Locked On Avalanche - Daily Podcast On The Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche were in a dogfight of a game, which was a good thing. What wasn't good was taking the ice in the 3rd period without super star Nathan MacKinnon. Nothing seemed to be glaring for the Avs star as to why he wouldn't finish the game, but he is the latest in the injury bug that has continued since last year. The Avs fought, but in the end lost early in OT. Now all the attention turns to MacKinnon and the severity of his injury.

The Colorado Avalanche has their first winning streak of the season after a 3-0 win over the San Jose Sharks. This was a much different game than game 1, but the Avs found a way to get some pucks in net late in the 3rd to get past a Sharks team that had no real answer for the Avs speed. In the process, however, Pierre-Édouard Bellemare took a nasty hit to the knee and the Avs should probably prepare themselves for life without Bellemare for a while. Tune in and subscribe!

At first Matt Calvert was day to day, now he is out until we don't know when, and a player with a history of concussions that can be scary. We don't know if a concussion is the reason for his absence, but whatever it is here is to a speedy recovery! The Avs also released their schedule for their Reverse Retro uniform games and it has me feeling a bit underwhelmed. Finally, what to expect from game 2 between the Avs and the Sharks. Colorado has been looking for consistency up and down the roster and maybe last night was the starting point. A 2nd line that has been wildly silent for most of the year woke up and helped the Avalanche take control in a 7-3 win over the San Jose Sharks. Tune in and subscribe!

The Avalanche complete their four game road trip going 2-2 and each game was an adventure. The Avs played a very ugly, flow-less game on Friday against Anaheim and won in OT, then played a pretty dominant offensive game on Sunday only to be shut down by Ducks goalie John Gibson. The Avs have some things to figure out but they can use yesterdays loss as a positive offensively, and chalk it up to a goalie being on his game. One day off then it's home against San Jose. When the news hit that Avs #1 prospect Bowen Byram was going to be in the lineup, fans were as excited as if this were a playoff game. Good thing it wasn't because the series would be tied at 1 thanks to a less than stellar effort by the Avalanche, letting the Kings walk away with their first win of the season even after Colorado got out to a 2-0 lead after the first. It's easy to see the season is still early and there are things the Avs need to work on. Hopefully sooner rather than later as their next game is tonight against Anaheim. Tune in and subscribe!

Nathan MacKinnon is a top three player in the NHL today. But what about his all time ranking within the Avalanche franchise? Is he already, at the age of 25, a top five player in franchise history? Bowen Byram is with the Avalanche and there is a real possibility we see him before the week is over. FInally, the Avs played an up and down game against LA in game 1, what do they have to do to ensure LA doesn't pull within a goal again? Tune in and subscribe!

The Colorado Avalanche had been rumored to be shopping defensemen Ian Cole to make room for the plethora of d-men they have in their system, and yesterday they made that a reality. The Avs traded Cole to Minnesota and the Bowen Byram era will begin.....soon. On the ice, the Avs looked good for the most part and had to hold to as their 3-0 lead was trimmed to 3-2 late in the 3rd, but the Avs held on to improve to 2-1-0 on the season. The Colorado Avalanche looked pretty bad in game 1 vs the St. Louis Blues, but that is a distant memory after a game 2 blowout. The Avs game out ready to roll and ran over St. Louis to the tune of 8-0. We have all been waiting for Bowen Byram to arrive to the Avs, and that time is now. Byram has been assigned to the Taxi Squad and him getting on the ice should be very soon. Finally, the return of the 3 Stars of the Week (not named Nathan) returns!. Tune in and subscribe!
