  • Blue Jays Monday Musings - Light of a New Dawn

A brief Monday Musings today, but an important one as host Ryan Andrews talks about the new Blue Jays debuting tonight!

The host opens in the first half with a discussion about the Blue Jays recent series against Tampa Bay, and how it served as a perfect microcosm of the season. Andrews laments the inability of the Blue Jays offense to curtail its hyper-aggressive habits and highlights how the team out-Rayed Tampa in the Sunday game by using Devon Travis and the speed of Kevin Pillar. Andrews questions whether Brook Jacoby shouldn't be shown the door regardless of whether John Gibbons stays on at the end of the season.

In the second half, Andrews hypes up the debut of Sean Reid-Foley and Danny Jansen tonight in Kansas City. The Nova Scotian discusses how they feel this is a sign of the Blue Jays youth movement finally kicking into high gear and how it serves the ultimate goal of having a full team in place by the time Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is ready to become an MLB superstar. Ryan Borucki and Lourdes Gurriel get special mentions in this segment.

  • Blue Jays Fan Friday - Bats for Borucki Edition

The topics are bountiful on another Blue Jays Fan Friday and host Ryan Andrews does their best to hit all of them!

Andrews opens with some initial thoughts on the Blue Jays' 8-5 win over the Red Sox to avoid the sweep with official Red Sox analyst Brandon Moor (@RockChalkTown) opining on Justin Smoak and Randal Grichuk. The host also touches on the ability of the Blue Jays front office to build a bullpen every year, and whether or not John Gibbons has earned the right to determine his fate at the end of the year.

In the second half, attention turns to Ken Giles and his home run problems, as Andrews makes the case to allow Giles to continue his ninth-inning role unencumbered. The podcast wraps up with a discussion of what nickname Ryan Borucki should use on his Players' Weekend jersey, with some of your suggestions!

    Thank you to @RockChalkTown, @RobinCohrs, @shinypants, @cbradley2928, @jonybeeegood, @brightskies99, @myleshiggins, @DaveEK42, @frenchielexus2, @Lesley_NOPE and @TheeMattB for their contributions!

  • The Blue Jays and the Back-to-Back Boston Beatdowns

As the rains plot a course for Nova Scotia, host Ryan Andrews feels under the weather discussing Wednesday's Blue Jays game.

Familiar topics are discussed, starting with another bullpen day gone awry. Andrews discusses the return to earth of Mike Hauschild, some nice things about Luis Santos and gives up on Joe Biagini.

Andrews also discusses another example of a lack of effort from Yangervis Solarte, and wonders if Richard Urena might be an improvement for the time being.

In the second half, the host praises Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who hit his first AAA home run. It's something nice to end a short episode.

  • The Blue Jays and the Downpour in the Bullpen

A tough day all around for the city of Toronto yesterday and Ryan Andrews does their best to put a positive spin on the baseball aspect.

In the first half, Andrews praises a rare decent day for the offense, despite the lack of production with RISP. Andrews singles out Devon Travis and Yangervis Solarte with good nights at the plate. The Nova Scotian also praises Marcus Stroman's strong start against a top opponent, but wonders if precautions shouldn't be taken with the blister Stroman appeared to be dealing with.

In the second half, Andrews digs into the bullpen, as Ryan Tepera and Ken Giles earn deserved scrutiny. Andrews questions whether or not Tepera let his anger get the best of him, especially in the wake of some questionable calls. The host also wonders if Giles is not trusting his slider enough as an out pitch, as his fastballs won't work on guys who can hit 98 mph easily.

  • The 2018 Blue Jays Playlist - As Chosen By the Fans

In a special edition of the podcast, host Ryan Andrews serves as your curator for a 25-song trek through the depths of the emotions that the 2018 Blue Jays have stirred in fans across the globe!

Andrews opens with a brief introduction and how the playlist will be divided, then they dive into the songs chosen by the Blue Jays faithful to serve as their selections to reflect this season. Following a modified five stages of grief, Andrews opens with denial/reasoning why the Blue Jays weren't successful this year, with Josh Donaldson and Aaron Sanchez earning mentions, before entering anger and the sections of the fan base upset with the direction of the team and what it has become.

After a break, the Nova Scotian leads into sadness, the most popular feeling expressed by Blue Jays fans, and leans into why those feelings are valid and what they mean for the team going forward, including the host's own selection for the playlist.

