Happy Wednesday! It's another action-packed show for the listeners as Hunter starts out with another silly season trade idea. Yes, it's a Penguins-Canucks trade but NOT for JT Miller. It's for a forward and it requires the Penguins to send two players to the Canucks. He looks at how this player would help the forward group a lot, and how it also saves the team some cap space going into the next season. Next, he reviews the coaching performance of Mike Sullivan and how his system clearly still works. He looks at how great of a job he did during the season to get the team back to the playoffs and how he was able to get the team to flip the switch that quick yet again. Finally, he looks at the Penguins' PK heading into the next season and what they need to do a better job of doing.

Happy August! The year continues to fly by, as does the offseason. Hunter starts the show with a segment on Evgeni Malkin as his birthday just passed. He goes into five of his favorite goals from Geno's career and how much he's meant to the fans and the city. He also gives a small scoop on Malkin regarding a particular hat that fans have been waiting for before getting into who should be on the top pairing if the team does trade Brian Dumoulin (Hint: You may not like it). Finally, Hunter looks at a potential free agent signing that the Penguins could still make if they're willing to open up some cap space via a D trade.

Happy Friday! This is the final episode of the month and Hunter starts the show by thanking all of you for another record-setting month of listening. He then jumps into the meat of the show and gets into John Klingberg and how he finally came off the market on Friday. Was this a good move for the Ducks? Could he be a rental at the deadline? Hunter then moves into JFresh's Fan Survey and where Jake Guentzel landed in the top left wingers in the league. Was he a bit too low? If so, who would Hunter put him above? He then looks at the same list for the right-wingers and analyzes where Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell landed. How far up could they be next year if they have good years? Finally, Hunter ends the show with some talk about Evan Rodrigues and what a contract could look like if he decides to return to the Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins made a great move on Wednesday when they decided to bring back Danton Heinen on a very cheap deal. Hunter gives his immediate reaction to the move and yes, it's all positive. He goes into how great Heinen was at 5v5 last year and how the Penguins are getting him on a bargain, plus looks at what line he'll likely start with to begin the season. He also again reminds the listeners that Hextall's work likely isn't done, considering that the team still has nine defensemen and because the team probably still wants another forward added. He gives an updated look at what the depth chart looks like and sings some praise as the forward group looks a bit better. Following that, Hunter gives his top 10 prospects in the system, starting with the top 5 in the second segment, and then the bottom five in the last segment. All that, plus me forgetting about poor Calle Clang in the Rakell trade, on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

Congrats, you have made it to the offseason! Hunter is back with the first three episodes that will hit your airwaves this week. He starts the show off by going into Alex Nylander and how some fans have been asking him if he can potentially make the leap back to the NHL this season. Hunter goes into Nylander's numbers from this past season in the AHL but warns people as he also rode a pretty high shooting percentage. He then looks at what Nylander did the last time he was in the NHL and if that can be done in the Penguins' bottom six. After looking at the depth chart, he gives a percentage chance of Nylander making it or not before getting into a fun topic: Franchise Records! Hunter goes into some of the most significant records in franchise history and whether or not anyone can break them in the future. Can Sid pass Mario in goals and points? Who will hold the all-time record for most game-winning goals when it's all said and done? Will anyone match Kris Letang's records? Finally, Hunter ends the show with a fan survey from JFresh ranking the top D-men in the league and why Letang was again severely underrated.

It didn't look like there would be much news for the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday...until the Kapanen contract was announced. Hunter goes into that deal and how it makes very little sense for the Penguins both this upcoming season and next season. He looks at how Kapanen has declined as a player since coming to Pittsburgh and how it's too much money for someone who basically can't play above the third line. What does he have to do to make this deal worth it? He also tries to answer that question the best he can, while also looking at how Nino Nierrdeiter only got $800K more than him in free agency. Following that, he looks at how it affects the Penguins' salary cap situation going forward and what's next for the team before ending the show with a topic on how the Penguins won't use any of their buyouts this year. All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

Getting closer to the end of daily episodes, but today is NOT that day. Hunter starts the show with a formal apology to the listeners about not pronouncing Ryan Poehling's last name right (I stink!) before getting into why the Penguins SHOULD go after someone like Vladimir Tarasenko if he still wants a trade out of St. Louis. He looks at the numbers he put up this season and why he'd be a perfect fit with Malkin, plus it would end the #RussianWingerForGeno campaign that started so many years back. He also goes into his power play impact and how it would give the Penguins an unfair man-advantage. He looks at what he would likely cost from the Blues, especially if they're getting Matthew Tkachuk from the Flames. After that, Hunter looks at the pros and cons (mostly cons) of bringing back Phil Kessel after he was mentioned in Josh Yohe's mailbag on Wednesday morning. He looks at the numbers he put up this year and why he's only going to keep declining. Finally, Hunter gets into more Matthew Tkachuk talk and which teams make the most sense for him. He also gives his opinion on who would be on the table if the Penguins tried to acquire him.

The news is starting to dry up but that doesn't mean there's nothing to talk about when it comes to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hunter starts Tuesday's show off by diving into Ryan Poehling since he was basically forgotten about during the last couple of episodes. What kind of player are the Penguins getting in him? What do the underlyings look like? Could this be a true change of scenery? Hunter dives into all of those questions, especially the last one since he wasn't panning out in Montreal. He also looks at which players he would best with and how getting him carries very little risk for this season. Following that, Hunter dives into grading Ron Hextall's offseason so far and eats some of his words after criticizing him a few weeks ago. He gives his grade and the reasoning for it, while also again saying that more work needs to be done. He then gives what his final grade could be if he's able to fix the elephant in the room with two months to go. Finally, Hunter ends the show with some silly season talk about Matthew Tkachuk and how much fun it would be if the Penguins got him (no, it's not happening). All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

It was a busy weekend for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hunter first goes into the Jeff Petry trade and gives his thoughts on that move (for those that didn't watch the video on the YouTube page. He goes into how Petry is still an outstanding player and how he did this past season on a terrible Montreal team. He looks at how he's an upgrade over both Matheson and Marino on the second pairing, plus who this will help the most on the Penguins. After that, he gives a small scoop on Petry's original offer (likely around the time of the NHL Draft) and how the Penguins HAD TO include Matheson in the deal. Following that, he goes into the Ty Smith for John Marino deal and looks at what kind of player that the Penguins are getting in Smith. Is he someone who loves the puck on his stick? How can his defensive game improve next season? Is he the next defenseman for Todd Reirden to do serious work with? Hunter gives a prediction about Smith being in the opening night lineup before finishing the show focusing on Ron Hextall and how there's no chance he's done yet. All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

We've reached the end of another busy week! Hunter has a bit of a different show for this one as he goes into DK's Friday Insider article and touches on the reported reason for Jim Rutherford's absence. He goes into what that move could've been (No, it's not a Kris Letang trade) and also speculates what that conversation with David Morehouse looks like. He also wonders if more about this story will ever come out in the future. Following that, Hunter gets into a report from Taylor Haase about what the Heinen camp was expecting if he was qualified and if it went to arbitration. He looks at why the Penguins made the right call in that circumstance and wonders what a new deal would look like if the team does circle back. He also looks at why Brian Dumoulin may not be moved (according to Danny Shirey) and how management makes a pretty good point in the opposite direction. Finally, Hunter brings up a couple of talking points from the 32 Thoughts podcast and wonders what the proposed trade would've looked like had the Penguins moved a defenseman at the NHL Draft (per Friedman). All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.
