The Indians did it all today. They added three players, the same three mentioned at length on the pod yesterday. They made a small trade with the Brewers getting value for a player who didn't have a ton of it. They also let go a member of their pen, which projects to save them another 1.1 million which they have to have to reinvested in a team that sees their window shrinking.

We talk about the new around the MLB. Then talk Rule 5 as all decisions must be final by 8 Pm EST on Wednesday. We then look into the Braves as they are a team that often gets mentioned in the Lindor race. I talk about why I think it is a bad fit, and why the Braves in general do not really work with an Indians team that is trying to balance contending and roster management much like they did a year ago with Trevor Bauer.

We talk about Josh Bell who could be on the move from the Pirates. We talk about some recent free agency rumors. Then we look at the Brewers to see if a trade with the Indians would make sense. The problem is the Brewers went from one of the deepest offensive squads to a team that needs help all over. They have failed to develop multiple first rounders and now have one of the worst minors in baseball. There are just not a lot of moves that make sense, as the Brewers from top to bottom are lacking talent.

We discuss the proposed deal in a New Jersey paper for Corey Kluber, before switching gears to talk about the proposal by the MLB that will have a dramatic change to to the minors. The proposal which could minor league baseball fundamentally getting rid of 25% of the teams and radically realigning the minors. We look at the talk of the day. We look at the third base market, and how the demand greatly outreaches the supply. We look at the Blue Jays who have been rumored to be spenders in FA. We discuss the Cubs new hire. Then we look at the Dodgers who are looking to add salary, which will likely require them to drop salary first. This could allow a team like the Indians to step up and take on salary and good players in the process so the Dodgers can add one of the top third baseman on the market.

Most of 2019, I wrote or talked about how the Cardinals made for a natural trade partner with the Indians. Now that the season is over is this still case? I look at how many of the Cardinals hitters regressed or struggled in 2019. I go over a pitching staff which has one of the best young arms in baseball, and then a bunch of fungible back end types. We look into one of the deepest pens in the league. After recording it was announced the Yankees had hirer, the recently promoted, Matt Blake to be their new pitching coach. So there is a quick take on this after the podcas's initial end. I will have more on Blake on Monday, but know his loss will be felt more than Puig or any free agent the Indians lose this year or next.
