In this episode, I take on the buzzword everyone loves to post about: vulnerability. I am all for being real, but somewhere along the way, we confused leadership with live-journaling our breakdowns on social media. I break down the difference between honest transparency and emotional dumping, and why context matters. The way you are vulnerable with your spouse is not how you should be vulnerable with your team.
We talk about the leader's job in hard moments: inspire, stabilize, and provide clarity. Your people do not need to carry your burdens to trust you. They need direction, standards, and a steady hand. I share practical guardrails for sharing just enough to be human without turning staff meetings into group therapy, plus a simple test to decide what to share, when, and with whom.
Bottom line: handle your battles in private, show up in public with strength, and use your words to move people forward. Be real, be honest, but do not overshare. Leadership is not about you. It is about who you are leading. Be the person your team can lean on, not the person your team has to carry.
Welcome to The Spinoso Podcast hosted by CEO, doctor, comic book geek, and car guy, Alex Spinoso. I help people and companies grow - especially in the medical business. While my experience and expertise is in scaling all types of medical businesses to 7, 8, 9-figures or more, I can be a mentor to anyone who wants to take ownership of their lives, become a better leader at home and at work, and overcome any obstacle that stands in their way.

In this episode of The Spinoso Podcast, I kick off a new series inspired by the Founders podcast and dive into Phil Knight's story from Shoe Dog. We break down how Nike started as Blue Ribbon Sports with shoes sold out of a car trunk, why "start before you're ready" beats analysis paralysis, and how Knight battled daily imposter syndrome yet moved anyway. We pull out practical lessons for clinic owners and entrepreneurs who need to make faster decisions, test in the real world, and course-correct without fear.
We also look at the brand side. Nike did not just sell shoes. They sold a feeling, an identity, and a culture of winning. We talk about how to build that kind of meaning inside a medical business: tighten your pillars, stack services that complement each other, operate on facts not feelings, and turn great service into reviews and referrals. If your community talks about you, trusts you, and returns often, your brand has a soul. If not, we share the simple plays to fix it.
Finally, we connect mindset to execution. Make the decision, move, and learn. Hold a massive vision people want to join. Set clear standards, live your core values in front of patients, and care enough to ask for the referral. Whether you are at one location or scaling to many, these founder principles translate directly into more impact, more loyalty, and more profit.

In this episode of The Spinoso Podcast, I get real about something most entrepreneurs don't want to admit: imposter syndrome. I share how reading Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, the founder of Nike, hit me hard. Here's a man who built one of the most iconic brands in history, stared down banks, lawsuits, and failure after failure, and still felt like he didn't belong in the room. That hit home because I feel that too, every single day. From selling my house to build a business to standing in rooms full of investors and leaders, that voice of doubt never completely goes away.
But what Phil Knight's story taught me, and what I've learned through building multiple seven, eight, and nine-figure companies, is that imposter syndrome doesn't disqualify you. It defines you. It means you care. It means you're building something big enough to scare you. Every entrepreneur who's ever built something worth talking about has felt that same fear. The difference is, they didn't let it stop them.
So if you're out there feeling unqualified, outmatched, or a little afraid, remember this: you're not alone, and it's not a weakness. It's a sign you're exactly where you're supposed to be. Lace up, get out of your head, and, yes, just do it.

In this episode, I sit down with my friend Clint to share the unfiltered version of my story. I went from being a prison doctor on a 2,000-inmate yard to building an eight-figure medical wellness company. The turning point was risking half my savings to join a mastermind, selling my house, and opening our first clinic out of two rented rooms in a chiropractic office. That leap became Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, now 40+ locations and entering what we call Genesis 2.0.
My mindset had to change from "what if it fails" to "what if I don't try." Analysis paralysis almost kept me in a safe government job. The truth is, for most medical entrepreneurs, the worst case is going back to what you were already doing. Once I accepted that, I could move fast, learn faster, and keep betting on myself even when it felt uncomfortable.
We dig into building a purpose-driven company that actually cares for people and still scales. I walk through operating on facts, not feelings, stacking services that complement each other, and creating a culture that asks for referrals, earns reviews, and delivers with integrity. If you are a provider or owner who wants to grow without losing the mission, this conversation gives you the playbook I use every day.

