statement on ESPN that is sure to get the fan base riled up. If Pittsburgh misses the playoffs this year, does Sidney Crosby have a conversation with newly minted GM Ron Hextall about moving on to say.....Colorado? Tune in and subscribe!

The Avalanche went all of Tuesday with no players being added to the Covid Protocol list and if we can get two more days of that it will look good for the Avalanche to return to play this weekend. We might be early in the season but that doesn't mean we can't pick an Avs MVP so far this year. We can also look at some guys who could kick it into high gear once the Avs do return to play. Tyson Jost and Gabe Landeskog were joined by Sam Girard on the Covid protocol list over the weekend, thus bringing the total of Avs players on the list to three. With Feb. 11th a couple days away you want Avs players names away and off this list. The next couple days will decide if the Avs can return to play on the 14th against Vegas. The Avs have played a total of 11 games so far and that is enough to look at their season so far an take away five positive and five negative things the team has done. Tune in and subscribe!

The Avalanche were not preparing for a bye week this year, but they are getting one whether they like it or not. First Gabe Landeskog was added to the COVID protocol list, then a few hours later word came down that the Avs will cease play for at least a week. Obviously, this is not what anyone wanted, but there are some positives that can be taken from a week off. Let's discuss. Tune in and subscribe!

You knew it was only a matter of time before COVID-19 hit the Colorado Avalanche in season, and that time has arrived. Colorado was set to play the fourth and final game of the series against the Minnesota Wild tonight, but five more players from the Wild were added to the COVID Protocol list, as well as the Avs own Tyson Jost. At a minimum the Avs Thursday night game is cancelled and more could be coming. Tune in for all the information.

It took a little bit of time to get going, but once the Avs did, they played a much more controlled game than the free flowing style when Nathan MacKinnon is on the ice. The Avs did just enough to score what they needed to score, clamp down on defense and let Philipp Grubauer shine once again. One more game left in this four game set and it looked like the Avs got more comfortable playing a slightly different style without their superstar running the show. Tune in and subscribe!

Us Avs fans are used to bad news when it comes to our Avalanche and injuries. But that could be turning around after some reports are saying the injury to Nathan MacKinnon and Devon Toews are not serious and both players could return sooner rather than later. Let's cross our fingers! Defenders haven't normally been involved in the discussion when it comes to the Hart Trophy. Is Cale Makar set to blow that up? We hand out our 3 Stars of Last Week (Not Named Nathan). Tune in and subscribe!
