Connor Norby just missed hitting for the cycle, breaking a franchise-record for extra-base hits in his first week with the Marlins and leading them to the 7-2 win over the Cubs.

Norby, who was acquired from the Baltimore Orioles in the Trevor Rogers trade on July 30, went 3-4 with a home run, RBI double, and three runs scored. He has six extra base hits in his first six games with Miami, a franchise record.

Jesus Sanchez homered and drove in two runs for the Marlins, and Jonah Bride added two hits and an RBI.

On the mound, Adam Oller went 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run while striking out six.

The Cubs went quietly today, just one day after lighting up the Loan Depot Park scoreboard for 14 runs.

The Cubs took two out of three over the weekend to win the season series against the Marlins, winning four of the seven games between these two teams in 2024.

The Marlins head to Colorado for a four-game series beginning tomorrow. The Rockies are a half game ahead of Miami in the race for the basement of the National League.

First pitch is set for 8:40pm, with Edward Cabrera (2-5, 5.65 ERA) on the mound for Miami.