However, it's not all negative. Some fans are maintaining a positive outlook by remembering the good times and looking ahead to what can be in the future, including Randal Grichuk. Andrews discusses why these feelings are so important, before closing with a final note on the emotions this team causes and why they keep fans coming back.

  • Blue Jays Monday Musings - Sweep-less in Seattle

Back from the outer edges of Nova Scotia, Ryan Andrews is back with a feel-good Monday edition of the podcast!

Andrews discusses the Blue Jays and their fruitful series against the Mariners, where Toronto ended up taking 3-of-4 games. The host opens with the playoff atmosphere that Western Canadian fans were able to create and how it spurred the players on.

Attention then turns to the stellar offensive performances that the Blue Jays received, from contributors like Randal Grichuk, Devon Travis, Aledmys Diaz, Russell Martin and Teoscar Hernandez. Andrews highlights how vital it is for players like Grichuk, Hernandez and Travis to use the rest of the season to find approaches that will give them success in the future.

In the second half, Andrews discusses the pitching performances, from Ryan Borucki's stellar start, to Marco Estrada's return to form, to Sam Gaviglio's average outing. Andrews pinpoints Borucki as a future Blue Jays stalwart and declares Ken Giles has the same potential to lock up the closer role, and that both men can be part of a future contender in Toronto. Andrews closes with a discussion of Joe Biagini and his problems with the long ball, and why sending him to Buffalo is not the solution.

  • Blue Jays Fan Friday - A Haus With No Name Edition

It's Friday and everyone seems to be in a better mood for a Blue Jays Fan Friday edition of the podcast!

Host Ryan Andrews first thanks everyone who submitted songs that subscribe the 2018 Blue Jays and details plans for the tidal wave of responses.

Then, Andrews goes into a deep dive about the random appearance of Mike Hauschild and what the former Houston farmhand was able to do against the Mariners. However, as much as the host espouses praise for the pride of Dayton, Ohio, Andrews also discusses a Shi Davidi piece on why his success was necessary to begin with and why the team doesn't turn to arms like Sean Reid-Foley, Thomas Pannone or even Drew Hutchison.

In the second half, Andrews shines a spotlight on Teoscar Hernandez and his strong day at the plate. The Nova Scotian hopes it leads to a re-establishing of Teoscar's rhythm at the plate and leads to the outfielder some of the offensive load Kendrys Morales has been carrying.

  • The Blue Jays and Surviving the Season

It's a hot episode (both figuratively and literally) for the host of the show as Ryan Andrews spits fire at the Blue Jays.

Andrews lambastes the club for the coup de grace in their series against Oakland and questions what the Blue Jays are playing for. The lack of hustle and the simple mental mistakes worry Andrews, and they wonder aloud what this means for John Gibbons, Brook Jacoby and the rest of the staff.

In the second half, Andrews discusses the news that Tyler Clippard will be making his first start since 2008 for the Blue Jays. Andrews discusses the message this strategy sends and how it gives fans little incentive to watch games. Andrews closes with a few bright spots that they will be watching, including Randal Grichuk, Brandon Drury, and Ryan Borucki.

  • The Blue Jays and A Farewell To Arms

In the wake of more deals at the deadline, it's time to take stock of the Blue Jays bullpen and that's why host Ryan Andrews does!

They discuss the separate deals of Aaron Loup and John Axford and what the state of the bullpen looks like with them gone. Andrews offers praise for Luis Santos and Joe Biagini for efforts in Oakland, as well as Brandon Cumpton, who appears to be the new inning sponge.

Andrews also chastises the effort put forth by some Blue Jays, focusing on Yangervis Solarte's inability to run out a ground ball in the eighth inning.

In the second half, the Nova Scotian discusses Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s Buffalo debut and what the Blue Jays will look for during his time at AAA.

  • Blue Jays Say Au Revoir To Osuna

There is only one thing to talk about in today's Locked On Blue Jays episode, and it's not the performance of Jaime Garcia...

Host Ryan Andrews dives into all facets of the Roberto Osuna trade, starting with the moral problems the Blue Jays lifted from their team by trading the closer and announcing that he was not going to play for the organization again. Andrews discusses the Astros' putting winning over morality and the problems it leads to in sports in general.

In the second half, Andrews turns their attention to the new members of the team, be it Ken Giles' focus issues, David Paulino's ability to start and Hector Perez and his potential for the future. They also close with a brief look at who else could be traded today.
