Locked On Guardians - Daily Podcast On The Cleveland Guardians

Cesar Hernandez had a career year but ended up taking a pay cut and signing a very team-friendly deal. He will likely man second base for the next two years until Ty Freeman is ready for the gig. We talk about the Ahmed Rosario trade talk. The made-up rumor of JRAM and the Braves. Along with false narratives about the top 100 prospects. The infielder market, and why the Indians are primed to trade for help sooner than later.

We talk about the news of the day and why the players association turned down the universal DH and expanded playoffs. We look into some signings, talk about team developmental history, have a mini mailbag, and then finally we get into the meat of the show looking into potential free agents who could fit the Indians five to 10 million dollar price range and why they might save more money long term by signing a reliever today.

I take some issue with a piece from the Plain Dealer, where it feels like the writer is carrying a lot of water for the Indians and defending moves that are yet to come. I take a look at why the Orioles trading Santander is even more likely now. I talk a bit about how robust the pitching market has been and why it is a surprise that Carrasco was not worth more. We bonus around baseball talking second-baseman and even a little Trevor Bauer.

Some sound issues on this one, it gets fixed at the add break so a quick heads up. We go into the mailbag and answer a bunch of questions including explaining who the worst 2nd round pick in team history is and why. We talk about prospects lists and why I don't look at them hardly at all. We talk about Emmanual Clase and more.

We talk about some old friends at the top of the show including one you may have forgotten. Then we talk about why Anthony Santander should be the target for the Indians this offseason and how his name is in the news. We talk about the Springer deal that occurred at the start of the podcast. Then we end with a look at the top second-round picks in franchise history and how the team has never drafted a prep player in the second round who found any major league success.

I talk about Corey Kluber signing with the Yankees and why it surprised me, and why I am happy for him. I wax a bit Nostglic for his time with the Indians and the special run the Indians had during his peak. He was an absolute warrior for the Indians in 2016. We talk about the projected rotation and players who are likely to spend the start of the year in the minors in spite of the minors being delayed to start the year. We talk about the players the Indians came to an agreement with before arbitration began, and why the catcher situation and the amount of money invested there should be no surprise. Then we add with the promised bit I had recorded previously about the Rays and Indians and why they should be natural fits in a trade for both squads and it still holds even now.

This was a fun talk with Javi Reyes of locked on Padres. We talk about all the moves the Padres have made adding three potential aces over the last six months. We spend a lot of time on the Indians as well as it relates to the Clevinger deal, and the prospects they added in that deal over the course of two podcasts. Great talks about baseball, Padres, and the Indians.

One can understand a trade and still not like it. We look at the consensus on the return the Indians got for trading Lindor and Carrasco. We talk about what these players might do the concerns with each and who we might see first. We talk about what the local news has reported along with why it is that Isiah Greene, in particular, concerns me, not due to him at all but due to the Indian's own issues. We talk about all four players in-depth, and why I still have major reservations even though most think this was a solid return for the Indians.

Frankie Lindor and Carlos Carrasco have been traded to the Mets. While it feels like a bad dream, it is now a reality. We dig into the Indians additions, who could help soon, and the trade-in general as we try and figure out why it was the Indians traded another two players who will go down as two of the best in franchise history. We have special guest Aram Leighton from Locked on Prospects and Locked on Marlins to talk about the big deal.
