Tua Tagovailoa threw a 25-yard TD pass to Malik Washington, but was sacked 2x in 3 drives with the 1st-team offense, and the Miami Dolphins beat the Jacksonville Jags 14-6 on Saturday night.

Mike Boone for a 7-yard touchdown for Miami (2-0-1), as the Dolphins’ starters played into the 2nd quarter in the preseason finale.

The Jaguars (0-2-1) did not play their starters.

Tua sat down after hitting Washington- who has emerged as 1 of his favorite targets- in the 2nd quarter to put Miami ahead 7-0. Washington caught 3 passes for 41 years and the score.

Tagovailoa went 4 of 8 for 49 yards. After the TD, he hit backup tight end Pharoah Brown for a 2-point conversion.

Miami backup QB Zach Wilson replaced Tua, and led Miami’s 2nd TD drive, which ended on Boone’s run with 8:29 remaining in the 3rd.

Rookie Quinn Ewers took over for Wilson in the 4th quarter and went 7-8 for 66 yards.

The Jaguars finished with 6 sacks.

Jacksonville drove to the Miami 30 with 2:06 remaining, when John Saunders Jr. intercepted Seth Henigan and brought it back 52 yards into Jags’ territory.

Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders dressed but did not play. Punter Jake Bailey kicked off, and Miami went for 2 after each of its touchdowns.

Bailey also came up short on a 51-yard field goal attempt in the 2nd quarter.
