  • "Merv from Manurewa" talks with Marcus
There are allegations a senior National Party figure attempted to derail one of the candidates for the Auckland Central seat with a late-night talkback call.
Newshub is alleging 'Merv' who called Marcus Lush's show last Monday is actually party board member Roger Bridge.
He told Marcus he was in Manurewa and was a bit confused after seeing billboards all over the place for Nuwi Samarakone.

  • The saga of Marcus' phone dropped in a bath
We may not all admit to it, but a lot of us have dropped our phones into water at some point - there are plenty of "life hacks" on how to dry out your device, but do any of them work? Over the course of tonight's show, Marcus found out for himself.

  • David Seymour calls talkback to defend not owning a house
Following a day of talkback dissecting the ACT Welfare policy announcement, and a previous caller querying him personally for not owning a house, David Seymour phoned Marcus to set the record straight on what he's doing with his money, and NZ's borders staying closed while the world catches up on Covid recovery.
On why he doesn't have a house:
"When [the 84yo previous caller] was my age, it was a bit easier to buy a house."
"I'll buy a house one day, but, like many people in my generation, it's a bit harder."
"I'm just a regular guy, that went on his O.E., arrived back in the country, ended up standing for parliament, and happened to do it in an electorate where if you want to live where you represent, it's a bit more expensive than most places."
    On NZ's borders:
"We live in an island nation on a pandemic planet."

  • Caller of the night: How long is a minute?
Is there such a thing as 'time sensitivity'? More specifically, can you time a minute without a watch?

  • Call of the night: Don and Parris reconnect after 50 years
Two friends have been reconnected after nearly 50 years, because they were both listening to the Marcus Lush Nights show.
Marcus mentioned the passing of Millie Small, and heard from a few callers who had attended concerts of hers in New Zealand in the 1960s.
One caller, Don, said he went to her show in Greymouth with an older friend of his, Parris Heath, and went backstage after the show as Parris interviewed Millie for the local newspaper.
A couple of hours later, after thinking he had heard himself be mentioned on the radio, Parris rang Marcus to confirm the story.
