We spend some time talking about some plans for the podcast, before focusing on the 1965 MLB draft. This was the first draft in MLB history and the Indians found success in round one, but that was basically it. We find the mystery of the first Ohioan drafted by the Indians, and how that player can not be found anywhere. Then we dig into the entire draft itself. Come for Ray Fosse and stay for Nolan Ryan.

The day this podcast was recorded wa on the 27th year anniversary of the tragic death of Steve Olin and Tim Crews. We talk about how there careers, and what they might have met to the Indians going forward. We also focus on two players whose careers were marked by the incident with Kevin Wickander and Bob Ojeda. Before looking at what those four players would have meant for the 93 Indians and the Indians going forward in general.

We discuss a little of yesterday's show. Then we dig into the announced roster moves today which took the players technically still in camp from 40 to 35. This paints a real clear picture of what the Indians 26 man roster will look like when the season does finally start. We take another look at the players still listed in camp and try and figure out what the 26 man roster might look like in a month or so.

I pull no punches and talk about why canceling the draft would hurt teams, players, and agents all to save billionaire owners a little bit of money. The story that broke had bad numbers and misinformation in it, and even if the numbers were true the average team would save under 15 million if the draft was canceled. This would save the owners a little bit of money. It would cause agents to lose livelihood. It would cause players from rough backgrounds to lose a chance at earning. It would make it easier to get rid of minor league teams. It would take money from the poor of baseball, so the super rich could keep a bigger share.

We talk about the news of the team paying it's workers, like every other team in baseball. We talk about Shane Bieber and the MLB love for him that came out on Monday. Then we go into All-Time second base as we talked about the best second baseman of the last 20 years, a future politician, and a player who was about as synonymous with the Indians as any player in team history at his peak.

The podcasts starts talking about another PR misstep by the Indians, who seem to have this occur more than any other squad. Then we settle in to talk all time third base, by the end of the show I talk myself out of the order and change everything around for spots 6-3. The one thing these three players do have in common is the literal or figurative end of their careers came when they left Cleveland.

We talk about how the show is staying five days a week even if baseball is not. We talk about what to expect, what to look forward to, and how you can help contribute to Locked On Indians. After this we begin the deep dive on All-time Second Base. There is a player who was the Indians all-time home run leader at shortstop for 50+ years. There is a guy who was traded for Roger Maris, ok it is the same guy but still. The interesting thing is how many of this players were from trades or free agent signings. Among the top six players only two were drafted or developed by the Indians themselves. We only get started so tune in tomorrow to hear the rest of the the list.

Looking at the Trey Mancini news and hoping for the best. Talking about the delayed season, and why that could help the Indians. Talking about the real baseball tragedy of the loss of the college and high school baseball seasons. (Only in terms of baseball, we know there are much bigger issues in the world). I explain how I want to help players in my little way, along with ways the draft might need to adapt and change this year. I also explain how now is the perfect time to revisit Lindor talks, and give my plan to get a deal done.

We got over the 13 players who were cut from camp bringing the total up to 16. We take some time to talk injury, news and what it could mean for the Indians. Then we go through position by position trying to land on the final 26. There are really 41 players left for those 26 spots, and I set out to figure out who those 26 will be.

The Indians made their first three camp cuts. For two players who were hurt it was logical, but what does it mean for the third player who had a career high in starts and innings a year ago. We look at some more injuries around the league. We take a look at this day in history which get us on the both of the last two extended Indians shortstops Jhonny Peralta and Asdrubal Cabrera.
