Locked On Avalanche - Daily Podcast On The Colorado Avalanche

Sure, the Colorado Avalanche are not performing the way they expect, but we still have 2/3 of the season to go and this team still has the talent and stamina to rise in the standings. Should we panic? No. Should we have concern? Maybe in some areas. But none should lead to fans calling for massive roster moves and coaching changes. Ups and downs happen in a season and hopefully we can all look back at this and have a good laugh. Tune in and subscribe!

The Colorado Avalanche went from a rough start to the week, to a two game sweep against Arizona. It was the tale of two teams. Can they keep that going against San Jose? We have no idea when Erik Johnson will return from his injury. Will this force the Avs to move on from him this offseason in terms of making him available in the expansion draft? Finally, the three stars of last week (not named Nathan). Tune in and subscribe!

The Colorado Avalanche need to get back on track and get back on track quickly. Maybe the team they handled pretty easily in the playoffs last year is a good way to do that? Not so fast. Rob Leano from Locked on Coyotes joins the show to discuss how the Yotes look so far this season, and to discuss the fact we share a birthday. Tune in and subscribe!

They were within one with 17 minutes to play, but it just seemed like the Colorado Avalanche didn't have the energy for a comeback win last night against the Minnesota Wild. It all fell apart quickly as the Wild were able to separate themselves from the Avs sending the Avs to ponder what went wrong in a 6-2 loss. The answer is....a lot, and you are left to wonder if teams have figured out the recipe to defeat the Avs. Tune in and subscribe!

The Colorado Avalanche are in a good spot in the standings and have played relatively well over the course of the season so far. But that doesn't mean there aren't some players who need to make a step up and start contributing more. Three of those players are discussed. Lets also hear from Coach Bednar following the Avs loss to Vegas and one concerning aspect of play the Avs need to figure out how to fix quickly as it might be their weak spot. The talk will be about the play of Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, and he deserves all the credit, but another question to ask is why couldn't the Colorado Avalanche put home any of the several great looks they got throughout this game? In the end, Vegas wound up with a 3-0 win and a series split. I also hand out the Three Stars of Last Week (Not Named Nathan). Tune in and subscribe!

It took some time (near 12 hours in total) but the Avalanche skated past the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 outdoors at Lake Tahoe. The game started with the sun high in the sky, but that same sun caused ice issues leaving the teams to pick the action back up at midnight eastern time. In the end, the Avs were too much for the Knights, who used some questionable tactic to rattle the Avs. Let us also look at the schedule for the Avs over the next five weeks, which sees the Avs playing minimally every other day. It will be a brutal stretch for the team and will really test their depth and their conditioning. Tune in and subscribe!

The Colorado Avalanche have arrived at Lake Tahoe and the next time we see them on a sheet of ice it will be in their Reverse Retro uniforms taking on the Vegas Golden Knights outdoors. The Avs are also going to be loaded with players returning from injury or COVID protocols so we should see a much different approach to how the Avs play the third game of this series. But why is Nathan MacKinnon taking a golf shot? Tune in and subscribe!

Colorado was again down several key pieces but somehow found a way to get past the Vegas Golden Knights after a Zamen Kadri last minute goal. This was a 'character builder' win for the Avs especially for the young guys who were counted on to come in and perform. Do they Avs need to go out and find a backup for Grubauer is the question?