In this episode, I unpack a simple truth my buddy Jacob posted that separates amateurs from elite operators: do what you said you would do, when you said you would do it. If you promise Friday at 1 p.m., deliver Friday at 1 p.m. Elite people run complex systems where every commitment is a gear. When your gear slips, their machine grinds. Miss enough deadlines or show up late, and you are out. It really is that simple.
But there is a deeper level. External trust starts with internal trust. Real confidence comes from integrity, not applause. When you say you will hit the gym at 6 a.m. and you go, when you say you will make the calls and you make them, when you say you will fix a broken process and you fix it, you teach your brain that your word is law. That is the foundation that holds when life throws chaos at you.
So here is the play: keep your word to your clients, your mentors, and your team. Most importantly, keep your word to yourself. That is how you build self-respect, how you win under pressure, and how you become the person elite people rely on. Deliver on time, every time, and watch the doors open.

In this episode of the Spinoso Podcast, Amanda and I dive into the top five business books of 2025 and break down the lessons, flaws, and tweaks entrepreneurs can actually apply. From Cody Sanchez's Main Street Millionaire to James Clear's Atomic Habits, we look at what these authors are really saying and where the messages line up with real business ownership—and where they don't.
We talk about the hype around "boring businesses," why passive income is a myth, and why purpose and profit can't be separated if you want to build something that lasts. We also cover creativity, customer experience, and boundaries in leadership, connecting each idea to the real challenges of running clinics and scaling a company without burning out or getting lost in trends.
The biggest takeaway? Success isn't about reading the most books or following the latest theory. It's about asking if the lesson is useful, if it's true, and how you can implement it in your business today. Whether it's refining habits, living your core values, or leading with clarity, this conversation will push you to move beyond information and into action.

In this episode, I talk about something every entrepreneur has thought about at some point. What if I had a rich parent who handed me a check and said, "Go chase your dreams"? Wouldn't it be easier to skip the grind? The truth is, it might be easier in the short term, but in the long run it could ruin you. I share the story of Cornelius Vanderbilt, who built an empire from nothing, how he tested his son before passing it on, and how the fortune disappeared within a few generations because money without a mission never lasts.
I break down why struggle is not a disadvantage, but a gift. When you have to fight for every inch, you learn how to sustain, protect, and respect what you build. Entitlement comes from comfort without challenge, and history is full of examples of families who lost everything because they didn't pass down the grit that created it in the first place. This isn't theory for me—it's real. As a dad of four, I wrestle with how to set up my kids without softening them, how to test them without punishing them, and how to make sure they build their own muscle instead of leaning on mine.
If you're building without a safety net, no handouts, no bailout money, I want you to know you're better off. You're not behind, you're building a foundation that will last. The legacy you create won't just be wealth, it will be self-respect, confidence, and fulfillment that no one can ever take from you. That's what matters, and that's what will endure.

In this episode, Amanda and I get real about leading Gen Z. We sort the myths from the truth, talk through why "lazy" is often efficiency in disguise, and show how purpose, flexibility, and tech fluency can become advantages instead of headaches. If you want a team that moves faster with better tools, this generation can help you get there once the standards are clear.
We share a practical playbook you can use right away. Hire for values, define non-negotiables, and spell out what a win looks like. Coach instead of coddle with frequent feedback and context for the mission. Use simple tools like the Top 5 motivators sheet, quarterly team events, handwritten touches for culture, and deeper interviews to avoid warm-body hires.
The bottom line is simple. Every generation brings quirks. Great leaders adapt without lowering the bar. When Gen Z believes the work matters and the scoreboard is clear, they will sprint. Hold the standard, teach the why, and leverage their automation mindset. You will get a sharper, faster organization that is built for where business is going.

In this episode, I riff on a line from Dead Poets Society that's shaped how I live and lead: "suck the marrow out of life." A young entrepreneur told me his business was so dialed that there was "nothing left to do." My response? If you think there's nothing to do, you've already checked out. That's not leadership that's sedation. You didn't build a company; you built a beach house with nobody in it. Growth isn't just about revenue or SOPs, it's about refusing to go numb.
When the business hums, the real work starts: becoming. Sharpen your leadership. Learn a new skill. Be fully present with your people. Go roll in jiu-jitsu, study a craft, build a new competency that makes you dangerous in another arena. Boredom isn't a quirk; it's a warning light that your vision is too small. The happiest, highest-performing people I know aren't addicted to doing, they're addicted to becoming. They hunt purpose daily.
This is your gut check: if your days feel too easy, you're not playing a big enough game. Don't confuse autopilot with arrival. Take your purpose seriously, your people seriously, but not yourself so seriously that you forget to actually live. There is always something to do. Pick the next mission, raise the bar, and move like your life depends on it because it does.
